While working on a corruption expose, Julie is sent to a space station with a small group which includes the very hot and exceedingly overbearing medic Grtirr, who is so openly hostile to her each time they meet. When the ops goes awry, she uncovers the truth not just about the dangerous group they’re trying to uncover, but a stunning truth about Grtirr himself, and she sees him in a very different light. Have they left it too late for them to explore what might have been when the bad guys arrive to silence them?
This was another steamy, action-packed installment in the Kadrixan Mates series by Lynnea Lee. Familiarity with the series is helpful, as there’s an overarching plot, but it’s not strictly necessary to enjoy this novella. I was fortunate to have received an advance reader copy from the author, and I’m sharing my honest review.

I really enjoyed the read, nice to see this universe again. I think that it could have been resolved with a good discussion instead of silence and misunderstandings, but nice to see them getting to know each other more before becoming mates, cute impromptu dates during a dangerous mission lol.

A Monster's Future is another exciting addition to the Kadrixan Mates series, delivering the perfect blend of action, humor, sizzling chemistry, and an unforgettable enemies-to-lovers romance. From the very first page, Julie and Grtirr's constant sparring had me smiling, and watching those arguments transform into unwavering devotion made this one incredibly satisfying.
Julie is exactly the kind of lead I enjoy reading. As a determined reporter chasing the biggest story of her career, she refuses to let anyone stand in her way—not even an overprotective alien medic who seems to make it his personal mission to frustrate her. She's witty, fearless, and never afraid to challenge Grtirr, which makes every interaction between them entertaining.
Grtirr is impossible not to love, even when he's making questionable decisions. His gruff personality, protective instincts, and stubborn determination to keep Julie at arm's length create plenty of tension, especially once it's revealed he's been hiding the truth about their mate bond. While I wanted to shake him a few times for waiting so long to tell her, his reasons made sense, and watching him finally stop fighting what his heart had known all along made his journey incredibly rewarding.
The chemistry between Julie and Grtirr is electric from the start. Their years of bickering create a relationship that's already layered with frustration, attraction, and unresolved feelings before the truth ever comes to light. Once they're forced to rely on one another during a dangerous mission, every sarcastic remark, heated exchange, and quiet moment together pulls them closer.
The action keeps the story moving at a brisk pace. Political negotiations, hidden corruption, unexpected attacks, and dangerous enemies raise the stakes far beyond the romance alone. The suspense blends seamlessly with the growing relationship, making it easy to become invested in both the larger storyline and Julie and Grtirr's future together.
One thing I especially appreciated was how Julie never simply accepts Grtirr's decisions without question. Even after learning about the mating bond, she insists he earn her trust instead of expecting everything to fall into place. That balance makes their relationship feel stronger as they move from constant conflict toward genuine partnership.
Fans of the series will enjoy seeing the overarching story continue, while newcomers can still appreciate this romance on its own. That said, reading the earlier books adds even more depth to the world and the characters surrounding Julie and Grtirr.

When I agreed to do an ARC review of A Monster’s Future, I had not realised it was part of a series, so I quickly scrambled to read the previous five books in order to do justice to this story, and boy am I glad I did. These devilish aliens quickly grew on me and I somehow managed to read one book each day to make it through the series.
A Monster’s Future delivered exactly the kind of chaotic romance I wanted. Julie and Grtirr had sparks flying from the very beginning and their constant bickering made this such a fun read. I loved that their history gave the relationship real weight because there was already frustration, attraction and resentment simmering under the surface long before the truth about the mate bond came out.
Our MMC, Grtirr, the Kadrixan medic, was peak possessive alien hero. While I loved him as a character, I was annoyed that he tried to block the bond he had with Julie for so long. Thankfully, our sassy FMC, Julie was more than capable of keeping him on his toes. Her sass and complete disregard for him made her an instant favourite. Even when she was affected by him and later discovered the truth about their bond, she fought the inevitable pull of those pesky pheromones and made her devilish alien work for her affection.
My View: The danger surrounding the negotiations kept the story moving and added plenty of tension outside of the romance. There was the usual action and suspense however Lynnea wove plenty of emotional moments throughout the story as Julie and Grtirr were forced to rely on each other. The chemistry was strong and the romance was incredibly satisfying.
For someone who had never read this series before receiving A Monster’s Future, I quickly became completely invested in both the world and its characters once I picked up the first book. What started as a mad scramble to catch up soon turned into a series I simply could not put down. Grtirr completely won me over in the end and I was rooting hard for him and Julie to find their happy ending.

