Sinners Do It Better #4

The Devil and His Ghost

Kendyll

I've always seen them. Ghosts. The paranormal should scare me, but instead, I feel at home among the ethereal beings, none more so than the demon who has always popped in and out of my life. He haunts me. He lingers in the shadows of my dark secret as the only source of light. He's the monster hiding in my closet. But I don't mind. After all, the things that go bump in the night don't scare me. There's something far worse out there, and it might be catching up to me.

Xander

She ruined me. Stole my black heart from my chest to teach it warmth and light before crushing it in her palm to scatter the ashes in the wind. She haunts me. She lingers in the shadows of the secret I'm keeping. She's the ghost that possesses me day and night. But I don't mind. After all, I'm a demon on the hunt for the wounds she inflicts. And I'd let her hurt me again. I welcome the pain, so long as it's from her.

I couldn’t put this book down and had to stay up to finish it. All of the characters felt so special. Kendyll and Xander have my heart. This book had me laughing and sobbing. Be sure to check trigger warnings because this book has some really hard trauma. But the way that Sylver writes feels so special. There’s only one book left in this series and I can’t wait for it, but don’t want it to end. I’ve loved them all.

This book broke me— Waking my husband in the middle of the night because of my sobbing, type of breaking. I have mixed feelings about the ending, which is why I didn’t give the book a solid 5✨rateing. The ending is happy-ish? It makes sense for the characters, but it also isn’t really a Typical ending. I had to sit and think on this one to be sure how I felt about it before writing my review. That being said, this book is amazing. I was hooked from page one. Sylver is such an amazing story teller, and the characters of the Sinners Do It Better series are just so damn good. The Devil And His Ghost follows Xander and Kendyll (Mr. Monster & his Ghost). Through this book you meet Kendyll as a child and the story progresses as she ages with her many encounters with Xander in between. If you love Demons, Musicians, women that can talk to ghosts(including her ghost cat), asylums with ghosts, mystery, and a deep-time-spanning-longing, this book is for you. Please check your triggers for your own mental health. And do yourself a giant favor and read the entire series. Although these books can be read as standalones, I highly suggest that you don’t read them out of order. Ya know, for timeline and character development purposes. grab your tissues book babes.

I look to my left and see a small kitten emerge from behind the pole as I'm waiting for the walking sign to turn GREEN. Smiling, I bend down to pet the kitten, taking note that I have just a few more seconds of RED until I'll be crossing the street. The kitten gives a cute eye smile as it tilts it's head up letting me know that it wants an under the chin scratch as well. I obey the request and ask the sweet kitty, "where did you come from?"

It mews in response and then abruptly darts off behind me as a horn blares at the stop sign where someone on the other side crossing was not moving fast enough for the impatient driver. I sigh dramatically while getting back up and notice I have two other individuals currently next to me staring with wide eyes. As I make eye contact with each one, they dart their vision over to the front just as the light turned green - quickly making their way across the street…more than likely to try and get away from what appears to be the crazy person in front of them.

If you haven't guessed yet, that crazy person is me, but I'm used to it by now. In fact, once I've gotten a handle of understanding things that I see are sometimes not seen by "regular people" by the time I was in my 20s, my 30s have been a breeze in shrugging off any judgmental looks that I receive on a daily basis. You see, I have this special, let's call it "gift", where I am able to see and speak to the dead. And that little kitten that just came by? He was actually a spirit of a kitten who had crossed over. Thus, while I bent down to give scratches to the adorable, sweet kitty, everyone else saw me "petting air".

I shake my head and jog over the crosswalk just in time before the light turned RED.

Just as I get to the other side, I notice a few other "ghosts" who appear to be waiting to cross the street next. I smile at them and say "excuse me", both shocked that I am able to see them and acknowledge their presence. Just as I step around the ghostly couple, I run into what feels like a brick wall, falling backwards toward the concrete. A strong hand with two black rings grabs my wrist and steadies me as I look up to see what, or should I say "who", I had just ran into.

Staring down at me, staggering well over my measly four feet eleven inches, is the most attractive man I have ever seen in my life. He stares at me and then what looks to be recognition shifts onto his face as he sighs and says "FINALLY."

