When she’s not working full-time, texting with her best friend Heidi in England, chastising her son for pulling the dog’s ears, shopping with her sister Jewel or watching scary movies with her husband, she can be found writing on her laptop.
She’s addicted to shoes, chocolate, Dunkin Donuts coffee and JIMMY THOMAS covers!!!
So far I am absolutely loving this box set. I've finished 5 of the stories so far and they are definitely worth the price of the collection! Reviewing as I read them.
*Dangerous Protector by Milly Taiden 4 stars - There are so many things I loved about this story. There are intriguing well drawn characters, both the MCs and the secondary characters. There is suspense, mystery, sexual tension, twists and turns and skullduggery by shady villeins. So much fun! I occasionally wanted to smack Cyn for being stupid but as I can't even imagine dealing with what she is dealing with I can't be too frustrated with her. James on the other hand is so fabulous I totally fell in love with him. Just the right amount of over-the-top alphaness with caring and support of his woman added in. And lets not forget the sizzling hot sex shall we? No, don't want to forget that. Whew! Not quite as good as the first one but darn close! (previous purchase)
*A Prowl On The Wild Side by Erika Masten (original to the set) 4 stars - Vanessa is a fabulous heroine! Strong, snarky and dealing with a ton of craziness that would drive the average woman totally insane. Which she thinks she just may be in a "gently unhinged" sort of way. Eric is sex on a stick. He is also a bit clueless in a 'bless-your-heart' sort of way. There is excitement galore and a lot of really good world building that I'm hoping is part of a series. I'm going hunting for them soon. I do wish the secondary character Jeremy had been explored a bit more, I found that part quite frustrating.
*Bear Biker Love by Harper Ashe 3 stars - After the prologue, this story has what should be a heart wrenching beginning as the circumstances are really horrible. I just couldn't connect with it though. This seems to be the case with most of the story and characters. That being said though it is an enjoyable, lighthearted quick read that would be great while you are waiting in the DR. office or something. (previous purchase)
*Bear The Heat by Catherine Vale 3 stars - I really liked the story line in this book. I just wish more time had been spent developing the characters themselves. I don't know what it is that makes me fall into a story and really root for the characters but it wasn't in this story. However, that doesn't mean it won't be there for you.
What is in here is a really interesting story line that I have not read before. It also has some twists and turns that left me saying 'NO WAY' at my kindle. I did enjoy the book and I will definitely give this author another try.
Heartbitten by Aubrey Rose - unread (previous purchase)
Distracting the Billionaire’s Son by Jordan Bell - unread
The Billionaire’s Curvy Guide by Danielle Duncan (original to the set) - unread
*Soldier by Liliana Rhodes 5 stars (this is part of my review from Made Man and Soldier is part 1 of 3. Soldier does not end on a cliffhanger but it is obvious the story will continue) - I really enjoyed reading this story. I haven't read a mafia hero story before so I wasn't too sure what to expect but I'm happy I tried it. Dante is a tortured anti-hero to be sure. It really makes you think about what you would do if you were born into a family like that. Nature or nurture? In spite of the things he does he has his own set of standards/morals and he has his own way of remembering what he has done. He isn't amoral by any means. How realistic this is to actual mafia families I have no idea but I do know that I was pulled into this story in a way that doesn't often happen. This is the first part of a set of 3 stories and was my favorite and 5 stars. More if I could have given them and the main reason I gave the box set 5 stars before even reading most of the stories. (previous purchase)
I haven’t has the change to read the whole box set so far, but I did have a chance to read Soldier by Liliana Rhodes, and it was great. While on her way to her mother’s house to help plan for the funeral she is spotted by Dante, one of the Gambino’s men, he instantly feels an attraction to Gia, but is content to just watch her from afar because he feels someone like him is not good enough for someone like her. Dante is a soldier for the Gambino’s family. Dante has done lots of things he is not proud of for this family, including what he does best kill. This is all he sees himself as, a trained killer, but Dante goes against his mafia upbringing and disobeys his Capo’s orders and keeps an eye out for Gia. It is during this time that he stops a break-in at her mother’s house where she is staying and saves her from the intruders. He promises to always protect her, because to him, her life is more important than his own. Will Gia stand by this killer that loves her more than his next breath? Will Dante be able to protect her from the dangerous mess that her brother left her in? Will Gia still love Dante after he does? I have to say I think that this is an amazing box set and so worth the buy for what you get! I think that Soldier by Liliana Rhodes was worth it alone! I love the way Rhodes has made Dante the type of character that you just fall in love with so quickly. I was hooked within the first 30 pages and from that point on there was no putting this book down. Dante is the damaged type, but with a heart filled with love for Gia, and he just can’t see the good in himself even though there is plenty of it there. He loves Gia fiercely, and will do anything for her. The love in this story is so heartfelt you can just feel it as you read. It also keeps you guess as to what is going to happen next because of all the mafia drama that is constant happening. Love this book! What an amazing romance with a twist! I would highly recommend this book to anyone!
