Terry C. Fry grew up on a farm. In 1952 he became a businessman. In 1961 he founded the Musical Heritage Society, a mail-order record club that specialized in Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and classical music. In 1970 he became a health educator active in the natural health movement. In 1976 he founded Health Sciences Institute and developed a health sciences course that was translated into several languages and adopted into the curriculum of the University of Paris. He published a magazine, “Healthful Living,” and various newsletters and books. He appeared on radio and television and lectured on health topics.
Having read "Inventing the AIDS Virus" (1995) by Peter Duesberg , who is mentioned several times in this book. I was more open to this information than I might have been when it was published in the 80s. Duesberg was one of the earliest researchers into AIDS and believed that it is/was environmentally caused, and not caused by a virus. Duesberg worked with Gallo (also mentioned in this book and who claims that HIV does cause AIDS). Gallo was later censured for stealing someone else's research and had some other ethical issues.
This book is actually a series of essays and published articles (and so it can appear repetitive) by a very intelligent author who, like Duesberg, does not believe that AIDS is caused by a virus, but rather by drugs - which suppress the immune system. Fry believes that AIDS in many instances is actually a stage of syphilis (which is convincing, given the matching symptoms), and in all instances is caused by legal and illegal drugs that depress the immune system.
Both Fry and Duesberg refer to Koch's postulates for the cause of diseases and, as the HIV virus does not meet the criteria for those, they are convinced that HIV does not cause AIDS.
This book asserts that AIDS is not new, that it was deliberately “concocted” from old diseases by the Centers for Disease Control and drug cartels. That it may be the third and fourth stages of syphilis under a new name. That it is not caused by a virus and is not contagious. Then what does cause it? “Drugs and poisons,” especially immunodestructive drugs. And why does it kill people? On page 69 it says, “Most of the deaths of so-called AIDS are from massive chemotherapy and drugs.” On page 91, “Almost all deaths attributed to AIDS are confirmed drug users.” On page 229, “Those who are dying of AIDS are those who are under medical care.”
These are radically unorthodox viewpoints that present the medical and pharmaceutical establishments, and their allies in the media, as profit-driven and corrupt. Perpetrating a hoax that “was begun as a simple campaign to wipe out the gay rights movement” and was expanded “to drive the whole population into the medical corral.”
Interesting opinions on viruses, vaccines, immunology, the germ theory, allergies, herpes genitalis, etc. “What are called viruses are always dead and incapable of any acts whatsoever. Dead matter may be acted upon but never acts of itself.” “Contagion is a myth—a medical appropriation of ancient misconceptions.” Antibodies—are they good or bad omens? Do they confer immunity or foretell doom?
Published in 1989, this book might not be up-to-date. The author is repetitive and inclined to exaggeration and oversimplification, but cannot be easily dismissed. I don’t know whether his arguments are valid or not, but they are worth considering. His book is conspiracy theory but has logic plausible enough to warrant further investigation. It offers a short and simple formula for recovering from what is called AIDS. See pages 252-253 of the 1989 edition.
