★★★★ ½! Opulence, part 1 of 3! SPOILER-FREE review! One woman, two men & a heck of an opening to an intriguing & sexy serial!

Opulence (part 1) opens up to divorce’ and entrepreneur Nina Scott coming to a realization. Though the sex has been kinky, violent and fantastic, she abruptly breaks up with her a-hole fuck-buddy, investment banker Devin McIntyre.

Opulence (part 1) told from Nina’s POV, has the perfect blend of everything. The only reason I did not give it 5 star is due to the novella length. I can easily see this being a 5 star serial for me. It ends with a perfect shocker, taking story to the next level. I am only too happy to soon be reading part 2, Reverence for the continuation of the story.
Compelling heroine! Two to-die-for heroes! Off-the-charts sex! Complex plot! Brilliant story-telling! A very promising opening to series!

This is the second series that I've been lucky enough to receive as an ARC from Angelica Chase and I honestly think this woman knows how to write truly decadently steamy reads!! OMG, someone hose me down with ice cold water because I just read one of the sexiest stories ever. This is surely going to make your panties melt right off ladies!!
Nina Scott became a self made millionaire when she developed a very successful fitness/weight loss program. She doesn't seem to have much luck in the love department. Her ex husband turned out to be an adulterer and the man she fell in love with afterwards, failed to mention that he was married.
The story begins with some pretty steamy bathroom sex. Even though we learn early on that Devin is Nina's ex-boyfriend, who also happens to be married, I still couldn't help but develop a little bit of a crush on him. This guy is the epitome of the sexy and controlling bad boy!
Later on Nina meets another gorgeous and sexy man at a bar on the beach. Who seriously has this kind of luck anyway!!???? Aiden is the owner of the bar, and he also happens to be the lead singer of a local band. One of my favorite types of book boyfriends are the rock gods!! So I instantly forgot all about Devin once Aiden came into the picture. The man knows how to heat things up in the bedroom, and in umm, ALLEY WAYS!! HOLY SHIT, I'm still thinking about that last scene!! WOWZERS!!
There is definitely something fishy going on with Devin. He used to handle Nina's investments and something seems very shady about a certain real estate deal. But in the back of my mind I kept thinking maybe there is more to Devin than what has been revealed so far to us. Maybe he's not a complete douche bag. While I was falling hard for Aiden, I had some concerns about the fact that he seemed TOO PERFECT. He's not very forthcoming with details about himself which leads me to believe he's got some serious skeletons in his closet.
This one ends with some shocking news. Not a crazy cliffy, but still, I never even saw that coming!! It will be interesting to see which man turns out to be the right guy for Nina. I know who I want her to end up with!! I am assuming that this is going to be a love triangle but I honestly didn't get that vibe from this first installment. There was clearly one guy that Nina was favoring but after that bomb was dropped at the end, I'm thinking things are going to get majorly complicated in book two.
Oh and we get reunited with some characters from "The Sexual Awakenings" series too!! :)

This was the first book I've read by this author, but definitely won't be the last. 'Opulence' was a sexy tale of debauchery and betrayal. While this story might be difficult for some, as it contains taboo elements such as adultery, I loved every sordid detail!
Nina, our heroine, is strong-minded and independent. A self-made millionaire, she doesn't need a man to pay her way through life. She learned after her marriage fell apart, just how little she desired to be permanently tied to a man.
Nina's one weakness is Devin, the man she'd had a relationship with for nearly a year, prior to discovering him having sex with HIS WIFE! The bastard failed to mention that minor detail during their time together. Unfortunately, the heart wants what it wants and Nina had already fallen head over heels in love with a man that clearly had no regard for her.
With the wound still fresh, Nina begins to take steps to distance herself from Devin. After one last fling, she cuts him from her life. She's devastated, but refuses to let him ruin her completely. She clearly never knew him at all.
When Nina meets Aiden, she's not looking for anything more than a distraction. He's incredibly sexy and fun to be around. Quickly, they dive into a relationship and Nina finds herself inexplicably drawn to Aiden, despite her lingering feelings for Devin.
I enjoyed every minute of this story, even the trashy parts! Nina was a strong woman with a weakness for a jerk. Who hasn't been there? Aiden was drool worthy, and I have a feeling there's more to him than meets the eye. Although Devin was an ass, I also found his character to be intriguing.
This is a fast-paced story that can be read in a single sitting. The first in a series of serials, 'Opulence' will draw you in and leave you craving more. I cannot wait to see where Nina's story will lead. I am starting the second book right away.

