Golden Days

Rate this book
Golden Days is a spicy age-gap sports romance between a grumpy pro golfer and a determined cart girl who’s looking to hit the greens and follow her dreams.

Hazel Thomas has had nothing but a streak of bad luck. Since losing her spot on the D1 golf team, her only option to go pro is to get her LPGA certification while working as a cart girl. Easier said than done when all she has is her rusty old Camry, a hundred bucks to her name, and a set of golf clubs she got at a yard sale. She needs a major splash swing to take her out of this bunker.

Levi Carmichael may hold the number one spot in the standings, but outside the golf world, he’s seen as a recluse. To some, he might even seem like a snobby millionaire, refusing to give interviews, and keeping his private life away from prying eyes. People have said worse about him—he’s moody, unapproachable, and sometimes downright rude. But what they don’t know is just how lonely he is.

When past mistakes threaten to ruin Levi’s image, again, he makes Hazel an offer she can’t refuse. As they spend more time together—on the course, in the simulator, at practice—she begins to melt his icy cold exterior with her winning smile and tenacity. Hazel doesn’t expect the grumpy golfer to sweep her off her feet with his big heart and caring personality, especially not when she’s laser-focused on launching her career.

Will their love story be a hole-in-one kind of romance? Or will it be a total whiff?

If there's one thing that gets me every time, it's a capable woman chasing her dreams and a man who wants to help her reach them without taking over.

Hazel and Levi had me all caught up in their banter, undeniable chemistry, and attempts to keep things professional when their feelings had other plans. I know next to nothing about golf, but the sporting side was easy to follow and made this a refreshing change from my usual sports romances.

Hazel was so easy to root for, and watching her grow in confidence while chasing her dreams was such a highlight. And Levi? This man knows how to make a girl swoon! His thoughtful gestures, quiet confidence, and ability to support Hazel without taking over had me completely sold. I especially appreciated how openly they communicated and respected each other’s boundaries. Their dynamic worked so well, and the slow burn made every little moment between them count.

The yearning was SO good, and when these two finally gave in, the payoff was absolutely worth the wait! I also adored the supporting characters and the adorable cats who added even more fun to the story.

Between the chemistry, character growth, and the golf sports setting, this was such a satisfying read.

I’m officially ready for lots more golf romances!

A sincere thank you to the lovely Stef C.R. for the ARC! 🥰📚

I’m so grateful for the early read. As always, all thoughts and opinions are completely my own. ✨

I love a sports romance that isn't set across a typical sport, it creates a fun new dynamic for the reader from team/coach dynamics to new sports terminology. While I'm not a golfer, I found "Golden Days" to be a fun and spicy sports romance that took me into the pro golf world. With a nice balance between romance, sports discussion and a cast of support characters that I'm hoping leads to a second book in a series 🤗🤗🤗 I couldn't put this book down!

I really enjoyed the power imbalance between the two main characters as the pro (Levi) and aspiring pro/caddy (Hazel), which was done tastefully and realistically. I appreciated the honest conversations between the two characters about their careers, dreams and their comfortability about their relationship in the public eye. These conversations built trust between Levi & Hazel as well as building emotional connection to them for me as the reader. This novel also includes tropes such as age gap, forbidden love and grumpy/sunshine, which are some of my favorites.

This novel is a bit of a slow burn but the building tension was top tier! When the pair finally gave in the fireworks were instant and HOT! Be warned this is an open door moderately spicy novel, so proceed with caution (🔥🔥/5).

If you are looking for a unique sports romance with emotionally intelligent characters, witty banter and spicy chemistry then add "Golden Days" to your TBR asap!

This book blew any and all expectations I had out of the water. Like wow. Thank you so much to Stef for the arc. I had a fantastic time.

I told myself I wanted to try reading sports that aren't just the same three or four and here we are. God it was good. Who knew golf could be so good.

We love a man that goes to therapy! Levi is a fantastic mmc and I loved to see the softer side he had for Hazel as the story progressed. This man showed the perfect behaviour in being helpful whilst not being overbearing.

Hazel is just such a wonderful character. She is such a strong independent girly and I loved seeing her character arc as she grew into herself and also excepted help for probably one of the first times in her life.

I also I LOVED the besties. I need this story immediately.

I love an age gap romance and this was no exception. Stef's writing is so so good. It was so fast paced, I never wanted to put it down. I demolished it in two settings. It is so easy to read and it flowed super well. The slow burn was SLOW, but my golly when it did break boy ohh boy was it worth it!!

So please if you're looking for something that's not your typical sports romance, please do yourself a favour and pick this one up!!

