FBI Agent Landon Michaels is looking forward to a weekend of fun and ease with his witchy love, Bay Winchester. Unfortunately for him, relaxation isn’t in the cards.
When his boss hands him a cold case from Hemlock Cove before he leaves for an extended weekend, Landon is annoyed. When Thistle Winchester gets a vision from the file, bother turns to intrigue.
If Landon can solve a twenty-year-old disappearance he’ll be lauded in his office as more than the guy who is dating the woman who constantly finds trouble. Of course, it’s that woman and her feisty family who can help him.
Between ghosts, fights, deep conversations with Marcus, and constant annoyances, Landon has his hands full. And that’s on top of Aunt Tillie’s new business venture – which she’s desperately trying to keep under wraps.
Landon needs Bay to solve a mystery, and her family is along for the ride. Danger might not be prevalent this weekend, but survival is – and old ghosts need to be put to rest.

Note: This is a short novella set in the Wicked Witches of the Midwest world. It is approximately 25,000 words, and will not take the place of regular installments in the series. It’s just a short snapshot so you can get to know some of the other characters in Hemlock Cove. Thank you for reading.

When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail.
Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.

Another mystery is solved

When Landon is ready to go see Bay for the weekend his boss gives him a cold case file for him to look into. With the help of the Winchester witches he gets to the bottom of it. I wonder if Aunt Till is ever got her underwear that goes up her butt crack. Her words not mine, lol.

Love the Wicked Witches of the Midwest

Wonderfully eccentric characters; they may snark and fight, but they will always be there when you need them. The shorts take a closer look a few of the characters and let you get to know them better.

"On a Witch and a Prayer: A Wicked Witches of the Midwest short."

By: Amanda M. Lee

For anyone who love witches and snarky humor and has not read Amanda Lee's stories you are missing out on some of the best writing and snark I have ever come across. I can't read any of her books without LOL (that's laughing out loud in computer shorthand! DUH) Her fluid style makes you think she has first hand experience with these unique and sometimes crazy ladies. As a matter of fact I would love to ask her where I could adopt my own Aunt Tillie!

Bay Winchester is a newspaper journalist and part of an ever enlarging family of witches. Her boyfriend is an FBI agent who is NOT from a family of witches. Enter Bay's Aunt Tillie who is not above skirting just this side of legal shenanigans and this is where the humor and "snarkiness" begins. Add in Bay's two female cousin witches and all three of their mothers and there is not a safe place for any man around the area. There is always a mystery to solve, some heartwarming romance and a lot of hysterical family dynamics in play with Ms. Lee's "Witches of the Midwest" books.

I have read almost all of these stories and each time I leave and come back to one I am immediately addicted all over again. Calgon...take me away to Hemlock Cove! Do yourself a favor, pick one of these up. I bet you can't eat just "one"!

What can I save about this series that I - or hundreds of other readers - haven’t said before? AMANDA M. LEE IS AWESOME!!!
I love her stories and especially the Wicked Witches of the Midwest series. Ms. Lee is a master at giving each and every character their own special personality and quirk. Landon Michaels is hot, hot, hot...and Aunt Tillie is a riot! And the stories are so much fun!
In this particular book...

Such a fun read

Amanda Lee's books are so fun to read. She has such a great skill at dialogue writing. The snark and sarcasm are such fun. You really get to know each of the characters . This book is all from Landon's point of view. He's upset that his boss gives him an assignment over the weekend. But somehow, he, Bay, and her family find the time to solve the mystery. There's some magic at play, and, Landon's favorite, bacon. This is a book I didn't put down until it was done.

This was a good break from the Winchester Wackiness, told from Landon's point of view. However it felt more like an ode to Landon's love for Bay sprinkled with a background story. There wasn't the usual M.O. of the gang dealing with a problem and solving it but more of the development of Landon and Bay's love story.

It was a nice change of pace, although Landon's character seemed more told from a woman's point of view than a man's, but that's just my point of view.

This is a must read to continue with the stories because it is a segway to the next story.

Nothing is going to ruin his weekend with his "little witch", at least he hopes so.

Terrific. A long weekend with his favourite witch is all he wants. Therefore when his boss hands him an old cold case he is feeling disgruntled. This is topped off by Aunt Tillie and her new business venture. Can they solve the cold case, keep Aunt Tillie on a leash and still have time together? Brilliant as always. Love Aunt Tillie.

Landon's boss at the FBI headquarters talks to him about Bay and the family. He's asked to check out a cold case that is in Hemlock Cove, a case that goes back over 20 years.

It's not long before the ghost of the dead woman pays a visit but gunfire suddenly appears in the woods and Landon and Bay go to investigate it.

The question becomes was the woman murdered and, if she was, who did it and why did they kill her? Or, could it be something other than a murder?

Every single book by Amanda M. Lee is FanFreakingTastic!

The shorts aren’t my favorites, but saying that they are still great reads. I have yet to read one of Amanda M. Lee’s books and not have a great time! The only negative thing is that the editing is not great, and usually that would drive me crazy, but her books are so ab-fab that I just can’t work myself up about it!!!

Landon speaks!

This series is not only a wonderful series of peeks into parts of the Winchester's lives, but each one is told from a different character's point of view. While reading the Witches of Winchester series, I thought about the other characters' points of view on different adventures, and these short stories do exactly that. Well done!

Good read

This short story is told from the view point of Landon (Bay's love). He mainly wrestles with his new knowledge of how much he loves Bay.....and her family....even though he would "love" to strangle Aunt Tillie at times. Their is humor, mystery, a cold case, and lots not introspection. Highly entertaining.

Good

Very good told from Landon's perspective. Although I think Bay has a lot of work in front of her. He is bossy. But it's better than the always perfect prince charming in other people's novels. He has positives and negatives. I like humans portrayed as not perfect. It sets more realistic expectations.

Another one bites the dust

Another marvelous tale from Amanda. I cannot get enough. Doesn't matter the character(s) or the storyline, she pulls you in and grabs hold until she is ready to let you go. Off to the next Winchester adventure.

From Landon's Point of View

Interesting short story from Landon's Point of View. Enjoy seeing the Winchesters from the view of someone outside the family. This one is slightly more somber than the novels.

Short or long, I love this series

Bay, Clove, and Thistle along with their boyfriends begin a magical summoning for a women they assume is dead. What could possibly go wrong with that? Aunt Tillie starts a gun club, with teenage girls. Just a normal day for the Winchester witches.

Entertaining

This short is written from Landon's perspective. Instead of a peaceful weekend with his blonde, Landon and Bay have steadily evolving relationships, Aunt Tillie's mischief, and a cold case to navigate. This is an entertaining quick read.

A cold case for the weekend

The family (via Landon) gets a cold case to work on over the weekend - a woman who disappeared 20 years ago. This is from London's POV, which gives us some insight into his thoughts.

Landon in hemlock grove

I love these books of wicked witches of the Midwest. I haven't read one yet that didn't leave me wanting more. Great family love , loyalty. Aunt Tillie is always ornery. I think I've read the stories, the shorts, and the fantasy books need more.
