July 18, 2026Wings of a Feather is the second book in Isadora Brown’s Dominion Authority Agency Mystery series. While this installment was harder for me to get into than the first book, it still had several of the elements that made the series appealing from the beginning: mystery, suspense, engaging supernatural characters, and a painstakingly slow-burn romance.
I can see the direction the series is taking, and there is definitely potential in the larger storyline. However, this book felt as if the journey toward that bigger picture took something away from the pacing, the character development, and the overall flow of the story. At times, I found myself wanting Vale and Eren to see what felt obvious from the outside. Vale is smart, capable, and intuitive, and Eren is equally compelling, so some of the tension and uncertainty felt more frustrating than suspenseful. Perhaps I was expecting too much from supernatural characters, but there were moments when the complications felt unnecessary rather than organic.
That being said, the characters remain one of the strongest parts of the series. They are lovable, interesting, and easy to root for, even when the story itself does not move as smoothly as I hoped it would. Vale and Eren still have a connection worth following, and the world Isadora Brown has created continues to have enough intrigue to keep me curious about what comes next.
What made this book difficult for me is that I cannot point to one specific issue that kept pulling me out of the story. The mystery was there. The suspense was there. The slow-burn romance was there. The characters were engaging. Yet something about the pacing or execution had me skimming pages, and I always hate when that happens, especially with a book I expected to enjoy much more than I did.
I wanted to absolutely love Wings of a Feather. Instead, it ended up being just alright for me. It is not a bad book by any means, and readers who enjoy slow-moving supernatural mysteries with layered character dynamics may still find plenty to appreciate. For me, though, this installment did not fully deliver on its promise. I am still interested in the series and hopeful that the next book will pull in.

Revealing a Killer . . .
Cadet Aurora Vale ("Auri") is going through difficult field training with her mentor Agent Eren Thorne. Although he seems unimpressed with her and pushes her to do better, she defends him to her friends Briar, Lyra, and Zadie. She might eventually realize that he sees something in her worth the effort. This evening will be rather shocking when the dead body of a winged student is discovered at the Fall Equinox Bonfire, and both Auri and Eren are brought into the investigation as someone was covering up a secret. With Eren protecting her, Auri searches for the answers. As the two of them work together, will they acknowledge the feelings that seem to be developing between them? And will Auri becoming a potential target have Eren finally letting her know how he has always felt about her... because when Auri flies over and sees someone staring up at her in the garden below, she feels the same chill she recognized when Jessa died! Her wings failing, will she survive the fall to the ground below as she screams? Now she knows who was trying to kill her!

In between ignoring growing affection, and unwitting smirks and smiles, Aurora and Eren are tasked with solving the unexpected murder of a fellow student, whilst weeding through experimentations on other fellow angel-dominion students and past tragedies showing the same signs.
I feel like I need to cheer for the amount of times Aurora was able to make Eren smile during this book! But lets not forget to mention the numerous amount of times that Aurora blushed during her training sessions with Eren. The interactions between them was the complete highlight of this read for me. I absolutely loved it. This book threw up so many suspects in the murder, and whilst I was thinking the culprit was someone else entirely, I wasn't all that surprised when the real culprit was revealed.

It’s like a horror movie when that one person does the most inane thing that is 100% guaranteed to get them picked off by the serial killer, well we have that kinda scenario here. Three words creepy doctor guy. First time he stepped I knew he was involved. Also he’s got major ick factor going on. There more but you’ll have to read to find out exactly what. Takes a bit to get going but definitely worth the wait.

Auri and her mentor Eren take on a new case as they work through their feelings for each other at the same time. The slow burn romance has unexpected twists, great world building, strong and well developed characters, mystery, fun banter, and a great ending. Wings of a Feather is book two and a wonderful addition to The Dominion Authority Agency Mystery series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Book 2 of The Dominion Authority Agency Mystery Series. I like that Aurora finds bright spots in dire situations, that she shows vulnerability and strength throughout the book, and I adored the moments between Aurora and Eren, especially when he ends up giving more to her than he meant to.

Wings of a Feather book 2 in The Dominion Authority Agency Mystery Series by Isadora Brown and HC Cardona is a good story with creative worldbuilding, good characters, good storyline full of mystery and unexpected twists and turns that keep you glued until the end.

Eren and Aurora are back to solve another mystery and I enjoyed watching it all play out. These two are a hoot together. Entertaining, lots of brooding and fun scenes to enjoy.
