Pax Reed figures navigating the bloody civil war in Little Memphis is tricky enough. Life gets even more complicated when he meets Bebe.
Bebe Green craves a danger-free life, yet club enforcer Pax proves to be too damn tempting. The seductive stud makes her laugh while his touch creates a glorious hunger in her.
Broken Memphis is the second and final book in the Little Memphis MC series.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book but somehow it didn't rise to the level of book 1 in the series. I loved Pax's character in Little Memphis but he seemed a little immature and dependent on big brother Ford. I also felt sorry for him when Ford finds Shay in book 1 and Pax realizes he's no longer the most important person in his bis brother's life. I have to give kudos to this author for the way she wrote about the relationship with these two brothers. Anytime an author makes me really feel the love between family members (not just the romantic relationships) it makes me happy. In this book Pax, as a character, grows and matures immensely. It was endearing to watch him fall in love not only with Bebe, but Bebe's young daughter Lula. In both of these books the author succeeded in giving me a romance I could feel, love between family members and again so many LOL moments with the funny quips between these two brothers. Both of the books in this series will be ones that I put on my re-read shelf to go to when I want a feel good book to lift me out of those dreaded book slumps.
This book was so funny. I love the way Bijou writes. Her characters say the most outlandish things, and it works! Another fantastic read with some wild characters!
I enjoyed it but unfortunately not as much as the first book. I can't really explain why other than this one did not capture and hold my attention as much. Pax was an ass a lot in this book. I know he has a lot of issues from his childhood and he's also suffering from separation anxiety from Ford but it doesn't give him carte blanche to be an asshole! I had a strange hope that Ginger Snaps would be Sabine but that didn't happen. There was a lot more violence and discord within the MC but it still wasn't your typical MC that's for sure.
Ok at some points while reading this I was either thinking that I hate this or I love this. It was definitely not as good as the first. The feeling of " I love him" I felt came super quick. This book was also super brutal. I can't remember if the first one was. At one point in the book they are kicking around Anyway this was just ok for me. I do feel something going on with certain characters so I think there will be more books. I'll probably read them. We'll see.
I could not put this book down, had real life not interrupted I would have read this book in one sitting (I had to stop with the last few chapters). If you loved book one book two will blow you away. If you thought Bijou Hunter could write before you will think she is a genius now. I can’t recommend this book enough.
When Pax and Bebe met Pax was a jerk but Bebe couldn’t deny the attraction, and Pax who only had to smile found himself at a loss for what to do when he saw Bebe. With Pax’s brother married to Bebe’s best friend and them living in Little Memphis their paths cross often. When Pax gets a call that Bebe and her daughter have been taken he sets out to get them back, and when he does he knows this is the perfect way to get closer to Bebe. After Pax saves Bebe and her daughter Lula Pax shocks Bebe by telling her she is moving in with him.
What starts out as a crazy suggestion soon makes sense and Bebe and her daughter move in with Pax. But the more time they spend together the harder it is to deny their feelings. Bebe’s number one priority is Lula so having what she knows will be a great night with Pax just isn’t worth the risk of what will happen when Pax gets bored and Bebe and Lula are left moving yet again. Wanting to give better to her daughter Bebe knows part of that is living with Pax. But Pax isn’t a man to accept no so he does all he can to convince Bebe to give him a shot. As the three of them get to know each other better Pax wants Bebe more and more and Lula soon becomes just as important in his life.
When Bebe convinces herself that she can sleep with Pax and be ok when he moves on they get together. But one night isn’t enough for either and they very quickly find themselves falling in love. But with all that is brewing in Little Memphis Pax feels the pressure and wonders if he can be what Bebe and Lula need, or if it all was a big mistake. As they begin to build a family everything is coming to a head and the show down is imminent with the MC’s president and his followers and everyone else who want him out. With a happy ending just with in their reach it will all boil down to who is left standing, and Pax is willing to do everything and anything to keep his family safe.