Julie and Grtirr have been sort of butting heads since Julie arrived at the Kadrixian stronghold. Why? Because Grtirr is overbearing and is hiding the fact Julie's his mate. Sure, sure, he didn't know AT FIRST, but somewhere along the way he figured it out. The only thing keeping his mating bond in check is the medical suppressant he's been taking.
Julie doesn't know this. She thinks the big guy just doesn't like her. Which is a shame because before he got under her skin with his irritating ways, she would have gone all in with him. But Gritirr held back and went into overprotective mode which led to him coming off as a bit of a jerk. Now Julie doesn't want anything to do with him and his medical opinions or big muscles or ANYTHING.
Yeah, that doesn't really work out. A lack of his medical suppressants, a small space where they can't avoid one another, and suddenly everyone knows she's his mate. Let's just say that as much as Julie might try to fight her attraction, Grtirr is under her skin in all the best ways. Now her brain just needs to catch up and realize he's exactly what she needs.
On top of the romance, we also get a whole lot of closure on the issues that have been plaguing the humans. Namely the corrupt government of Nova Vita that's been throwing their citizens into terrible experimental programs while claiming they're creating a better world. It's good stuff all around and I've enjoyed all the mating bliss the various couples have found while fighting for a future they can hardly dare believe in.

This is book 6 in the series and it will be better if you have read the other books in the series before devouring this one. A lot of previous characters pop in on this story and there is the basics given about the characters as far as where they came from and who they are mated to. If you want more backstory, will definitely need the other stories. I had read them and it still was a little mind racking trying to remember back to the other stories and whose story was whose.
Julie's character hooked me. She is trying to do her job and get out from under the claw of an overbearing Kadrixan doctor. Yes, she was sick when she first arrived, but years later he is still reminding her to take her vitamins. Grtirr is trying to avoid one woman but still cannot help trying to make sure she takes care of herself. Both trying to avoid the other, of course, they end up on the same mission together where the truth becomes unavoidable.
I really liked the story. I was not expecting there to be so much conflict coming from so many directions in this one. The ending surprised me. With how Grtirr started his relationship, it is definitely an uphill batter to prove he is worthy. I get why he didn't want a mate, but it is definitely easier when he hadn't already found her.
I enjoyed getting to see other characters again and the epilogue jumping a few years a head provided a wonderful wrap up for the story. A pleasing tale with steam and tail.

I was excited to see another book in the Kadrixan Mates Series. It was a long wait, but worth it!!
Julie has lived in the Kadrixan stronghold for several years. She has hoped for one of the males to be her mate but it hasn’t happened. The only male that has paid her any attention is the grumpy Dr. Grtirr. For some reason he seems to hate her so she tries to avoid him as much as possible. When she is asked to go on a diplomatic mission as a reporter she is happy to get away from Grtirr for a while. But when everyone is onboard she finds out he is also going on the mission and worst of all, they have been assigned as partners, so there will be no getting away from him!
Grtirr has known Julie was his mate since he first met her. But he doesn’t think he deserves a mate so he pushes her away and keeps his distance so the bond doesn’t have a chance to form. When he is asked to go along on the mission as an additional guard at the last minute, he readily agrees so there will be no chance of running into Julie. He is in for a big surprise when he gets on board.
When Grtirr finally quits fighting the bond and decides she can be his mate, Julie isn’t going to make things easy for him. There will have to be a lot of groveling on his part. But when the diplomatic mission is attacked and they are running for their lives, they find out what is really important in life. This is a great book with lots of emotion and action and surprises! There’s even an adorable pet thrown in!

