This is a very good, though short book about maritime warfare on the Maine coast during the American Revolutionary War. It is told mostly from the perspective of the reviled British sea captain Lt. Henry Mowat, promoted to captain after the war. It gives a good overview of the burning of Falmouth (Portland), Maine and the events leading up to that event. It also goes into detail about the failed Penobscot Expedition which was the largest Naval defeat of the Americans in the war and led to the destruction of all Massachusetts naval ships. The book is a solid read for anyone looking for information on and under studied theatre of the American Revolution.
