Men and I are done.Whatever entertaining notions I enjoy while screwing around with the random guys that cross my path, are exactly that. Entertaining. I don’t want more. I’m not capable of more. More would mean feeling. Would entail wanting. Desiring. And a slew of other emotions I haven’t experienced in over three years. And it’s not due to any stupid naïve intention of trying to keep my heart from breaking, nor is it as a result of having it broken by some poor slob who should have known better.I can’t feel. I don’t have a heart.Period. And it's going to take more than following some magic yellow brick road to get me a new one. Even if that road does lead straight to Riker ~The only soul on earth who's as close to being dead as I am... and brings me as close to being alive as I'll ever be.*This book contains sensitive subject matter.*
Dog Lover who likes her pastries full of cream and sugar...oh...and I write some ;-)
Aside from being an author, I am also a mom to a beautiful little girl. I tell everyone I named her after my great-grandmother (because that's the mature answer), but really, I named her after my favorite princess - just so happens I got lucky and they had the same name...If I wasn't a writer, I would work on a horse ranch - I'm an animal lover (in addition to dogs, horses are at the top of my list). I wear flip-flops pretty much everywhere I go. I would rather stay awake until 5 am than get up at 5 am (years of bar tending have left their mark), if I can, I'm going to the beach AND I will always be nice to people who bring me chocolate...or coffee...if you bring me both, I'll probably love you forever.
I write the way I live, following the story wherever it may lead, always ready to start the next one. This is clearly reflected in my body of work which to date includes everything from Children's Lit to Thrillers. I happily reside in sunny Florida (for now) with my daughter and three dogs.
TITLE: Tin AUTHOR: K.S. Thomas GENRE: Contemporary Romance RELEASED: May 27th 2015 MY RATING: ★★★★
Tin for me was an enjoyable tale of suspense, passion, love and mystery all rolled into an unforgettable story..
QUINN ~ I don't want more. I'm not capable of more. More would mean feeling, Would entail wanting, Desiring. And a slew of other emotions I haven't experienced in over three years. I can't feel, I don't have a heart
Last week I went stalking Amazon and this cover (luvs this cover) just kept jumping out at me so I went and one clicked it, and after looking at the five star reviews on here, I'm taking the plunge and am going to start it tonight!!
Oh my god, Cowboy. I whispered That's not my name. He rumbles in my ear I don't care You don't know my name, do you
So I didn't love this but didn't hate it, this is the first time I've read anything by this author, the story line moved pretty fast in the beginning of the story and wasn't till just after half way that your given little bits of both their pasts..I loved where the animals made an appearance into the story as I'm a huge sucker for four legged critters, add in the hot tatted male and I was goner..
QUINN ~ The simple things. Those are the things that matter to me now. Everything else leads to trouble.
I found it easy to get into, and thinking about it I can honestly say I've not read anything like it, so for me it was a total unique experience, full of surprises that the synopsis didn't give away..
Ryker ~ I may not be the guy to make her dreams come true, but I don't want to be the piece of shit who adds to the nightmares either.
Soooooo it starts off she's at her nieces birthday pony riding party, meets a hot cowboy at the stables, next scene she goes for a run and strike me down (shocked face inserted) she meets the hot tatted up cowboy again, each speak a few lines, she gets invited back to his place and they do the spider dance (another shock face inserted) wtf this is the fastest moving no romance jump straight into bed book I have read so far..
There's more to the two main characters than we're made to believe, both have pasts they want to keep buried, I loved Rykers character *sighs* a real alpha cowboy, straight talking take no prisoners get f*cking no talking Ryker lol
A nice book....at least better than all the romance books I ve been DNFING recently. I didn't feel like dropping the book at any point in time. It's a book that addressed a very sensitive and crucial topic that breaks my heart each and every time I read about it. The romance in the book was sweet but it happened so fast I didn't even realised when it all went down. I loved the broken main characters even with their rash decision making sometimes.i really enjoyed how the author brought everything to a nice ending...and the person I loved the most???? The judge!!! Her closing statement was my best part of the book...
“I didn’t choose to pick up this gavel or wear this robe to sit by and watch our justice system be misused in such a grossly negligent way as I have seen here since the proceedings began. However, after hearing testimony today from the defendant, I am more convinced than ever that we owe this young woman not only a not guilty verdict, but an apology. As members of this court, it is our duty to act with the utmost respect for human life, always. Unfortunately, at times we seem to forget that the defendants, however reprehensible they may seem, are entitled to that same respect. And when I see cases like this one, I am reminded time and time again that we are failing in this very important aspect of our jobs. “You give me hope, Ms. Quincy. You give me hope, because your strength in spirit and your kindness of heart remain even after all you have endured. You give me hope, because I believe you will continue your work as you have done since your release from prison, and with your help, maybe society will stop asking women to be more pre-emptive in dealing with their attackers. Expect less mindful planning of their reactions to their attacks. And be more gracious and understanding of women who love their attackers in spite of how they suffer.” She turns toward the Murphys. “I am truly sorry for your loss. No mother should endure the loss of her child. But no woman should endure the violence your son subjected Abigail Quincy to either. No human being should have to face the choice between dying and taking a life. Least of all the life of someone she loves. And no human being should ever have to face prosecution for surviving what should have killed them. Abigail Quincy owes you nothing. We owe her. We owe her the years of her life she spent in prison. We owe her for the months of public shaming she endured during her trials. We owe her for the undeniable pain and likely humiliation she faced every time she was asked to recount the times she was brutalized. And we owe her for never acknowledging her losses. For saying, it’s your own fault. For suggesting she deserved the sort of treatment she was given. Let me assure you one last time, she does not.” everyone got the happy ever after they deserved