Angelica Chase writes outside of the box. I loved her first set of serials and how they weren’t your average romance. This new set of serials seems to be no different. They are in fact very different from her last stories, but still- not your average romance. I love not knowing if I’m supposed to love a character or not. About not knowing whats going to happen. In a romance genre with so many predictable stories, it’s such a refreshing change.
Nina is a heroine who is fed up with the way her life is. Things have changed for her when she made her fortune, and not all these changes have been good. Devin McIntyre is the man who Nina fell for. She wanted him. She needed. him. She fell in love with him.
Things with Devin were not as they seemed. Nina is making some major changes in her life, and cutting Devin out is on the top of that list. Devin is the guy you aren’t supposed to like, but by the very end of the story I had questions about him… and I’m not so sure he’s as bad as I thought.
While trying to figure herself out, Nina meets a handsome stranger on the beach.
Then again, this same stranger shows up at the bar she visits. He’s singing, but he also owns the bar. His voice, his look, everything about him draws him to Nina. Aiden is something else. Something special. She’s not sure if she’s ready to show him the real Nina, but she is trying to give things a go with this man.
Both of these men are a little on the mysterious side. I can’t wait to jump into part two and see what is really going on with them…
Opulence was a fantastic and promising start to a new serial. I loved the steam, Chase can write seriously sexy stuff. The writing was fantastic and I’m anxious to see the direction this story goes.

Davin came in Nina’s life when she was vulnerable and when she was looking for acceptance. At that time he treated her better than any man ever had, but now he's just a big shark. Devin is married and Nina can’t forget, knowing she could never keep a man like him.
All she wants now is a fresh start, a start without Devin.
One night when all she wants is to pretend that she’s somebody else, Nina meets Aiden, a gorgeous, intriguing man, owner of a local bar. She can tell from the very first moment he’s different form Devin. He’s intense, but he’s sweet and funny as well. He makes her feel different in a good way. At first she’s not honest with him about who she really is, but she decides she has nothing to lose, taking a chance on him. Nina and Aiden spend some sweet and fun moments together and some sexy moments as well.
Will Nina forget about Devin? Will Devin accepts so easily that she moved on?
I really liked this first installment in the series. It was sexy and entertaining and I was hooked from the beginning. I liked Nina, but I can’t say I loved her. She’s ruthless, yes, (or was) but at least she wants to change. She knows what she wants – a fresh start – and she decides to go for it. Even if she has money, she doesn’t seemed very arrogant to me. Like I said, she was likeable...enough. Another aspect that I liked about her is the fact that she’s cautions when it comes with a possible relationship (any kind of relationship) with Aiden. At least she's smart.
Like Nina, I was intrigued by Aiden immediately. He’s hot as hell and captivating. He definitely knows what he wants and he wants Nina all for himself. He’s dominant, but he also is sensitive and I totally liked him.
While there’s two men in Nina’s life, this was not a love triangle. The story ends with a shocking revelation I didn’t expect and I have to say I’m eager to find out what is all about.

My thoughts on the book: I actually really enjoyed the Opulence journey..The characters were well constructed,the plot was something new, the story seemed well written...I enjoyed the characters Devin,Nina & Aiden they were all unique in their own way.Even though you don't get thoroughly acquainted with them in Book 1..You just know they've got many deep layers waiting for the readers to peel out.
The man I met had always been a shark,he had always bared his teeth,but he had done it so subtly that by the time he had sunk his teeth into me & bought me down to the bottom,it was way to late.
My Devin McIntyre:
The only down side for me was that,I didn't really feel anything for the characters nor did I sit on the edge of my seat waiting to know what happens next.
But that ENDING, Christ ! Lol..I did NOT see that coming.That surprise on the last page ensured me reading BOOK 2.No matter what.Because I defiantly want to know what happens next.
Is this book a stand-alone ?
No..Opulence is the first book in the Excess series.
A full length novel or a novella ?
Novella....It was more of an introduction to the series.A good one nevertheless.

Defiantly.I enjoyed the journey down to the last word.Can't wait to read what happens next.