I loved this book I was blown away by the story in this book. I love all of Ms. Hunter’s books but this one was amazing. I was sure I knew who was who and what was what and I knew the twist but I was so wrong, and to surprise me is impressive. How everything comes to a head and ends was fantastic and such an amazing end to this series. As with all of Bijou Hunter’s books we get a phenomenal epilogue that couldn’t have been any better. I loved Pax, in book one but in this book there are no words. Pax was a great hero Bebe was it and he was willing to do what he had to to get and keep her. He was jealous and possessive and demanding and so, so, so funny. I was laughing out loud throughout this book. I also loved how Pax falls in love with Bebe’s daughter he was so sweet to her and he treated her like his own. Bebe was a great heroine she was funny and strong and wasn’t a push over. When Pax did something he had to make up for she didn’t melt just because he kissed her (thank you Bijou Hunter). Bebe was kind and loving and wanted to make a life for her daughter that was safe and happy.
We again get to see everyone from book one and get to know about everyone who lives in Little Memphis. I read romance because I love romance but even if this book wasn’t romance this book still would have been amazing. I can’t recommend this book enough. If you liked book one you will love book two. If you loved book one then be prepared to be knocked off your seat with this one.
This book shouldn’t be read as a stand alone because book one sets up the story of Little Memphis and the brothers and book two is the perfect conclusion, but really why would you want to, these books have it all; possessive hero’s, great heroines, and amazing story, suspense, hot bikers, grab a tissue funny, and hea’s that will make you want to read this series all over again. This is a must read.
I just want to start this review by saying I read a lot. That being said I love this book, and I love this author. I don't know how she does it but the author is able to reach out and grab me and never lets me go. I absolutely love the way the author has such a wonderful ability to write great dialogue and banter. That is really not easy to achieve, yet she is always spot on. This book made me smile and laugh out loud at times while still touching my heart. I loved this novel and I will continue to look and read future releases, because Bijou Hunter does not disappoint. I have read all of her books numerous times and each time I reread them I enjoy them just as much as I did the first time.
2* bout rounded up because there's no cheating 😂.......spoilers ahead
The writing style in this one was tougher than book 1, I think it's more a case of me and not really the book.
Pax is the not so smart younger brother of Ford, from the beginning we're told he liked Bebe but it's only as she's kidnapped he makes his move.
........???I'm grumpy after they go to bed because I'm horny and can't get laid. Normally, I'd call up some babe or head to the Suede. Maggie is always easy to talk into spreading. She likes me more than the other club guys, but that ain't saying much. None of those women will do. The moment I walked into the house to retrieve Bebe from Taz, I've had it in my head that she's my next lay. My brain hasn't worked out how I'll manage to fuck her yet live in the same house as friends. I figure buying her kid's love will do it. If I win over Lula, Bebe won't have the heart to bail on me even after I bail on her.........
He insists that she move herself and Lula into his home and make themselves at home. With tensions rising in the club Little Memphis becomes a little less safe place to be. Pax is not accustomed to relationships and after a while the living situation makes him feel suffocated and he lashes out. ............When I think of never being with anyone else though, my gut tenses. No blondes or redheads. No skinny chicks with small boobs. No loud girls with drinking problems. No psychos who bite my dick. Am I really ready to follow Ford's lead and give up all other pussy? Even with no pressure from Bebe, I feel suffocated. She wants too much. She comes with too much baggage. I have my baggage too. How the hell am I supposed to handle more? Fuck if I'm ready to juggle a bigger family. I can barely see Shay every day without wanting to be an asshole.,............
He says some very hurtful things to Bebe in from of Lula and tells her to leave then he goes to the club intending to hook up with a girl
,...........I run my hands through my hair then tug at it in frustration. My body has no interest in fucking Maggie. If I do it though, I can accept Bebe and I are over. Maggie offers me an exit from the delusion I've created about playing the family man. All I need to do is touch her. Except she smells weird. She looks weird too. Grossed out, I really don't want to touch her. "Were your eyes always so close together?" I ask, squinting at...............
He actually doesn't go through with the hook up and goes home to make up with Bebe.
Bebe fell pretty quickly for Pax but she wasn't a pushover, after the argument she makes him work for forgiveness. She's had a hard life and wants better for her daughter. Her spelling out the curse words instead of saying them I loved! At the end of it I liked her ok enough mainly because I admire an H who'd do her best by her child.