Well, it's been over a year since book 5 I had to check my database for past review of the Kadrixan Mates series. The series started in 2022 but it has been well worth the wait for each book! The books are not just TBR worthy but the entire series should be on your TBR list. Each book is a stand-alone; however, they are much better if you read the books in order.
Julie was one of the first rebel females that choose the option to participate in the Kadrixan rut rather than the so-called Utopia encampment. Gtirr was immediately overbearing of Julie due to her health issues. Unbeknownst to everyone Gtirr was taking mating suppressants so it took years for him to realize Julie is his mate.
Poor Julie has been mentally tortured by Gtirr's making her feel lacking and weak. Got to love the Cookis and once again one comes creates havoc. Gtirr plans to avoid Julie during the rut by going as the medic for the mission. If you like forced proximity love stories with HEA, this is it!
Many twist and turns in the story when least expected, especially towards the end. The Cooki steals the show in several scenarios with its own characteristics. Going to be very sad if this is the last of the Kadrixan Mates series. Unless, there is an off shoot with more Cookis,

I loved this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Julie and Grtirr and the way they butted heads, both strong-willed. Julie could definitely hold her own and think quick. But I loved how possessive Grtirr was- especially after Julie learned she was his mate. The chemistry between them was scorching fire. I laughed at the scene when Tatertot launched at Grtirr's face when he and Julie got heated (that scene was hot!). But my favorite was definitely in the market when Kat, Julie, and Annabel got to try real chocolate and the three guys were very affected by their moans.
'None of the females were aware of the torture they were putting us through, and I was grateful when they started walking down the aisle again, none the wiser that they’d threatened the very seams of three pairs of pants.'
I also liked Grtirr's thoughts on jewelry, and it made me think of all the shopping a group of girls could do with these possessive males trailing close and not understanding the appeal of pretty things that women tend to like. I would kill for a random bonus shopping day short story with this group!
This romance was such a fun adventure with action, suspense, danger, a steamy hot couple, an adorable alien pet, and loyal friends. I can't wait until I can listen in audio! 5 stars.

She wanted all the things her mated friends had: a big, strong warrior to fall to his knees for her, a mating flight, and a nest built with her on his mind. Grtirr may be a medic, but he is also a Kadrixan warrior who will fight to protect what is his. His devotion and determination to keep his mate safe is both swoonworthy and endearing.

A Monster’s Future is a rousing good Sci-Fi Romance and a Kadrixan Mates story.
FMC Julie has just agreed to travel to Halcyon Station as reporter for Ellaston Gazette while the big negotiations are going on there.
Thinking it is her chance to at least avoid grumpy medic Grtirr who drives her crazy with his over protectiveness.
If she only knew that Grtirr has been suppressing his rut with the nullvein root because he knew she was his mate, and happens to be out of it.
When an opportunity opens up where he can attend the negotiations its a perfect way for him to be away from Julie until he can grow more of the nullvein root.
Then he finds out she will be going too!
Enjoyed their story which was humorous, had danger, intrigue, enemies to lovers vibes, secrets, emotion, and a passionate mate bond.
Nice writing with well developed characters made the story an entertaining read which got evermore exciting after Grtirr’s secret is revealed, and things heat up on the station.
A perfect read all the way to the HEA.

A fun and relaxing addition to the series
This was another fun and relaxing read in the Kadrixan Mates series. It wasn’t my absolute favorite of the series, but it did exactly what I wanted it to do: it was entertaining, easy to read, and a nice mood-lightening escape.
I liked Julie. She was fun, stubborn, and enjoyable to follow, and I especially liked the bickering between her and Grtirr. Their dynamic had a nice energy, and the story had a good pace for me. Some parts moved faster, while others slowed down a little, so it didn’t feel too uniform.
Grtirr was also likable overall, although I did think he was a little too stubborn about resisting the mate bond. His reasons made sense emotionally, but not always logically, at least to me. This was another fun and relaxing read in the Kadrixan Mates series. It wasn’t my absolute favorite of the series, but it did exactly what I wanted it to do: it was entertaining, easy to read, and a nice mood-lightening escape.
I liked Julie. She was fun, stubborn, and enjoyable to follow, and I especially liked the bickering between her and Grtirr. Their dynamic had a nice energy, and the story had a good pace for me. Some parts moved faster, while others slowed down a little, so it didn’t feel too uniform.
Grtirr was also likable overall, although I did think he was a little too stubborn about resisting the mate bond. His reasons made sense emotionally, but not always logically, at least to me. A Strong Addition to the Series with a Heartfelt Romance
This alien romance is part of a larger series, but it also works well as a standalone. That said, readers who haven't read the earlier books will probably miss some of the context surrounding the overarching story arc that connects the series.
The romance itself was the highlight for me. I really enjoyed watching the main characters gradually accept and develop the mate bond that the hero had spent years trying to suppress. Their emotional journey felt genuine, and it made their relationship especially satisfying to follow.
The only aspect that didn't quite work for me was the cover. Compared to the previous books in the series, it has a noticeably different style, which made it feel a little out of place. That's purely a cosmetic issue, though, and it didn't affect my enjoyment of the story itself.

