Western Africa's Lobi are known for their sculpture art of ancestral cult objects as well as figures used in private practices. Featured in this book, part of the Visions of Africa series, is a selection of Lobi masterpieces from such prestigious collections as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and the British Museum of London.
Very interesting but the translation from Italian is awkward. I just completed research in Lobi country and it should be added that the Gan (a royal people, unlike all others in Lobi country) also participate in the joro ceremony. It was very interesting to see the use of shrines among the Lobi whose power was originally given by the Gan.
