Raised Right: What Our Kids Already Know About Winning at Work
Kianna Lane started her career answering phones in a call center. Years
later, sitting in an executive leadership role, she noticed something
she couldn't shake: the best advice she'd ever given as a leader, she'd
already said to her own kids years earlier — usually while packing
lunches or driving to school.
"Say what you mean." "Own it before someone else finds out." "Nobody's
coming to clean this up for you."
We say these things to eight-year-olds like they're obvious. Then we
walk into a boardroom and forget every single one of them.
Raised Right is what happens when a mother who leads teams for a living
finally writes down the leadership lessons hiding in plain sight at her
own kitchen table. Organized around four ideas — character,
accountability, resilience, and leadership — each chapter pairs a real,
sometimes messy parenting moment with the workplace lesson it was
quietly teaching all along.
This isn't a business book that happens to mention parenting. It's the
other way around: a mother's real, occasionally chaotic family life,
read as a leadership manual she didn't know she was writing.
For working parents who've ever caught themselves saying something to
their kid and thinking — wait, I should probably be doing that too.
---
A companion journal, Raised Right: The Companion Guide & Journal, is
also available — three reflection questions for every chapter, plus a
weekly action step.

Kianna Lane
2 books1 followerKianna Lane started her career answering phones in a call center. She
didn't expect to end up leading teams in financial services — and she
definitely didn't expect the best leadership advice of her career to
come from her own kids.
Kianna holds an MBA and the RCMS credential, and has spent more than a
decade in mortgage servicing leadership. But Raised Right, her debut
book, didn't come from a business school. It came from watching her
sons, Makai and Miles, learn things like accountability and resilience
long before anyone called it "leadership" — and realizing she needed
the reminder just as much as they did.
She lives in Georgia, where she's still raising her family, still
leading her team, and still trying to show up a little braver than she
feels most days.
Raised Right is her first book. She hopes it's not her last.

Raised Right was such a refreshing read! What I appreciated most was how the book made me pause and think about the way we show up, the lessons we pass down, and the impact those lessons can have beyond childhood. There were several moments where I found myself highlighting something, thinking, “Okay, I needed to hear that!” I love books that don’t just give you information but actually make you reflect on yourself and consider what you can do differently. Kianna, congratulations on bringing your vision to life! 📚🎉 Writing and publishing a book is no small accomplishment, and I’m so proud of you for taking this step. I’m excited to see where this journey takes you next. Keep going and keep letting God order your steps! 💛🙏🏾
