I love YA mysteries and thrillers, and this one definitely caught my attention with its slight paranormal element as well.
The story hooked me almost instantly. I loved the mystery surrounding the mother and all the secrets she was keeping. I liked learning more about her through Kess and her investigations.
I also liked seeing Kess come out of her shell a bit in this location and find some friends. The romance was pretty good as well and I liked seeing him open up about what he was dealing with.
I didn’t really predict any of the twists, but I wasn’t actively trying to either; I was just along for the ride. The story was exciting and fast paced, and even though I wanted a bit more from the ending, I would still definitely recommend this one to anyone who likes YA mysteries and thrillers.

Very enjoyable read. Protagonist Kess is a force to be reckoned with. I love how surprised I was at the end.

Loved this book! It hooked me from the start. I normally listen but I read this in print so took me longer to find time to read. I thought the character development was great. The ending was great - I had to stay up late to finish! Highly recommend this read!!

You know how sometimes you read a book, and you just know it's going to stay with you for the rest of your life? Tell Me My Future is the newest addition to that list for me.
I feel like Eileen has somehow gotten into the nooks and crannies of my brain and told my soul exactly what I needed to hear - that our future is our own to decide. I feel like my insides have been torn out and are being put back together more beautifully than I ever could have imagined. I feel like I want to somehow go for a run (something I do not do), cry, and completely get my life together all at the same time.
Harlan Coben's blurb, "a powerhouse debut", may only be three words, but they are 100% true and I cannot wait to read everything and anything else Eileen Ruvane writes.

An absolute whirlwind of a story that left me ripping through pages to get to the end. The pacing is superb, perfectly capturing Kess’s frantic, slightly-wreckless, teenage energy as she barrels towards her colliding future and past. Even with how quickly I moved through this, the characters and their relationships and backstories felt substantive and tethered Kess to Delphine in a way that made me that much more invested in her story. Overall, a thrilling rollercoaster mystery that completely satisfied.

I loved this book! The intensity and mystery just kept building and it really snowballed for me in the last half of the book, keeping me flipping the pages to find out what was going on. And I loved the ending!

There’s a lot to like about this book- it’s fast paced, exciting, and extremely YA with teen angst aplenty. I listened to the audiobook. While the narrator’s relentless breathless drama grated on my nerves, I appreciated it as the perfect voice for this very teen novel. Because it’s clearly a YA novel, it didn’t bother me SO much that Melissa’s kidnapping of Kess and many years of identity theft were glossed over and that when Kess’s dad does track her down, he thoughtfully drowns in a frozen lake after conveniently first trying to murder her so she doesn’t even have to feel conflicted about his death.
Kess’s earlier warm loving memories of a great dad who gives her a favorite stuffed monkey are more consistent with an abuser. That’s how abusers find victims. They don’t just start out punching cute girls in the face. There’s a whole cycle (honeymoon, tension, explosion, reconciliation) This could have been explored more in the Megan-Eddie story arc. This is a teen novel, no harm in sprinkling in a little afterschool special. Melissa could have even alluded to this, told the whole love story gone brutally wrong. Instead, it’s just I knew he would kill me, so I faked our deaths and spent the next 12 years living on the brink of starvation.
It would be much more in keeping if he had love-bombed Kess when he found her rather than announcing his plans to hurt her mom and then trying to kill Kess.
That would have made a better book, but this made a much more YA book. Yay, girl power.
Also please pay no mind to the people whose identities were stolen. I’m sure they will appreciate the random pink carnations some creeper left on their daughter’s tombstone.