I am so happy to be seeing more and more of the "obscure" sports featured in sport romances. I know some will always be more popular than others, but inclusion matters! Stef CR brings golf to the forefront with Golden Days and she does not disappoint. While I am not a golfer, it was easy to follow along with terms and the sport, which is noteworthy. Stef has always celebrated women in sports, featuring the drive, the hardships, and the tenacity that comes with being a female athlete. I always enjoy her writing style and the way her books make people feel seen.

Levi is a golf pro who unfortunately doesn’t have the greatest reputation among fans and the media. Only ever showing one side of him, no one knows just how lonely he is. Due to his “image” he comes across grumpy and someone you don’t want to mess with. I get this, completely. If people aren’t going to take the time to get to know the real him, why show them? As he began to let the real him show, I loved learning more about him. He has passion and drive, just forgot why he plays this game. Thankfully, a down on her luck cart girl is about to remind of a few things he’s given up on.

Hazel has dreamed of being a pro golfer for years. Life hasn’t gone as planned for her and now she is doing everything to just stay above water. When Levi approaches her with an offer she can’t refuse, she isn’t expecting to fall for the golfing pro. Hazel helps bring out a softer, more vulnerable side to Levi not seen often. She also helps him to remember why he loves this game, while he teaches her money and fame doesn’t always bring the happiness you want. Hazel’s drive is inspiring, as she never loses hope in reaching her dreams, even if the road becomes extremely bumpy at times.

I really hope to see this one book turn into a series of some sort. There are side characters that I already want more of and am keeping my fingers crossed their stories are in the works. It is just like Stef to dangle amazing characters in her reader’s faces to surprise them later on with their stories too. Not only celebrating the hard work women in sports display, but also ensuring the stories she writes are realistic, I will never tire of reading her books. She celebrates sports as a whole, but always shines a light on women who have worked so hard to get where they want to be.

As always, review any author notes before reading.

This was my first book about golf, but not my first book by Stef C.R., and well, I knew I was going to love it... and I was right!

I have fallen in love with Stef C.R.'s writing, and I might even read more golf romances. I am already down bad for sports romances; what is one more sport? But seriously, this was a great book and something I suggest you pick up. Whether it's because you love golf, golf romances, a capable and compassionate MMC, a strong and independent FMC, or this cover, I suggest you pick it up.

Hazel is a cart girl that has the dream of going pro and wants to getting into the world of golf. So far, it's just at a golf course as she works toward her dream. But when Levi (a pro golfer) is golfing at the same course where Hazel works, he has to control his feelings. He tries to stay away, but it proves to be harder than expected when she is everywhere. It gets harder when he needs to pick an amateur golfer, and only one person comes to his mind. Like she wasn't already there. But how can he help her career (and his image) and not fall for her?

Levi is seriously a book boyfriend, and there is no doubt about that. But Hazel has hang-ups about getting involved with him. Maybe I would too if I were her, or maybe I wouldn't. I mean, if a guy like Levi came in and moved me in and supported me as he did, then I would let him help me with a bit more... and let him score a hole-in-one.

Okay, okay, all in all, this was a great read, and I really enjoyed it, and I think you will too. So instead of judging me for that pun, go read this book and even add it to your TBR (the one you actually read from). He's also a cat daddy, if you need an extra nudge.

Thank you to Stef C.R. for the gifted ARC “Golden Days.” All opinions are my own and freely given!

This is a golf romance book and it is SO. SO. GOOD. I’ve read most of Stef’s backlist, and they are all amazing, but I have to say this one is my favorite.

So, sports romance, with golf at the center. Golf is a main character in this book, but you don’t have to be proficient in gf as a sport to enjoy it. While the story takes place on courses, at clubs, and in simulators, it’s all very clear for those who are new to golf.

Our main characters are lovely. Our FMC, Hazel, undergoes so much growth in this book, and I loved watching her come into her own and put in the work and build her confidence and career. Her best friend, Rosie (book 2 👀), is amazing. She’s the feisty best friend AND she’s much more. I can’t wait to find out more about her story, her connection to the Etsy witches (this made me cackle), and where she’s going.

Now, our MMC, Levi….LEVI 🤩 he is amazing, wonderful, and 🥵🌶️. He has this quiet, commanding confidence. He is kind, he is respectful, but he is also HOT. There were some lines that just had me BLUSHING. Top tier pining, yearning, and banter.

Our main characters try not to fall for each other, but it clearly doesn’t work. Everyone around them can see them falling for each other, no matter how hard they try not to, how hard they try to keep it secret.