Wow...what a read that was. I just finished Tin by KS Thomas and absolutely loved it! This is the first book I've read by her, and I'm sitting here wondering why the heck that is. KS Thomas lassoed me in right from the beginning, and she didn't release me until the very last page. Every ingredient for a great book is here...drama, laughter, suspense, romance, hot sex, animals that steal your heart (their stories alone pull at your heartstrings)...it's all here.
Quinn is a former barrel racer with a dark past. She is just an empty tin, a shell of her former carefree self. Riker is a man barely even living. He's just going through the motions of life. That is until he meets Quinn...thanks to his horse, Nox. After a second run in with each other, they decide to blow off some steam together. Now what better way to do that then to have really hot sex. The question is what happens when it becomes more than that? Will their secrets continue to haunt them? What if they aren't as empty and dead inside as they thought they were?
I loved the fact that KS Thomas didn't tell me everything about Quinn and Riker right from the beginning. She fed their secrets to me, piece by piece, leaving me yearning for more. I could not put this book down. Well, now, that's not true. I had to put it down a few times just to take a breath. I would have looked a little crazy sitting at the beach with tears running down my face. I give Tin 5 stars (and I don't give those out freely) and I'm adding this author to my list of must reads.
*I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
Did I judge this book by its cover? Fucking right I did. Did the amazing cover provide a glimpse of how amazing the story was, fucking right it did.
The story starts off rather confusing. It uses 2 points of view and I initially had a WTF moment as I was unprepared. It took me a chapter or 2 to figure out the formula because the points of view arent clearly identified. Just a hint first part is his second part is hers.
Quin has some history and while she keeps it to herself we ever so slowly learn about Quinn. Shes a very secretive, stubborn, and quite frankly a but of an asshole. Which is probably why I love her.
River he roped me in real quick. His foul attitude and hate for life completely relateable. We’ve all had times whe life has beaten us down. Thats whats happened to Riker. The only thing keeping his head above water is Kox, the stubborn house that belonged to his late grandfather.
They meet when Quin is attending her niece's birthday party at the ranch where Riker works. There definitely some spark but Quin’s sister stomps it out quickly. At least that’s what she thinks.
They run into each other Sparks fly and panties drop. They are strictly feck buddies until the inevitable happens. They start to catch feelings. Its new for both of them because they have been hurt before and one of them cant handle everything.
I loved their flawed relationship. Its relateable in many ways and yet a few experience. This was the first book I read from Thomas. I greatly enjoyed the snark and the characters but most of all I love how real it all felt.
Tin is an unforgettable tale of unfathomable pasts, suspense, mystery, passion, and love all rolled together.
The authors writing is so well thought out and put together, with each chapter flowing seamlessly into the next. As the book progresses and certain revelations come to light, I was left with a litany of emotions, which gave me the inability to put the book down.
I adore how, although, Riker and Quinn would sometimes have intense feelings of self-loathing, the author still managed to give us two very strong, sexy, lovable characters.
I truly appreciated the use of language and humor interwoven throughout, which allowed me a momentary reprieve from the sadness that would threaten to take over me, as particularly difficult truths slowly unraveled.
A beautifully written story about two people existing & barely surviving due to devastating events in their past. They begin a purely sexual relationship, both adamant to not take things further than two people having fun & enjoying each other. Quinn & Riker are broken, both emotionally shut down, both claiming they can no longer feel & both reluctant to talk about their pasts. When feelings eventually begin to surface, one is more willing to pursue a relationship while the other can't deny the inner conflicts continuing to haunt them. Quinn & Riker have been through hell & as each of their stories unfold, they find strength & comfort but is it enough for a lasting relationship. This is a first for me by this author who paced the story so well, revealing just enough to keep the reader invested up until the final chapters. The book bleeds an unfortunate reality for some people & those may find emotional triggers in specific areas. I am happy to say that there is a HEA for this very deserving couple.
Tin by K.S. Thomas This Devil has read over 80 books so far this year and quite a few of them have been really good. Tin by K.S. Thomas has been the best. Any author who writes well enough to bring tears to my eyes is someone worth following. This is a classic story that all of us have read. Two damaged people who find each other and start the repair process. Except both of these people are not just damaged, life has enjoyed kicking them while they were down. Kicking them hard, repeatedly. Ms. Thomas does an expert job of retelling each kick at her own pace. All the while she is slowly shedding light on their past she also makes us fall in love with them. I honestly can not recall the last time I was so enamored of not just the main focus but also the supporting characters, the side stories, even the animals had my full attention and support. This is the first book of hers that I have read but I promise it will not be the last. The Devil scores this book a perfect 5 pitchforks.
I love the cover of this book,I love the pacing of the story and I love love looove the title. It's short but so so smart.I was getting tired of seeing cheesy titles so it was refreshing to see a well thought out one. The characters; Riker is a man who's existing more than he is living, and Quinn believes she has no heart anymore after the hand life dealt her. When they come together,it's for a purely physical relationship..but things get more serious as they spend more time together. This is when you see Riker for the amazing man he is.I loved the way he gave Quinn time and didn't badger her into expressing feelings or giving him her past and the way he showed her how a real man treats a lady. just sigh
KS has definitely out shined herself with Tin. Every time I thought "I'll finish this chapter and go to bed", while bed never happened. With one twist or revelation after the next I finished this book in less than six hours. Life isn't always full of happiness. Real life is full of disappoints and failures. This is a story about how you can move forward, put the past behind, but still have live a life affected by the past. Life's course is always influenced by something that has happened to us. This book above all others is the one reason why KS is my favorite author above all others.
This was a pretty good book. Two people who had bad shit happen to them, but found each other and with that a way to move on. Great supporting character in Kirsten. My only complaint would be Quinn playing a little too much the martyr in saying she deserved to feel nothing for what she did, but I have to disagree and it sure how well the justice system worked for her. Riker was great and figured out quickly what Quinn meant to him.
3.5* I liked this. I haven't read anything by this author before so I wasn't sure whether to give it a go, figured I might as well at 99p. You never know when you might strike lucky. A story that is drip fed to you. Bit by bit the story unfolds and you think you know what's happening but it turns out you were only almost right.
My first by this author. Quin is MY girl. Everything she has gone through is something I could relate to. I could be her in this book. I found that her story alone was so well written and very unpredictable that you wonder how she even made it through. Riker was epitome of someone who is in need of someone to love him for himself and just be his. He goes through a lot and can't help but be in a miserable situation. He persevered as Quin has and they in my opinion were written for each other so perfectly that these two were destined to meet and be together. This story is written so phenomenally that you will find yourself picking up your heart and trying your best to put the pieces back together if you can at all after reading this story. It has taken me a few days to form the thoughts to write this review as it has effected me in a way that very few stories can. It is powerful and beautiful. It will grab you. it left me feeling bereft and yet very happy. I think K.S. Thomas did a wonderful job at the way this story handles domestic violence, writing the real, bitter and ugly.