Before I begin my review of this AMAZING read, I do want to note that this is actually the FOURTH book within a series by the author Sylver Michaela that comes out on SEPTEMBER 25 2026. I have not read any of the other books before but was able to dive into this story with no issue nor needing to understand anything that has happened within any of the other three books before this one. Since each book is focused solely on a specific couple, and can be treated as a standalone, it was easy to just pick up and journey through the love story of the current couple featured on the book. Thus, if you are someone who is curious whether to read the other three books before this one, I did not personally have any issue and now find myself wanting to pick the other three to read after finishing this one.

This is also a book that time travels quite a bit from "BEFORE" and "PRESENT TIME" - so if you aren't a fan of this type of storyline, you might want to side with caution as it is used quite a bit. I do agree that sometimes the "time traveling" that occurs in showcasing "BEFORE" and "CURRENT" can be confusing but found the way the author did it was in an easy to understand pattern that I never found myself lost or bored during the storyline like I have with other reads that used this same technique in the past.

With that in mind, let's talk a little bit about the book and the tropes that you'll find within…

We have our FMC Kendyll, who has the ability to see the paranormal since a very young age. She finds herself locked within a closet hiding away from the "scary man" when our MMC Xander appears next to her. Hoping to get a little "scaring fun" out of the young child, he turns to her and she instantly smiles, even calling him her "Mr. Monster". To make matters even more strange, she grabs onto his horns which has not been a reaction he has ever received before. As a mischief demon he was looking for terror but this was definitely not what he expected. He makes his way through the strange interaction and darts out of the home, shaking off the "crazy encounter" he just had as he makes his way back to his bandmates from their band, Sinners Do It Better, at their usual hangout spot.

Fast forward years later and you see that Kendyll and Xander have found their way back together again - different circumstances this time around. In fact, the two MCs have found themselves meeting each other at different points throughout the story where they find themselves in an ultimate, yet traumatic, love story, filled with undying chemistry, instant connection, and emotional depth.

Some of the tropes that you will find are:

👹Demon/Paranormal Romance
👹Friends To Lovers
👹Trauma Bonded MCs
👹Grumpy x Sunshine
👹Touch Her And Die
👹 Monster Rockstar Romance

When I mention "traumatic", I'm not even lying. I was definitely not expecting to find myself crying but here we are with wet eyes and a heavy heart. When you read these other reviews stating how the author "ripped the rug" underneath of them, this is 10000% true. So fair warning to anyone picking this up, you will find yourself COMPLETELY gutted toward 90% - so be prepared. I read this while on the plane on my trip and embarrassed the heck out of myself as I was letting out small "no's" and gasps. I don't want to give too much away - but just believe me when I say you'll need those tissues handy. But the entire story of the relationship between the two was absolutely beautiful, raw, and so, so real - that I found myself entirely consumed with their relationship even well after completing the book.

As I mentioned previously, this book does perform a "time traveling" aspect where you find yourself flashing back to help piece everything together in understanding how you got to the present day. I applaud the author in the way they did this as sometimes flashbacks can be difficult to portray when writing and absorbing when reading. This one did fantastic with that and really enjoyed it.

The ending of the storyline, however, is what made me dock this from FIVE STARS to FOUR STARS. I contemplated quite a bit over whether this was a FIVE STAR READ versus a FOUR STAR READ as the ending just didn't sit right with me…not because it wasn't meant to be this way; more just a personal preference that I would have liked this to end differently than how it did. I wanted to give this FIVE STARS so bad as I could not, for the life of me, put this down and was entranced the entire time reading this - it's just the ending that didn't sit right with me and would have preferred a different outcome.

Overall, I greatly enjoyed my read and absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a new read to add to your growing TBR. The mixture between ROCKSTAR ROMANCE and DEMON/PARANORMAL ROMANCE was 100% right up my alley and cannot wait to pick up the other books already released in this same series!

WOW. JUST WOW.

Sylver has done it again with the fourth installment in this series. Xander and Kendyll are beautifully tragic, and this book will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions. Their story was messy, heartbreaking, and intense.

