McBride Brother Lumberjacks #3

Bigger Than the Mountain Sky

Rate this book
Raven Perry has always been a thorn in my side.
Her gossip articles about the mountain and the McBrides have only driven the barb deeper.
But after the recent events that have left me reeling, she’s become so much more than that…
The bane of my existence.
That relentlessness which makes her such a good reporter also makes it impossible to escape her.
Infuriating when all I want—no, need—is to be left alone.
I’m not fit to be around anyone right now.
Especially not the woman who can ignite such a fiery response in me so easily.
It’s best to let me disappear into the wilderness with my axe to work out all my anger, pain, and frustration.
But Raven won’t let it go.
Won’t let me go.
And the more she pushes, the more something far different ignites inside me.
A need to protect her from the danger she can’t help but walk right into…

Bigger Than the Mountain Sky is the final steamy, angsty contemporary enemies to lovers mountain man romance in the McBride Brother Lumberjacks Series about a grumpy, damaged, reclusive lumberjack and the woman who has always stoked the flames of his anger who may be the only one who can save him—if he can protect her from the danger she brings to the mountain.

Mistress of the Underworld.

Raven has been a thorn in Conners side for years now we finally find out why. Events from the past are haunting Conner. Everything gets turned upside down when he finds out what she’s up to and the trouble it will bring to there small town

It’s engrained in her DNA to think I’m the villain in every story, the big, bad wolf ready to eat those innocent little pigs.

The danger gets very real in this McBride Brothers story. I’m so glad to know this is not the last story about this mountain town and I’m excited to learn more about these new brothers.

Bigger Than the Mountain Sky is the final installment in Gwyn McNamee’s McBride Brother Lumberjacks, and this book will definitely put you through the wringer. It’s an enemies-to-lovers romance where grumpy lumberjack MMC Connor McBride wants to be left alone, but nosy Raven Perry, who has been a thorn in his side for years, won’t stop writing gossipy stories about him and his family. She goes too far when he learns she’s writing about the bad guys who targeted his family and were after Lucky in book two. He won’t let Raven put herself and his family at risk again, especially since he’s still dealing with the demons of what he did to protect Lucky and Liam. So he forces her to come with him to his secluded mountain, where he can keep an eye on her and protect her without anyone knowing. When they are forced together, they end up battling it out and reveal the truth of what happened when they were teenagers, and finally admit their true feelings for each other.

Connor will definitely be my favorite McBride brother after reading this book because he may be grumpy and reclusive, but he will protect his family no matter what and do anything for the woman he loves, even if she thought he hated her all this time. Raven took me a bit to like because I didn’t like that she was putting everyone in danger. Still, she showed strength by not giving up on her story because she wanted the truth. She also wasn’t going to give up on Connor, and he needed someone like her to help him through his demons. They just needed to work on their own issues too, and when they did, their chemistry was explosive.

This book definitely has some intense scenes, especially toward the end. There is also an emotional moment I wasn’t prepared for, which sets up the next series that Gwyn McNamee is planning. Yes, there will be more Small Town Romance stories in this town, this time with the Briggs brothers, whom readers will meet in this book, and here is one reader who can’t wait to learn more about them. If they are anything like the McBride brothers, I’m here for it.

Overall, another great installment, and I give it four stars. If there is one takeaway from this book, it is that Connor is not someone to mess with, especially when it comes to protecting people he loves. That ax of his is not a decoration. Every single one of the McBride brothers is protective and is not to be messed with, and the women they are with are strong like them, too, which is why I loved reading this trilogy.

Standalone or Part of Series: It’s part of the McBride Brother Lumberjacks trilogy, and I highly recommend reading these books in order.

POV: Dual POV (First Person)

Would I recommend this book/series? Yes. If you enjoy Small Town Romance with tense moments, mystery, suspense, and characters that are hard not to love, then check out the McBride Brother Lumberjacks Trilogy now.

What to Expect:
🪓Lumberjack/Mountain Man Romance
🌲Small Town Romance
🪓Enemies to Lovers
🌲Grumpy/Sunshine
🪓Force Proximity
🌲Suspense

I Couldn’t Put This Down… Explosive Chemistry, Heart-Stopping Suspense & a Hero Who Will Own Your Heart!

Bigger Than the Mountain Sky completely consumed me. It delivered everything I love in an enemies to lovers romance…heart-pounding suspense, emotional depth, explosive chemistry and spice that absolutely scorches.