The club drama blows up,Pax kills a few guys, the old leadership gets dead along with some Innocents and Joker and his guys now run the club. Things settle in Little Memphis including Bebe's crazy child father who's killed as he gets out of jail to keep her and her daughter safe.
There were times I liked Pax but not only did he hurt Bebe with his actions but he hurt Lula who I really felt needed stability and happiness. She went through too much in this book so my forgiveness of Pax just never materialized. I think he needed to mature a bit before I could like him as much as I did Ford. Bebe was ok but she seemed as scattered as Pax.
In the end they were ok,the storyline was ok,the club drama was ok......making this an ok book.
We get another epilogue that basically wraps up all loose ends and is set quite a bit in the future so we get to see lots of babies which is my favorite ending. I had hoped to read more from this author but aside from the weird (to me) writing style ,some of her books contain matter that I'm definitely not touching but should she put out another safe mc series I'd probably give it a try.
Damn sure would like to know what happened from the first book. Sorry to say I didn't like the story at all. Yes it had amazing plot.....but lacked maturity. I mean this felt like something a kid would write instead of a talented author. Minus the steamy sex scenes, which were awesome by the way! But the content, spelling of the cuss words and little girl drama was annoying. So yes as a fan from the first novel, I was more than a little disappointed. So knowing what you do, read at your own risk!
ah I loved this book. I really loved pax, how dumb and funny he is how he seems a kid but can change to adult in the situations. Really did enjoy this book a lot
**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review**
**3.5 Stars**
I am a huge fan of Bijou Hunter and have enjoyed all of her stories. Broken Memphis, the 2nd and final installment of the Little Memphis MC series is no exception. I absolutely adored Pax, the bada** enforcer for the MC. Mean, cruel and hard when he needed to be...soft, sweet and funny for the woman he fell for and her cuter than cute daughter. I loved the relationship that developed between Pax and Bebe. Both of them had come from broken homes and experienced difficult childhoods. As a result, Pax refused to get close to or trust anyone besides his brother while Bebe was struggling to make sure her daughter didn't end up with the same fate as the other women in her family. What started out as a sexual relationship turned into so much more when feelings couldn't be ignored anymore. While I enjoyed watching this tough as nails, hardcore killer fall in love with Bebe, I found the bond he formed with her daughter Lula, heartwarming. Stepping in, taking care of her, gaining her trust and becoming her new dad was beautiful and sweet to watch. The humor that Bijou added to the story was hilarious. One of the main reasons I like her books so much is that she keeps the violent and dark situations from getting too depressing by adding sarcasm and funny banter between her characters.
Unfortunately, while I liked the story, I didn't love it. It dragged at times causing me to lose interest a lot. There was plenty of drama, twists and turns and great secondary characters but it was just an okay read for me. Loved the HEA ending and the dual epilogues!
I enjoy a Bijou Hunter novel. The characters are engaging, the story draws you in and the dialogue is snappy and at times, very funny. This series was especially dark and gritty, following the lives of two brothers, who are MC enforcers. Their weapon of choice . . baseball bats which makes for a very violent storyline. Their relationship with each other was almost more interesting than the HEAs they were pursuing. Two tiny complaints: I thought the ending was a bit rushed and sometimes the characters came off as really immature... not an uncommon observation when reading a NA book.
Synopsis from cover:
Pax Reed figures navigating the bloody civil war in Little Memphis is tricky enough. Life gets even more complicated when he meets Bebe.
Bebe Green craves a danger-free life, yet club enforcer Pax proves to be too damn tempting. The seductive stud makes her laugh while his touch creates a glorious hunger in her.
This was just okay for me. I really enjoyed the whole story. I loved the big, bad...not always the sharpest tool in the shed, Hero that really took to our h and her daughter. With meeting and watching Pax and his brother in action in book one, I did feel a bit bored with the two together and their story. I felt like the story did drag out a bit - even though there was lots going on. I liked that the h knew how to put her foot down when the time finally came to "check" our H when he started retreating back in his head out of fear of what the heck was going on in this new situation he was in. The sex scenes were fun to read and the development of the relationship was entertaining. Definitely read book 1 first.