And the paranormal aspect?! SO well done. It added an eerie layer to the story that was genuinely spooky at times without ever overpowering the romance.

Thank you Sylver for this eARC in exchange for an honest review!

Review of advance copy received by the author.

“Sinners do it better” is my favorite dark/demon romance series and I’m so grateful to have received this ARC and finally get to read Xanders story 💕

One of the things I’ve raved about in my reviews of the previous books is the spice! 🔥 The spice was super spicy and pretty kinky and I ate it up. I mean that was some of the best spice I’ve ever read 👌🏼
This book however feels different and definitely a lot less spicy. I kept waiting for those deliciously kinky scenes I’ve come to love and expect from this series, but they never really came. It’s still spicy, but not like the previous books.

Another thing I love about this series is how Sylver always writes these interesting characters filled with so much emotional depth and trauma and this book is no different.
I LOVED Xander, he’s probably my new favorite Sinners MMC. Contrary to the other books, he’s the one who falls first and he is so good to Kendyll. He’s funny, considerate, protective, emotional and a true consent king 👑🔥
Kendyll has lived through so much trauma already and she’s a mess, always running because she don’t want to deal with her past. She’s build these massive walls around her and Xander is the only one she lets in.
I love how they are when they’re together and how they keep returning to each other even when they try to fight it 💕 It really is such a bittersweet love story for most of the book.

There’s a dual timeline throughout the book and I really enjoyed that, it told the story in such a beautiful way.
I also loved how Xander and Kendyll met the first time and how their relationship developed throughout the years. Another thing about this book that I thoroughly enjoyed is the paranormal aspect, it is so freaking cool. Ghosts, an abandoned mental asylum, it has proper horror vibes at times, I love it 🫣🙋🏽‍♀️
There’s some really great found family moments throughout the book and I always love that.

This book has a major plot twist. Some will figure it out pretty easily and others will be absolutely blindsided by it (in the best way possible). I guessed it really early on, I’ve read a book with a similar plot twist, but I was really hoping I was wrong. I can’t really explain why, I was just hoping for literary anything else 😅
I wasn’t wrong and even though I’m not a big fan of this plot twist or the ending I still cried a little a few times, because it was so beautifully written.
Most of you will probably LOVE this plot twist and the ending and cry your eyes out. It will rip your heart out and put it back in place ❤️

I really wish I loved this book more than I do, but this was my least favorite so far (even though Xander is my favorite MMC). I was disappointed with the spice and the plot twist wasn’t what I wished for (but that’s a me thing). I suspect this book will get a lot of 5 stars reviews and I get that. To me it was more like 3.5 stars because of my issues with it, but absolutely not because of the writing or the characters, which is amazing as always 💕

Now I just can’t wait for Coldin! I mean his story has to be absolutely unhinged 😅😂🔥🔥🔥

I honestly don’t even know where to start.
Maybe with the fact that I sat there for an entire hour just staring at and rereading the final page of this book.
The Sinners Do It Better series surprised me so much, but out of all of them, this one definitely stole my heart completely.
There are so many things I loved about this book, starting with the way it was written, going back and forth between the past and the present. This structure allows us to slowly understand the story and how the relationship between these two characters began.
And speaking of them… Xander and Kendyll are something else entirely. Their relationship goes way beyond anything I could possibly explain.
I loved that he was the one who fell first and didn’t even realize it until much later. But most of all, I loved watching their relationship evolve from friends and roommates into slowly becoming each other’s person.
The way Xander was always there for her, even when Kendyll was trying to run away from everything and everyone. How, despite her past and all the times she tried to escape, he eventually became one of the most important people in her life.
I thought the whole story was incredible. From the premise of Kendyll being able to see ghosts, her job, and all the background behind her story, to the way every little piece eventually comes together.
This book made me laugh, it made me cry, and most of all, it broke me. I’m not even going to lie—it broke me so badly.
And that twist in the final chapters… I was completely blindsided. 😭
Something else I absolutely loved was Xander’s group of friends. The way they were always there for him, and how even their girlfriends became such an important source of support for both Xander and Kendyll. I love when a romance also manages to create that feeling of family and support around the main characters.
This was a book I truly enjoyed, and one I would absolutely recommend.
If you decide to give this series, and especially this book, a chance, I highly recommend reading the content warnings first, because it deals with some pretty sensitive topics.
But if there’s one thing I can say after finishing this book, it’s this:
Xander and Kendyll took a little piece of my heart with them. 🥹🖤

Infinite stars!