Connor McBride completely stole my heart and earned a permanent place on my book boyfriend list.

Behind his rugged, gruff exterior is a man carrying an unbearable weight of guilt and heartbreak. Watching him battle his demons while believing he deserves to be alone was absolutely gut-wrenching. But beneath all that anger is the kind of hero romance readers fall head over heels for…fiercely loyal, relentlessly protective, strong enough to shoulder the world, yet beautifully vulnerable when it comes to the people he loves.

Then there’s Raven Perry…

Fearless, determined, confident and relentlessly chasing the truth, she refuses to let Connor push her away.
She gets under his skin like no one else and their sharp banter, constant tension and undeniable attraction had me completely hooked.

Their slow burn builds into chemistry that is emotional, electric and irresistibly spicy.

And when it comes to Raven? Connor’s protective instincts are impossible to resist.
The way he fights for her, worries about her and would do absolutely anything to keep her safe had me swooning just as much as their fiery chemistry.
Connor McBride isn’t just a mountain man…he’s the complete book boyfriend package and I fell for him harder with every page.

The suspense is just as captivating as the romance. Danger lurks around every corner, secrets unravel at the perfect pace and every twist kept me glued to the pages, constantly wondering what would happen next.

One of my favorite parts of this series will always be the McBride family. Their unwavering love, loyalty and fierce protectiveness for one another add so much heart to the story. No matter what they’re facing, they stand together, proving that family is their greatest strength.

Expect:
🪓 A grumpy, damaged mountain man
🩵Explosive enemies to lovers chemistry
🪓Sizzling spice and unforgettable tension
🩵Danger, suspense and edge of your seat twist
🪓Emotional healing, redemption and fierce protectiveness
🩵An unbreakable family bond you’ll wish you were part of

Gwyn McNamee has delivered a breathtaking finale to the McBride Brother Lumberjacks series. Connor and Raven’s story is emotional, thrilling, passionate, and impossible to put down.

Heart-gripping and unbelievably satisfying, this book is an absolute must-read!

Connor is sitting outside his cabin with a bottle of bourbon in his hand as he listens to his brother and family by the bonfire on their homestead. Both his brothers and their wives have been after him to open up and tell them how they can help.

But no one can help him after what he did during the attack on their homestead two months ago. The worst crime family in the country came after Lucky and they almost lost Liam. The bourbon was the only thing keeping the nightmares at bay. Their pure mountain was tainted that night and Connor couldn't get past everything that transpired.

He tensed as footsteps approached his cabin. But it wasn't his brother's nagging wifes, it was worse. Raven, the one person he doesn't want to see. They have hated each other since high school, fifteen years ago, and were at each other's throats whenever in the same room.

As Raven watched Connor vault over his porch banister to escape through the woods, she realized he was worse off than his family thought. He was a man barely hanging onto a ledge and he had just disappeared up the mountain. Disappearing for weeks before coming home.

I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. THIS IS A MUST!!! A must-read book, and a must-be-read in order series!

Gwyn McNamee has done it again and how she managed to top Killian & Willow and Liam & Lucky's stories is beyond amazing! Connor and Raven have hated each other forever and it didn't help that Raven was a reporter and Connor seemed to be her favorite subject. Warning everyone to steer clear of the man with a volatile temper.

This suspense romance is action-packed and full of danger. Connor and Raven are explosive at the best of times, but when he takes matters into his own hands to protect her, the true fireworks begin. This book is spicy hot and Connor's torment will break your heart!

The more I read Gwyn McNamee's books, the more I fall in love. Can't wait to see what she comes up with next! Highly recommend!

Be prepared for every single emotion because Gwyn McNamee delivers them all in Bigger Than the Mountain Sky, the gripping finale to the McBride Brothers Lumberjacks series.

This story is everything I wanted in an enemies-to-lovers romance. It’s a tense, sizzling slow burn that keeps you hooked from beginning to end, but what makes it stand out is the incredible suspense. Just when you think you know where the story is heading, another twist keeps you on the edge of your seat, while the emotional moments hit with real force.

Connor McBride has been drowning in nightmares ever since the choices he made to save his family. Haunted by his past, he’s carrying a weight that feels impossible to escape. Then there’s River, his brother’s wife’s best friend and a determined journalist who is equally driven to expose the people responsible for bringing fear and devastation to their mountain town. Their chemistry is undeniable, even as they clash, making the slow-burn romance all the more satisfying.

