Although the message in this book was an important one for contemporary Christians to hear, Brian Edwards' style of writing was rather tedious to get through. The writer often jumped between different ideas and illustrations without much connection. All in all though, the exposition of the Ten Commandments was inspiring and motivating.

After a number of atrocities (murders of Jamie Bulger, Philip Lawrence) an MP suggested that what we need is 'something like the Ten Commandments'. Can we actually improve on the original? Are they relevant today and if so to whom? Commandments 1 to 3 - get things right with God. Commandment 4 - get the pattern of the week right & make time for the family. Commandment 5 - get relationships right in the family. Commandments 6-10 get things right in the interpersonal side. Unfortunately most people seem to want to sort the latter first and that is where the problem is.

Good read in showing how and why we as Christians are to apply the law even though we are no longer under the law. This book provides many practical applications for each of the ten commandments. "All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness."