I've been obsessed with the Sinners Do It Better Series ever since I read the first book "The Devil And His Sparrow", where we also first meet Xander our MMC, so to say I was excited to read his book is an understatement!

We got some tiny crumbs of his story throughout the series and I couldn't wait to get to know him better and get the whole picture!

Sylver definitely did not dissapoint! This story had it's beautiful hooks in me from the first page and I finished it in 24 hours (sleep who?)

I absolutely loved this other side we got to see of Xander. Though we do get glimpses of this Xander in the other books when he hints on getting his heart broken and being the first of the band to fall in love with a human, as a mischief demon he's normally all fun and games, but when it comes to Kendyll that changes quickly.

Kendyll’s character developement was amazing. She’s broken and tries but thinks she can’t be "fixed". I loved how the other girls were so understanding and accepting of her right away. I keep saying this but they're the perfect found family and the most supportive girls girls you will ever meet! And don't even get me started on Catsper! I need a ghost cat now!

I will be sending my therapy bill to Sylver cause that plottwist fcked me up real good! She completly shattered me before putting back the pieces together again and I don't shatter easily!

Although this is book 4 in the series, they can all be read as a standalone, but I do highly recommend you read it in order for the best experience and to avoid spoilers for the previous couples! Do check the trigger warnings as they have dark and heavy topics!

I should know by now that if I pick up a book by this author that one of three things are going to happen.. one...I'm not going to be able to put it down...and two...it's going to absolutely wreck me in the best way possible, and three...I'm probably going to shed some tears.

And wrecked me it did...from the very beginning when we meet this little girl who is so special and incredible, yet so misunderstood meets her Mr. Monster...to the very end when we realize that nothing is ever as it seems...and well... it left me feeling haunted.

Kendyll, the FMC, this sweet soul has been through so much in her short life. And yet she's so incredibly gifted and has a heart of gold.

Xander, the MMC, is a mischievous demon/rockstar, that manages to make friends with his little ghost by accident, and yet there's just something about her that keeps his interest.

These two orbit around each other, and it's such a bitter sweet love story. He's her Mr. Monster...he keeps the other monsters away..or at least he tries to. And she's his little ghost...despite her trying to help ghosts...she really just haunts him.

Their connection is instant and their chemistry is undeniable.

How this book managed to be so incredibly hot and emotional all at the same time had my head spinning...but ain't mad about it.

And just when I think that these two have slayed their inner demons....this author ripped the rug right out from underneath me...did I cry...yes, yes I did.

I can say that with this Author I can never predict what is going to happen or how the story is going to go....and it's so refreshing.

I absolutely loved Kendyll and Xander's story. It was everything I had hoped for and so much more.

And we got to see even more of our beloved other characters...and COLDIN!!! iykyk....

I can’t say enough good things about this author. I absolutely love her writing style and every one of her characters. This series just keeps getting better and better. Sinners Do It Better is one of the best series I have ever read. The Devil and His Ghost was absolutely amazing. The characters, their story, their past together and apart, their struggles and their triumphs. This book is about the bass player of the band, Xander and his Ghost, Kendyl. They meet when Kendyl is just a child. They meet again after she is all grown up and she has endured so much trauma. Not only was she hospitalized to a mental institution because she could see ghosts and everyone thought she was crazy, but also to keep her quiet and discredit her and the things she could possibly say about her adoptive parents. Xander helps her to escape the hospital and lets her stay with him in his home. Kendyl quickly starts to have feelings for him that he doesn’t return. She ends up leaving in the middle of the night with no explanation or goodbye. They meet again years later. Xander falls for her and wants to help her have all the moments she missed out on as a child and young adult in a mental institution. During a job and a haunted hospital, the very same hospital that Kendyl was admitted to as a child, they come in contact with a very bad and powerful demon. Needless to say, Xander quickly realizes that he has to tell Kendyl a secret that he has been keeping from her that he knows will cause him to lose her completely. This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. There is romance, past trauma, flashbacks, magic, demons, ghosts/spirits, spice and plot. This book will have you feeling all the emotions. I highly, highly recommend you check out this series. You will not be disappointed.

