In the shadow of a stolen life, she is the only light left.

Emily Jacobs is ten years old.

Dropped into the cold, unforgiving world of an orphanage, Emily is told the lies that break spirits: Your mother is dead. You have no history. This is your life now. Get used to it.

But Emily knows better. She still has her memories from her life with her mother, and she has the locket her mother gave her. At night when the moon shines brightly in the sky, Emily thinks of her mother and how she used to call her "my little moonbeam." It helps her to stay strong just like her mother taught her.

Emily moves through the difficult surroundings of her new life, trying to 'learn' all the rules and be a good girl, but the things she witnesses and must endure start to build something within her.

As the days go on, it seems less and less likely that her mother will be coming to rescue her, and it may all be up to Emily to rescue herself, and the thirty other girls living at the orphanage with her.

The Sisters might have a lot of power, but Emily must decide if she is willing to fight to keep her name or give up and fall into the darkness around her.

About the author

Lennea Rose

3 books5 followers
Lennea Rose is a historical fiction author who writes tender, atmospheric stories set in the forgotten corners of the past. Her work is shaped by dusty‑rose nostalgia, emotional depth, and a fascination with the quiet strength found in life’s most fragile moments. She is drawn to the intimate, often overlooked details of the past. The letters tucked into drawers, the secrets carried in lockets, the memories that linger in the soft spaces between heartache and hope.

Her stories begin with a feeling: a whisper of loneliness, a flicker of courage, a longing for belonging. From there, she builds worlds filled with resilience, found family, and characters who carry both their wounds and their wonder with quiet grace. Through her writing, she explores the threads that connect the past and present, reminding readers that even in the darkest chapters, there is always a glimmer of light.

Her debut novel is the first in a trilogy of mystery, memories, and the emotional echoes of the past. Writing as Lennea Rose allows her to create a dedicated space for these tender, haunting stories. A world where dusty‑rose memories and fragile hope intertwine. She believes the past still has something to teach us, especially about love, loss, and hope.