4.5 lovesick and dickstruck stars

Lost in her own thoughts she is lured in by a songbird and you know what they say, the best was to get over one man is to get right under another one. Only Aiden isn't as oblivious to her misery as everyone else is, wanting to make her smile more than anything else...
Taking her hand, Aiden brings her back to the reality she turned her back on, rediscovering the simpleness of what life should really be all about...just a shame she doesn't give her trust too easily.
Opulence is the first in this delicious-enticing-erotic tale of finding yourself in a lonely world; caught between a man who brings nothing but sorrow, grief and guilt and a man who brings back the spark in your life. You have to be able to put your judgment aside and put yourself in Nina's shoes to understand where she has been, what she has done and where she hopes to be. It always is intriguing to get a different perspective of life through different eyes.
And while I did get whisked away in the thought of a better tomorrow, I was put back in my place at the end. Nothing happens in a blink of an eye and just when you think you've taken one massive step forward, your taken two steps back. I'm very curious to see where this is all going to go, and even though I shouldn't (but I really can't help myself) I've picked a team to be on. Although I have been told to prepare for anything, so with that I'll expect the worst and hope for the best and keep everything crossed, lol!

It always is intriguing to get a different perspective of life through different eyes.
And while I did get whisked away in the thought of a better tomorrow, I was put back in my place at the end. Nothing happens in a blink of an eye and just when you think you've taken one massive step forward, your taken two steps back. I'm very curious to see where this is all going to go, and even though I shouldn't (but I really can't help myself) I've picked a team to be on. Although I have been told to prepare for anything, so with that I'll expect the worst and hope for the best and keep everything crossed, lol!

Clearly I'm late to the party as always, since most of my Goodread's friends have already read and loved The Excess series. Truth be told it was the love triangle that always made me weary. Oh who am I kidding, I avoid love triangles like a venereal disease; it just isn't good for my health. But after recently taking a dive into Love Triangle city with a different book and liking it, I thought, what the hell? Besides, the book was calling my name after reading this:
If you are not a fan of cursing, erotic and extremely explicit sex, cheating, immoral behavior, dysfunction or sexual scenarios that may make you feel uncomfortable this is not the series for you. FILTHY EROTIC ROMANCE
This particularpervert reader will never pass up a good filthy erotic romance. Nope. And if there's a great story to top it off? I'm sold! Which is exactly why I absolutely binged on this series and read every book in a matter of 2 days, back to back. But let's talk about Opulence for now...
Nina Scott is a thirty-one year old self made millionaire, coming off of a bitter divorce. She didn't grow up with money, but she saw what it did to her mother to never be accepted by the inner circle of the rich and influential. Being new money herself, she hasn't exactly had it easy; especially when she realized that she was the other woman for a man that she thought herself in love with but who's married to a woman very much established within the society.
Now she's the woman that knows she's the mistress but just can't seem to break the hold that Devin McIntyre has on her.
Devin is gorgeous, rich and successful, and an asshole of epic proportions. There's no love lost between him and his wife, but he doesn't spare his contempt for Nina either. The sexual relationship between them is one of anger at this point. Neither can stay away from the other but they know they're toxic for each other. The one thing that I really loved about Devin is that there's this undercurrent of something beneath the sharp tongued insults. You want to hate him and yet you can't feel like there's just something more to him. I can't say that's an easy feat for an author to pull off, but Angelica Chase certainly did.
Nina knows their relationship is toxic and she needs to sever all ties but Devin will always have his hold on her simply because she will always crave him. When she finally makes the cut she meets a man that's the complete opposite of Devin but whose sexual intensity draws her in just the same.
I wish I could tell you more, but it's just one of those things that's best experienced absolutely blind.
Opulence was an erotically charged ride filled with unpredictable turns and dark secrets that made for one unputdownable read. I absolutely devoured this book and couldn't wait for more. And after that cliffhanger? Forget about it! Thank goodness I waited for all the book to be out because if I had to wait for the release of book 2 after the ending here, I may have had to cut a bitch. True story.
If you're looking for filthy hot sex, a heroine that owns her sexuality and makes no excuses for it, two men that will pull you in different directions with how you feel, and a great story as the icing on the cake? Clearly you've just found your next read.

Whenever anyone mentioned this series, several words that always brought up are, sexy, hot, scorching, panty melting, BOB required… well you get the idea. After experiencing it myself, I can attest to all the claims. The book opened literally with a bang – as in the dirty kind. It set a strong tone for the rest of the book.
Nina might seem like a bitch at some points but I really like her. I love how she remade herself, even if she was a lilttle lost in between.
Devin was one sexy asshole. I get why Nina had a hard time to shake him off. He had this raw sexuality that would make any smart woman lose her train of thoughts.
However, it was Aiden who caught my heart. The easy, carefree ones has always been my preferred choice. He could make anyone feel beautiful and special, while actually mean it.
The ending was definitely a shocker. I didn’t see that one coming. I’m looking forward to see how it will all turn out.

