Way of Forgiveness: Exorcism of Licinious
AWARD-WINNING SCI-FI SHORT BOOK!
DREAMSCAPE WARRIORS SHORT BOOK
Way of Exorcism of Licinious is book #1 in the Bestselling Sci-Fi Short Book Series based on the Dreamscape Warriors Novel Series . Each book gives readers a chance to explore the backstories of the various characters who appear in Award-Winning author Kurt Springs’ Science Fiction novels.
This short book highlights the protagonist, Liam O’Connor, who learns about forgiveness when he confronts the ghost of Licinious, his nemesis, who murdered his parents and foster parents. Liam’s journey in this story gives the background for the man he is after Price of Vengeance (the 1st novel) and leads into the man he becomes in Legacy of Valor (the 2nd novel).
STORY BEHIND THE BESTSELLING SCI-FI SHORT BOOK
Author Kurt Springs explores the concept of shorter stories that fit between the larger novels. They make up the backstories of each person’s life. This idea was the catalyst for the Sci-Fi Short Book Series based on the characters in the Dreamscape Warriors Novels.
The 1st short book, Way of Exorcism of Licinious, does not begin or end with the events of Price of Vengeance (the 1st novel). Liam is not sitting idle between novels. Things happen in his life that may not fit into a full-length volume but can make a good story in a short book. It highlights Liam’s journey to understand the nature of forgiveness as he struggles through and learns from his arch-enemy, Licinious. This is achieved through Liam's "dreamwalking" abilities to communicate with his ghost.
In the 2nd short book, Evolution of Scamp to Military Leader, Deirdre (one of Liam’s triplet daughters) goes from being a scamp who always leads her siblings to mischief into a military leader. As she goes through her advanced trooper training, Deirdre learns to make responsible decisions when others’ lives are on the line. The focus of this story ties into the 2nd and 3rd novels; Legacy of Valor and Promise of Mercy which brackets this book.
Both these Short Books include a complete Reference Guide in the Appendix. This special guide gives the readers a chance to get better acquainted with the Dreamscape Warriors Universe. Learn about characters, places in the universe, and the languages spoken on the different planets. Sci-Fi Tech, as well as the weapons used by various warring factions, are also highlighted.

Way of Forgiveness: Exorcism of Licinious, by Kurt Springs.
I rarely read Science Fiction books and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed reading this book.
A school yard brawl between Liam and Jochan causes bad blood between their families and 11 years later Jochan’s father, Licinious, murders Liam’s parents and his foster parents. Liam reacts by viciously killing Licinious. Resulting in Licinious’s spirit being trapped and Liam’s life being poisoned.
The story is about how Liam has to overcome his anger and forgive Licinious in order for him to return to the Creator and for Liam to free himself.
Strong characters and a good plot make this an interesting read.

Because this was such a short tale, I was a bit undecided on the rating. Saying that, I still feel this book deserves the five stars I gave it. Meet Liam O’Connor, a man with horror in his past. His parents were murdered; Liam meets the ghost of Licinious, the one who murdered his parents. In real-life situations and in the dreamscapes, readers will learn a lot more about Liam and those around him. I found the author does a great job capturing the mood of this book, and it gives readers a peek into the author's writing style and what lies ahead in the future tales.

A path to forgiveness is forged and travelled as hero Liam O'Connor steps outside himself, quite literally, and encounters the man who murdered his parents and foster parents, Licinious. Liam comes to realize forgiveness is not about him, or even the man who wronged him. Way of Forgiveness is an engaging quick read that will welcome you back into Liam's universe and leave you excited for more. We get to see Liam's family again, his wife and triplet daughters and there's a surprise in store for everyone. Fast-paced writing, excellent world building and the feeling of coming home made Kurt Springs' latest work one of my favorite reads of the summer!

Way of Forgiveness: Exorcism of Licinious opens with an altercation between eleven-year-old Liam and Johan at school, an altercation that ignites a spark of animosity between him and his nemesis — Johan’s father, Councillor Licinious.
The animosity reaches a high note when Licinious murders Liam’s parents Seamus and Deidre and his adoptive parents lidia and Marcus, which drives Liam into seeking revenge. Liam soon finds out that revenge poisons his life. He’s trapped by it even after torturing Licinious and killing him, just as his victim’s ghost is trapped in a house that was built on the ruins of his property.
Liam’s wife warns him, “You struck him down in anger to slake your thirst for vengeance. Yet you didn’t find peace in it… You must let go of the past.”
Can he find a way to release his victim’s ghost — and himself — from the grip of the past? What does it take to find a way to forgiveness?
Five stars.

Like the other works in Kurt Spring's series of short novels, Way of Forgiveness offers a message reaching well beyond science fiction adventure. Can one forgive an enemy who committed an atrocity upon loved ones? Can one forgive oneself for committing an act of barbarous vengeance? Kurt explores the essential aspect of admission of guilt and failure before any forgiveness can be sought or granted. It is a message we should listen to in these divided and troubling times.

This story is an “in-between” tale in the Dreamscape Warriors Saga. It is a standalone tale that actually made me curious to read the DWS series. A second book is promised in this Short Book Series and I am looking forward to reading it.
