I loved the name of the books by this author. Each of them is interesting and funny and mind blowing. So I bought all the books. Now, I am really regretting it.
This is the story of the author. About his first crush, first love, first kiss, first sex and first pill n so on. And seriously its really cheap way to talk of such things, its really very degrading and humiliating. After reading 70 pages, I just hate the story and so the author. I think guys will like this book because basically the book is just about how the fucking author got fucked and broke several heart. He's one mean S.O.B. And he kept talking about that was different time. I dont think so because I perfectly remember the time when orkut was in "rage" and then was the facebook. No one can say "those time were different". If he was my parent's age, I would have understood. But its really a cheap thing to write a book about. How many girls he had sex with and how he broke their heart and got away with it. If he come in front of me, I would really KILL him. I was so happy that Sheeny said that she wont call him anymore. And then he got to know her value and he was missing her and that just served him right.
I would strongly suggest everyone to not to read this book. Its just as disgusting as it is cheap !!!!
Durjoy Dutta, I wonder from where you got the inspiration to WRITE BOOKS with such pathetic English and lack of creativity. I literally regret why I started reading this filthy book with such a foolish story. The book revolves around Durjoy, a Bengali guy, and his relationship with half a dozen girls. Some like him some don't; but he finds all of them CUTE. It is so exasperating that CUTE is the only adjective in Durjoy Dutta's dictionary to extol a girl. Apart from this, the story itself is vexing enough to follow till the end. The book is filled with nonsensical and egregious characters, conversations, words, scenes and everything else. It's quite bewildering for me to believe that stuff like this gets published and people even start idolizing smutty writers like you. It's shameful for me to even write a review on your book but I couldn't help it. I had to warn others from reading this hell of a book.
Durjoy Dutta's books only consist of eye catching titles and strictly nothing else except pure shit...! Throughout the book, the reader is taken on a nonsensical ride with sights like first time crushes, the virginity losing ceremony, dumping ,sex, dumping again and yet again with a lot of you know-what-in between.....ahh and finally true love and what follows then is a stereotypical bollywood movie.....! So even if you are sworn fan of Dutta (which is rare i guess), you should avoid this..!
The fact that I read his books when I was a teen doesn't let me sleep at night 😭😭 Mans so horny he's describing boobs in 45 different chapters. Touch some grass, Durjoy
It is not written for my age group but I read it anyway. We have to read outside our comfort level at times. The hero (he has the same name as one of the authors) narrates his love story - or stories - for the benefit of anyone who's interested.
The gospel according to Durjoy. How he was a fat, ugly fellow who followed the same girl home from school for years. The first crush. The first kiss. The first sex. The first true love. By the time I finished this book, I was ready to murder the main character with my bare hands. These things are very personal. Who in the name of all that's sacred wants to know about his sex life? Well, as I live in the middle class India which is Durjoy's milieu, I know now never to engage a young man as a tutor for my daughter. Heck, I knew it anyway.
No one forced me to read this book. It was lent to me and I finished it because I started it. It was tedious from start to finish. There may be people who are willing to pay out money to read the (s)exploits of Durjoy. Not me. I'd rather write my own stories. I have actually. My advice to Durjoy is get a life. Live that life. When you have some good stories to tell, write them. Who knows? You may yet win the Nobel Prize for literature.
i remember i said earlier that i am going to take a break from the author and read something else. but when i finally saw this book in the library i could not resist. " oh yes i am single is another funny titled book by durjoy which works well to grab the attention of the readers. ones who have read durjoy datta before would better know that the content of the book is not half as interesting as the title itself. then why do i go back to his book?? i can explain!!
for one, i cannot read two serious books at stretch. so these " pop-corn " books give me a break form the serious "stuff" and i get to enjoy life. secondly, all the famous serious writers i know are going to be good. i can pick up any book by them and i know that i will not regret reading it. on the contrary, the new writers on board are the once not yet discovered. so i feel they should also get a fair chance. after a series of not so good books i thought should explain why i keep going back to them!!
