This book was peaceful to read, with practical and down-to-earth guidance for creating a meaningful life in our modern world. I have followed Adriana’s videos and writings for many years so it was cool to get to read this long-form account of her “slow-living” journey and learnings.
Reminders from the book: - stay connected to the seasons and nature - know what matters to you in life and say no to what doesn’t - reduce stimulation/consumerism for deeper connection with others/yourself - create and enjoy the life you love where you are right now
I love the ideas in this book, the honesty and how fresh it feels compared to so many other books of this genre. Adriana challenges you to dig deep and look at what really matters, not what social media tells you should matter. It’s the first original non fiction book I’ve read of this type for a while. One I’ll keep and reread for sure.
watched Adriana's YouTube videos and read her blog before picking up the book, so I came in with high hopes. To be honest though, I couldn't describe her as an expert on slow living. The book feels very repetitive, and I didn't find any real spark or depth. Everything comes across as carefully crafted and aesthetic, but it lacks an authentic, lived-in feeling. It's nice if you want something positive and gentle to read, and l am a positive person, but I'm also pragmatic. Even when you love your hobbies and want to slow down, life is still fast. It's a good, calming read if you're new to the idea of slow living but there was But , it was ok ……can say honestly I'm happy for her to have spent the time and been determined enough to write and publish the book. That's no small thing.