*A complimentary eBook was given to me by the author in exchange for my honest review.*
This is the story of Pax & Bebe. Bebe has trust issues & Pax has issues. Period. However, they both care for one another and we get through all the angst and threats against these two from the club life to just life. I'm glad that the Reed brothers are happy. I love this author because of the emotions she made me feel through reading this story. No, it's nothing spectacular or mind blowing but I felt feelings I feel in my real life!! Now imagine that. Lol This was a great, sweet, & sexy read. I hope the author continues her stories in the city of Little Memphis.
Reread: April 2, 2016. I loved Little Memphis (book 1), but I loved Pax and Bebe's story even more. I just love the character Pax. He's an insecure little boy and a laugh riot. Bebe is a great heroine too.
I read the 1st book and really didn't care for it but thought I would try this one just in case it was a fluke but it wasn't. I couldn't finish it even though I tried. It just gets bogged down in redundancy to a weak story. The dialogue is ridiculous as are the shallow characters. I hope there's not any more after this. I'm not going to finish a bad book just so the author can get paid for a weak attempt of storytelling. Don't waste your time with this.
This book is hilarious. Absolutely love Pax and Bebe book. Love the back and forth banter. Enjoy the development of the characters. Each is special in their own way. The epilogue is so funny. Excellent book two in this series. Hopefully this won't be the end to the series and I can read about Vanessa.
These books are really fun to read. They have so much humor and excitement in them, you will find yourself laughing unexpectedly. The characters are so original and, even though they are tough, they also are amazing to read about. I can't wait to see how Osiris and Ginger get along.
I liked it. The H did a totally boneheaded thing, he did have to grovel so that was good. The h was a bit of a tease and a little scattered but they pulled it together. Then they had sweet and tender. There is extreme violence be warned.
Seriously, I've had the privilege to know a few Pax and Ford brothers. Times up, life's 🏃 running gotta screw as many as my old pecker can. Some of the many things my old friends excuses for being manhored. Great read, I laughed alot
I love a good anti-hero and this book delivered. Set in my neck of the woods, this was dark, gritty, and hard to read at times but so very down to earth. It won't be for everyone, but I really liked it.
Bijou Hunter has me in a chokehold over these characters. Swear am addicted to these rough around the edges characters. Love all of Hunters biker hotties!
This is a little different read than I thought it would be I do have to admit it was really funny in places. When she was spelling I was like Pax to dump to know what she just spelled. Well maybe not that bad but some I really had to think about a few before I know what she was saying. One word at a time isn’t bad but damn that lady can spell a whole sentence which makes you really have to work on it. lol. What I really loved was Pax and his humor along with his nasty mouth that really needs washed out with soap. I have to admit he made the story leaving the listener wondering what new things he would come up with. Bebe also added a lot to this story even with her drama she kept you smiling.
Meghan Kelly I thought did a great job the only trouble I had is when she would get louder and softer as she was narrating. At first I thought the high low was when she took a break but after I listened for a while I feel she did this when the person was in thought to show the difference which was not needed. For me it sounded like she was talking with her hand in a circle over her mouth or almost in a barrel. For me this took away from the audio. I did love her character voices, their tones, emotions along with how they expressed their selves. I had no other issues but the talking in the barrel sound the rest was done with the utmost professional voice you come to love from the best narrators. There was not any background noise, her voice is very clear, you have no trouble knowing who is talking or what their emotions are. Her female voices are a nice as her male voices giving you pretty much a clear clean listen. I have listened to one other audio of this narrator she has come far and does not sound robotic anymore. I thought it was a great narration I love her little girl voices they really draw you in. It was really a good audio with a few bumps that I feel sure will get better as the narrator takes on more audios. She has come so far from the last one I listened to, I feel sure she will go far giving us many hours of pleasure listening to her lovely voice.