this is the 7th book i have read by dujoy datta. I m not a crazy fan, trust me!!
the book is about the love conquests and heartbreaks of durjoy datta. for once you might wonder why somebody would be interested in reading about the author's love life. well, he's cute!! and a young achiever!! hmmm... so when i started the book i was bored to death. story is supposedly written by neeti rustagi, his friend. durjoy datta starts from his school crush, goes on to college affairs, to his office and his school of management. the explains himself at every point that he is not a bad person. he is just thoroughly confused about the choices n life! he goes out to find true love every time but it eventually ends up being a fling. and when he finds true love he is a fool enough to let it slip out of his hands. but he is just lucky to get her back and gets his happily ever after.
for the girls who are interested, i would like to tell you that durjoy datta constantly denies that the book is entirely about his life. in his own words, neeti ruatagi is a good story teller so what she writes should not be believed!!
durjoy datta turns out to be a regular character that you would see in your college canteen. it is kept very real in he has not been portrayed as a god in human body. that is what i like about the character. the book is very boring in the beginning. he is a nerd who could hardly grab any girl's attention. the story gets interesting when the new girl called Manika enters his life and he changes for good. the writer ends the book on a very hopeful note that somewhere somebody is made for you. to find him you need to keep bumping into wrong people!! the book is a train journey read. when you finish it you will have a smile on your face. this book again is not a literary wonder by durjoy datta. but yet again it does have few good hilarious and emotional moments like every book by the author.
i would give this book 2 and half - 3 stars. if you are saturated from reading a heavy duty book then this one is the right book you should be reading. go ahead. give it a try. but do not expect it to be a war and peace!! ciao!!
ahh... i am still trying to understand and am digesting the fact there was some relation b/w title and the content but i lost my all hopes. i started reading this book just for fun not for some fantastic and classic reading. i am new to reading world so i would just say it was just a random book that helped me when cable was gone or my freinds were sleepy. i would say its kind of masala book.
I've had the misfortune of reading this book.Basically if author's intention was to make the reader hate him vehemently he has succeeded. It's full of cliches and unimaginative situations. But what's most disturbing was the cheapness and shallowness of the protagonist. The book mostly plays out like a random episode of Californication.I mean really??Did the author actually think that any serious reader is going to like the hero and the book itself??The book has no soul at all.I truly felt disgusted after reading this book. The protagonist of this book (which truly is the author)as many times he admits himself is a total wannabe and really a weakling while taking comfort in the whim that other people around him wants to be like him. There is no strength of character to be found anywhere.Truly even if 50% of what is written about the hero is true he's the worst person I have ever known and I'm not even exaggerating.
This is the first book by the author that i read and became his fan,the way he portrays his character and there psychology to the reader is simply brilliant, the story is all about what happens today and its a good book to read by today's youth.
Apart From A Few Grammatical Mistakes... Though The Writer Has Specified About The Grammatical Mistakes In His Book Through A Character... Reading This book Has Been A Pleasure... :))) I Found It Better Than " Revolution 2020 " Of Chetan Bhagat... This Book Is Much Better On The Storytelling... I Had Goosebumps Towards the end of the Story... True Love Prevails... A Thumbs Up To " Ohhh Yes I Am Single " Now keen to read Durjoy's Earlier books...
There is not much to add here. The author clearly has no imagination. all his novels are poorly written and the stories end up being a drag. Buying this book is spending money on a product long after its expiry. Disappointed!
wow an amazing book by durjoy! Witty, fun and new aged love story with those cranky one liners, romantic masala and all the ingredients necessary for the making of a fun and romantic love story! :)
1.5 Stars ‘Apart from accompany my sister to raves and see her getting kissed by raging perverts, I am a journalist,’she said.
