To avert an impending life of servitude, Bethany Cook seeks freedom on a wagon train bound for gold country. Disguised as a young boy she secures work as a travel companion with Thomas Nolan, a rich New Yorker who is on his own quest to distance himself from the nightmare of a fraudulent marriage.
A cross-country journey by Thomas’ side proves more difficult than Bethany anticipated when he becomes obsessed with her true identity—the golden haired beauty he shared one night of passion with. Bethany attempts to confess the truth, but a bounty hunter exposes her as a devious woman that lied to Thomas for months for her own evil gain. Her life and her heart now rest in the hands of Thomas, who must decide if he can forgive and marry her or leave her to the fate she’s brought upon herself.
Ciara Knight is a USA Today bestselling and Maggie Award-winning author of heartwarming romance.
Her popular sweet romance series, Sweetwater County (rated for all audiences and enjoyed by over a million readers), is a small-town romance full of family trials, friendly competition, and community love.
I don’t read a lot of westerns, but I wanted to review Fools Rush because despite not reading a lot of westerns, that doesn’t mean I don’t want to, and I liked the premise about the main character hiding her true identity. I wasn’t dissapointed at all, in fact, I think I’ve (re)discovered my love for the wild, wild west.
Bethany is pretty awesome. She’s headstrong and stubborn at times, but she’s also independent, loyal, hard-working, and caring for others. She’s actually quite honest, despite having to pose as a young boy. It’s life that forces her to be dishonest but in her heart, she wants nothing more than to tell the truth, especially to Thomas. I did find her journey, her quest for freedom, inspiring.
Thomas is the brooding hero – he has had so many troubles in his life, so much heartbreak and betrayal, he fears he might never love again, or even trust someone. Despite that, he too is very caring and strong. Surprisingly, he kind of reminded me of heroes from gothic novels, the brooding yet strong type. It was strange but refreshing to see one of those turn up in a western!
I liked how the relationship wasn’t instantly there. Thomas and Bethany have a lot of hurdles to overcome if they want to be together…and if you want to find out if they do get their happily ever after, well, I suggest you start reading.
This is a lovely easy read that holds the reader captive to the end. The story line is credible and the characters grow as the story progresses. While there are some steamy scenes there is no foul language and nor is there any 'dirty talk'.
Without giving plot spoilers this was a refreshing read in that the main male character stood up for treating women 'right' no matter who they were. The female lead is also refreshing in not being a wilting violet and working hard to make her way to the place she wants to be while disguising herself as a boy.
I enjoyed this book and have no problem recommending it to anyone who likes a good romance. I would certainly consider buying the next books too.

Loved this book. It is well written, the story is wonderful. It had everything that makes a good romance, intrigue, drama, action,,sad, and funny moment. You have to read about the sock incident I spewed my coffee when I read it. This book would make an awesome western movie.

Grab your copy today and become part of Bethanys journey.
I was given this book to read for an honest review, so here it is. I must say that westerns are not really the genre I normally read but this one was just awesome. It reminded me of the old TV shows of the westerns from my youth.
Bethany is a heroine that any reader would just fall in love with, she is smart and knows what she wants. She is one of those characters that you are cheering for and hope that she will have a happy ending. She works hard, never complains and doesn't let her own safety or desires get in the way of giving to others. She is an honest person who puts others above herself.
The hero of the story, Thomas, is one of those you just know has a long history of sorrow in his life and that he is afraid to ever trust again. He is a strong character who only wants to help others but has locked down his heart. It is fun to watch those walls get chinks in them but it is also frustrating because he just doesn't see what is right in front of him.
No spoilers here so I am not going to tell you what happens in this story. It has some great twists and turns that you will not expect. There are some side characters that you don’t realize how important they are to the story until the end. Again for someone who doesn't read westerns, I really enjoyed this book. So don’t let the genre stop you from reading it, you will not be sorry because it is really worth the read
Fools Rush by Ciara Knight Bethany Cook feels she must escape the life she has been dealt. She finds herself a victim of abuse by the owners of the merchandise she is working at. She decides to stow away as a boy and join a wagon train. She finds herself on this cross-country trip as cook and assistant to a wealthy New Yorker Thomas Nolan. It is when Thomas purchases his supplies at the merchantable that hey first meet. She is Bethany soon to become Bart and hitch a ride with him. Thomas hires the young lad and takes him under his wing. But Thomas always remembers the Bethany he met in the store never realizing Bart is Bethany. I'm a sucker for girls disguising themselves as boys but this one was done to perfection. Loved this book.
A wonderful book by Ciara Knight! I couldn't put it down nor read fast enough. The story of Bethany and Thomas; each one putting up walls in their heart and trying to escape the past. This book made me smile, laugh and even cry. Join them on their wagon train out west and enjoy their story! There are a few steamy scenes sprinkled within as well.
