Perfect World Somewhere

Rate this book
The sleepy farming town of Plumgrove is sheltered from the War. A haven for some, as the rest of the world struggles against the Pruessian Empire. A young prodigy named Lily Fairpoole works as her father’s apprentice, building and repairing robots in their humble maintenance shop. Her technical aptitude and exceptional singing voice herald a bright future.

In the aftermath of the Kaezer’s brutal invasion, Lily begins a treacherous journey. From the oppressive ration camps of the enemy, to the glittering and powerful off-world colonies, she learns the meaning of sacrifice, and survival.

A blend of early twentieth century eras and possible futures, as well as a coming-of-age story, this is the prequel to “Ruby Descent”, a decopunk novel due in 2015.

I didn't realize how long it had been since a book had me chewing my fingernails at the edge of my seat, all the way to the end, until I read this book. I had to buy the printed version after reading the ebook, because this roller coaster ride dives into a rich cast of amazing characters, that caught me up in a very familiar...yet not my world...setting, that made my heart cry, fear, rise-up, and dream right along with them. I can't wait to get my copy back from my daughter so I can have the adventure again. I'll be following this Author and reading all of her forthcoming work!! Bravo!