Who on earth introduces themselves like that? It's quite a deviant way. Manika's account to Joy about seeing her sister make out with a black bouncer and get kissed by raging perverts was upsetting. She mentioned that her sister would be going into rehab the next day and wanted one last night out, so she had to come with her. It's incredibly irresponsible and bizarre to think that, despite her sister's already deteriorating condition, she believed one more night of chaos was acceptable.
I kept joining dozens of fictional computer courses to fund my spending on her. Mom used to think I was getting serious about life. Yes, I was getting serious about my life, it being Manika.
I empathized with Joy's mother and felt bad for her here, witnessing her son's actions for a girl he would inevitably betray and cheat on. Meanwhile, Sidharth, Joy's friend, displayed obnoxious behavior often losing his temper and he called Ganesh, who resorted to violence brutally beating Aman, Vaani's ex-boyfriend, as revenge for betrayal. It was only after Aman's father informed Sidharth's father about the incident that he decided to turn his life around and make his parents proud. He became serious about his studies and eventually earned the scholarship he had been longing for. His relationship with Liss also began to flourish thereafter. While Sidharth started off as a jerk, his character arc evolved nicely through these events, ultimately surpassing Joy's development.
I was fat, dark and ridiculously ugly. Like. Totally. Ugly. It was as if God had something against me.
The exaggerated aspect is how a guy who portrayed himself in such a negative light, who stammered and belittled himself, magically transformed and became effortlessly charming with girls, adopting a playboy persona—all of this happening after his meeting with Sarah.
‘C’mon. Now don’t start with that. I am already very guilty about it and I don’t want to revisit that time again. I really meant no harm. It just happened,’ he said.
Joy's words shows a deep sense of remorse for having cheated on Maneeka, yet there is an underlying defensiveness in his tone with a complex mix of shame and denial.
All the attention just got to me. I had always been on the sidelines before, ignored and forgotten, and the little attention I got, I couldn’t handle it; I screwed up. I couldn’t resist the temptation. I cheated on her.
This book left me with a pronounced distaste for Joy, whose actions were devoid of loyalty and integrity & in the search of true love, he screwed when he got one which he himself considered an everlasting love. I found myself frustrated by Joy's actions, particularly his decision to divulge every intimate detail of his sex life & romantic encounters to Neeti. It was tasteless, especially when he mentioned making out with a girl in the men's washroom. Like seriously? Also, Neeti often saying "Aww" during her conversations with Joy was cringeworthy every time I read it. In both "Hold My Hand" and this book, both the MCs initially belittled themselves and weren't much confident but here the issue here was that Joy had a perverse mindset and acted like a moron.
It has been quite a long time that after Chetan Bhagat, another author manages to keep the spelling and grammatical mistakes to the bare minimum level, which happens to be a mandatory pre-requisite for writing a book. So, no appreciation there. The story was another one as expected, same boy-girl drama, which we have been coming across since our childhood. Nothing great there too. Durjoy Dutta, Being a Bengali, and reading many Bengali authors, expectations from him was fairly high and guess what, he failed badly, as most of “trying-to-start-a-new-wave” authors does. Also it was a joint effort and better result was expected when two heads were working on the same. At one time it was like why I am reading what you did, how you screwed yours and someone’s life, but I somehow did manage to finish it. The protagonist in the book was very much exaggerated, how fat he used to be & how slim is he now, how badly he used to stammer & how fluent is he now, easy-going was he with girls and giving him a playboy image was quite stereotype. Who cares all these, and keeping those to he lowest possible level would have been nice. Neeti Rustagi, “Aw, so sweet.” Do you even know that repeating this sentence at least ten times has rooted incurable form of diabetes in me, I hate so much sweetness! Rest nothing new, same goes for you as it went for Durjoy. Although you managed to treat the book well adding a conversation part at the end of each chapter, that’s nice. Also the raw language and the tickling part cold have been reduced a bit, where they were not required. Not a huge success, although I would love to read the other book(if given free of cost) which the writer has managed to advertise in this one…
first of all i like the names which increases your eagerness that what will be so different in this book, can say author has knows the exact nerve of people or can say e knows how to attract someone towards his novel.I heard alot thing about author and his writing skills so i opt out his novel to read it out but i found it much a normal story.i expected alot but there is nothing new in it except the ability of a character to fall in love numerous times.though characters are portrayed well, even the feeling is near to the pitch but somehow the storyline is not upto the mark where you can feel wow!now this is something good..i like the conversation between two authors as readers can also communicate in that conversation mentally.m looking forward to read other books of durjoy, because i think there is something hidden in his stories in every book which he cant narrate.