I really cannot get over the spelling and still am laughing. I found this book to be serious with serious issues. I cannot say this is your normal family at least I hope this is not the norm for most of us. I do feel sure there are some out there that can really relate more so than I and live something very close to what this author has written. The author shows the true meaning of love and what it truly means along with the jealously of one brother who does not understand what the other one is doing. It doesn’t take Pax long to come to understand all that he has missed. Pax was very entertaining giving this story life, excitement, thrills and even a few chills. As the book takes off you get to know Pax more deeper and find he has fears, lost, sorrow and pain just like everyone else. He might be a big strong man that can scare anyone with a look but it was nice to see he had the same fears. This made him more down to earth and likeable. Once you get over the roughness of this character you really just fall head over heels for him.
Bebe it took me a little while before I really liked her she was so childlike complaining and too much drama. I have to admit she grows on your along with all the characters. She might have gotten off to a bad start with her childhood but she sure makes an outstanding mother. She took life as it cane wasn’t demanding, putting her child first giving her the best life she could.
I love the ending how the author goes through the kids making them all important no matter what they were like or just how smart we thought they might be. Each person has something wonderful, great and outstanding about them. The author showed this making the read understand why making us laugh with the humor. This was a very entertaining listen that I didn’t want to put down in fact I didn’t always put it down as I should have. I decided to bake so I could listen a little longer. The author put a lot of thought into this story giving it just the correct amount of pull and tug to keep the reader hooked. There are some wonderful heated scenes full of passion but never forgetting there is a child they must look after and listen out for. Pax really needs to get his S H I T together or he is going to lose the best thing he has ever had. Whether you read or listen this is a book that will grab you, hold your attention, make your heart race why keeping you smiling. There are a lot of curse words said and spelled out lol that really adds to the story. Even if you do not like this kind or wording I do feel you will enjoy the read.
Having loved the first book in this series, I had high expectations of this one which with my track record lately made me nervous. I read it in one sitting. I did not love it quite as much as Little Memphis, but love it I did. I do need to warn you though, this book is bloody and nothing is sugar-coated. Broken Memphis takes place in a town based on an area of Arkansas I am quite familiar with. Bijou Hunter has definitely captured the feel of what a poor area of Arkansas is like, but she has also captured the strength and determination of people who don’t have much in life, but still fight for every scrap of happiness they can get. People who fight to not live down to the expectations of others, but to overcome their beginnings. In a lot of ways its not a pretty story, but there is definitely beauty to be found.
Pax is a member of the Little Memphis MC. He’s a bad guy who does bad things and he does not apologize for it. The best we can say for him is he’s usually doing his dirty work to people who are just as bad as he is. All that being said, I really like Pax. He’s not my usual choice in a H since he’s not a leader and he’s also not the sharpest tool in the shed. He’s had a rough life but he’s doing the best he knows how to do. My favorite great Aunt would have called him “the salt of the earth” but then she’d have also called him a thug. Both fit equally well. There was a lot to love about Pax. I loved the loyalty he showed to his brother, the matter of fact outlook he had about his lot in life. I also loved watching him fall in love with little Tallulah. He did have one massive asshole moment that I barely forgave him for…and I mean barely.
Bebe was my favorite. A single mother, her Mom was a whore, as was her Grandmother, Aunt’s and even her missing sister, but she was determined not to go into the family business. She made the wrong choice in her man with Tallulah’s father, but no matter how hard the going got, she was determined to do better for her daughter. First, she had a lucky break by meeting Shay and Darby from book One. Darby provided her a safe home and reliable care for Tallulah while she worked, but things got crowded when more people moved into the house. She ended up with Pax, not as a romantic relationship at first but just as a safe place to stay, especially with the impending release of her ex from jail. I loved how Bebe held her own with Pax, not letting him mow her over and standing firm. I loved how no matter what, she was determined to give her daughter a life she could be proud of.
At times this book was hard to read, but I still read it in one sitting. If violence and torture isn’t your thing, or if you need a white knight upon a fiery steed this is not the book for you. If you love a gritty romance with an anti-hero, this book may just be up your alley.
Broken Memphis by Bijou Hunter is the 2nd and final installment in this series and she managed to take us out with a finalization to this series as satisfied readers. This is Pax's story.
