Ate this in one bite! I just could not put it down... I LOVE an online to offline romance and this one was sweet and spicy.

This was a reminder that there’s more to life than what is seen online.. I loved the way the characters met, the progression of their relationship, and the eventual HEA. Now I was a little worried towards the end when Talia started to get in her head. Micah was doing all the things she wanted in a man - I just wanted her to open her mouth and say what she wanted. I thought the story as a whole was good, but it was a little longer than I expected. Nonetheless I am looking forward to what’s next.

This is a new-to-me author.
Micah and Talia’s story is a real, mature, and relatable love story with little-to-no angst. The author did a good job of developing Micah and Talia’s story and showing their relational growth. It was a swoon-worthy romance story. And the spice level was 👩🍳’s💋.
Although I did like the story, I almost DNF’ed the book about 20-30% into it. The author was overly descriptive throughout the book and I had to skip paragraphs, as a result. Some details just weren’t necessary and detracted from the story, for me. Additionally, there seemed to be quite a bit of repetitive first person monologue or thoughts in the first half of the book. The repetitiveness and unnecessary descriptions felt like they padded the book, drawing out the story. It wasn’t until I was about 60% into the book that I started to enjoy reading it.

August 4, 2026This story was everything! The chemistry, the tension, the real-life drama. Aja delivered a grown, sexy romance that had me hooked from start to finish. Talia and Micah's connection felt authentic, messy at times, but so worth it. Communication, intention, vulnerability, and showing up...this book ticked all the boxes. Being desired is one thing, but being loved out loud? That's what this story is all about.

Baby this book was so good. It's was so grown and mature. I enjoyed every minute of this story and thank God everyone had sense which made it even more enjoyable.

I closed this book in tears.
Not because it was dramatic. Not because of some over the top grand gesture. I cried because this story reminded me that love can be quiet, intentional, vulnerable, and healing.
We spend so much time caught up in red pill versus blue pill conversations, submission debates, and gender wars that we forget what it looks like when two people simply choose to love each other well. To communicate. To be honest about their fears. To work through hard things instead of running away from them.
That is what this novel gave me.
As a Black woman, I appreciated seeing Black professionals whose love felt authentic and grounded. This was not a fantasy. It was built on emotional maturity, integrity, reciprocity, and grace.
I often hear people, especially some men , say Black romance novels are unrealistic. But this story is not asking if anything but for each of them to be emotionally present, and show it.
As I read, I kept thinking, I am Talia. Talia is me.
Somewhere along the way, I realized something that sat heavy on my heart. I feel I have never been properly loved. I have always been loved with conditions. Yet I have always loved without them.
This story reminded me that being loved with patience, respect, tenderness, and emotional safety should never be considered unrealistic. It should be the standard.
Also, the slow burn was healing as well!! In history, Black women, our bodies have been taken without consent throughout history and, in many ways, that continues today. We are so often taught that our value is tied to what we can give physically instead of who we are as whole human beings. This story challenged that narrative. It honored a woman beyond her body. It honored her heart, her mind, and her humanity, by both characters!
That hit home for me.
Thank you, Aja, for writing a Black romance that does more than entertain. It heals. It reminds us that healthy Black love is not performative. It is intentional. It is honest. It is vulnerable. It is choosing each other every single day.
This is the kind of Black romance I want more of.
I will be thinking about these characters for a very long time because this is the Love that I choose to manifest in my life!!

💜🌼I love everything Ms. Aja writes...and IRL is no exception…In fact, there are so many things I love about this book, I don't know where to start...First, I gotta say...IRL is one of the sexiest books I've ever read... I'm not just talking about the characters having sex...I mean..obviously, there is some good sex in the book...but, imo, the slow burn..the dialogue..the banter and the chemistry between Micah and Talia ..along with their attraction to each other...are where most of the heat comes from...There's a good reason the brain is scientifically considered the body's largest erogenous zone..and Ms. Aja taps into that in a big way...💜🌼
Also, social media is such a huge part of our lives now... So many folks meet online ...relationships are formed ...and
you never really know who these folks are..So, I love that Micah and Talia meet at an online group mixer..They been "noticing" each other online..but with all the filters and ..well...straight up lying on social media..they don't connect until they have some actual face time...💜🌼
That's another thing I love...I love that Micah and Talia are two smart, sensible and cautious adults in their late 30's...They're honest about their feelings, their reservations and their pasts... An authentic romance that brought a smile to my face
This author is truly a romance writer. Her coupling is realistic and I love how the biggest challenge a couple faces is mostly internal stressed by some external factors. Micah and Talia's story provides a reality check that today's singles face when interacting with potential interest via social media. With catfishing, filters, red pill, blue pill, who can truly trust what is projected online and attempt to build something authentic in real life. Micah and Talia fought through the madness of online interactions and trusted their instinct even when it conflicted with their past experiences and built a relationship that everyone should envy. Talia held her on and did not settle. Micah moved past the surface and say Talia for who she was and responded positively to her needs. Was he perfect? No! That's why I absolutely adore the author because inserting the mishaps that could potentially destroy a relationship was a sermon needed to be preached without passing judgment. I loved the scene at the beauty salon. That community resonated with me. The family of both sides provided strength to the story. I was often found smiling through the book especially when Micah and Talia were interacting with each other. There banter showed how much they really liked each other. Liking one another in a relationship is just as needed as loving each other. I can't finish review without speaking of their chemistry. Oooh weee!!! It's definitely grown folks business! This author continues to amaze me with her works and the Playlist to this masterpiece is fire!! I hope that other readers will partake of this beautiful journey of love. You will not regret it.