This is a fantastic box set at a bargain price! I bought this box set because it has stories from some of my favorite authors including Liliana Rhodes, Milly Taiden, Erika Masten, Catherine Vale, Alexx Andria, Michelle Fox, and Eliza Galye, all great authors, and I am looking forward to reading the other stories as well. I will not discuss all the stories I have read as that is too much, but I will say that Dangerous Protector by Milly Taiden is awesome. Cynthia and James were apart for 10 long years, but now she is back as his supervisor in the Federal Paranormal Unit. James is determined to find out why she left, and to get her back! He is not going to let her turn his back on him or leave him again. And his pursuit occurs while they investigate a missing teenager, her niece. This was a great story! Two people who love each other but circumstances are keeping them apart. I also loved Liliana Rhodes story, Soldier. Dante is a soldier for the Mafia. Dante has been told to kill a man who stole from a drug gang. While watching his mark Dante sees Gia, an innocent young woman who plans to become a nun. She is home for her grandmother's funeral. Gia just happens to be the sister of Dante's mark. Dante feels attraction to Gia, and as Gia innocently gets caught up in the drug and Mafia world, Dante tries to protect her, not only from the Mafia and drug lords but from her own family. Wonderful story! So many wonderful stories in this box set and for a very low price.
This is a great collection of books, each focusing on a romance with a strong male lead and a curvaceous female lead. I'm still making my way through all of the books, but the ones i've read so far are fantastic. One book in particular, Soldier by Liliana Rhodes, is undoubtedly one of the best books i've ever read. In the book, Dante is an assassin for the mob and deeply damaged by all he has had to do for them. When he meets Gia, his whole life changes. She makes him believe he could feel happiness and love again. Gia, who once wanted to be a nun, still feels unworthy of Dante for many reasons, mainly because of her naiveté about the world. This is another thing i love about the book--Gia has a willingness and ability to see Dante's soul and who he really is, not what he does. They are both damaged but find healing and happiness in each other. There is mystery in the story, too. We get to see Dante in action, protecting Gia in whatever ways necessary. There is no cliffhanger ending, but if you like the book, there are more books available about Gia and Dante (which are also amazing). In the few stories I've read so far in this collection, there have been vampires, assassins, rockers/musicians, nuns, brainiacs, actors... And I'm not finished yet! i think that's pretty amazing for the price. I highly recommend this collection. With its wide variety of topics, you are bound to find something you like.
"A collection of masterpiece's in Curvy Romance's!" These are amazing stories by some incredible writers!. It is impossible to pick one story as your favorite ! :) If you love hot Alpha Men who are attracted to spunky curvy women then you will love this Anthology!. The Alpha males will make you cream your panties and the spunky women will have you laughing your butt off lol . The stories are full of suspense, action, humor, and red hot romance! You need to get this Anthology!.
I'm reviewing as I go, so will add them on for each author.
Dangerouse Protector by Milly Taiden Fast paced, highly addictive read. Brilliantly written, wicked adorable characters, & a sizzling HOT story line. What more do you want in a book? I loved it, Milly Taidens writing just flows, it's easy to fall into her books & stay there, it's just so exciting. Can't wait for the next book.
