Books are mre than they seem

I never wanted to read this series.it kept popping up on lists with my favorite books but i skipped it until it was the only one i had not read so i bought a copy of the first novel.it sat on my bookshelf for over a year.i mean, its about a girl who is the grim reaper who i later find out hangs out with the son of satan.right? I love books with vampires and i gave shifters a chance and they grew on me,i grew up with the fae being awesome but i have to draw the line somewhere.this sounds really dumb.i will be honest,i ran out of stuff to read and started this series.after the first one i ran to the library and got the next two then had to buy this box set because the library didn't have anymore. I was hooked.i love charley.i want to be her friend.she talks like i do and people usually dont get that kind of humor.she is great and always into something.she doesnt listen to people and makes things worse for her but better for us because the story gets better.and she is kinda dating the son of Satan but doesnt seem to admit it to herself.the grim reaper thing was done well. The storyline was great and characters very likeable.the story is addictive.every book charley grows as a person and learns more about herself. She has family problems, like you would if you were the grim reaper.she works with cops and talks to dead people.i loved this series and there is lots of action, usually avoidable if charley would have listened to someone.she has a close group of friends to help her though not all of them are willing friends. She tends to annoy people and show up at their houses at odd hours. In these books she actually sees and talks to demons. I cant believe i didn't want to read these books, they are my new favorites and i went through 12 in a week.

The Charley Davidson series is a funny and lighthearted urban fantasy series with a FMC that is sarcastic, witty, and doesn't take herself too seriously -- even though she's seriously powerful. Each book has several murder mysteries she's trying to solve by utilizing her unique perspective as the Grim Reaper who can interact with the dead. There is a larger over-arcing plot that progresses throughout the series as well.

Books four to six in the series still have the same fun characters, but what's nice is that at this point in the series the characters are familiar and the stories have a distinct pattern without being predictable.

At this point in the series these are truly safe comfort reads. If you've got this far in the series you'll still be loving the characters and how they grow together and separately.

I love the relationships that form and flourish, the characters are so lovable, the mysteries are fun, and the over-arcing plot is intriguing.

Such a Fun Series

I love finding a new character whose smart-assery rivals my own. Often with series that continue on as long as this one (which is REALLY a very good thing), I get bored of the steamy scenes after awhile as they just seem to get repetitive... Reyes and Charley’s are so well written that my eye rolls are for an entirely different reason.

Honestly, Darynda Jones has an amazing imagination, it would be interesting to take a tour in there... BTW, I truly think we need a Reyes Farrow cookbook - I salivate with all the food descriptions. Once pandemic hell is over, I think I need to take a food vaykay to New Mexico...

I am loving this series. Saw it for a while when browsing for my next read but always passed it up. Boy was that a mistake. Love the characters, love the writing style, love the whole premise! I quess, in a way it was good I waited because there are a lot to catch up on reading that are currently all available. However, they are sooo entertaining, I am flying through the books and will so be up to date and then have to wait for another installment. The wait will be worth it! I want a Reyes!

Very good book series. You can read each book as a stand alone but suggest you read from the first book and on. I especially love the little chapter title quotes. The characters are very comical and heroic. Every book is a page turner. You will come to love these characters like i have. I highly recommend this series to all my friends and family.

Exceptional

The story plot is like nothing I have read before, there are distinct differences between the characters and the story line flows but also you never know what will happen next. Delightful and entertaining to a whole other degree.

Nice entertaining. Just don’t read the series all at once. Charley gets a bit annoying after you read a lot, so z break is nice

Three more fun, action-filled novels with Charley Davidson, grim reaper (not very grim) and P.I. on the loose. She's chummy with an FBI Special Agent. She solves case with and for the dead. She has a ghost dog who protects her against that sort of threat. And attitude? Lots.

Without getting more specific, it's hard to say much as any specifics give away the enjoyable surprises in the earlier books. This omnibus contains books 4-6, i.e. Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet, Fifth Grave Past the Light and Sixth Grave on the Edge. As before, the advantage of not having to wait for or hunt around for the next book is clear.

Treat yourself but definitely start with the first book - First Grave on the Right, whether in an omnibus collection or as a separate book. The order of these books definitely matters, and it's worth it to read them in the correct sequence.