Gwyn McNamee balances heart-pounding suspense with powerful emotion, creating a story filled with danger, heartbreak, healing, and hope. Connor and River’s journey isn’t an easy one, but every obstacle makes their eventual connection even more rewarding.

Bigger Than the Mountain Sky is a brilliant conclusion to the McBride Brothers Lumberjacks series. If you love romantic suspense with unforgettable characters, explosive chemistry, edge-of-your-seat tension, and an enemies-to-lovers romance that delivers on every level, this is a finale you won’t want to miss.

Thank you to Gwyn McNamee for the ARC of Bigger Than the Mountain Sky. It's been a wild ride with the McBride bothers and I'm sad to see their series end.

As with other books from Gwyn, she captivates you and pulls the reader into the story from page one. She's able to fill the story with such sizzling and explosive chemistry along with tons of heart-stopping and jaw-dropping suspense. And the fact it's an enemies to lovers to boot just adds a cherry on top.

Connor McBride is hiding a lot behind his gruff, lumberjack appearance. He's carrying an unbelievable amount of guilt and heartbreak that he feels the need to suffer alone. It was heartbreaking to see this man feel the need to battle all his demons alone despite the fact that his family is fully supportive.

Raven Perry on the other hand is determined to fiercely chase the truth- despite the fact that it can put her and others in danger. She also refuses to let the gruff Connor push her away any longer. The tension between the two, the fact that they get under each other's skin and the fact that the both are extremely attracted to one another but slightly afraid to act on those feelings.

I'm always left in awe of how well Gwyn can create these stories that grip you so tightly and don't let go. Every book of hers I read I fall deeper and deeper into Gwyn's worlds and I can't say that I ever want to leave them.

After completing this book I'm sure excited to see what comes next from her brilliant mind.

Man… what a bittersweet ending to such an incredible series. I don’t even know where to start. As hard as it is for me to choose between the McBride Brothers and the Hawke family because both series are absolute favorites of mine I have to give this one to the McBrides. This series has had my heart since book one.

Even though Connor and Raven’s story closes out the series, it delivered heartbreak and healing in all the best ways. Gwyn McNamee has such a way of pulling you into her stories with vivid descriptions that make everything feel so real. It honestly felt like I was standing right there on the mountain, hearing the wind through the trees and taking in every detail of the world she created.

Connor had a piece of my heart from the very beginning. Everything he was carrying mentally had me wanting to reach through the pages and just hug him. And Raven kept me on edge the entire time, chasing the truth and uncovering secrets that kept the suspense alive.

This story was emotional, suspenseful, healing, and unforgettable. If you’re looking for a series filled with heartbreak, suspense, healing, and rugged lumberjacks who would burn the world down for their women, this is one you absolutely need to pick up.

Wow, I loved Connor and Raven. Raven has always been the bain of Connor’s existence. Raven hated him with her whole being, dragging him through the mud, writing every little detail about him or his family in her paper, all based on something that happened a long time ago. These two have been going at each other since high school and Connor has no idea why she hates him so much. Connor has been struggling since what happened on the mountain and he’s having a hard time moving past it and Raven is just adding fuel to the fire because she is writing a story on the family who tarnished the mountain for Connor. When he gets wind of what she’s planning, he kind of kidnaps her and takes her up the mountain. Being this close to each other is bringing up old feelings and a conversation well over due and when it’s all laid bare everything comes to light and Raven sees that Connor isn’t the man she thought he was, he's so much more, which changes everything. Their story is emotional, intense, angry and full of love. What a way to end this series and I can’t wait for what's to come.

Bigger Than the Mountain Sky closes out the McBride Brother Lumberjacks series with the enemies-to-lovers brother, and he was absolutely worth the wait. Grumpy, damaged, and convinced he wants nothing to do with the one woman who has always gotten under his skin — the banter crackles, the tension is almost unbearable, and when these two finally stop fighting long enough to actually feel something, it lands hard.

What sets this one apart is the suspense thread woven throughout. The danger is real, the stakes are high, and McNamee doesn’t let you get comfortable. That balance of heart-pounding plot and heart-melting romance is where this series has always excelled, and book three delivers it at full force.

Read them in order starting with Beneath the Mountain Sky — you’ll thank yourself. And if you’ve been following along since book one, this ending is everything you hoped for. Highly recommend.