A disappointing collection of stories. There were some good ones worth reading though. More often then not though, I found the story lacking, if not down-right bad. I loved the idea of having an anthology dedicated to the plumper heroine, but some of the stories features thin, flat-tummied woman. The anthology was advertised as featuring stand alone novels, but some of the stories were just part of a series.
Book 1: Dangerous Protector by Milly Taiden Finish Date: Jan 23rd, 2015 My Rating : 2 stars (it was ok) Review: This fantastical romance begins with a team of agents from the paranormal unit of the FBI, racing to the potential location of a kidnapped child. James Brock, for all intent and purposes, is the leader of this task force and possesses great powers, which are only mentioned at this point but are not explained in detail (and are never fully explained, with no real details in my opinion). The team arrives to a burning house surrounded by police, SWAT, FBI, EMT, you name it they're there. First impressions, you can see that the paranormal unit is not fully respected by the "non-special" members of the FBI, they are outcasts, the men and women used for the special abilities they have, but never get the credit. Shortly after arriving to the scene a voluptuous latino woman comes running out of the burning building caring a child wrapped in a wet blanket. Brock is instantly struck dumb, for the woman running from the house is Cynthia Vega, the "one that got away". Ten years ago, Cyn broke off her engagement from Brock and left town, never to be heard of from again. Now Cyn is back and has been recruited to be the leader of the Federal Paranormal Unit, Brock's unit to be exact. Cyn is some kind of psychic. Cyn is still madly in love with Brock, but still believes leaving him was for the best. She is desperate to keep her reason for braking off her engagement secret, but doesn't know how she will keep her hands of Brock now that they will be seeing each other again on a regular basis. Brock is determined to find out why Cyn left and make her his once again. When Cyn receives a frantic call from her eccentric aunt begging her to come and help find her daughter who is missing, Brock refuses to let her go alone and goes with her back to her home town to help her investigate her cousin's disappearance. The two just can't seem to keep things professional or keep their hands off each other.
Overall, I thought there wasn't enough content, no backstory, no character development, and quite frankly I found Cyn's reason for leaving the love of her life, a major let down and quite frankly, unreasonable.
Book 2: A Prowl on the Wild Side by Erika Masten Finish Date: Jan 26th, 2015 My Rating: 3 stars (I liked it) Review: Vanessa Dreyer has a little problem, she often awakes to find herself laying butt naked in her neighbors yards. In fact, it happens so often, her neighbors leave cloths for her and will bring her coffee. Besides the sleepwalking naked, she also suffers from delusions of superhuman strength, hearing, and speed that no woman with her overabundant body should posses. Even though her neighbors, her boss (a psychologist), and even her own brother believe Vanessa is certifiable, she can't shake the feeling that there has to be some truth to her vivid dreams. It takes her long time crush, Eric Salo, to show her exactly what else it out there for her to learn about her true nature.
There were a few things I wish were expanded on and a few things I wish were just taken out all together, but overall a good read with a likable heroine and sexy hero. Who doesn't like a good dog chases cat scene ;)
Book 3: Bear Biker Love by Harper Ashe Finish Date: Feb. 2nd, 2015 My Rating: 2 stars (it was ok) Review: Alex Andreas is the sole survivor of his clan, who were murdered by a group vigilantes dedicated to terminating any and all beings with the power to shift or change into animal form. In order to keep his kind from going extinct, Alex must find his mate. All Alex has to go off of is a small piece of scarf that holds the scent of his mate and that he must ride towards the city to pick up her scent. Nina has no idea she has bear blood running through her veins, and definitely doesn't know her world is about to be turned upside down by a gorgeous biker dude who knows exactly what he wants from her.
There were things I liked about this story, such as, Alex and Nina's chemistry. But I was thrown off by the whole paranormal council angle. I could have gone without the whole guardian thing, it reminded my too much of It's a Wonderful Life, but corny.
Book 4: Bear the Heat by Catherine Vale Finish Date: Feb. 10th, 2015 My Rating: 3 stars (I liked it) Review: I enjoyed this short were-bear story.
Book 5: Heartbitten by Aubrey Rose Finish Date: Feb. 16th, 2015 My Rating: 3 stars (I liked it) Review: A good Vampire romance novella. I liked the author's take on vampires, she made them more human.
