Steve Dancy Tales #5

Jenny's Revenge

Rate this book
Jenny Bolton has plans, and they don’t bode well for Steve Dancy.

Married at fifteen to a Nevada politician, Jenny suffered repeated assaults, witnessed her husband's ghastly murder, buried her vile mother-in-law, and killed a man. Dancy, who had once served as her paladin, rejected her without as much as a goodbye. Abandoned on a raw frontier, she's single-handedly building an empire that spans the state. Despite her triumphs, she feels she never should have been left alone.

Soon to marry, Steve is eager to begin a new life unaware that Jenny is mad for revenge.

A woman scorned, beaten, and abused. A terrible mix. In the fifth Dancy novel, the author weaves a tale of a frontier woman used by men and cast aside, only to pick herself up and create her own empire. All the while, she broods with her desire for revenge.

Still excellent writing

Great plots and characters come together for very interesting reading.
This one has more typos and poor grammar than the previous books but they aren't overwhelming.
He also doesn't use big words badly.

Decent story

Good story, I got a little confused from the Virginia scenes to the horse rustlers scene. It was written well.

Loved this next installment in the series. They are back in the Wild West and back in their element. Steve and Virginia are planning their wedding but only after a trial for murder that has Steve and Sharp in trouble again.

Jenny is back with a vengeance and Steve has to decide what to do with her. Do they trust her or just kill her like was done with her "sweet" mother-in-law.

Steve's mother shows up and he learns some surprising things about her and they actually get along for a time. She befriends a surprising person and actually defends this person.

There are so many twists and turns to the point where you don't really know who to trust and who to keep an eye on. Loved the ending, saw it coming but loved it still. Is this the end of the series? I hope not, very enjoyable to read.

If you have been reading the series, you have to wonder about the title. Just who is Jenny going to get revenge on? Is Virginia a target before she and Dancy can even get married? Read the book. I'm not telling. Suffice it to say, the crew ends up back in Carson City. Jenny sends 4 thugs to get Steve and Sharp. Guess who won and is charged with murder? With this turning into a political problem instead of a shooting one, Dancy actually gets his mother to show up. Let the fun begin! This is the last one currently in the series and I hope there are more in the works. The ending certainly gave the indication that there would be.

Revenge is a bad idea

I had a problem with some of the names as they said one name and they ment another person. Once you figure out who was ment the story was excellent. Would suggest reading this whole series if you like westerners. I especially enjoy the fact they are not full of sex thank you so much.

A good three-and-a-half.

I always look forward to a new Dancy tale. I enjoyed this one as well, but it (at least the ebook version I read) could have benefited from a bit more proofing. Quite a few distracting typos. I don't remember that being the case in the previous ebooks.
