Hope and the emotions she likes to put me through I swear!
I thought I had my favourite character from the series already, but holy batman was I wrong!
Through book 5 we start to see more of Harley who goes undercover with work to bring down a crime family. We get to see the raw and vulnerable side to Harley and how she deals with working with the type of men who don’t think women should be on the job (insert eyeroll here).
I love seeing the new dynamic between her and her new love interest. It’s full of tension, lots of banter and a slow burn kind of danger that keeps you glued to the pages.
This series just gets better with each book that comes out!
I loved getting back into this world. It was really nice to meet other character too and hear their stories. I really loved Harley, she’s absolutely fab and I’m looking forward to following her more in the next book.
Hope has such a way with words, of making you feel exactly what the characters are feeling in the moment.
I’d have read this a lot quicker had I not hit a reading slump.
📱Beta read - Reckless Perceptions by Hope Everly 💜 Release date 24/7 along with book 6, Blood Honor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Reckless Perceptions is a character-driven romantic suspense that excels in emotional continuity, relationship depth, and long-term consequences. One of its strongest qualities is how naturally it balances multiple storylines without losing clarity—each character arc has room to breathe while still weaving into the larger narrative.
The central theme of worth and judgment is consistently reinforced throughout the book, particularly through Willow and Harley. Willow’s confrontation with Kym is a major emotional turning point, powerfully highlighting how past mistakes and external judgment can shape self-perception. Braxton’s response, especially his immediate search for Willow afterward, effectively reinforces the fragility of trust and the emotional weight of the situation.
Harley stands out as one of the strongest characters in the book, with her undercover storyline and workplace challenges creating some of the most compelling tension. The ongoing sexism and lack of support she faces adds consistent conflict that builds her resilience and emotional arc. Drake’s relationship with her remains complex, with strong chemistry and tension, but still feels like it is developing toward full emotional accountability.
Finn and Diana’s storyline provides a grounded contrast, offering a slower, more mature emotional arc that balances the intensity of the other plotlines. Their custody case and growing connection feel steady and well-earned.
Rather than feeling overcrowded, the multiple timelines and perspectives are well balanced and allow each storyline to develop without overwhelming the reader. The pacing feels intentional, with each arc given space to progress in its own lane while still contributing to the overall emotional structure of the book.
Overall, Reckless Perceptions is an emotionally engaging and well-balanced read with strong character work, consistent themes, and satisfying relationship development, even as some arcs clearly continue building toward future resolution.
Hope has done it again. 💖 This book put me through every possible emotion. I smiled, laughed, got frustrated, had my heart broken and still couldn't stop turning the pages. Brax absolutely stole this book for me. Seeing how fiercely he fought for Willow and how much she truly means to him made me love him even more. But learning everything he was willing to sacrifice to protect his brother and his family, even if it meant losing his brother for a while... wow. That says everything about the kind of person he is. 💙 Finn remains one of my favourite characters in this series and this book was no exception. 💖 His loyalty, his heart, and his adorable awkwardness reminded me exactly why he became my favourite in the first place. And without giving anything away, there were definitely a few moments that had me smiling and hoping for what I've been waiting for so long 💖🤭 I also enjoyed seeing some newer perspectives throughout the story. Hope always does a great job of making each character feel unique and giving them their own voice, which keeps the series feeling fresh and exciting. Another amazing addition to the Rise of the Broken Hearts series. And now I'm eagerly waiting to see what happens next because Hope has once again left me wanting more. 💖📚
