She's a woman in need of a hero. Unfortunately, all she has is him.
Growing up in an orphanage, Maggie Bishop learned to never depend on anyone — except her sister, Mary. When Mary disappears after becoming a mail-order bride, Maggie suspects foul play and desperately needs help. But there’s a problem: The one person she can trust is the one person she despises most.
No woman in Beckham is immune to ‘Handsome Hank’ Blue’s considerable charms. Except for the beautiful, aloof and exasperating Maggie Bishop. The last time he spoke to her, he walked away with a handprint on his cheek! But Hank has bigger fish to fry.
Nearly two years have passed since he vowed to discover the secret of the evil men who eventually ruined the family business, and he isn’t any closer now than he was back then. So when Maggie tells him they are at the center of her sister’s disappearance, he jumps at the chance to uncover their dastardly plot.
As they search for her sister, Maggie discovers there’s more to Hank than just his pretty face and even prettier words. Only after Maggie is kidnapped does Hank realize there are more important things in life than vengeance. Will he rescue her before she’s lost forever or is he already too late?

Cassie Hayes grew up pretending she was Laura Ingalls (before that pesky Almonzo arrived on the scene) in the middle of Oregon farm country. She lives with her husband and cat on the Pacific Ocean and loves to hear from her readers.
I've read a couple of the others in this series and found them rough but somewhat charming. Maybe they were better or maybe I was just in the right mood before, because this one didn't do much for me.
What a great start to this series! Can't wait to read the next one. I think you should keep doing this. And to know this problem still exists today! Great job!
Maggie and her Mary grew up in The Children's Home, in Beacham, Massachusetts. Now that Mary is 21she needs to leave the orphanage.
She is to marry Thaddeus in St. Louis. She leave by train to go to St. Louis. She promised Maggie to let her know she reached St. Louis. But she hasn't heard from Mary after 6 weeks.
Maggie feels something is wrong. And asks for help from the Blue family. The Blue family loan has been called and they don't have the funds to pay it off. But the Father says yes to help Maggie find Mary. But she needs to travel by train with Hank.
Hank and Maggie know something isn't right with 3 Deacons, Smith, Bellaforte & Jackson, but have no proof.
There is so much more to this story and I don't want say more.
You need to read this book. Will they live to find Mary and will there be love?
Cassie Hayes writes well. I hope you enjoy this book!
Although #5 in the series, can be read as a stand alone. This is a clean romance. I'm sorry to say I paid a dollar for this on Amazon.
So it wasn't totally bad, hence the 2 stars. The story would have been a lot better in the hands of a more talented author.
The H/h are only ok. The heroine is a feisty orphan who is on the verge of aging out of the orphanage. The hero is a flirty ladies man, who needs to prove to the heroine he's serious about her.
The main story has the town's female orphans (when they reach a certain age) being tricked & taken out of town where they're sold to the flesh market. Our heroine is not tricked, but she's still kidnapped. The hero saves the day.
The HEA is tainted IMO by the lack of any action on the part of the H/h. They want to prove the town deacons are dirty, but they don't contact the U S Marshalls or anybody. The implication is the slavers are free to continue selling young women. Disappointing....
THIS STORY HAD ALL KIND OF POTENTIAL FOR PLOT DEVELOPMENT BUT that pretty much died when Maggie found her sister. Up to that point it appeared that character development was going strong but that came to a schreeching halt at the same point. It seemed as though Ms. Hayes merely wanted to finish her series and from that point on, it was just a fast rush to the finish.
The last chapter of The Drifter's Mail-Order Bride introduced readers to the three Blue brothers, this is the story of Hank and Maggie. It includes Thaddeus Slade from Kit Morgan s Clear Creek books. It's compelling and exciting yet awful to realize that woman have been historically used for sex trafficking.
Classie Hayes has written this book very well. It is book five of the Dalton Brides. This book is about the sisters brother Hank. How his love, Maggie want to look for her sister, and about how they were going to be sold into to slavery. An enjoyable read
I enjoyed the authors tale of goo against evil, the characters in the story of adventure and suspense are caught up in a story of evil characters and romance.
I've been reading this series in order and have enjoyed all of the stories. This one has a strong woman, Maggie, who's in some trouble trying to find her sister. Hank agrees to help her. Like others in this series, this is a sweet (not steamy) historical romance. This one had more rescuing involved which added some intrigue. I enjoyed the characters and liked getting an update on the Blue sisters to see how they're doing. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
I enjoyed this book. Hank loves Maggie but is too dumb to realize it. When she comes to him for help he reluctantly agrees to help her find her sister, Mary. Maggie lived in an orphanage and us just about to age out. The proprietor has made arrangements for her to marry. She is very concerned because her sister gadget six weeks earlier and she had not heard from her. While waiting to leave with Hank to find her sister, Catherine tells her a secret, she's going to be married to a relative of Deacon Smith. The groom's name is Thaddius. Her sister was marrying a Thaddius a nd she was to marry a Thaddius. Maggie began to think something was wrong and her and Hank decided to take a train to St. Louis t o look for Mary and to keep an eye on Catherine while traveling. When they stop for zero meal Catherine and Maggie are kidnapped. Hank realizes what has happened as he sees Maggie's ribbon hanging outside the covered wagon as it passes by. I don't want to give away what happens or why they were kidnapped. I believe you will enjoy this book. Read it to find out what happens.
A Very Dramatic Story About Three Organs . This Story was very well written. Very Sad but ended with A Lot of Family Love. These young girls went though so much. And then A Happy Ending Shirley Ketcham
