Laura was a self-certified couch potato. Until six years ago she couldn’t run for more than a few minutes at a time. Since then she has completed eight marathons and is now a committed triathlete. But Laura couldn’t have achieved what she has without her mentor and friend Katie. A life-long runner, fair-weather cyclist, and born-again swimmer, the more experienced Katie helped Laura through the ups and downs of training for a triathlon. Their triathlon journey gave them the opportunity to break boundaries while forging a life-long friendship. Tricurious tells Laura’s and Katie’s story, with energy and humour. Filled with anecdotes and advice about the trials and tribulations of preparing for a triathlon, this inspiring book will leave you hungry to experience the joy (and pain) of swim, bike, run.
If I didn't swim like a rock, I think this book might actually convince me to give triathlons a go. This is a funny, yet informative, tale of two women's adventures in the world of triathlons. very inspirational stuff, and a great read!
These gals are absolutely hilarious to read! I felt like I was sitting down with a girl friend hearing personal stories about their experiences with a few down to earth coaching tips rather than a play by play here's how to do it dry training book. I'm right at the start of training for my first tri. Like getting swim lessons before anything (Lord knows the panic that will happen in my first open water) and these ladies are so encouraging about their process and experiences with triathlon.
Second reading and just as good a read on repeat - almost enough to make me want to try triathlon, though that would need a lot of swim training. Refreshing to read about sport from a female perspective and the can-do attitude of Katie and Laura is infectious and hilarious. Check out Laura’s blog and Instagram for more real life inspiration.
Good book for beginners and those looking into getting into triathlon (like me). It could use some photography and images to explain some of the concepts in the book. If you are knowledgeable in one of the sports some sections may be less interesting. I did like all the race reports and the tips. There was a lot I didn't know. A
I really enjoyed this book - part informational guide, part entertaining personal tale, it was super inspiring. Almost makes me want to do a triathlon (never mind the fact that I haven't even reached this year's goal of running a half marathon yet 😅)
This book kinda reminded me that I need to leave off the cycling every now and then for something else, even if I'm not going to go do a huge triathlon
What an awesome read! Such a fresh change from the triathlon books I have read - not about their lives so much as their experiences - not about people thoughts but real life - love it! Not a training book per se but many notable tips about triathlon told in hard learnt, humerous ways.! Thank you for writing this Laura and Katie. Feels like I have known you for years and you are great friends.