From the very beginning in the Sinners do it better series I have found myself feeling so deeply for these characters.... Laughing, crying, wanting to throw things... and consistently falling in love with every character.

This Series has absolutely blown me away..... the devil and his ghost is no exception.
No question, the best book I've read this year.
We are introduced to Kendall... a ghost seeing, broken, young girl with strength like no other. AKA ghost. We are finally introduced to Xander, our Mischief demon , AKA Mr Monster.
This story is beautiful and in the same breath heartbreaking.
A story of true love and true sacrifice. Kendall and Xander show us what it means to accept someone fully out of pure love.
In this story we see that there is ugliness in this world that could truly destroy someone's chances of finding the love they deserve.... And that there are things that are far scarier in the shadows than a demon.
Check your triggers before reading this story.
"While we felt alone, broken, and helpless, we found a home with a demon who didn’t ask us to be anything other than exactly who we are. Flaws and all. Past and all. They love us, not because we’re easy or perfect or even whole. They love us because we are worthy. We are allowed. We are capable, and we deserve to be happy.”

I am officially sending my therapy bill straight to Sylver because Xander and Kendyll's story completely and utterly DESTROYED me! 😭😭💔 I finished this in 24 hours (sleep who?) and sat there for a full hour after turning the final page, just staring into space and sobbing. I do not shatter easily, but this book took my heart, stomped on it, put the pieces back together, and then stole it forever.

He’s a chaotic mischief demon rockstar who acts as her "Mr. Monster" to keep the real monsters away, and she’s a sweet, traumatized soul who can speak to ghosts—and even adopted a ghost cat named Catsper (I NEED a ghost cat now 🐈‍⬛👻). We’ve seen Xander as the fun prankster in the earlier Sinners Do It Better books, but watching him fall first and fall so deeply for Kendyll, becoming her ultimate safe space whenever she tried to run, made me melt. The story flips back and forth between past and present, slowly peeling back the layers of her trauma, her job at an eerie abandoned psychiatric hospital, and how their souls have been tethered for years.

Between the spooky paranormal vibes, the incredible found-family support from the rest of the crew, and a jaw-dropping twist in the final chapters that pulled the rug completely out from under me, this book had me in an absolute chokehold. You need tissues, a comfort snack, and an emotional support pet ready before you start this one!

This one is definitely a great book to read for Halloween or the October season lol

You're gonna need your tissues for this one. Wouldn't hurt to have your comfort snack handy too and if you have a pet, be sure they're ready for all the cuddles and emotional support...you'll need it after reading this book.
There's trauma, suspense, a haunted hospital, ghost hunting, a romance that's complicated, but with reason. There's darkness that lurks and the reveal of it, is shocking. There's revenge.
But most importantly, there's absolute heart shattering truth revealed in the end.

I've loved this series so much, but this one goes a little differently than the first 3.
Xander & Kendyll are just EVERYTHING!
Their story had me in a chokehold and than by the end I was absolutely shattered.
.
I just adored Kendyll's character. She's able to see ghosts and speak with them. Including a ghost cat that she's sorta adopted. 🥰 oh how I love Catsper. 🐈‍⬛
But she also has a traumatic past. That has her struggling with life in general.
Secrets that even when told, no one believed her.
But when she needed someone the most...Xander mysteriously crosses her path.
And their story strangely starts there, although technically it won't really begin till many years later.
Xander though, seeing him in the previous books you wouldn't imagine him as an emotional demon. He's a mischief demon who enjoys causing well, mischief. But underneath all that, he's got a heart that beats for only one person.
.
It's honestly difficult for me to write this review without spoiling anything.
I just highly recommend this book. This series. And I'm also sending over my therapy invoice to Sylver. 😭
I also wish I could physically hug these characters. 😭

Thank you Sylver for the arc and having me on your team. 🫶🏻

I signed up to be an ARC reader because I just couldn't wait to read the next installment of the Sinners Do It Better series. And let me just say... I'm so glad I did. I loved all the previous books but I think this one is my favorite (so far!).

