Family first...

To Drew Blake, happiness is very simple: Never want more than you have. Never risk what you're afraid to lose. And above all, never get attached. Outside of his family, there's nothing--and nobody--that Drew takes seriously. Except Meg, his best friend forever.

Your fight is my fight...

Meghan Wise doesn't do casual. She fights hard, she works hard and she falls hard. One kiss and she knew that Drew would be a man worth having. But more importantly? He'd be a friend worth keeping. Which meant no more kissing. Ever. It's a promise she's kept for eight long years, and with no regrets. Until a dead man shows up at happy hour, looking for a favor.

What we have we share...

A rootless childhood left Drew with lots of loose ends, abandoned friends and unpaid debts. So when an old friend--who isn't nearly as dead as Drew had been led to believe--walks into Drew's favorite bar looking for help, Drew's all over it. But the guy wants more than a favor. He wants Meg. And suddenly Drew's looking at his best friend in a whole new light...

...then love changes everything.

Kinda sad that there isn't a fourth Blake brother.

This one takes place 8 years after the novella/part 2. Drew and Meg have become best friends. Drew continues his work as a social media expert for athletes; Meg's a security consultant. They still have that interesting chemistry, but apparently nothing has happened since that awesome kiss 8 years ago.

Then one night Drew sees Ian, a long lost friend who he thought was dead. Ian is now E and we learn about Drew's past and how it's coming back to bite him. We also learn that happy go lucky Drew has issues in his past - they're not as deep as Will's issues (thank God), but they're intense just the same. And, for someone who's quick to throw out a marriage proposal if someone will make him eggs, he's completely a fish out of water when it comes to falling in love. I found this book to be the most emotional for some reason, despite the corporate espionage/thriller/sociopathic story.

Where I was disappointed was with Meg's side of the story. Since we see a lot of her family in the novella, I was hoping to learn what/how she repaired her relationship with her family, if at all. And I still don't get Clara.

There needs to be a novella about Jillian!

Time for Trouble is book three in the Blake Brothers Boxed set by Susan Sey. The book is undoubtedly the best of the three. I simply could not put it down.
Andrew Blake is the third Blake brother and the youngest. He was ten when their parents were killed in an accident. Will gave up his hopes of college to work on James’s career in soccer. The two older boys kept the family together. Drew made his own place, one of not causing any problems. Everyone loved Drew and thought he could do no wrong. Drew, however, was a hacker and through hacking connected with Ian Sheffield, another hacker. The two of them got together and caused trouble. Ian got them involved with the Ukranians and one evening, Drew watched as Ian was gunned down. Now Ian is back, alive and well. What happened that night? What does Ian want now?
Drew and Meghan Wise have grown close over the years- as best friends. Now they are brought together by Ian and his new job. They break into the offices of NOVD and distract Valor while Ian does something. Meg is concerned about what Ian did and how much trouble they could get into. Trouble is definitely brewing. Trouble with Ian and trouble between Drew and Meg. You never know what will happen next.

This is the 3rd book in the Blake Brothers series. There are actually 3.5 books on the series. 2.5 is a novella. These are well written books about the Blake brothers, Will, James and Drew. The women that capture their love and their meaning of family. Throw in some drama and a little paranormal for a fantastic story. Do start with the 1st book and read in order: Taste for Trouble, Talent for Trouble, Touch of Trouble, Time for Trouble. They can be read independently, but best read one after the other.

My third book by this author, fourth work when including the short story. Everything read falling within the Blake Brothers series.

This is a vaguely strange series in that it kept bouncing around genres/themes/etc. First one involved celebrities, athletes and sports agents. Well, more the reality tv angle I’m going for here. Second introduced ghosts, the paranormal and ghost busters. Third introduced spy or crime caper or thriller.

This story barely made it to 3 stars. I was quite certain it’d end up getting only 2. This is strange as there were some good interesting parts. And it began strong. I stopped shortly after beginning to go back and read the ‘prequel’ short story, since I felt like I was ‘missing’ stuff. And I liked the short story. And the characters in it. Despite involving the same characters, Meg and Drew, I didn’t really like the characters in this one. Oh, and yes, I do think reading the short story first greatly enhances this here book.

I mean, that whole ‘Meggy – don’t call me Meggy! – you know she doesn’t like to be called that right? – that’s why I do it! I know she hates it! *giggles insanely*’ thing was super annoying. It wasn’t cute it wasn’t fun(ny). It was just downright creepy. Personally, I preferred when Drew kept calling her Pretty Meg. Instead of, you know, Meggy.