This was between 4 and 5 for me. I was engaged from the beginning. I do think it's important to read this series from book one especially to understand why Connor is struggling like he is with events from the previous book. Connor and Raven have had a very combustible relationship. They have great banter and arguments that really make you wonder when it's going to cross into hate spicy time. This book is well written and held my attention especially as you're waiting to see when the lurking danger will strike. I wasn't prepared for some of the twists in this book. I am excited to see that while we're done with the McBride brother's finding the love of their lives we aren't done with the mountain! As always, a great book that will have you feeling deeply for these characters as they move through challenges.

What an amazing ending to a phenomenal series. These McBride brothers are guaranteed to make you melt and fall in love.
This is the third book of this series, if you haven’t read the first two you must read them to fully appreciate this book.
Raven has always spoke her mind, told the story that the people needed to read and didn’t care how much trouble she got into with the grumpy McBride brother Connor.
Conor has demons he can’t fight or get rid of. He escapes to avoid dealing with his family. When he notices his pain in the arse nemesis up to something he can’t help but watch her.
These two have hated each other for years. Constantly fighting and at each other’s throats. When danger is lurking
Connor does what he thinks is best.
Hold on tight because these two have enough fire to burn down the mountain.

What do you mean this was the last McBride Mountain book?! 😩

Woowee. This whole series was a wild ride and Bigger than the Mountain Sky brought it all together perfectly! I have waited the entire series for Connor & Ravens story and it did not disappoint. What I love most about an enemies to lovers trope is when they are truly enemies. And let me tell you Connor and Raven are TRULY enemies. So that made the chemistry just absolute perfection and everything I wanted! I don’t want to give anything away but just like the other books in this series it kept me on my toes & kept me sweating. 😉 Let’s just say Connor McBride = New Favorite Book Boyfriend. 🫠

I highly recommend reading the books in order to get the full story but don’t you worry once you enter McBride Mountain you won’t want to leave! 🩵🪓

When those he cared about were in jeopardy Connor did what was necessary however that doesn’t mean that living with the outcome is easy. He doesn’t want anyone else to know the anguish he is feeling so he tries to hide his emotions however Raven, his nemesis and the one person he doesn’t want to know anything, sees more than he wants her to.

Raven is best friends with Connor’s sister-in-law, so their paths are bound to cross whether they want them to or not. Not only do she and Connor share an adversarial relationship, but she is also a reporter looking for answers he doesn’t want to give which only amps up the tension between them.

The characters are captivating, the story is compelling and the journey will capture your attention and take you on an adventure you won’t be able to put down.

Where to start…this book is the final book for the McBrides and Gwyn held nothing back when it came to Connor and Ravens story.

As Connor is healing from the fall out of book 2 he finds himself in the midst of his own emotional darkness. Everyone around him including his nemesis Raven are trying to help him but nothing seems to get through. When Connor uncovers Ravens secret it sets things in motion that will forever change everyone on the mountain!

This book was highly emotional and one that I couldn’t get enough of because the angst between Connor and Raven is what I love and seeing them finally hashing out their hate…GLORIOUSLY SEXY AND HOTT!

If you haven’t started this series you must because it’s one of the most emotional and beautiful series I have ever read. Each book covers a different brother but there is a storyline that runs through each book that connects them all. This book is the last and the one that ties it all together and solidified my love for these characters.

An amazing finale to this series. Connor and Raven's story is utterly perfect. These two characters were chef's kiss. I loved their banter and chemistry. I also liked the narrative. It is well thought out and well written. From one page to the next I was invested in everything going on. And I liked the pacing of the words, how they just flowed effortlessly. There's lots of emotions to feel too while reading this and the angst is so good. This is an incredible read that I could not get enough of. If you love enemies to lovers with forced proximity set in a small town with a grumpy x sunshine vibe, then grab a copy of this.

An amazing addition to the McBride Brother Lumberjack series! I didn't think Raven and Connor would steal my heart, but they certainly did! They've been so busy going at each other's throats for so long that they missed the real feelings underneath it all! And when trouble finds McBride Mountain, it's time to rally the family together.

Connor has been living in a dark, troubled, head space, and it took Raven to pull him back from the depths of his despair. This spunky woman and her rough mountain man somehow found their happiness! The suspense, the action, and best of all, the explosive chemistry made for a fantastic story! I look forward to more to the series' spinoff!