Pax had a hard childhood that was unforgiving. Not knowing anyting of love other than his older brother, all he knew about was loyalty to his club and brothers. He didn't even trust all of them but those he did trust he was loyal to a fault. Being one of the Enforcers of the club meant he asked no questions and did as he was told. He had learned long ago to leave any feelings and emotions out of his life unless it pertained to his brother. Then Shay came around and he felt slightly abandoned by Ford and the two brothers were highly competitive. He had always had some type of feelings for Bebe. So since he was living all alone now and she was stuffed in a house with 4 women and 4 children he had the perfect solution they could move in together. He had always had an infatuation with her and her kid was tolerable and kinda sweet and cool so why not.
Bebe didn't have a wonderful upbringing a mother who was a hooker by trade and an older sister whom followed her mothers footsteps. Her mother was loving though and loved her and her sister Sabine deeply, so when Bebe lost them both and was left with only Wolfman she knew she was stuck at the moment but was always on the lookout for her escape for her and her baby girl. Meeting Shay and the Club and becoming friends with everyone was a turning point in her life. She wasn't alone anymore and was learning to enjoy her life again. She had always had a crush on Pax but he made her uncomfortable and a little scared at times. When he came up with the proposal, she knew it was because he wanted in her pants. The thing was she knew eventually she would give in. She only had one rule and that was that Pax would not give her baby her dream home and stability and rip it away from her if he felt it wasn't working out for him anymore. He promised no matter what that would never happen.
Would have, Should have, Shouldn't have.....
Their story is full of relationship twist and turns, the club is in turmoil as they are turning on each other.
The dead come back to life! I don't want to give this book away anymore than what I have other than to say Bijou Hunter once again keeps you on your toes and has you entertained beyond your wildest thoughts.
What a wonderful read of entertainment and enjoyment thank you 5 stars from me I highly enjoyed this read. Don't miss this one and if you haven't read the first installment of Ford and Shay's story you need to read it before this one or you won't have your background characters, could be read and enjoyed without.
Pax Reed is a hot sexy biker and he definitely knows it. He is part of a two man enforcing team of the Little Memphis MC. The other half being his older brother Ford. They have always been a team doing everything together. They have their brotherhood with the other MC brothers but still they are stronger when they are together. They have made their way through many women, many drinks, and many killings for the club. Pax has always followed Ford. But when Ford finds his woman, Shay, things change for Pax and he doesn't like it. Then when Ford moves out of their house and in with Shay, Pax's place just seems lonely. Bebe Green has had a hard life. At age twenty-two she finds herself cleaning toilets and taking care of her three year old daughter alone. Her saving grace is her friend Shay who she met at school. Through Shay she met an angel of mercy who took her in. Now Bebe and little Lula have a safe place to live with Darby. Bebe and Pax meet at a dinner through Shay and Ford. Pax is a total jerk that night but both were still attracted to each other. He wants her for a little while, but she fights her attraction to him. No more bad decisions. Broken Memphis is the perfect conclusion for this series. It is a great read. To me this book was a great example of how two people connect but for all the wrong reasons. How they can then deny what is right in front of them and the mistakes they make for the right reasons. Great job Bijou Hunter and thank you for your hard work.
Bebe's family is one run down with prostitution, every woman, except her. She takes another avenue to persue cleaning as a job and to raise her 3 years old little girl, Lula, up. Having to look over her shoulder at every opportunity; from Lula's pimp father, Wolfman, she vows for a better life for her baby. After moving in with a girl she works with and 3 other ex working girls, she hopes she has a break soon. After a dangerous abduction from a nearby park, Pax comes to the rescue and rescues Bebe and Lula from a terrifying ordeal. He orders them to live with him where he can keep her safe. But does he have an ulterior motive? will he change is childish ways?
wow, the cover of this book deceived me BIG TIME. This is an MC book, with dark paths and terrifying situations. The cover doesn't portray what's in this superb book. The writing wash amazing and full of humour but the only thing that stopped me rating this 5 stars was that Bebe spelled everything. Even when Lula wasn't present and it slightly got on my nerves. Other than that I loved this book.
Aimed at audiences of 18+ with sexual content and graphic violence not suitable for younger readers.
