Virulent: Stories

Rate this book
Virulent: Stories is a collection of short stories that take place within the world of Virulent: The Release. It is part of the Virulent trilogy. Virulent: Stories goes back and visits Release Day from the points of view of Salem, Darla, Maxine.

We also meet a newscaster taking the anchor desk for the first time, a veterinarian overwhelmed and inundated with mourning pet owners, and an AWOL soldier working for the Elektos Corporation.

Each of these stories work together to paint a broader picture of what the world was like on the day of the Release. While the stories can stand alone, they are intended to be read after Book 1 in the Virulent series.

If you read & enjoyed Virulent: Release, you will enjoy Virulent Stories. The author said to think of it like 1.5 in the trilogy.

This was one of my favorite trilogies last year, and it was fun to revisit the day of the release of the virus and see what some of the other characters where doing that day. Darla's story was a good one - but my favorite was Maxine's Story (Lucy's mom). Her mom seemed like a rather cold, regimented woman in the 1st book - but here we get to see her dawning realization that something is terribly wrong - and her panic when her 2 oldest children are not with them. As a mom, I could feel for her.

I recommend this book, as part of the Virulent trilogy, to fans of apocalyptic fiction.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.Although I haven't read the first book in the series i enjoyed this story and felt connected to these characters.I purchased the first book in the series and can't wait to read it.I want to see how these characters lives connect and how they manage to survive in a world devastated by a flu pandemic.I recommend this book to any fan of the post apocalyptic/dystopian genre.

This was a pretty good YA apocalyptic story. It kept my attention and I thought that the reader did a good job as well. I hoped that the 2nd book to this trilogy was available, but it's not.