I’m very stingy with my five stars. And by the time I finish writing this review I might just change my 4 starts rating to five.
This book has a meddling older sister, a cute niece that could have had a few more cute scenes, a stubborn horse, a protective tripod dog, grumpy main characters that don’t realize they have feelings they’ve been fighting. It was emotional, but not too much, it had an actual storyline and backstories for the main characters that had depth. Not just the “tragic” moment in their past that made them change, but real issues and trouble.
I like that I was able to guess the general back story for the FMC, but didn’t know the whole thing before it was revealed to me.
I like that it wasn’t just a rough childhood or crappy cheating/neglectful parents. They’ve both experienced real trauma and helped each other begin to heal.
And there’s a meaning behind it.
On a scale of would I buy it in physical copy: yes. 100%. There’s a note at the end that a portion of the proceeds goes to help people and animals (not the full quote). Not sure how true it still is as it’s about a decade old now, but I’d still buy it.
Can they heal from their traumatic pasts to have a future?
Tin is one of K.S. Thomas best books that I have read yet. It is filled with a whole bunch of emotion that it is overflowing. Both Quinn and Riker have had more than their share of turbulent and traumatic pasts. They have both closed off to a certain extent as a survival instinct, not unusual in humans and animals. Once they come together they have what they think will be a simple situation but it turns complicated because they both end up with those pesky things called "feelings" starting. I will leave other reviews to describe more about the book itself. But I will say that I really enjoyed this delicately written story of two lost and broken souls who somehow end up finding each other in this world and are able to fit together as a whole.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
—>>> The simple yet perfect cover is pretty and coy about the amazing finding-a-real-love story it hides behind it. These two characters and what they have held tight to their hearts to keep from falling apart tentatively begin to mend the torn layers of themselves via their secretive open-door-policy nighttime rendezvous. But they knew that going in, it was just be a temporary arrangement, something they had agreed upon but realized they wanted and needed, only more so in the weeks to come. But Riker finds himself yearning for more with this very skittish girl Quinn who had appeared on his radar with so much heart and soul, something he spots so insightfully as clear as day. This story delivered a heartfelt message, an amazing read which will impact your heart!
This story broke my heart and then pieced it back together again. As a domestic violence survivor stories like this are hard to read as they are sometimes triggering, but it was written in a tasteful and touching way that showed the real way cases tend to end when victims fight back.
The characters were realistic and their flaws helped to make them who they were. I connected with Quinn on a personal level and wished I could be as strong as she was.
This story gave me the hope that one day I can heal and have my own Riker that will be my safe place.
I would recommend this book wholeheartedly, but with the warning that some parts may be a bit triggering to sensitive people.