Oh, special shoutout to Gus and Petunia. The MVPs of the kitty kingdom!

Apparently, I'm a (fictional) golf girlie now! Thank you to the author for a copy of this book, thoughts and opinions are my own.

When I saw Stef C.R. was coming out with a golf romance, I was absolutely FROTHING and I was not disappointed. While the progression of time was a little confusing for me, I loved getting Hazel and Levi's story. Can I just say that Stef is also SHOCKINGLY good at driving up secondary tension for other characters? I cannot wait for the rest of them.

Hazel is a determined and driven cart girl, ready to finish her hours and join the LGPA. Do I know what those words mean? Not really, but I don't even need to because the author does a great job of making it matter, but also not matter at the same time. Don't ask me to elaborate.

Levi "I just literally choked because of my feelings" Carmicheal definitely listened to The Great Escape a lot in high school (complimentary) and I adore him. He's the gentle giant sort of determined, knowing what he wants and then going for it in a measured, thought-out way that leaves no room for error. I love him.

What an absolutely delightful book, I had high hopes and wasn't disappointed.

Hazel has big dreams, but it feels like her golf cart is stuck spinning its wheels. Levi has become a bit of a recluse following a messy divorce. With his ex-wife in the gossip cycle again, he's in desperate need of a distraction. Will entering a pro-am tournament with Hazel as his partner be the solution to both of their problems?

Read if you like:
-Age Gap
-Dual Athletes
-Grumpy Cat Dad
-Driven FMC
-Chaotic Best Friends

The thing I liked most about Hazel was how driven she is. She was determined to make everything work: golf, her job, her dad's health, her crappy living situation. And she wanted to do it on her own terms. It was difficult for her to accept Levi's offer even though it was clearly her golden ticket. I also liked that Levi was a bit of a misunderstood golf bad boy...if golf actually has bad boys. He had one bad decision overshadowing him that didn't fit with the rest of his personality. But my absolute favorite thing about Golden Days were Ezra and Rosie. They were the perfect chaotic besties for Hazel and Levi and added so much to the story.

Thank you to the author for the gifted ebook in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Golf isn't usually my world at all, but I absolutely loved this! Stef C.R. manages to draw you into the sport without overwhelming you with technical details.

Hazel is an ambitious, determined FMC whom I admire for her perseverance and how important she finds it to be independant, even when accepting help would make her life so much easier.

Levi completely won me over! Beneath his reputation as a bad boy lies a man who is so much more than that one bad decision from his past. I found his openness regarding therapy and mental health particularly refreshing and an example for all men!

Levi is an established professional, whereas Hazel is still fighting to get a place in the golf world. That power imbalance could easily have become problematic, but I loved how openly they discussed their careers, dreams, boundaries and the potential consequences of their relationship playing out in the public eye.

I also loved how Levi encourages Hazel to stand up for herself without taking over; he wants to help her achieve her own dreams, not have her give them up for him.

The attraction between Hazel and Levi builds very gradually, filled with delicious tension, humor and growing trust. But once that slow burn ignites, it gets spicy! Not all the spice was quite my style, especially the more dominant dirty talk in one specific scene, but that didn't detract much from how much I enjoyed their relationship.

Stef has done it again! Another bingeable romance with golf, tension and characters who understand and help each other.

Hazel and Levi are so gorgeous!
Levi is the strapping pro golfer who is a little lost in his life’s direction. Hazel is the young, budding golfer in the making while trying to make ends meet at home, who begins thriving with the generous hand Levi gives her. Both characters are very easy to follow, and become very likeable as they both have their own problems, and are a perfect example of how couples should discuss problems they have, without causing any conflict. My favourite characters though, the furry friends - Petunia and Gus. The two cats are honestly part of the growing relationship between the characters.

The golf scene is such a fun change in the sport romance genre, and I loved it so much! Hopefully we’ll see more of the golf scene in the future from Stef, because in my (probably unprofessional) opinion, she rocked it.

Thank you Stef for giving me the chance to read this as an ARC, I thoroughly enjoyed this and can’t wait for the next one xx

Golden Days was such a fun golf romance! I loved both Hazel and Levi and really enjoyed watching their relationship grow. I had a smile on my face as I read this book and had a few laugh out loud moments.

Hazel is incredibly driven and determined to make it as a pro golfer, though her determination is more stubbornness at times, but this works (I was never annoyed by it). Levi genuinely wants to help her and thinks he can benefi, too; she is a talented golfer, after all.

