Playing the field

Rate this book
After his husband of fifteen years leaves him for a younger man, thirty-seven-year-old Tom is left trying to hold his life together for the sake of his teenage son, Ryan. Between exhausting days as a quantity surveyor, sleepless nights, and a son struggling with heartbreak and pressure at school, Tom barely has time to breathe — let alone think about himself.
Then Ryan’s new rugby coach enters the picture.
Dan is gruff, intense, and impossible to ignore. As the school’s demanding new rugby coach, he clashes immediately with Tom over Ryan’s slipping grades and attitude on the pitch. But beneath the frustration and sharp words, Dan sees more than anyone expects — a hurting teenager trying to cope, and a burnt-out father carrying the weight of everything alone.
What starts as tension quickly turns into something far more dangerous.
Dan has never been with a man before, but from the moment he meets Tom, he can’t stop thinking about him. And Tom, still wounded from betrayal and convinced that part of his life is over, is completely unprepared for the way Dan looks at him — like he’s wanted, cherished, and worth fighting for.
As stolen kisses turn into late-night confessions, intense chemistry, and a love neither of them expected, Tom slowly begins to believe that happiness might still be possible after heartbreak.
But opening his heart again means risking everything.
Playing the Field is a spicy, emotional MM romance featuring a protective rugby coach discovering his sexuality, a devoted single dad learning to love again, sizzling chemistry, slow-burn tension, found family vibes, healing after heartbreak, and the happiest of happily ever afters.

Cute book. Really wanted more from these characters, they seemed so interesting wanted a back story and more character depth. Really just wanted more.

Nice quick little novella with a HEA, loved the epilogue.