3.5 Steamy Stars
Nina Scott is a multimillionaire entrepreneur. Living most of her life in middle class suburbia, she dreamed money and success would be the answer to all her dreams. Fast forward several years..she's rich, divorced, "the other woman" and lonely as can be. Something has to change. Wealth and success isn't all it's cracked up to be.
In Opulence, Nina is portrayed as a rather sad soul. She's just trying to clean up the wrongs in her life and move forward. She's dumping the man she's craved sexually for the past year, Devin, originally unaware of his marital status. A new lease on life... change is good.
One day, while taking some quiet time on the dunes in Charleston, Nina overhears a man singing and playing the guitar. He has a voice that captures her. A voice she hears again a few days later at the Mystic bar. A beautiful face is attached to this voice...a beautiful body. Everything draws Nina sexually to this man but she's determined to not go there again. New beginnings and all...
I wish I would've attached myself more to Nina's character. I felt as if I was being told more than I was truly empathizing with her inner struggles and loneliness. It's clear Nina lives an isolated life where money isn't buying her happiness but there were things she did that just rubbed me a bit the wrong way and that effected my ability to empathize, I guess. First and foremost, her drinking. She always seemed to be drinking...binge drinking. But maybe that went along with her struggles. Instead, I found it replacing one addiction (sex) for another (alcohol).
When the sexy singer sets eyes on Nina, Aiden essentially walks off the stage to chase after her. He was so enamored by her and I guess I just didn't see the reason for his insta-draw to her. She's determined to not become dependent on another man. Maybe it's her independence that draws him in- wanting what you can't have kind of thing. The chase.
Opulence is a quickie novella. It packs a fair amount of steam and ends in a "thinker" of a cliffhanger. It took me a minute to figure it out but it'll definitely leave you wanting to dive into book two pronto. This installment is NOT a love triangle. Yes, there's two men in her life- one being pushed out, the other pushing himself in- but she is a single woman and is not flip flopping back and forth between the two. I know that can be a hard limit for readers and is not the case, at least in this book's timeline.
Opulence is book one of three in the Excess Series. Book two, Reverence, does not have a publish date listed as of yet.

Angelica Chase is a master at leading us down one path only to have it completely detour into the unexpected, and I am hooked! I am a HUGE fan of Angelica since I read her series Sexual Awakenings this woman writes fantastic erotica serials. When she was kind enough to offer me an ARC I jumped at the chance to read it. I am so glad I did!
Nina is living the American Dream, quite literally. She was just a regular girl, living her normal life when she created a product that sold like crazy. Now a multi-millionaire, she can have anything money can buy, but she is left feeling empty.
She just found out her longtime boyfriend is married. Now she is a social outcast, labeled a whore, and has no one friends she can really trust. To make matters worse she is still addicted to the man who broke her.
I really liked Nina. She is a regular girl and I felt like her emotions and reactions were spot on with reality. She knows Devin is a bad guy and doesn’t deserve her attention, but it is hard to turn off years of feelings.
I was so happy when Nina met Aiden. He runs a local bar and is a singer. Their physical connection is instant and they don’t fight their physical desires long, leading to some very hot scenes. Aiden seems like the opposite of Devin. He is a regular guy and appears to want to really to get to know Nina. Only time will tell what his real intentions are.
After just one serial I am sold. Opulence is a sexy read and I really enjoyed this first installment getting to know Nina. I couldn’t wait to read more, but when I read that last word my heart stopped for a second. I cannot wait to see where Angelica takes us next!

I thoroughly enjoyed every second of Ms. Chase’s Awakening Series and so of course, I was ecstatic to get an ARC of her latest - the Excess Series #1. I read this in one sitting and couldn't believe it was over once done.

She’s divorced and now trying to extricate herself from the disaster of her current relationship, if you can call it one, with Devin McIntyre. Devin is a handsome, powerful, wealthy liar and predator.

I became an Angelica Chase fan after reading her Awakening Series. I .was beyond floored at the opportunity to read and review her latest work...
True to her craft, Opulence is brilliantly erotic with her signature air of mystery surrounding the tale. How you wonder? Well from page one you get the opulent Nina Scott who is "lovesick and dickstruck." So BOOM! Out of the gate you get a naughty heat between a woman who seems lost and a devil in disguise, Devin, who is most likely the reason.