Levi was definitely my favorite. I loved seeing the softer side beneath his "golf bad boy" reputation, and his openness about therapy and mental health was so refreshing. The slow-burn romance had great tension, the forbidden nature of their growing connection, and the fact that they are both genuinelygood people trying to catch a break. I loved how their mutually beneficial deal slowly turned into something more.

The side characters, especially Ezra and Rosie, added a lot to the story, and the cats were a bonus. Overall, this was a heartfelt romance about ambition, growth, and finding someone who supports your dreams, even when you're reluctant to let them in.

Golden days is probably my new favorite book by Steph C.R. I’ve read several of her books now, and I think she’s really done a great job on this one. I found myself reading until 3am trying to finish the book-that doesn’t happen too frequently anymore either lol. I also thoroughly enjoyed the guest appearances by some of the characters from her other books (this isn’t a “series” book though).

I first found Steph C.R.’s books by requesting an ARC copy - Golden Days was also an ARC book for me (thanks to the author). I’ve enjoyed seeing her writing style emerge and get refined with each book. What should be noted is that I am not a sports person, especially not golf (or tennis), and yet I’ve thoroughly enjoyed books she has written on those sports. So grab Golden Days and get ready for a good read!

Thank you Stef for the ARC! This is my honest review :)

It’s been such a long time since I binge read a sports romance like this. I mean reading 50% in one sitting type binge. This is my first book I have read from Stef, and what a fantastic introduction to her writing.

I can tell you, I have no idea about golf. Just that it requires clubs and balls lolol. But Stef has such an inviting way of writing and giving you information without it being overwhelming. The dynamic of Hazel and Levi relationship had me screaming and kicking my feet. Each chapter i was falling more and more in love with the characters. Even the side characters were so much fun and had so many funny moments.

The only problem i had was how fast we jumped time, but I understand why she did it.

I cannot wait for Ezra and Rosie 🥹🖤

Hello Levi Carmichael. @stefwritesstories has created a master class in yearning with Levi and Hazel. This was such a slow burn, and I loved being able to see the romance blossom between them. Hazel’s boss, Ben, is a great example of a man using his power to belittle and abuse a female coworker. This is so pertinent with everything happening at Cornell. Thank you Stef for empowering Hazel to stand up for herself and show that she is a badass in her own right. This story was amazing and I am so grateful to have given a copy in advance! I loved this so much, especially since my partner is a massive golf nerd. This releases on October 16! As someone who loves golf, I was so excited to read this book! This was a very quick read for me, but it still had plenty of slow-burn tension between Hazel and Levi. Hazel is working at a country club, doing whatever jobs she can to get her LPGA certification hours. Levi is already a pro golfer and her club is his home course. They cross paths frequently and Levi ends up being a lifeline for Hazel. The tension was written is a very real, relatable way! Both characters are coming from families with mommy/daddy issues so they were able to understand each other and work together to move forward. Even if you are not a golf fan or sports romance fan, I thought it was still a well done story for anyone who likes a quick read, spicy romance.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

✨✨ARC REVIEW✨✨

I love a sports romance! I especially love Stef C.R’s sports romances, she just has a way with writing the sport involved in a way where even people with no knowledge about it can still understand what is going on and enjoy it! Golden Days is a sport romance with golfing, I only know mini putt putt but I could piece together what I didn’t know and was never confused!
I loved the slow burn romance in this story and how the FMC slowly learn how to trust again by meeting the MMC. I’m also a sucker for an age gap romance and the age difference between these two was PERFECT! Also the MMC is a cat-dad which some how make him even more perfect!
Golden Days will be perfect for anybody looking for a book with mental health rep, an age gap, women in sports, slow burn and dual pov! Thank you Stef for having me on your ARC team and for sending me an early copy of your book!

This is a lovely slow burn between a somewhat sad boi and a driven talented woman. They bond over a shared love of golf and cats. They both have circumstances that make it hard to open up and it takes awhile for everything to fall into place (hence the slow burn). There is quite a bit of golf and I learned a ton about the behind the scenes of golf. The humor and tension was like if Tin Cup and Happy Gilmore had a baby and also the female lead played golf with the male lead ha.

I always love Stef’s style because her characters are so readable and lovable. It’s just so cozy every time.

The slow burn builds and builds as they sort of orbit each other while pining. But when it FINALLY hits it hits good and like always Stef nails the sweet sultry spice.

**ARC READ**

I love a good sports romance and this one was a very fun read.

The banter was so fun and I love how the story had situations that were not outlandish and seemed like they could really happen.

It did do some jumps in time that for me took a hot second to realize time had moved forward X amount of days later. I also wish there was a but more conflict, nothing detrimental to their relationship but I like reading the problem solving in relationships.