It’s strange looking back on the series, but the brother I like best of all, at least by the end of it, was Will. I never really got a good handle on James – that or by the end, I’d forgotten what exactly made him tick. I assume I had a better handle on him earlier, and that it was more than ‘smart-alacky, smarmy, lazy, super-star’. Will was, and still is to a certain extent, mostly a mean bastard. But he’s up front about it. He kind of has a rage-y shell over a raging asshole. While Drew, well, I’ll be wordier as he’s the star of this here book.

Drew is a man-child. He lost his parents at really young age, ten, and was warped by it. Not desiring to ‘lose’ anyone ever again, he developed a shell. People in this situation tend to go in two directions. The one I normally see in popular entertainment is the other path/direction. The direction/path in which the person ‘hurt’ at a young age puts on an angry grimace and glares at the world around them. That’s their mask, their shell over whatever is beneath. Drew went the other direction. He put a happy go lucky smile on his face. Bounced around all cheery like. This is a mask/shell over a mixture of numbness and rage. The outside shell mostly included crap that is quite off-putting to me personally. Including the outward appearance of never being able to take anything seriously. His need to say ‘I love you’ to everyone around him at every opportunity. And not really meaning it. Mostly.

Will and Drew sure can’t read women. Will’s a strong dominant type who is kind of rough. And knows it. So he was freaked when he ‘let himself out’ and ‘hurt’ Audrey when they had their sex scenes in the second book. And completely misread Audrey’s reactions to it. For example, she was moaning in pleasure, and he thought she was crying in despair. Will kept trying to stop himself. The woman in his life kept having to, basically, beg him to continue. And Drew? The opposite, to a certain extent.

During a sex scene with Meg, he got really creepy. Verging on rape-y creepy. It’s a good thing Meg actually wanted him, eh? Because . . . otherwise his actions could have landed him in the hospital and possibly jail (what, Meg’s strong, able to knock someone out with one punch . . . or something like that). Why do I say all of this? Because of how everything broke down. Gah, every fucking time. More or less.

Meg’s freaking out about a situation; he can barely hear her for his need to pounce on her. So he does. Forcing himself onto her with a kiss. To which she replies in kind. So he continues. When she tries to push him away, when she indicates she wants him to stop, what does he do? He thrusts his hands into her, now open, shirt to grope her. To fondle her breasts. Why? What were the thoughts going on in his head? That he might never have another opportunity, and fuck the consequences, he just needs to touch her, fondle and grope her. That’s . . . you know, super creepy.

Luckily for him, she was trying to get him to stop not for the sake of stopping their amorous activity, but to rearrange them into a more fuckable position. So, yeah, Will couldn’t read that Audrey loved what was going on and was horrified by it, and Drew couldn’t read that Meg also loved what was going on, and was, basically, turned on by it. So you might see why Will ended up being my favorite brother. James was so memorable that I can’t remember what he was like. Drew was a perv-y creep, and Will was a strong dominant type who cared what others felt.

The other star of this show, Meg, is also something like ‘damaged goods’ because of her family background. She’s a twin. In that when her mother gave birth, two daughters came out. Not in that she has someone who looks like her like a clone. Meg got the legs. Clara got the looks. Meg thought she got the brains, but Clara, once she applied herself, proved that she was quite intelligent as well. So, Meg got the legs. And that kind of warped her. Because when the two were standing next to each other, men drooled over Clara and didn’t give Meg a second look. And her parents kind of thrust their attention towards Clara. Making Meg something of an outsider in her own family. Though more because Clara had a mental illness issue and would go on psychotic episodes. So, Meg was damaged by that. Shown in this book by her constant mentioning to herself how unattractive she is to others. (That whole no underwear thing was kind of weird, but I do not wish to express any additional thoughts on the matter).

So, the book itself. Or, less on the characters now. The book opens with Drew and Meg in a bar. About 8 years after the second book. Drew spots Meg talking to a ‘very handsome man’ and becomes enraged. Charges across the room, grabs the man and thrusts him into a table. For it is Ian, the guy who Drew had watched die 12 or so years ago. They then proceed to drink a lot then go on a crime caper. That whole crime caper thing was just plain stupid. Mostly in how easily Drew and Meg were talked into it. Into doing it right then and there. Granted that Meg didn’t really want to do it, but she did. For such a smart guy, Drew sure did a lot of dumb shit. And based on various comments/thoughts here and there, he knew it too.

It’s unfortunate, but this is how the series ends. With a book I’d probably rate 2.8 stars.

The perfect ending

Drew and Meg drew this trilogy to an end with style. Their rapport with and love for each was evident from when they first met and as the intrigue and suspense built in this book it was evident that they were both in love with each other but they needed to sort that out for themselves. Loved the storyline - the romance, the loving, the steamy scenes - a really good read.