It once again follows a Human (Kendyll) and her demon (Xavier) but unlike the previous books, these two were already well acquainted with each other and I loved that change in the dynamic. It shows a different side to the demons that we haven't seen before and as always the demons weren't the monsters of the story. Time jumps were used but in a way that made sense and weren't confusing like they can be in other books.

The emotional Rollercoaster I went on during the last like three chapters of the book? It was perfect, I really like it when books take you on that kind of journey but then still leave you completely surprised in the end. I loved it even more that the twists and surprises still took me by surprise because I pride myself on being able to see what twists would be before they come and I was taken completely off guard which was so refreshing.

I absolutely loved this book and I hope that you pick it up too. If you love the more paranormal side of things, like Ghost Whisperer/Ghost Files with an added consent king of spice, and a ghost cat with one of the best names I've read for a pet, then this is the book for you.

Sylver, what have you done to me? 😭😭😭😭

Wow, I haven’t cried that much over a book in ages! I’m glad you saved the big emotional punch for the end.

It all starts when a little girl named Kendyll meets her Mr. Monster, Xander, a mischief demon who wanders into her house looking to boost his power by stirring up some fear. That’s where the pinky promises begin. A promise he made just to escape the kid who didn’t know boundaries when it comes to personal space.

Kendyll has a unique ability, which, as a child, became the perfect excuse to have her committed to hide the truth about her situation. Their paths cross again just before her 18th birthday, and he helps her escape the torment she’s endured for most of her childhood at the hospital. He gets her out and decides to let her stay at his place since he is not there often. His “pet fish”. She has a lot of trauma and doesn’t stick around long.

He breaks his promises often, and she’s a runner.

Somehow, they keep getting pulled back together a few years later. Every time she runs. Then they eventually reconnect to catch up.

This was an incredible story! I had a slight hint of what was coming, but I wasn’t fully prepared until that scene actually happened.

Also… Coldin is next, right? He’s the only one left! You can’t keep us waiting! 🤣

I haven't read a book by Sylver that I haven't loved and The Devil and His Ghost is no different. It is book 4 in the Sinners Do it Better series and honestly, it is fighting for top spot being my fave in the series. If you know how much I love the other 3 books, you know that is saying something.

Where do I begin?! Its just perfect. The setting, vibes, chemistry, plot and all the feelings consumed me.

Kendyll is resilient and sassy. Did I mention she can see ghosts? And has a ghost cat?? She has experienced more life than most but she keeps on keeping on. She catches the eye of one of our fave band members. If you have read the other books, you've met Xander. And you may think you have him pegged, but I can confirm, he will surprise you. He is not what he seems (aside from the whole demon thing). She may fall first, but let me just say, he falls so much harder.

Their relationship has a lot of history and I loved getting the background and seeing where they are now. It felt like I was watching a movie, and I loved absolutely every minute of it. I don't want to spoil anything, but will say, prepare for anything! I am so excited for TDAHGhost to be out in the wild and cannot wait for book 5.

I am such a huge fan of this series, and after three books I really thought I had Sylver Michaela’s pattern figured out. Every author, whether they mean to or not, usually has a style you start to recognize. Apparently I was very, very wrong.

This book took my heart, looked me dead in the eyes, and casually tossed it off a cliff without a second thought.

I know this entire series tackles incredibly heavy topics, and I’m no stranger to dark books, but this one absolutely wrecked me. I was crying so hard by the end. The themes aren’t necessarily darker than the previous books, but something about the way this story was told hit so much harder emotionally.

The writing was phenomenal, and I became completely obsessed with these characters. They felt so real that every painful moment landed exactly where it was supposed to.