I loved everything about this book. The concept was amazing and well executed. The author took what we see online and brought it to real life in the form of this story. The author said she wanted this book to be “grown, sexy, tender, honest, and complete” and she did that!
Micah and Talia had me locked in from the beginning, from their easygoing flirting and banter when they officially met in person to their banter and flirting in their DMs to their undeniable chemistry in public. I appreciate the pacing of their love story and how real it was. This story was grown, sexy and mature. These two knew who they were and what they wanted and weren’t afraid to embrace it once they found it with each other. I loved how when they hit a bump because of a breakdown in communication and not being honest with himself, that Micah was able to course correct and express to Talia why he did what he did and offer her further reassurance of his feeling for her and what she meant to him. I also loved that Micah made Talia comfortable enough to be soft and open with him. They both were able to be their real authentic selves with each other without any pretense or representatives showing up from their first encounter and throughout their story. Lastly, I loved the epilogue and how it brought everything full circle.

This was such a beautiful heart waring story. I am new to Aja and will be reading more. There were so many quotes that I highlighted that I related to so much. A specific one is:
“That I still wanted to be met. I wanted to be chosen in a way that held up after the choosing. I wanted the kind of love that did not ask me to trade my discernment for softness or my softness for self-protection.
Wanted to stop feeling like romance had become a performance everybody knew how to imitate and nobody knew how to live.
I wanted something real.
Something warm. Something adult. Something that would not disappear the second it came into contact with ordinary life.”
I appreciated all those words so much because that is exactly how i feel as a single woman. I related so much with Talia, where she was always used to doing everything on her own being single and waiting for the other shoe to drop when meeting a new guy. You recognize patterns and people not being their full selves, can be a let down. This was such a beautiful heart waring story. I am new to Aja and will be reading more. There were so many quotes that I highlighted that I related to so much. A specific one is:
“That I still wanted to be met. I wanted to be chosen in a way that held up after the choosing. I wanted the kind of love that did not ask me to trade my discernment for softness or my softness for self-protection.
Wanted to stop feeling like romance had become a performance everybody knew how to imitate and nobody knew how to live.
I wanted something real.
Something warm. Something adult. Something that would not disappear the second it came into contact with ordinary life.”
I appreciated all those words so much because that is exactly how i feel as a single woman. I related so much with Talia, where she was always used to doing everything on her own being single and waiting for the other shoe to drop when meeting a new guy. You recognize patterns and people not being their full selves, can be a let down. I related with Micah too in that aspect with him waiting for the other shoe to drop and not being full ready to stand i what is because of being afraid of a let down.

I enjoyed this book so much! To start with I loved the way the author described Talia taking the time to care for herself. Her skin/body care routine had me realising I may need to step up my game!
I loved that this was a mature romance.. two grown people who know what they want and what they don't and although it's pretty straight forward, old scars, fears and vulnerability can make it difficult to fully open up to some one new, let them in and call them yours.
Micah and Talia know of each other online so when they meet at a mixer IRL there's a mutal attraction between the two. I loved their slow and tender approach to trying things out together. Now, don't get me wrong there was 🌶🔥 but it took a while for them to call their relationship what it was and declare their feelings to one another.
I was really impressed with Micah's growth most of all. He was really taken with Taliah and I understood his cautious behaviour.
I enjoyed this book so much and picked up a novella ( The Swan ) by the same author just because I needed more of her writing.
It was my first time reading and won't be my last!
Oh! And Micah's Facebook post at the end had me laughing at the comments! 😄

Enjoyed the reality of this book
Talia and Micah book was soft. I am not saying that in a bad way but in a way of adult sensuality and maturity. I loved the deep description of how social media relationships and chemistry differ from one that is in your face daily. Some people do hide behind filters and angles.
I LOVED Talia's mother words of affirmations to encourage her to live in her truth and accept nothing less than what she deserves. I was over here saying, "clock it" each time and sending it right over to me babygirl.
I was hooked from the prologue and read each word with intention all while taking notes.

Okayyyyy That Was Good
My first book from Ms Aja, surely not the last.
Very well written love story minus all the unnecessary drama.
I’m a sucker for adding text message and social media posts, just makes it more entertaining.
It’s definitely a slow burn, Micha and Talia, two very successful people who are wary about meeting people online and relationships. They’re both extremely hesitant about putting themselves out there and almost miss out on the potential for love.
The side characters in the book helped keep Micha and Talia focused before they get themselves into unnecessary drama.
I do love how they communicate with each other for the most part.

This was so needed! The breakdown of emotions, the expectations, the transparency. It was all needed. I loved this story from beginning to end. I’ve smiled through every chapter, highlighted soooo many things that touched my heart. Your way with words and describing the moments, the feelings…it was everything I needed in a book. This was beyond relatable and I loved every moment of it. I will definitely be getting the physical copy cause this belongs on my shelf for a reread.

Whew! This book was a GROWN, poetic masterpiece written with intention, wisdom, love, discernment, depth, connections, and real-life intimacy. I love Talia’s carefulness and how intentional Micah was. Chef’s kiss and more than five stars. Must-read.

I absolutely loved Talia and Micah's story. It was nice to actually see their relationship grow. What I enjoyed most about the story is how Micah wouldn't let Talia run from their conflicts. Even the third act break up was handled in a way that showed maturity. It was so refreshing to get a good straight romance as opposed to one that is so trauma filled you feel drained once it's over. I hope we see more love stories like this from Aja.

IRL is a story of mature love. Not just in age, but in navigating a new relationship with wisdom to not lead with hormones and pure emotion. Talia and Micah approach their relationship knowing who they as individuals are and what it is that they are looking for in love and partnership. Talia knows her worth and refuses to settle for anything less than that. Micah knows that he is a catch but is not willng to tie himself to just anyone for the sake of saying that he has someone. This story is full of tension, wisdom, and passion. I found myself not just rooting for this couple, but also taking heed to the dropped gems of observation.