Fast and dirty and completely wrong...or is it? Do not be mistaken, Nina is no doormat. Hard to tell who owns this tryst! Devin may have been Nina's downward spiral in a world of wealth but he is not the only man to drop the panties of Miss Nina! (No cheating...keep your wits about you)

Seriously. That just may have been the sexiest, most alluring book I've ever read.
And that ending?! BAM! Holy Hell!
Not only did the author write a book that is (wonderfully) full of sexy times, she also managed to create a set of compelling and complex characters. An amazing feat, considering the length of this book. The plot is still developing - but there clearly is one & it seems interesting. The bit of story laid out here hints at more great things to come!
OK. That's all you're getting. No time to write an elaborate review ... I have other books to read before I can finish this serial ... so I must hurry off to do that now ... because I really need to read the next book in this series!

There wasn't much to this book! We get no answers to what's going on. But you know something is going on and you can't read fast enough to figure it out. Two smoking hot guys! One sassy woman.
I went into this book blind. I had no idea this was a love triangle. Im not a fan of them. But I will defiantly be reading more of this one. Like right now! Lmao!

I was trying to figure out where this story was going, but oh that cliffy! I enjoyed reading Sexual Awakening so I was really excited to receive an arc for this one. It was hard to get into at first. I found it difficult to sympathize with the heroine Nina Scott. Also, the first half of the book is very wordy, and it describes her opulent wealth maybe just a little too much.
But toward the ending, I started to like Nina a bit more. I know this part one was a series starter, so even though I have a lot of questions and I hated that abrupt cliffy, I'm really interested to see where this story is going. I'm teased and intrigued.

Book one of the Excess series is full of twists and turns so I am going to give you the rundown on the feels to avoid giving even the smallest detail away.
OMG.
So at first, I am lusting after Devin and all his alpha, demanding behavior and then I’m all, whoa... where did Devin go? Then enter mister, cool. Panties dropped. It was instant love. Like, marry me now and have my babies. I was completely lost in this story. The end. I died. I wanted more – I tapped on my kindle edge like a new page was going to magically appear.
And for Nina. I loved her. I felt all the feels for her, she was able to draw me in and make me care for her – see her as ruthless but yet vulnerable. By the time the end hit me, I was done. I adored the Awakening Series by this author and her writing style. But this one had a bit more angst to it and packed a bigger punch in the plot department.
Do NOT discredit serial series. I know, we’ve all been hooked then left with extended release schedules or drawn out stories... but when done right (which this is); it is a fantastic experience. You get all the bonus of a novel, but you get these spurts of excitement that are often far and few between with full-length stories.
This author is a must read. I can’t wait for the next installment.

This was my first Angelica Chase book and I immediately fell in love with her writing, and let me tell you, she can write a steamy sex scene like no other!
Nina Scott grew up with not a lot of money, and two parents who often fought about it. Now a millionaire divorcee, she is afraid that she has become the very person she swore she would never be. She is lonely and bitter and unhappy.
She has recently ended an affair with gruff Devin McIntyre, after learning he was hiding a wife. This doesn't stop the her being attracted to him though, and finds he is still so very hard to resist.
When she stumbles across a bar one night, she is instantly drawn to the musician on stage, who also happens to be the owner, and when he doesn't take no for an answer she decides to give him a chance, and they go on a date.
Aiden is nothing like Devin, he is a good man with a naughty mind and unlike Devin he is actually very nice to Nina, which she finds so refreshing. Still, he is very much a mystery and who knows what secrets we are yet to discover.
I really enjoyed it and look forward to the next.
This is part one in a three part novella serial, and ends on an almighty cliffhanger :)

4 Naughty Girl Stars!
I loved Angelica Case's first serial Sexual Awakenigs, so when I was approved for an ARC on NetGalley I couldn't have been more thrilled. Opulence is the first book in her new series called The Excess and WOW what a start.
We first meet Nina Scott, the heroine who happens to be a millionaire. She's not had the best of luck when it comes to men. Her ex-husband cheated on her. Then she finds out that the guy she fell for, Devin, is actually married. Somehow he failed to mention that part. She realizes she can't keep pinning after him, so she decides to make some changes starting with cutting him loose.
While pondering what to do with her life, walking along the beach she hears a beautiful voice singing that strikes her.
"Your misery makes you beautiful."
Later by coincidence, she hears the same voice again singing in a local bar that she decided to pop into. Immediately she's struck not only by the voice, but by the man behind it. There's an instant attraction and Aiden convinces her to go out with him. Aiden makes moving on from Devin so much easier and they are nothing alike.
Angelica Chase has me so confused on who I want Nina to pick. My first impressions of Devin are that he's a deuche bag, but I also think that there's more to him that we are yet to learn. I really like Aiden though. I think he's a good match for Nina right now. I now need to read the second book to see if my feelings stay that way. And to find out more about that cliffhanger. I really didn't see that coming.

