June 10, 2026Ok to be honest I’m reading it again and wish it was a movie. The movie housemaid can’t hold a candle to this book . A must read and you must not skip pages because every part is impressive important. As the characters are introduced you get a sense of excitement and will find it difficult to put the book down

Writer’s Block by Cat Crenshaw is an absolute gem of a novel. I’ve mentioned before how much I love unhinged women in fiction, and this book delivered exactly that for me.
Alexandra Sharpe is a Puerto Rican writer who has worked her butt off to write and sell her debut novel. When an agent finally lands her a deal, her book becomes an instant bestseller. Success comes with its own set of pressures. Everyone wants more from her, and she’s expected to keep writing gems while navigating the demands of fame, the weight of representing minority women in writing and publishing, and the responsibilities of being a good wife and person. So what happens when she’s hit with a serious case of writer’s block and everything she’s built is suddenly at risk?
I could not put this novel down. It was exciting and intense. The writing is beautiful, filled with passages that make me stop and think. The twists and turns kept me hooked, and the creeping sense of paranoia was so well done that I felt like I was right there in Alexandra’s head.
This is one of those books that begs to be adapted. Someone needs to option this for a movie ASAP.

A physiological thriller written by a Latina author is exactly what we need more of, because this one right here hooked me in from the beginning, like I need to know what made this happen?! I couldn’t put it down!

What happens when the success just isn’t enough? What happens when you keep wanting more?
Alexandra is more than hungry; she’s dominant in her stance on becoming more. This psychological thriller takes twists and turns, makes you think you might know what’s about to happen, and then you’re wrong!
Highly recommend if you’re a fan of thrillers, especially if you like them a little unhinged!

Cat Crenshaw really said “let’s make success feel like a psychological trap” and I ate it up. This thriller pulls you straight into the chaos of the publishing world where ambition, fame, and pressure start to blur everything around Alexandra Sharpe.
Alexandra isn’t always easy to root for, but she feels real. Messy, overwhelmed, and constantly carrying the weight of success that starts to feel more like a cage than a win. I loved how tense and unsettling it all felt, like something was always just slightly off.
And the paranoia? Immaculate. I kept side-eyeing everyone and still ended up wrong.
The ending had me looking around my room like I was in the book. No notes.
If you like twisty psychological thrillers with messy ambition, publishing drama, and characters you’re never fully sure about, this is it.

I’ve been looking for a thriller by a Latina author, for the LONGEST !!! and I’m happy to say this one did not disappoint. I devoured it in two days. Once I was hooked, I couldn’t put it down.

Twisty, addictive, emotional, and completely unpredictable. If you’re looking for a thriller that will keep you guessing, shock you, and leave you thinking about it long after you’ve finished, this one is definitely worth the read.

I really liked how this leaned into the darker side of ambition and fame, especially in an industry that can feel so image driven and cutthroat.
Alexandra isn’t always easy to root for, but she feels real. The pressure she is under, the way success starts to morph into something heavier, and the constant feeling of being watched all made this super tense and addictive to read.

If you’re looking for something that leaves you with zero regrets of how you spent the weekend, this is it! I did no laundry, no dishes, just fully immersed myself in Crenshaw’s world of imagery that I couldn’t just see, but also hear, taste, and smell and real dialogue that felt like the conversations came from own living room. As someone who takes great pride in my ability to figure out even the best endings, my favorite part was that every time I thought I knew what was happening I was wrong and it sucked me right back into the plot. Brava…or, rather, WEPA!

I absolutely loved this book! From the very first chapter, it had me hooked and constantly wondering what was going to happen next. The suspense kept building, and every time I thought I had it figured out, the story took another unexpected turn.
The ending completely caught me off guard in the best way. It was clever, unique, and made me think about the entire story from a different perspective. If you enjoy psychological suspense with plenty of twists that keep you guessing until the very end, I highly recommend Writer’s Block. I couldn’t put it down!

An absolute must read! This book is everything and more! Once you start reading it’s hard to put it down. The imagery is chefs kiss! We need this on our big screens I need it on film asap!

Because I had read Cat Crenshaw's first novella, "BIRDSNEST", I was happy to review this book. Get ready for the ride. The characters are clearly described, events are actively visual, such that I feel I'm watching the action from a hidden corner, you know? Like a fly on the wall waiting to buzz in at any moment. Alexander, Gavin, Chase are captivating. Abby, a strong character on her own, stepped up to keep Alexandra together. The glitz the glamour the pain and uncertainty, what an emotional struggle. They had me all the way. Will read again! Oh, and would love a part two of BIRDNEST.
