There is something particularly exciting about discovering a debut novel that feels as though it has been written by an author who has been doing this for years, and that was exactly my experience with A Snow Storm in June by RMG Parker.

This dark and gripping crime thriller weaves together multiple points of view and seemingly separate storylines, gradually revealing how everything connects. RMG Parker handles the complexity of the plot with confidence, building tension steadily as the mystery unfolds.

The Scottish setting is one of the novel's greatest strengths. From Edinburgh to the landscapes of south-west Scotland, every location feels authentic and vividly realised, creating a strong sense of atmosphere throughout.

This is a gritty story of organised crime, corruption and secrets, with plenty of twists and surprises along the way. Despite the scale of the plot, the characters remain at the heart of the story, keeping me invested from beginning to end.

An accomplished and compelling debut that introduces an exciting new voice in Scottish crime fiction. A well-deserved five stars from me.

Beautifully presented book, great font and layout. The named, short chapters keep you reading and it's easy to follow the complex storyline. Would have liked more about the unique setting, it feels like events could have happened anywhere. Ending sets up for another book...