To say Nina and Devin are sexually compatible is an understatement. However, there are circumstances that prevent Nina and Devin from being completely together.

We inhaled this series in one go! We couldn’t put it down.
This is a SPOILER FREE REVIEW for the COMPLETE EXCESS SERIES

We were lucky; we read this trilogy in one hit so avoided the waiting after a couple of cliffies. This story does not do what it says on the proverbial tin. It had twist, turns and a few errr wtf moments. It was erotic suspense with various levels of kink. The covers drew us in and the synopsis sounded promising so we jumped straight into the unknown.
‘And I was once again alone. Who exactly was I crying for?’
The writing was addictive and flawless which meant we were hooked from the onset. It had a dark sinister tone with off the charts passion, suspense and deception. The characters were hard to get a grip on but we have a feeling that this was intentional as they mocked us, shocked us and grabbed our attention.
“Don’t make me this monster, because for her, I will be.”
Sexy and thrilling the story developed but all along we could hear the Author’s voice in the background whispering for us not to get settled and comfortable. Part reason being the unnecessary Author warning which in some eyes could be viewed as an inadvertent spoiler.
“Some things are to be lived in the moment only, they can’t be captured.”
The Excess series explores the moment your past catches up with your present dressed in many guises. It explores a love that is not tied up into a neat little red heart. Rather it’s overwhelmingly chaotic and dangerous. Ugly and punishing. Devin, Aiden and Nina’s story is an intricate web of sexual desires and intrigue. This is not fluffy rainbow erotica. This is filthy, dirty lies.

I had my difficulties with this book, but to be fair it is my fault because I didn't read the warning. So please before you read it, read the warning under the blurb ("...cheating, immoral behavior, dysfunction..."). Despite my struggle at the beginning I enjoyed this short and hot read.

She tried to blend in with the rich and famous, doing everything to please everybody so that they will accept her in their circle. They accept her money, but as a person they still consider her as an outsider. Nina got tired of this situation and decided to let go of those elite membership.
Devin McIntyre the man Nina cannot have. The man who owns her heart. But it's time to face the music, so-to-speak, and end all connections to Devin and also to show him that she's moving on with her life.
After all have been said and done, Nina decided to enjoy the night away and went to a bar to unwind until she heard the voice which got her attention to look and got mesmerized by the gorgeous man singing on the stage.

The novella description warns that if you are not a fan of erotic sex then this is not the series for you. If you look up the word “erotic” in a thesaurus you find synonyms such as “seductive,” “sensual,” “hot,” “steamy,” “filthy,” and “kinky.” If you add “well-written” then you perfectly describe Opulence. Right off the bat you know this is no fluffy chic-lit. The story opens with scorching hot this-is-wrong-I-shouldn’t-like-it sex between Nina and Devin.
Nina is a former housewife who created a fitness program and turned it into a multi-million dollar industry. While she’s been successful in business, she’s been unlucky in love. Divorced from her cheating ex-husband, Nina thought she’d found love with Devin until she discovered he was married. Devin is rude, calculating, arrogant, sensual and dominant – basically he’s a sexy jerk. Even though Nina broke up with him she finds it hard to stay away.
Nina’s relationship with Devin has left her a social outcast and her wealth has made her leery of the motive of others. We find her wandering aimlessly – literally: sad and lonely, desperate to escape her life if only temporarily. She wanders into a bar and meets bar owner and musician Aiden. He’s not only sexy-as-hell, he’s talented, intuitive, sensitive and extremely assertive. The two begin an affair and Nina finally starts to feel happy but can she finally let Devin go?
Opulence ends on what I could tell was meant to be a cliffhanger but it was so subtle went over my head. I had to go back and re-read some portions for me to figure it out. It’s a good cliffhanger that I didn’t see coming. I wish the author had made easier on the reader to understand.
Many questions remain unanswered which is what you expect in a series. I’m looking forward to reading the next installment.