Enemies to Lovers? ✔️
Second Chance? ✔️
Suspense? ✔️
Steam? ✔️
Family dynamics? ✔️
Hurt/Comfort? ✔️

Raven can easily get under anyone's skin because as a journalist, that's kind of her job. She gets under Conner's skin the most but what's their story. We finally find out and it may not be why you think. But her current investigation will put her in the cross hairs and will endanger everyone she cares about. If you've read the series and in particular the last story, you know that Conner is struggling a bit and his story will bring you to tears (at least it did for me). Raven is the last person he wants in his orbit but sometimes the universe does what it wants.

I really enjoyed reading Bigger Than the Mountain Sky. The plot, main and secondary characters were great and kept me engaged. Connor and Raven were great characters whose chemistry crackled off the pages and with their banter. The suspense aspect was interesting especially after reading the other books in this series. We learned a lot more about the background and what the characters had gone through from the previous book and how they were handling it in the present. I loved seeing my favourite secondary characters and am very excited for the next series with the Briggs brothers.

Connor and Raven's story is the perfect ending to the McBride Brother Lumberjacks series. From the page turning storyline and well developed and believable characters to their banter and intense chemistry, this is a fantastic read. Make sure you set aside time to read because once you start reading this book, you won't want to put it down until the final page. Connor and Raven's enemies to lovers, small town romance is well written and a fabulous finale to the series. I recommend this book, this series, and this author to everyone who loves great storytelling.

What an ending, you know when you think it can’t get any better. Well Gwyn always n knows how to top it.

The ride your taken on with Connor and raven. The emotions you feel while reading made the chemistry that much better.

Best enemies to lovers so far, one that literally had you questioning if they were ever going to make it.

The one thing Gwyn is going to do is pull on the heart strings.

I was in such a reading slump and this book definitely got me out of it. Sad to end the McBride series but can’t wait for what’s next.

Powerful, that's the word I would use for this book. This is the most intense brother I find, Connor, trying to deal with the aftermath of a previous situation. Raven just wants to keep bringing it up every time she sees him. She was a hard character to find likeable until more was explained in this book. The sparks are flying between these two and I could not see a way out for them. Definitely more, intimate, intense, feelings, and "just...more."

I loved that this was the finale book to the McBrides! Getting to see Connor being saved from his demons by the one person he was supposed to hate. Getting to see Connor and Raven finally get to hash out what actually happened between them and for them to realize that they were better together. This was a tough book to get through, even though the other two weren’t much easier. Once I was able to start this book, I couldn’t put it down until I was done.

Bigger Than the Mountain Sky is the third novel in the McBride Brother Lumberjacks by Gwyn McNamee. It follows the final McBride brother, Connor and Raven and their enemies to lovers story.

The romantic suspense element to this story really amped up the action! I loved the love-hate part of Raven and Connor's relationship; it truly made me not want to put the book down! I really love the McBride clan and the entire town. I cannot wait for more!

Absolutely love this family! Connor and Raven bring a victorious culmination to a turbulent narrative set in McBride Mountain and it was AWESOME! At first I was angry with Raven because why would she poke the hornet’s nest, but I’m amazed at how beautifully Gwyn turned it around, making me root for them and their project. In the end, they got a beautiful HEA and I’m pleasantly surprised that there would be more stories coming out of McBride Mountain 🤗

What an ending to the series!!!!

I love a good enemies-to-lovers book, and this is one of the best ones I have read this year!!! Gwyn is a master at tugging at all your emotions when you read one of her books. There is so much to unpack between Connor and Raven, you wonder if they will ever make it to their HEA.

I am sad to see this series end but am crossing my fingers for another one to begin!!!

What an epic conclusion to this series ! Connor and Raven have always gotten under each other's skin, arguing and poking at each other. Their chemistry was off the charts. However, Raven brought danger to the mountain and Connor needed to protect her at all costs. As with any of this author's work, be prepared for a wild ride! I really enjoyed this series!

I loved this series! All those big strong mountain men, and their partners. I loved Raven as soon as she was mentioned, and she just couldn’t get away from Connor. I believe this one was my favorite. He was growly all the time, and she couldn’t help but work him up. I loved the brothers that were family in every way but blood. Loved it!

Raven is hoping to write the best story of her life making sure everyone knows the truth. She's found the man who can help her but knows she still needs Connors help.
Connor feels that Raven is always writing about the family so doesn't fully trust her. The two have a history and when thrown together they realise that they see what happened differently.
