A celebration of the hare, covering its role in nature and its appearances in myth and legend
Elusive, ethereal, and evocative—the hare permeates our consciousness like no other creature. Despite facing ever-increasing environmental pressures, it still retains its ability to both delight and confound in equal measure. Published in conjunction with The Hare Preservation Trust, this book offers a unique insight into this most fascinating of creatures; from its place in nature to its many appearances in art and literature. With never before published scientific research and original artwork from Jackie Morris this is a unique and long overdue look at the hare in all its many guises.
A wonderfully illustrated book about an animal once regarded as sacred but now threatened by changes in land use, construction (and blood sports that have no place in the twenty-first century). The book contains lovely pictures as well as snippets of folklore and natural history that recapture the mystical nature of hares.
I cannot say enough about this amazing, beautiful book. From the natural history of hares to their appearances in art and literature this book is a delight. I don't want to go into too much detail because I would rather leave you to discover it's wonders for yourself.
A great wee book all about hares in the British Isles. An easy book to read with lots of photos and illustrations about the natural history and history of hares on these islands. An enjoyable read.
It was out of print, but I found a high-quality used copy online.
