Introduction - His Rules A Ludlow Nights Story - Number 1 in New Series
Ambitious, workaholic Anastacia Morgan runs Ferranti Communications with a cool-head and an iron will. Her latest project is ensuring sports star Olivier Conti does what he's told in a series of adverts. Olivier is impossible with a huge ego she's more than able to handle. His smile may do wonderful things to her libido, but Ana is determined to succeed where other women fail and resist the gorgeous soccer star. However, in this game there are no rules and Olivier's never missed scoring a penalty, yet.
CC MACKENZIE is a USA Today bestselling author of twenty-eight novels. Readers have dubbed her books, “made me laugh and made me cry” “hot” “page turners”. If you meet CC in the flesh you should call her Christine.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review
I feel in love with the Ludlow Series a couple of years ago when I first downloaded Reckless Nights in Rome and I've been an avid follower ever since so I was really excited when I heard there was going to be a new series of books coming out, and I wasn't disappointed. Nico and Bronte spend time with us again in this story and it's nice to reconnect with couples we've fallen in love with.
I loved Anastacia and Olivier. Like all of CC's heroines she had spunk! Olivier reminded me soo much of Nico sometimes I must admit I wanted to reach into the book and smack some sense into him, but through it all you just know his hearts in the right place, his machismo just gets in his way sometimes. I laughed each time she put him in his place as I pictured a puzzled expression on his face while he tried to figure out what he'd said wrong this time!
Anastacia faced some very difficult times growing up and it's made her a very strong woman. There were a couple of scenes that brought me to tears as she came face to face with her past, I don't want to give away any spoilers so I'll leave it at that.
I really enjoyed this book, however, I was not prepared for the cliffhanger ending. It's not a true cliffhanger, but a little one as the story ends on a happy note, just not a complete one. I will be back for more books by this author as I thoroughly enjoy her work.
I was enticed by the premise and was looking forward to discovering a new author. Parts of this story showed great promise but overall, i was disappointed by the crowded cast, complicated plot line, and the constant descriptions.
More importantly, I despaired of the heroine. She was an unutterably unbelievable character and I couldn’t believe that anyone would like her let alone indulge her as everyone seemed to do. Almost to the last page, she behaved in a selfish, cruel and insensitive manner. For a woman whose career was so important to her, she frequently behaved in the most unprofessional way with Nico and Olivier.
The hero, Olivier was just fabulous and quite frankly I think he would be better off with someone more deserving and more supportive. Ana offered him nothing. Even at the end - she held back.
Finally, I hate, hate being left with an unexpected cliff-hanger. Apparently I need to read the next book to find out what really happens with Anastasia and Olivier. What a cheat. I am so angry because I had no idea that this was not a standalone book.
I enjoyed it enough, it moved at a nice pace and was a good easy read that I could plough through while I had a few hours spare. A few things that irked me were that if you’re going to set a book in London, make sure the Americanisms don’t slip in, as Europeans would never refer to football as “soccer” under any circumstances. And other minor things about football - which Milan team does he play for? Which “United” supposedly are playing at Wembley as their home ground (hint no one - Wembley is England’s national team ground)? The champions league final would also never be played on a Friday night. It used to be Wednesday until a few years ago when it got changed to a Saturday evening. That’s just because as an English person, this really annoys me but to most people it probably wouldn’t even have registered because it’s actually not a big deal- this is purely nitpicking. Like I said, I enjoyed it though! And would recommend.
I wasn't sure about this series because I really enjoyed her Ludlow Hall series, but this turned out to be a good book and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
Enjoyed this one as much as I've enjoyed CC Mackenzie's other books in the Ludlow Series. Looking forward to reading the next one...Her Rules. Sexual content! JudyE
I enjoyed this fast paced easy read with the obvious chemistry between Oliver and Ana although I found the clothing descriptions a little to much and to unnecessary at times. I am looking forward to reading more from this series
Anastacia worked as a brand manager for Nico Ferranti. When Nioco insists she use Olivier Conti the "footballer" in the next series of ads. She fights him every step of the way. Then she meets Olivier. She never thought she would be that turned on just by looking at a man. Olivier saw Anastacia and knew he wanted her. And not just for one night. Anastacia doesn't date clients, doesn't do relationships. Olivier informs her they are playing by his rules now.
Love the chemistry between Anastacia and Olivier. After after she had been through Anastacia keeps herself back from men. But there is something about Olivier that she has trouble resisting. Olivier is one of the exceptions to the rule. He isn't a player. At least not with women. He just needs to convince Anastacia that he is serious and she can trust him. Wonderful book in the Ludlow Nights series
I loved this book...it was so good! It continues on Her Rules. This is one of the best series out there period!!! I've read all the books until now. CC Mackenzie is a fantastic author I love her so much 🥰😁