And that twist… I never saw it coming. My jaw literally dropped. The epilogue helped heal my heart just a little, but I’m still refusing to forgive what happened before it. If a book can leave me this emotionally destroyed and still have me recommending it to everyone, that’s a sign of just how well it was written.

Just be prepared—this one doesn’t pull its punches.

✨Gifted ARC✨
This book was ghostly and mysterious and spooky and was a perfect read for my September TBR!

THOUGHTS 💭
👻 The first chapter of this book reminded me of Monster’s Inc (but darker) and I absolutely adored it.
👻 I loved that our MMC Xander and FMC Kendyll kept colliding; that life kept bringing them together.
👻 Xander was the only one who could touch Kendyll and there was something so right about it. He was her safe space who saved her from the real monsters, and I loved it.
👻 I got so frustrated with our FMC. 😭 She went through so much and her defense mechanism was to shut people out, but I didn’t like how she treated Xander at times. ☹️
👻 There were horror elements woven into this book, particularly at the psychiatric hospital. It was spooky and gory and heartbreaking.
👻 I have really been enjoying this series, but I found this book to be a slower pace with lots of flashing back and forth.
👻 The way my jaw dropped towards the end of this book!

Thanks so much to Sylver Michaela for the ARC of this book.

I was not surprised when I finished this book that it was gonna be a 5 ⭐. What I love about this series is each book takes you on a different emotional journey. The rawness that you feel for each character is truly incredible! You get something a little different with this one compared to the others. The spooky vibes of a ghost story. There was a point that my heart was racing and I felt the thrill roll through me. You also get a couple plot twists in this creation that has you gasping with the realization. I loved that I could feel the connection between the characters. I loved that I could feel their pain, fear and love. I seriously didn't want it to end! I'm excited to see how the final Sinner gets his story, and I will be waiting with baited breath. The Devil and His Ghost was absolutely hauntingly beautiful 🖤👻

Beautiful, tragic, perfection!!!

What a book!! I knew for a fact Sylver
would right another amazing book after reading the other 3 of her books from this series and by god was I right!!! This book is just spectacular. I love the structure of the whole book, the couple, the ghostly cat side kick!! I love Xander aka Mr Monster and his ghost Kendyll!! The Pinky promise theme throughout was just perfection and capture the very heart and soul of this couple. Small spoiler I don’t think I’ve ever sobbed as much both sad and happy tears at a book. Sylver has such a talent with her words and storytelling that you feel each emotion alongside the characters and this book hits you right in the feels. I’m so happy with the ending!! An all round amazing book to follow on in this spectacular series. I highly recommend this beautiful story! I pinky promise you won’t regret it!! xx

I don’t know if I can do a review where I don’t spoil anything nor give the book justice for how good it was.

I’ve been following along with the series since the first book was released and The Devil and His Sparrow had been my favorite about of the series but after finishing this one I can just say it is not only my favorite from the series but one of my favorite reads of the year.

It was just so beautiful. You got the paranormal and ghost vibes with this one. You also got childhood trauma and the constant fight that the FMC goes through trying to not let it consume her.

Their pinky promises! Listen I’m rambling but all I can say is I’ve never had the need to finish reading a book and have the need to pick it up and read it right back and this one this for me. I can’t wait for the series to be complete so I can get my book trophies.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | The Devil and His Ghost by Sylver Michaela

This book had me in an absolute chokehold from start to finish.

If you love dark paranormal romance, obsessive devotion, childhood history, and an MMC who would destroy anyone who dared touch her, add this to your TBR immediately. The chemistry is addictive, the tension is relentless, and the emotional moments hit just as hard as the spice.

The characters felt beautifully flawed, the supernatural world was immersive, and I genuinely couldn't put it down. Every "just one more chapter" turned into five.

🖤 Demon romance
👻 Childhood history
🗡️ Touch her and die
🌶️ Perfect amount of spice
💔 Emotional with a satisfying payoff

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"Respectfully… this book just raised my standards."

this series keeps getting better and better, although my top faves are tied between the devil and his sparrow & the devil and his ghost! this book was a perfect mix of everything i love, banter, emotional scenes, cute, spicy, i loveddd xander & kendyll so much. i've been waiting for xander's story to come out & it was definitely worth the wait 🥹🤍 this book was a roller coaster of emotions and they both went through so much by themselves and with eachother but i'm so glad they got the happy ending they deserved! i'm so happy i discovered sylver michaela's books because she is definitely one of my new favorite authors <3

cannot wait for the next book in the series !!!

