This is a riveting anthology of survival stories. The tales are unique because they are reminiscences of average, not prominent, people. These overcomers are inspiring because they had no more resources than you and I. They weren’t famous, powerful, and wealthy. They conquered tremendous odds through will power and the occasional miracle. There was no other choice for them: fail or fight.

The uplifting cases mentioned include examples, such as:
• Overcoming illness, mental blocks, and stereotypes
• Accepting and believing in yourself
• Strengthening family ties
• Finding heroes in unlikely places

The main takeaway was a feeling of empowerment. I thought, “If they can do it, I can, too!” My miracle must be out there somewhere!

I’m so glad I was led to this feel-good book! I recommend it to all readers, especially those who want to boost their faith.

If you're looking for an easy thoughtful read for travel or for the beach, i would highly recommend grabbing this book. Storyshelter - to me - is like a long form of Humans of New York, instead of pictures annotated with short blurbs, it goes a level deeper. This book is a selection of stories from the site that vary from inspirational(A high School Drop-out with a Masters) to that which will put you in tears (It's alright to cry), to stories that sound like a secret told to a friend (Special Ugly Duckling). Adorable, emotional, and personal, these stories are thought provoking in way that is perfect when you're in that relaxed vacation state.

I loved reading the stories in this anthology. Yes, one of them is mine, so I'm biased. Nonetheless, it was a great collection of short stories reminiscent of Chicken Soup for the Soul. Though some of them were a bit shocking and raw - which I wasn't expecting. It's a great reminder that everyone around us is brimming with stories that are probably going untold.

Whenever we encounter an obstacle, a trauma, a hardship, or any negative aspect to life, we often feel alone, as if no one else has gone through what we are facing. This compilation of true stories should help alleviate that feeling.

Written from the heart of the forty-two writers that contributed their stories, this book covers a great many of the experiences that life throws at us. Their ability to overcome is inspiring and serves to remind us we are not alone.

The stories come from the web site StoryShelter.com, and while each are compelling, they are also well written. Some are humorous, some sad, but all are worth the time to read, Each story is short and could almost be used as a devotional, reading one each day.

This is a book that would be good to have next to your bed so you could read a story before drifting off. And no matter what is going on in your life, no matter what kind of day you may have had, you will be reminded, you are not alone.

This one gets five stars

This was a really great read!

The range of stories and life experiences in this book is pretty incredible. It's something that you can pick up and put down, think about each story and really get something from it...or you can plough through and still have a good time! (I've done both.) It's one of those books that reminds you what is important in life without being cheesy.

I grew up loving those Chicken Soup for the Soul books. They made me think, laugh and cry. This book reminded me of those stories, but perhaps with a bit more honesty and less predictability. A must read!

Personable stories written by everyday people. Love the concept, and the stories are well-done. Particularly loved the story The Farmhouse.

My first print publication is in here, "The Ride of A Lifetime". The stories of adventure vary in quality, but overall are some interesting stories.