If there was an option for 0/5 star Read this in high school and I don't know if there's anything worse than this book. Honestly the rating surprises me 😂
I read this book for two reasons - first was to read at least one book by Durjoy Dutta (and the last it surely will be) and the second was to just pass my time wishing to steer my direction towards a light read. But it went beyond just a light read. It was BORING as hell. There was just crap in the entire book. The same old story of making and breaking relationships between modern day guy and girl. And how come a single person have so many relationships. Does every other guy or girl walking on the street that you meet is destined to be your girlfriend/boyfriend ? Okay I might be looking at this thing a way too harshly but still this isn't an excuse to enjoy the boring details of the author falling in and out of love so regularly. I almost left the book half read but that is not what I like doing. I sighed with relief on finishing this book and sure as hell will not waste my precious money and time on Durjoy's waste books.
Flight delayed by 4 hours??? what worst can happen to you? Well...you can walk to the book store at the airport and out of all the books available, you pick this book, hoping for a witty, light novel.
This is hands down the worst book i have ever read. And let me tell you, i have read 'One night at call centre'.
There are books that you proudly want to display in your book shelve. And here we have one that you would want to burn and have a good laugh. The idea itself gives me a sense of happiness.
This book is so lame, that i had to go through Durjoy Dutta's collection of books to recall it's name, so that i can review it...Oh maybe i am lame.
But this is srsly not worth a read even if it's available for free. Even if someone pays you to read it. Stay away or you'll regret.
The writing skill of Durjoy Dutta is real a shh|t!! The book seemed to b interesting till 100th page or could say Till before Interval... later wazz screwed whole night Reading it:-( The interruption dat waz made by NEETI RUSTAGI was really irritating n i alwayzz skipped that scrap.)
To be true.. it happened 4 d first time, dat i had to count the pages remaining and unwillingly completd the whole book!! It wazz really a boring Love Story... n i also wud lyk to say dat Durjoy Dutta cant exctract fun from the little things as done by the Chetan Bhagat and other fiction writers.
My first novel from durjoy's catalogue. Was pretty much cool in description, sometimes cocky but wasn't too much close to 'Real Love' thing throughout the novel. Writing style has been pretty impressive and specially the way he insults or 'doesn't gives a Damn'.
overall a fine work, a indifferent style of writing this novel by changing the narrators.
227 pages of bullshit, there is no content in the book, nothing unusual in narrating style also, only there is some obscene they might expect readers feel some fun, even that also not done well by this idiots, worst book I had ever read, first time I feel like I want to have a fast reading mode like in tape records!, entirely this book is soulless, I wasted my time reading this bull shit
This book is about the author's life. He narrates it to his friend, while she interacts with the incidents which happened in the course of his life, mostly concentrating on his love life and his relationships. Worth reading once. But still not as good as his first book "Of course I love you".
i am still trying to understand and am digesting the fact there was some relation b/w title and the content but i lost my all hopes. i started reading this book just for fun not for some fantastic and classic reading. It's full of cliches and unimaginative situations. Not recommended.
As I am a big fan of Durjoy Datta, I Bought this book soon it released. I must say, first half of the book was awesome i liked it very much but in second half it disappoints me as par my expectations.
A Nice break from some serious books. The narrative story keeps you gripped somewhat. But as they say everything excess is bad. So was the sex part in it. But overall a cute book.