Book 6:Distracting the Billionaire's Son by Jordan Bell Finish Date: Feb. 19th, 2015 My Rating: 3 stars (I liked it) Review: I have read this novella once before but I didn't like it as much the first time as I did this time. The author did some rewrites for this anthology which I thought really improved the story, I didn't find the heroine as immature as she was in the original publication.
21 year old Jess has been invited by her best friend and roommate, Shannon Silver, to come stay for two weeks at her families beach house. Shannon comes from money (and I mean a lot of money) though she never acts like the entitled rich kid you would expect. Upon arrival, Jess is introduced to Shannon's oldest brother Jonah Silver. Jonah isn't sweet and fun loving like the rest of his family, instead, he is gruff and intense. Being the oldest, Jonah carries the burden of meeting their father's expectations more than any of the other Silver siblings. Jess feels she understands Jonah on a deeper level, and is almost immediately drawn to him. Jess is very insecure about her body, she is a plus sized woman who was left terrible scared after surviving the car accident that killed her mother. She believes no man could every be attracted to someone with her issues, and therefore has always held back from sharing all of herself with men. Since her mothers death, Jess hasn't had much of a family to call her own, so being around the clearly loving Silver family is both a pleasant and painful experience.
Though I did enjoy this time around more than the first time, I still had some issues with the story. I had forgotten what a total control freak and jerk Jonah was to Jess at first. It is hard to read at times because he was just so cruel. I couldn't understand why Jess kept seeking him out. But boy-oh-boy, once Jonah turned sweet, man was he sweet.
Book 7: The Billionaire,s Curvy Guide by Danielle Duncan Finish Date: Feb. 20th,2015 My Rating: 2.5 stars (it was fine) Review: Zeo works at the prestigious Diamond Hearts Resort in Colorado as the personal assistant for the quests. Her job is to make the arrangements for her assigned guests, as well as offer tours, and perform any other task necessary to keep the resorts guest happy. Zoe's most recent guest could very well jeopardize her much needed position at the resort, for the gorgeous billionaire can't seem to keep his hands off of her, and she doesn't want him to. Zoe knows that he is only going to be here until the end of the week and doesn't want to risk her job or her heart to a man who she very well may never see again once his vacation is over. This isn't Bastian Marks' first time to the resort, but the personal assistant waiting for him at the check-in counter is. And man is she just his type. He wants her for more then her services as a tour guide but she is insisting on keeping things strictly professional. Can he wear her done before the end of the week when his vacation is up?
The answer is yes, and he does so quite quickly. I wasn't enthralled by this story but it was a quick, easy read with some steamy bits starring a plus sized heroine. It contained all the typical short romance story criteria; lust at first sight, slightly whinny, indecisive heroine, gorgeous billionaire hero who can't take no for an answer, and a short fling that leads to declarations of love in less than two weeks.
Book 8: Soldier - A Mafia Romance by Liliana Rhodes Finish Date: Feb. 24th, 2015 My Rating: 1.5 star (I didn't really like it) Review:
Book 9: Something True by Malia Mallory Finish Date: March 19th, 2015 My Rating: 2 stars (it was ok) Review:
Book 10: Heart Racer by Marian Tee Finish Date: May 25th, 2015 My Rating: 1.25 (I didn't like it) Review: Leandor Christopoulos, a Greek, billionaire heartthrob, has made a name for himself as a bad boy due to his pent ion for underground racing. Trying to change his image for his father's sake, Leandor decides to get himself a goody-twoshoes for a fake girlfriend.Roberta Granger, known as Bobby, seems to be the perfect match on paper, she is a total geek, plump, and has just been awarded the Young Philanthropist of the Year award, but her no nonsense, shrewish attitude poses a problem for the Greek playboy. Leandor figures the only way to get Bobby to play along as his girlfriend is to fool her into believing he is in love with her, which of course we know is going to end badly.