I was so excited when I discovered that Lynnea had wrote us another book from this amazing series. You can't help but fall back in love with all of these "monsters". even the ones that you enjoyed through the first round. Julie has alway wanted a mate and she was the romantic one and believed in romance. Unbeknown to her she had a mate he had only done things to stop it for his own misguided reasons. Now Grtirr has hit his knees and he has to make things right between him and Julie. The chemistry between these two is hot and unavoidable. The way Julie makes her mate grovel and fight for her affection makes for a much more fun read. Never mind the surprises this author throws at us that you never thought would come our way. I enjoyed this read a lot. All the old couples that you love from the past books in the series, the chemistry that's hot and spicy, the non-stop action and surprises that keep you on the edge of your seat. This is a definite must read!! Makes me want to start from the very beginning and read this series all over again!!!!

This story is dual POV, well written, and a fast-paced, adventurous, hidden fated mate, sci fi romance between Julie, the female human journalist lead, and Grtirr, the male alien medic lead. I enjoyed Julie’s verve and enthusiasm, especially her enjoyment of all forms of romanticism. I chuckled at Grtirr’s grumpiness that masked attraction and empathised with his rationale for avoiding a mate bond. I enjoyed his eventual acceptance of the mate bond and his active consideration of Julie’s desires. I enjoyed the building relationship and steamy intimate scenes. I enjoyed the non-romance plot. I laughed at the antics of both lead and secondary characters. I enjoyed the work towards a better situation for all. I enjoyed the supportive engagement of secondary characters and cameos from previous lead characters. It’s been more than a year since the previous story in this series and this one is a great addition!

What I liked most was the unexpected mate bond between Grtirr and Julie. Grtirr, the grumpy medic who once cared for her, always seemed determined to boss her around—or worse. Julie couldn’t make sense of his behavior, and seeing their secret bond unfold added tension, humor, heat, and heart. Both characters show new sides and growth: Grtirr as protector, mate, and mechanic, and Julie as volunteer, reporter, and even bait!
Meanwhile, Exotech and the corrupt leaders of Nova Vita finally face the consequences of their rogue experiments, lies, and attacks. The Ellaston colony is excited but cautious when Vossell Industries proposes a direct trading agreement. Just as the stakes rise, sabotage and ambushes threaten to derail everything, forcing quick actions to save the day.

Having read and loved every single previous book in this series, I can confidently say that the author has done it again! This latest installment completely swept me away, and it’s a brilliant reminder of why I fell in love with this world in the first place.
What I find most impressive as the series progresses is the incredible depth of the world-building. Instead of staying stagnant, the universe expands beautifully with each book, layering in subtle details, high stakes, and a richer lore that makes the entire reading experience feel like one massive, interconnected epic. The push-and-pull between Julie and Grtirr was fantastic, and watching a strong-willed human stand her ground against a grumpy, overprotective medic made for an unforgettable dynamic.

This is Julie and Grtirr’s story in this story in this sci-fi romance. Grtirr who is a medic has known that Julie is his mate since he first met her. In hoping that he can return to his home that he was banished from and see his sister again, he doesn’t want to follow the mate bond and takes a medicinal plant to calm the urges. Still, he remains watchful and protective of Julie. Grtirr volunteers for trade talks hoping to have some time away from Julie and till more of the plant can grow. Julie has feelings for Grtirr but sees him as overprotective. While on the mission, which adds suspense to the story, they finally admit their feelings for each other especially after Grtirr kneels in front of her showing the mating bond to everyone. As they try to stay ahead of the people wanting to stop the ore trade, Grtirr attempts to adopt human customs for a relationship for Julie which is just the sweetest. Their mating nest that Grtirr built was made specifically for the things Julie loved.