I love the covers in this series and I really love this one. It wasn't until I started reading that I understood the significance of them holding pinky's on the cover and every time they held pinky's my heart would melt. I had been so excited to read this one. I love reading books where they can talk to ghosts and this one did not disappoint. This book takes you on a roller coaster of emotions. The last few chapters had my heartbreaking!! I was crying! It wasn't until a few chapters before the reveal that I realized what happened, and it just broke my heart even more. This is a must-read, and it is officially my favorite in the series. They can be read on their own, but I HIGHLY recommend reading in order for a better reading experience.

G.A.G.G.E.D. The PLOTTTTTTWIST. I was really wondering what was going to happen and what the big thing was and then it happened and oh my god I started SOBBING. I don’t cry at a lot of books anymore but this made me cry.

Kendyll my sweet poor tortured girl. The whole premise of her character was so fascinating like as soon as I started reading I knew this was gonna be a my favorite in the series

AND XANDER sweet little demonic lover boy. Oh my god the yearning of this man.

They were absolutely so fuckinf perfect for eachother all of the different plot lines were also so interesting this shit was amazing.

Now. GIVE ME COLDIN AND ADDIE NOWWWWWWWWWW. Low key want him to be this “prince of darkness” they keep referring to.

This book was AMAZING! I already fell in love with the first 3 books in this series, and this one was no different. I'm so thankful I was offered the chance for this ARC. Xander's love for Kendyll is EVERYTHING! I love that it goes between the past and the present to give more background on how they met and the struggles they faced together. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but there are definitely some twists in this I didn't see coming. And as with her other Sinners Do It Better books, I of course cried because the way she writes these characters and their stories, I feel all their emotions. So worth the read!

I’ve been obsessed with this series since book one so it’s no surprise I loved this one too! The concept of Kendyll was different and I loved her character so much, and her ghost cat?! So cute 🐈‍⬛🥺 That being said, this book also hurt my heart ok? Like I was full on crying. Xander & Kendyll experienced so so much, all I wanted for them was to be happy 😩 I wasn’t expecting the twist in this story at all which ultimately led to my crying session LOL and then the ending was like “haha syke” so I’m honestly conflicted on how I feel over the ending. But overall, I still loved the characters, their story, and finally getting a look into who Xander is. Can’t wait for the next one 🖤

Sylver has done it again!!! I swear every new book in this series I say is my new favorite but it’s just hard to choose!! It’s a solid tie between this one and the devil and his Star!

This one had me laughing out loud, kicking my feet giggling, on the edge of my seat NEEDING to know what happens next, and BAWLING! 😭

I was NOT expecting the thriller like twists and turns in this one but man it was so freaking good!! I also didn’t see the ending coming at all which I always LOVE because predictably becomes boring.

5/5 ⭐️ EASY!
3/5 🌶️

Yet again Sylver has delivered an emotional rollercoaster of a book. Kendyll is a deeply traumatised FMC and it is gut wrenching to piece together exactly what she has been through as the story progresses and more of her past is revealed. She is, understandably, very flawed but she owns those flaws and her trauma and is actively trying to grow and heal.
Xander is such a compelling MMC. For all his demonic darkness he is one of the most devoted, patient, loyal and protective MMCs I have ever read. He doesn’t always get things right but I love the way he owns his mistakes and tries to grow and rectify them.
The story weaves between past and present perfectly to build the picture of Kendyll and Xander’s relationship and evoke maximum emotional investment before unleashing a twist that completely takes you out - Yes, Sylver made me cry again!
I enjoyed seeing our favourites from the previous books and the way the girls are there for each other and immediately ready to offer that support to Kendyll.
This series is without doubt my favourite paranormal romance series and this book is yet another fine example of why SDIB have my heart in a chokehold!