I loved the entire Blake Brothers series. I note that they got darker as they went along, but the characters were well-drawn and convincing. I coerced my wife, who doesn't read romances, into reading the first novel because the dialogue was so hilarious, and she went through the series like a whirlwind and is now on her second series of Susan Sey books, so enough said

Wish there were more brothers!

This was a lovely, quick read for me. This continuation of the Blake Brothers series featured Drew Blake and Meg. It had romance, angst (just the right amount), sexy time, intelligence, and even a little intrigue/ espionage thrown in for good measure. Oh, and a lot of sass... mostly from Meg. She was a strong heroine. Bravo! They are best friends in the beginning of the story. Unbeknownst to them, they are thrown into a revenge plot by a long lost (presumed dead) "friend" of Drew's. Throughout this experience they both go through a rollercoaster ride of emotions, making surprising discoveries. I wish we would've gotten to know Edward Valor a bit more. He was intriguing to me. Maybe we will in a future book? This is the last book of this trilogy, though there is a novella squeezed in at 2.5. I really enjoy Susan Sey's writing.

I really enjoyed the trilogy. The Blake brothers made me laugh.
I liked that it gave updates on the other brothers, their wives and what they were doing.
However, I was not satisfied with Drew's story. If you read the novella, you can see where his HEA had a "moment". And then to wait 8 years for the revelation? Really? And I really considered him more intelligent than to fall into the same trap that was exposed earlier. I liked how Drew came to tell Meg about why he is the way he is. However, the fact that he did not share the "amazing" story with his brothers. I did not believe that so much. And to believe everything he said with no proof. Did not sound like the Blake brothers to me.

I do hope we get to hear more about Clara in future books.

I am giving this book 3 3/4 stars. Granted, I read the other two and a half books in the series almost a year ago, but I just didn't love this one as much. Actually, I think I only truly loved the first book in the series.

I loved the truck scene and I loved the last few chapters, but overall there was just way too much drama for an easy chick-lit read. Not to mention E was such a slimeball and a jerk throughout with absolutely no redemption in him at all that he was just too much to stomach for me. Thankfully the sex scenes were enjoyable though and of course they all lived happily ever after.

I have been waiting for Drew/Meg since Blake 2.5 came out. Susan Sey exceeded my expectations. It would have been easy to finish off the Blake Family Series with a sweet little contemporary featuring charming Drew and sharp Meghan finally discovering their true love for each other. But, no. Turns out Drew has an interesting past that just caught up with him.

The witty and realistic dialogue and the depth of the characters make this book another that doesn't fit into the usual forgettable contemporary mold.

Time for Trouble:Blake Brothers Trilogy#3(The Blake Brothers Triolgy)

This is by far the best of the trilogy,I cannot believe what Meg and Andrew went through. These two started out as best friends and remained that way for 8 years. When a long lost friend of Andrews came to town the blinders came off but he still did not quite know what to do.Both of them were some serious hackers, they were offered something Andrew did not want to refuse.Megan was suspicious of Andrews friend but went along to help. The Shi----- was about to hit the fan.Hurry and read this.

So great!

I have waited very impatiently for the conclusion to this series. I was so nervous that it would not be worth the long wait, but it absolutely was! This book was hilarious. Drew and Meg had the best chemistry and the funniest conversations. I loved how the whole family came together to back Drew and Meg no questions asked. It was fun to catch up with James and Will and their families too. I completely loved it.

Not my favorite of the series, but it was okay. The first two books were written in the style of the brother's personality. The first was lighthearted and fun; the second, Will's, was more dark and serious. I liked the author's ability to be flexible. I expected Drew's story to be fun, and smart. It really didn't match his character at all.

Couldn't have asked for a better ending

Ah life for the Blake's has had the perfect ending. All is balanced and settled the way authors plan for it to come about. The romance was balanced and confusingly sneaky and the counter point of evil was absolutely spot on. Best book of the series.

Another Great Book

This was the third book about the Blake Brothers and I enjoyed it. It had a lot of taking about cyber crimes and Drew's background in it. It didn't have as much romance to me as the other books but it was entertaining and the author pulls you into the story. Very good book.

Great Comic Romance

Last book in a witty well written funny trilogy about three brothers finally falling in love. It's best to read them in order. But they could be stand alone. No heroines who are TSTL. These are smart strong men and women falling in love and cracking u up while they do. Susan Sey is going on my good reads list.

Great trilogy! Three delightful brothers, with giant problems, who survived, came out on top, and found the loves of their lives, because family is all that matters.

Love the Blake boys!

Another fun read from Susan Sey about the incorrigible Blake's. Drew's story is fun, fast and relevant in today's world of cyber crimes. Meg is a believable, likable female protagonist that can stand toe to toe with him. Enjoy this read !