I didn't like this story. For starters, the characters are way too young, Bobby is only 18 year old and Leandor, on 21. Let's be honest, there is no way an 18 year old girl would be made the chairwoman for a children's foundation, it just wouldn't happen. Then there is the fact the author just regurgitated the same conflict over and over again, we get it, Bobby has trust issues. But the thing that drove me absolutely bonkers, was the fact that Leandor is a complete male chauvinist. He would try and force himself on Bobby until she would finally give in to him. Throughout the story Bobby calls Leandor, a jerk, and that is exactly what he is, a jerk, but not in the affectionate way she uses as.
Book 11: Jade by Olivia Rigal Finish Date: May 28th, 2015 My Rating: 2 stars (it was ok) Review: A pretty boring read. I was disappointed that Jade didn't live up to its potential.
Book: 12: Kings of Asphalt by Alexx Andra Finish Date: June 3rd, 2015 My Rating:1.75 (not so good) Review:
Book 13: Operation: Burlesque by Michelle Fox Finish Date: June 8th, 2015 My Rating:2 stars (it was ok) Review: A little overly dramatic for my taste.
Book 14: KANE by Eliza Gayle Finish Date: July 8th, 2015 My Rating: 1 star (I didn't like it) Review: What a crap read. For starters, this is book two of a series which just throws you way off. When you start reading, Kane, a were cougar, is on the hunt to kill the witch who made attempts to kill his brother and his mate. The witch, Laura, has a hatred for the the entire cougar race and wants revenge. I got about 3 chapters into the book and finally couldn't take it anymore, and got the first book of the Series, Lucas' story, which first introduced Kane and Laura. The first book wasn't all that good and the second book was even worse in my opinion. Laura was one bad-ass, psycho bitch in that book, capable of some very dark and powerful magic. That did not hold true for the second book, she became all bark and no bite. Nothing every got explained, and the things that did, were lame and brushed past. Once Kane and Laura had sex, and that didn't take long to happen, that is all their was, sex. Big fat disappointment. I don't understand why this book was chosen for this anthology, Laura was not a curvaceous woman.
Dangerous Protector by Milly Taiden 5 stars I fell in love with Brock! So protective and sexy! Mmm. Cyn was awesome. I love how she stood her ground and was strong though battling some demons of her past! This book is another great example of why I love this author!!! Sexy exciting paranormal romance at it's best!
A Prowl On The Wild Side by Erika Masten 5 stars What's sexier? Wolf Shifter, Vikingesque looking man or both? Mmm, this is one sexy little story that had me captive! At the end I was screaming at my kindle. I wanted more! I need more! I'll be stalking this author for more stories!
Bear Biker Love by Harper Ashe 5 stars "Some women preferred a man in a tailored suit. Not Nina. Levi's worn low on the hips, not too loose, paired with a slightly fitted tee. That's what got her motor running." Me too Nina, me too. Yummy yum. Talk about sexy Bear shifter?! I fell in love with this book and certainly am excited to read more! Another author I'll be stalking.
Bear The Heat by Catherine Vale 4 stars Firemen, shifters, fighting and more. This has so many sexy elements that you don't need anymore! Either way, this was an awesome shifter story. I loved Caleb and Sonya. A man that cooks, gives footrubs, holy moly! This whole box set so far has been amazing and I'm finding authors I didn't know and am now in love with! The only reason this story was 4 stars was there were some errors in a few spots and I felt like the timeline just didn't work right for me. It felt off a little.
Heartbitten by Aubrey Rose 3 stars This one wasn't really a favorite. There was so much science talk that it actually started to bore me. Then the story starts to get better. Vampires, billionaires and what not. Sexyness. But then, after all the drama and build up, the ending just... fizzled for me. It was just over and I had expected, I don't know. more... or if there had been less drama maybe the ending would have been better for me.
Distracting the Billionaire’s Son by Jordan Bell 4 stars "These are my favorite things in the whole world. How have I lived so long without them?" OMG. Jonah was the dark, brooding, black sheep of the rich family. Jessica, the sisters best friend. But wow. If he commanded me around like he did her, I'd be a puddle in my pants too! This was certainly a sex story! I felt that the parent drama put it a little too much into the college drama and less sexy, so it's only 4 stars, but it was still a good read.