I really enjoyed this, it actually made me cry near the end, but also go, yeah would that really happen? I feel like we missed some of their relationship as it skipped forward often, but meh. I also wonder and will research if a hysterectomy can be reversed when it is an emergency. I liked that there was no other woman/man drama at the time, just past issues they had to deal with. Sex/love scenes were lacking and sometimes there were inconsistencies after or during these scenes. The underlying message of women having to prevent the abuse not being realistic was good.
*MAJOR WARNING* If your sensitive to others struggles, and sometimes forget that book characters are not real people. You will cry many times through out this story!
With that said it is an amazing story, about to broken souls that use each other to heal and become whole! I really can't say enough how much I adore this story! I have had a few similar experiences as Quinn, so I think it also hits me hard for that reason. Must read/listen!
The narrator is new to me, but she does an amazing job with infusing personality into the characters!.

Simply AMAZING! So much more than I was expecting. The storyline held my attention making me want more. Hard impacting twists that at times were a bit hard to comprehend but is exactly what makes this story a perfect read for me. Edgy hot chemistry that ignites into hot passionate chemistry. Emotionally raw and heartfelt with a rollercoaster of full of other emotions that gives plenty of highs and brutal lows. A read I gladly recommend and has me in search of another read from this author because now I can honestly say she has me as new fan of her work.
Riker and Quinn have some heavy attraction, but both have sworn off relationships. They both have lots of darkness in their pasts, both physical and emotional abuse, and life isn't done kicking Quinn. I listened to the audio version of this book, narrated by Kacey Czosnowski. She has a really nice voice, and did a great job with the narration. With dual POV, she made it easy to distinguish the Riker chapters from the Quinn chapters, without having a real obvious drop in her tone for Riker. The author gives a warning about possible triggers for some readers and there are flashbacks in the story of abuse so please take that warning seriously. Quinn and Riker are the main characters, and neither is exactly what they first appear to be. This is a wonderfully written page-turner that deserves a reader’s full attention.

This is a fantastic, contemporary romance read/listen that will captivate from start to finish. Well written and narrated, this romance has everything I could want - drama, sweet and steamy romance, some laughter and a perfect HEA. Main characters are Quinn and Riker, both have traumatic pasts that have them just going thru the motions of life until...

I love this book. I seriously love this book. The characters aren’t perfect, they are broken by circumstance, depressed and overwhelmed in life, and absolutely perfect. The side characters help tell this beautiful story with an impeccable honesty.

This was yet another very strong story from this author. The story follows Riker and Quinn. They meet, when Riker's horse Nox escapes from him and Quinn stops his horse. They are attending a birthday party with horses and are later, much to each other's dismay, paired together to help.

I've had this sat on my Amazon TBR list for about two years. I finally gave in and read.
Man am i happy i went in with this story, this is such a good story. Two damaged souls meeting each other, one thinks it's just a short blip, while the longer they linger the more he thinks this may be more.
First time reading this author took me a while to read it but once I got into I really enjoyed what she went through was horrible and even what Riker went through was bad he loved those babies and to find out they weren’t even his makes me so angry 😡 how some women can be but in the end Riker and Quinn got a baby .
Quinn and Riker both have a past that neither want to share. At first they are a fling while Quinn is in town. A way for both to blow off some steam, but things get tricky when it becomes more. Secrets start to come out and they both start to trust again, but all it be enough for them to start new together? Good easy read! 2/5 spice
Way to rip my heart out and put it back together. Riker was an amazing MMC, Mr. Cinnamon Roll ❤️ He went through so much but was able to heal with Quinn. Quinn was broken but so strong at the same time. Ughhh, I love them together.
Two devastated souls find each other just to feel good again. So many secrets, emotions and sadness are working between them. Grief and heartache compromised their lives in so many ways.
Keep the tissues handy as you sob your way through the book.