Another Lynnea Lee book I had a har time putting down. The day I started it, I was up until 3am, and made it 48% of the way through book (in about 4-6 hours). I probably could have made it further in that time, but life stuff kept interrupting me. Seriously, no respect for reading time anymore
Anyway. Once he got over his nonsense, Grtirr was adorable, and it was fun getting to see his inner neuroses going on. Similarly, Julie was such a sassy cat, and I loved it. Let's be honest though, Tatertot was the real star of the book (and saved the day several times)
The one thing about the book I'm not sure about is that the "wrap up" at the end really gives the impression it's the end of the series, and that makes me sad because I've really gotten attached to the characters. Also, there are still so many Kadrixan we need to see get their mates. It's a good stopping point for the series, and threads are tied up neatly, but I hate saying goodbye to characters I'm attached to

loved it !! love this series !! sorry, to see it go !! love Julie and Grtirr !! love Tatertot !!! this is their story... a fun fast paced action packed rom/com drama... set in Vokira.... he's a top medic and he knew when, he first scented her that she was his mate but, he didn't want a mate... he had to be able to return to their home world for his sister ... she wondered why he was so mean to her, she never did anything to make him hate her !!! she's to go to Halcyon Station for the negotiations with Vossell Industries as part of the press.. Ellaston Gazette.. he's run out of the herb he takes to block the mate bond.. he goes as a guard not knowing she's going to be there as well... surprise !!! this was a really good story... full of angst and more !! she did forgive him way to easily...

I love this series. Each is a standalone , although their is a back story . So should be read in order written.
I loved both Julie and Grtirr. And then there's Tatertot. She is so cute and mischievous.
Grtirr and his not wanting to acknowledge that Julie is his mate and her feelings towards him were fun to read. I also liked that Ashtrr is there to complicate things. Grtirr has a lot of groveling and finding out what Julie dreams are. But he has help along the way. Then of course there's the kidnapping. With help from an unexpected source.
The worldbuilding was excellent. Twists were fun, a splash of humor along the way, steam to the eventual romance, and as should be right the perfect HEA for them.

Grtirr has been successfully fighting the mate bond with Julie until a Kukee eats all the plants he needs. Agreeing to go on a mission in the hope that it will keep him away from Julie, he is not happy when he discovers that she is also going with them. When the truth can't be denied anymore and comes out, Julie is angry and determined to punish him, but the mate bond is stronger than her will. With Nova Vita trying to stop them selling their ore direct, plots, betrayal all around them and a Kukee named Tatertot, Grtirr and Julie find that the mating bond doesn't run smoothly.
Action-packed, fast-paced and steamy, I love being back with the Kadrixans and the people they surround themselves with. Great story, plot and characters.

I really enjoyed this action-packed, steamy, romantic page-turner. Grtirr is a bossy Kadrixan medic who is grumpy with Julie because he doesn't want a mate. When Grtirr finally reveals that Julie is his mate, Julie knows there is no fighting the bond, yet she admirably keeps him at arm's length to make him work for it. When they do get it together, the sparks really fly. I found these characters very likable.
I enjoyed the political intrigue, the exciting action and the found family. It helps if you've read the previous books in the series, just so you have more feeling for all the characters and their backgrounds, but not strictly necessary. This is a really addictive series!

This was another great story written by Lynnea Lee. This story begins when Julie and others along with the Kadrixan Medic Grtirr, are sent to a space station where danger and romance is her future. Grtirr is Julie’s Kadrixan Mate although their romance is a little still did it first, but once everything is settled, Julie makes him grovel a little, which is totally hilarious, it might almost be too late because of the danger before them, but eventually they sort themselves out and go onto if they happily ever after.

I thoroughly enjoyed this return to the world of the Kadrixans and their mates. It had been a minute since Ms. Lee had told a story set in this world but as soon as I started to read the book, I remembered how much I liked it. Grtirr’s struggle to escape the mating pull and his ultimate defeat at the hands of a sneaky wee rodent was epic and the way Julie stood up for herself and made him earn his “reward” was hilarious and kind of sweet. I loved the intrigue and the action and the ending was awesome (Kiwi for the win!). I am hoping that Igor gets his HEA next and I happily and voluntarily reviewed this book.
