This one completely exceeded my expectations. It jumps straight into the action and the tension barely lets up. I raced through it!
Rebecca Hodge has a real talent for creating suspense without overdoing the prose. The writing is clean, the pace is fast, and there’s just enough description to put you right in the scene without slowing anything down.
There are some familiar thriller elements, but that didn’t take away from how enjoyable this was. A couple of things stretched my credibility slightly, but overall, this was exactly the kind of easy, gripping thriller I was hoping for.

I read an early draft of FAILURE POINT as a beta reader and am re-reading it ahead of a bookstore event with the author. It's a wonderful story of heart-pounding, page-turning, psychological suspense.

I literally had one of those “WHAT?? …W H A T ?!?!?” moments where I had to stop reading, stare into space for a second, and admit I did not see that coming. Like, at all. Not even a little bit. How did I not see this coming?? WHAT?! Holy crap!! 😳🤯
And can we please appreciate that gorgeous cover? That white origami rose isn’t just beautiful - it’s absolutely perfect. Once you finish the book, you’ll understand.
My only complaint? It ended. I would’ve happily followed Jordan for another 300 pages.
Rebecca Hodge, my heart would like to file a formal complaint. It survived…but barely. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

For fans of crime thrillers with sympathetic characters and high-octane endings.
I am grateful to the author for this ARC that introduced me to a genre I rarely read.
I loved the way it began. I was hooked by the immediate drama, the horror and guilt that Jordan felt over losing a client she was sworn to protect. That drew me into the next part where she had a new low-drama assignment, trying to win back the favor of her employer. Here it slowed for me. We learned in detail all the things that are needed for this kind of surveillance work, and I would have liked a quicker pace.
Still, I was impressed by the author’s knowledge and the character’s expertise, the way Jordan meticulously viewed everything around her from an investigator’s outlook.
But after that, when the kidnapping takes place, the pace steadily quickens, and the drama sharpens. Toward the end, the plot twists kept coming, one after the other, at such a high speed, it had my head spinning. And the explosive, high-octane ending, was a knock-out.
Kudos to Hodges. Highly recommended to crime thriller fans.

While posing as a new neighbor she befriends Emma, a sweet child, and her mother Shelby. She also stumbles onto a deep coverup. The trickiest part is figuring out who her foes and friends are. With odds stacked against her, when history seems to repeat itself, failure is not an option.
Scenes written from two and three viewpoints bring depth to this intense story. Meticulous attention to detail drops the reader into the midst of the action and a special shout out for the brutal girl fight! Plus the satisfaction of justice prevailing.

Wow this book kept building and building to its end, it’s one of those where you say just another chapter, and then another because there was a clue about who did what. Just enough to whet the appetite, but not enough to know if this is a trustworthy lead or a dead end. I hope we have some more stories with the main characters as they are tough yet vulnerable and make mistakes trusting the right people. But who’s to say people don’t change over time, right? We all do just some for the not so good and others stay true to their nature. This book was a quick read as putting it down was difficult at times but breaks All in all Jordan Winthrop is a very good agent to have on your side, loyal once you gain her trust, she has her flaws but don’t we all. She is like a bulldog and never gives us her bone easily. I would highly recommend this book just make sure you have time as you can’t put it down very long.

One awesome perk of being a writer with writer friends is that occasionally I get to read advance copies of other writer’s books. Rebecca Hodge is a master of twists and turns and edge-of-your-seat suspense. I read an advance copy of her book ISLAND ENDGAME and loved it, so I was thrilled when Rebecca approached me about reading an advance copy of FAILURE POINT. Like ISLAND ENDGAME, FAILURE POINT is a nail-biting suspense. A security agent teams up with a distraught mother to rescue her kidnapped daughter. The stakes are high with the child’s life on the line, the secrets and numerous motives that surround the case, and the security agent’s past fatal mistake that left her with orders to watch not meddle. FAILURE POINT will keep you on the edge of your seat rooting for Jordan, Shelby, and Shelby’s daughter to make it out alive. You won’t believe how it ends!

I love when a novel keeps me turning the pages for multiple reasons, but especially when it's the characters driving the story, and the plot just happens to be the fantastic car. I related to and loved Jordan because she had so much heart while still being believable tough, but little Emma captured my heart. There are moments in the book where I enjoyed settling in with these characters and moments I feared for their lives, and it was the perfect balance of both.
Was so excited to get my hands on another book from this author, this time ahead of time. Although, it did keep me up past my bedtime on numerous occasions, but all excellent books do. If I weren't away at a retreat at the time and couldn't tuck in for hours at a time, I would've finished it in a day.

We are on Jordan's side right from the beginning and we learn just how tough and smart she is along with just how much of a perfectionist. She's hardest on herself. But we also see a softer side in her interactions with the young girls put in her charge. I love that we didn't see her dumbed down at all to make the plot work. We see her use her wits and determination all through this journey as well as her heart. Great story. Great characters. Rebecca Hodge has dont it again.

Jordan broke my heart just a little, but then it mended again. I loved this and was surprised when I got to the finish so quickly. Jordan has a heart of gold but not enough grunt to be totally lost in the field of security, she still resonates with her softer side, thankfully. And this is what makes her so relatable. She tough and determined to do whats right without compromising her moral standards. Im hoping we will read more of Jordan and follow along on her journey.

Jordan works for a security agency. After a disastrous last assignment Jordan is assigned to move next door to Shelby and her daughter Emma. She is supposed to be keeping an eye on Shelby who supposedly has some kind of corporate insider info that a client wants back. But when things take a turn for Shelby and Emma, Jordan springs into action.
This was a quick enjoyable read. There are three povs—Shelby, Emma and Jordan— but I found Shelby’s to be a little bland. Overall though it was a fun read with a good twist.

Failure Point is a twisty game of cat and mouse, full of lies and deceit. A high stakes story with a child's life on the line.
I love a women-forward cast. Bonus points for the story being told in multiple povs, my favourite.

Jordan Winthrop is a midlife crime fighter, likeable, earnest and brave, but lately she’s depressed by what she sees as failures. Then a schoolgirl and her mother threatened by a big money family feud revive her self-confidence. A relatable protagonist and a twisty plot make this breezy read entertaining and relevant to those of us questioning our capacity for success. Go, Jordan!

This was a high octane thriller, once again by Rebecca Hodge. (I would read anything she writes.) Jordan works for a security company and she is on probation due to a screw up on her last job. She is sent out to the boonies to keep an eye on a woman and her daughter. They don't really tell her everything she needs to know about this job, but later on she knows why they kept her in the dark. It was page turner! I burned through this one at a high rate of speed and really enjoyed the ride.