I love how Levi did help Hazel with family and job struggles that was very adorable and sweet how he pushed her to stand up for herself and was there to encourage her.

Levi is a pro golfer who keeps to himself. Hazel is a cart girl/bartender at his home golf course who is trying to get her certificate to become pro. She is down on her luck, and has a boss that likes to make everything harder on her.

I loved the relationship and the slow burn of this story. They start out with looks and little touches and it just blossoms. Once Levi fell, he fell so hard. I loved all the gestures that he did to show his feelings.

This book had amazing side characters. I loved them all and I can't wait for some of them to get their own books. There were also some of the best and cutest cats that were a shining star in this book.

there was so much yearning and miscommunication that really had me rooting for them. this golf romance is everything 🤩

he cares so much about her because of the connection he wants and that he finds her fascinating. the way he wants to help make things better for her makes my heart happy.

i truly loved every moment of this book and how it made me feel and captured my attention. i couldn’t put it down !

sometimes you have to stand up for yourself and be the person you strive to be because she was a great role model for that. easier said than done but she’s inspiring 🤩

Hazel dreams of being a pro golfer, but life continues to get in the way. Levi is a pro golfer at the golf course Hazel works at. When Levi sees Hazel's determination, he makes her an offer she can't pass up on. She finally has a chance at turning her life around (while maybe falling in love with a certain someone?).

Golden Days is my first Stef C.R. book, and I really enjoyed it! It's probably my third time reading a sports romance, so I was a bit hesitant but it was so worth it! This book has a great balance of romance, sport, and letting us get to know and love the characters! I read the whole book in one sitting!

Thank you so much to Stef C.R. for the eARC!

This was such a great read. Only the second I’ve read that deals with golf, but I absolutely loved it. Hazel was such a great character, I loved her determination to reach her goals. She definitely wasn’t afraid to do what she needed to do to make her dreams come true. And Levi, serious grump, but I could totally see why. Overall he was a doll. And these two together were so much fun. Seeing her bring him back to life was sweet. Seeing the two of them together and him lighting up inside was awesome. These two were sweet and spicy and such a great pair.

This was SO freaking cute! I love a good golf romance, and Hazel and Levi are phenomenal! He’s a professional golfer struggling with his own battles, and she’s ready to take her golf game to the next level. Watching them fall into a rhythm of helping and supporting each other was EVERYTHING.

Levi being so down bad for Hazel? PLEASE. 🥹 And I LOVED Hazel going after what she wanted on her own, with Levi simply being there to support her. We love a woman who knows what she wants! The chemistry, the spice, ALL OF IT. 🔥 This was phenomenal and easily one of my favorite reads of the year!

Hazel is working at a country club to get her LPGA hours while juggling her father's medical bills.

Levi is a professional golfer, who after a public divorce, has been keeping a low profile.

EEK! so im in love. Golden Days is a age gap, golf romance where we follow our FMC Hazel as she trues to make her way to be a Pro golfer and our MMC Levi as he tries to big his reputation back up after a scandal. We watch through their eyes as they are drawn closer to each other. We watch as Hazel and Levi strike up a deal that helps both of their situations but they cant help the tension that grows between them.

I loved these two! I really loved watching them come together and watching them grow! Really enjoyed Hazel's character, she is so resilient and strong. She has her goals and she works towards them full force, it is genuinely so inspiring. I also really enjoyed getting to see Levi's softer side and really be vulnerable and open. And watching them together was a real treat. I was absolutely obsessed with them and their dynamic. Also cant forget about the cuties that are Gus and Petunia. Really loved that we got to see those twos personality as well.

EEK yall I love Stef C.R. and her writing!!!! This was such a good read omg. It was such an easy read and so easy to just get lost in the story. Stef does such an amazing job at capturing your attention and keeping you hooked throughout the entire book. I was so locked in the entire time and it was so enjoyable. I am so excited to read more from this series and from Stef!

overall, I really enjoyed this book! Thank you so much Stef C.R. for the incredible ARC! I am so excited to read more in the future! 💚⛳️🐾

Bring him back to the man he was always meant to be and giving him the view the pro team needed. She is driven, and so good. There is just so much to love about this and their relationship. It’s a slow burn and fits it so amazing! I am so excited to see what is going to come next!

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I loved Hazel and Levi's story. I loved the storyline and the writing. I loved Hazel and Rosie's friendship. I did not see parts of the story coming. I loved the relationship development and the character development.

Thank you to Stef C.R. and her team for an early copy in exchange for an honest review.