Kess has spent her life trailing after her mother from one town to another, never staying long, never forming connections, and never understanding why the two of them live such a nomadic existence. But then out of the blue, she learns that her mom’s best friend (whom Tess has never met or even heard of) has been in a car accident so they’re headed to Delphine, Pennsylvania to take over Madame Amalia’s Psychic Shoppe while Ammy lingers in a coma. (Delphi-ne, like the oracle – get it?) Kess lives for field hockey and joins the high school team, but a hard hit awakens her latent ability to see the future. At first, it’s just minor things like a spilled cup of coffee, but soon the visions begin to predict danger for Poppy (her new bestie), Miles (her sweet love interest), and eventually Kess herself. Suspicious of her mom’s endless obfuscation, Kess digs through hidden files in Ammy’s shop, which leaves her with the sinking feeling that her mom is covering up a murder. Kess’s limited social experience leads to some poor decisions and makes it hard for her to be open with her new friends. While her circumstances are highly unusual, teen readers will identify with her prickly demeanor, impulsive behavior, troubled sense of self, and exasperation with her mom’s lack of candor. Debut novelist Eileen Ruvane uses Kess’s premonitions as a way to explore questions of perpetual interest to young adults about fate versus free agency. Does Kess have the power to change the future or is what she foresees set in stone? Kess’s visions appear throughout the text in an italic font, making it easy for readers to distinguish between the real world and the prophetic. The book ends with a surprising twist that I absolutely did not see coming and may send readers back to the beginning of the story to search for missed clues. Tell Me My Future by Eileen Ruvane was captivating from the very first page. By 40 Days Before the Bells, I couldn't put it down. The mystery had me on the edge of my seat with that wonderful, twisty-turny thriller feeling of, what in the world is going to happen next?
Beyond the mystery itself and the satisfaction of watching all the pieces come together, I really loved the character development. Kess Turner is a fierce protagonist, and we get to grow alongside her as she navigates friendship, love, and the realization that sometimes "being fine" isn't really the answer.
If you love YA mysteries and thrillers, this captivating debut is for you. And even if that's not usually your genre, I think Tell Me My Future has something for everyone. It certainly didn't disappoint me!

As a semi-retired independent bookshop owner this is perhaps the most compelling YA mystery I've read in years. The characters are well developed, the plot twists & turns, and the ending was totally unexpected. If teenage jargon (smattering of everyday curse words), HS school friends & bullies, mother daughter angst, troubling secrets, and a well written plot line that never bores sounds perferct this should be your next read! Young adults and adults with teenage memories & lovers of mysteries will equally enjoy!!

I was so happy to read an advanced copy of Tell Me My Future by Eileen M. Ruvane. This powerfully suspenseful debut is a page-turner that kept me guessing from start to finish, great both for a cozy winter afternoon or a summer read. The psychic shop and visions add a really cool layer to a story that ultimately involves great characters who are easy to connect with, especially Kess, whose search for answers drives the narrative. There are plenty of surprises along the way as the mystery (and Kess's visions) intensifies; I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and highly recommend! 5 stars!

Ruvane’s TELL ME MY FUTURE is a compelling mystery filled with suspense, secrets, and surprises. The protagonist Kess deals with an uncommunicative mother, a move to yet another new town, and strange and scary visions of the future. As the story progresses through unexpected twists and turns, Kess faces revelations about her past and serious threats in the present. This intricately plotted novel has a surprising and powerful ending. Highly recommended as a book that races to a thrilling conclusion.

This book is a serious page-turner. It's so fun to follow the breadcrumbs of clues in Kess's visions — they had me guessing and wondering at every turn. Every page of Tell Me My Future felt intentional. Kess is a great character, and watching her grow and change throughout the book made her a really fun character to root for!

I have to agree with Harlan Coben, this was a "powerhouse debut". And don't let the teen demographic fool you, this mystery is thrilling for adults too! Tell Me My Future was a page turner and I can't wait to read more from Eileen.

I thoroughly enjoyed this engaging read. It was fast-paced, engaging, and kept me guessing about the full extent of the mystery until the end. I highly recommend it. The biggest downside is that I would have loved a full backstory on Madame Amalia's life and activities, maybe a pre-quel?

A thrilling and beautiful novel! I absolutely loved the ending, and I did not see the reveal or the twist coming but it fit perfectly. Payoff was well worth the journey through this mysterious thriller!

As a school librarian, I love seeing YA that has something new to offer. There's so much romantasy flooding the market, so this caught my eye. The addition of the psychic element and the visions will be a great hook for teens. And although the mystery is well done, page-turner full of suspense, the strong female protagonist, the quality voice in the writing and the character development really stand out. The characters are fully formed and the arc of the main character and her relationships really drive the story and give it heart. Students will love this fun thriller. Highly recommend.
