Money will only get you so far in a town that pays its debts in blood.

When Sophia Roberts lost one of the only people she has ever loved, Stirling Alden helped her pick up the pieces. They were inseparable until she tried to return the favor, only to have him break her heart instead. Things between them were never the same.
As the daughter of Millhaven’s district attorney, Sophia maintains the image of a well-bred socialite. But perfection comes with a price, and her happiness might be the cost.
Growing up destined to follow in his father’s footsteps, Stirling knows his place: stay in the shadows and provide cyber security to The Society without asking questions. But, in the wake of the death of the organization’s leader tensions are mounting, and the chance to bring the whole thing crashing down from the inside might finally be presenting itself.
Dragged to a cottage by their friends, where Sophia and Stirling share small moments of reconnection, he remembers how much sunlight she brought to his dark days. As her life starts to unravel around her, can Stirling help bring her back to the light, or will her flame be extinguished forever?

This is a twisted dark romance that explores the agony of secrets and the kind of love that burns up in flames.

4 stars.

I feel so lucky to know Cassy and get to read her books. Watching her grow as an author has been such a joy, and this is easily her strongest writing yet. The story feels darker, more emotionally layered, and you can really see her confidence on the page. Just be sure to check the trigger warnings because this one definitely raises the stakes.

Stirling and Sophia completely won me over. Their journey was messy, painful, and so worth rooting for. I was hooked from start to finish.

The world of Millhaven has expanded so much and the new players left me with so many questions.

My only wish is that we had gotten just a little more time with them in their happiness. It felt like they finally found peace, got to be together and healthy… and then bam that cliffhanger.

Now I’m just sitting here impatiently waiting for the next book.

I didn’t think I could love book 2 as much as book 1 but here we are. I am completely obsessed with these characters in millhaven and cannot wait for the next. My only complaint is that I want more!

This book shattered me. In the best and worst ways.
I was captivated from the moment I picked it up.

If you were impressed by Cassie's debut novel, prepare to be blown away by the emotional depth and maturity of her sophomore release.

Torment of Light is beautiful and raw, devastating and heartbreaking. It's the kind of novel that lingers long after you've turned the final page (I’m still thinking about it a month later). Cassie has created beautifully complex, diverse characters and woven a crushing story of love, trauma, and survival that will have you loving and hating both Sophia and Sterling at the same time.

As one of the lucky readers who had the privilege of receiving an advance copy, I have one warning: be prepared to lose sleep. Once you start, it's nearly impossible to put down. And when you reach the end? Brace yourself for another agonizing cliffhanger in the Millhaven saga.

The urgency I felt to keep turning the pages mirrored Sophia and Sterling's relationship itself. Intense, consuming, heartbreaking, and filled with longing. My only complaint is that the book ended. I wanted more. I need book three already.

If that's not the sign of a five-star read, I don't know what is. Don't miss Torment of Light. You won't regret picking it up... but your heart just might.

Soooo…I finished this book in one sitting. Literally cracked it open around 5pm and stayed up until about 1am to finish. I couldn’t put it down! While I was certainly a fan of Callum and Scarlett’s journey in Vincent’s first instalment of the Millhaven series, let me tell you…this one far surpasses the first. She has elevated her storytelling skills immensely with Torment of Light and Sophia and Stirling’s journey through insurmountable trauma, lasting heartbreak, emotional damage, toxic secrets, and finally, sweet but painful redemption is so beautifully depicted throughout this novel that the only criticism I have for their story is that the book wasn’t longer. They are my favourite couple in this series, so far, and I cannot wait to see what Vincent brings to Millhaven’s world in future seasons. Also…ending on a cliffhanger is not usually my cup of tea but this one was masterfully executed and while I’m left wanting to know what comes next, I am also wholly satisfied with the culmination of the novel. A rare accomplishment in literature.

I was lucky enough to be chosen to step back into the twisted world of Millhaven, and let me tell you—it did not disappoint. If you thought the relationship between Callum and Scarlett was sweeping, Stirling and Sophia’s is nothing short of legendary.

From the moment I started reading, I was hooked and completely immersed in their story, unable to put the book down. Cass’s writing is polished and expertly controlled, with twists and turns that had me devouring every page.

This book will take you on an emotional rollercoaster, evoking sympathy, anger, disgust, and sadness, while also delivering hope, happiness, and love. Stirling and Sophia’s journey is far from easy, but watching them find their way to each other was worth every second.

This is a must-read for 2026.

An explosive and captivating second installment from Cassy Vincent, bringing readers back to Millhaven and its mysterious and dangerous Secret Society.

This story follows Stirling and Sophia as they navigate a deeply emotional journey through shared trauma, buried secrets, healing, and the strength of an unbreakable bond.

Vincent masterfully elevates her storytelling in this installment, with richer character development and vivid scene-setting that bring the world of Millhaven to life. The depth and insight she gives her characters make them feel incredibly authentic, making it impossible not to become emotionally invested in their journey and eager to see what comes next!!

ARC REVIEW

This book is torment and yearning and broken all combined. I screamed, I cried, I wished, I grieved and I loved. Cassy writes trauma in a way that wakes you up and makes you want to listen. Don’t expect pretty in this book. Expect pain and sadness, but also hope.

"Tu es mea ruins." - Stirling

This book is amazing! Stirling and Sophia's story had me in tears. Sophia and Stirling are well crafted couple. Morally grey doesn't compare to these 2. The society is next...

Torment of Light by Cassy Vincent

Book Review : 5 ⭐️
Spice Level : 3.5 🌶️

Guys, to say I’m obsessed with this story is an understatement.
I want to say Thank you to Cassy for trusting me to be apart of her team and for the opportunity to be a BETA reader for her. 🖤

This book absolutely shattered my heart and slowly pieced it back together again.

Sophia and Stirling have been through so much, and watching their story unfold was an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish. Sophia broke my heart in ways I wasn’t expecting. Beneath the perfect image everyone sees is a young woman carrying far more than she should have to, and I found myself rooting for her every step of the way.

And Stirling? I adored him. His unwavering love, loyalty, and need to protect Sophia had me completely obsessed. The way he stood by her, even when everything was falling apart, made him impossible not to love.

The emotional moments in this book hit hard. There were scenes that left my chest aching and others that had me desperately hoping these two would finally find their way through the darkness together. Their relationship felt raw, complicated, and incredibly real.

Cassy Vincent has a way of writing characters that crawl under your skin and refuse to leave. Torment of Light is filled with secrets, heartbreak, healing, and a love story that burns bright even in the darkest moments.

Stirling and Sophia own a permanent place in my heart. 🖤

Cassy Vincent has done it again with the second book in the Millhaven series.

Following the inner thoughts of both Stirling and Sophia, readers are immersed in raw, real emotion.
Torment of Light highlights how deeply our past shapes who we become. Trauma is only the beginning of each character’s journey.
Buckle up — Vincent doesn’t hold back.

This book was both beautiful and heartbreaking. It had me feeling every emotion alongside the characters, and I found it impossible to put down. I wish I could experience reading it for the first time all over again, but until then, I can’t wait for book 3.