The Billionaire’s Curvy Guide by Danielle Duncan 5 stars This was a good read. No drama, no craziness. This was just a sweet, sexy romance where you actually see the romance. It wasn't just, hey, you're hot, let's screw. I rather enjoyed this story and this is a new to me author I'll be adding to my TBR.
Soldier by Liliana Rhodes 5 stars I plan to get more of these stories (if there are more) because I loved Dante and Gia, but I'm a huge fan of the mafia-esque romances. Tough killer, sweet sexy innocent woman? What's not to love? Hmmm.. I really liked this story. I certainly need to see more!
Something True by Malia Mallory 4 stars This was a sexy little rocker romance. But, that was it. I doubt I would waste my time on a 2nd book. I feel like everything was wrapped up really well. The characters were slightly boring despite their "famousness". It was a good story, just nothing to leave me craving more.
Heart Racer by Marina Tee 2 stars I think this title is wrong, and if not, then the book in here is wrong. It wasn't about Helios. It was about Leandro and Bobby. Either way, I truly disliked this story. I felt the characters (though portrayed to be more mature than their college ages) acted childish. They were impetuous and I didn't believe for a second that they were really in love. I never felt it. Then, the author tries to make Bobby act all hurt and fragile, but yet she jumps into it with Leandro? The story was all over the place. I really didn't feel it. Then to have 2 parts, not just 1, I really wasn't a fan. I just feel it was forced and fake. I was going to give it 3 stars, but once I read the ending, I lost it. The ending was the worst part of this story. It just didn't fit with the story at all. It was a waste for me.
Jade by Olivia Rigal 3 stars This story actually bored me. I felt it was more about the story than the romance and I don't want that to sound bad. I like a story with my romance. But this was really just.. it bored me. Drawn out, lagging. Too much happening. I couldn't get into it.
Kings of Asphalt by Alexx Andria 4 stars This was actually an awesome book. I enjoyed the threesome aspect. One powerful man rocks. Two is bliss! The story line read like an action movie, only sexier. There were a few things that bugged me though. How unoriginal, to have a biker named Jax. "The scent of something slippery." Can something smell slippery? It annoyed me. Other than that, This was one great read!
Operation: Burlesque by Michlle Fox 3 stars This was ok. I wasn't really into this story. It felt all over the place. I had no clue what was going on. I didn't like Blake. He was sort of a douche. I didn't feel "Alpha" from him at all. Ruby was naive and didn't seem as cool as they tried to make her out to be. It's not a horrible story, it just, wasn't that good. It barely kept my interest.
KANE by Eliza Gayle 5 stars I've read Bad Kitty. I love these characters. This story about revenge that leaves you wanting more, wondering where the story goes from there, it's a great read. It's interesting to see how things end up the way they do in later books. Cougars, hot, sexy, actions, guns, mmmm... this story has it all and moved right on up towards my top faves in this book!
In all, this is an interesting mix of stories in this box set. They range from awesome, to boring. But either way, there's lots of sexiness in between these covers! Enjoy
**I received an ARC for this story for an honest review
I didn't get a chance to read every story, so this is only for the ones I was able to get done.
Dangerous Protector by Milly Taiden This story is about Cynthia Vega, a women who left James Brock, her true love, when they were younger. Now that they are working together, James won't take no for an answer. I found this story very well written. James is very possessive and demanding. He refuses to leave everything alone in regards to Cynthia, especially since none of his feelings have changed and she never gave him a reason why. Cynthia is smart, independent, and determined to stay away from James for some personal, and very understanding reasons. I can totally understand her fears and I love how James's determination is able to overcome them. 5 stars
A Prowl On The Wild Side by Erika Masten Vanessa is a woman who thinks she's crazy just because she dreams that she's a lion and tends to wake up naked in her neighbors' yards. When she finally decides to approach the hot blond guy she sees every day at lunch, her life does a complete 360. This is the first story I've read from this author. I liked it a lot and got through it pretty quickly. The only problem I really had was sometimes the people would refer to themselves in a third person point of view that I found annoying. 4 stars
Bear Biker Love by Harper Ashe Nina is having a really bad day. When she finds Alex crashed in front of her house, she goes to help him. She doesn't realize that destiny is about to help her. This is the first book I've read from this author. I found it really well written. I felt for Alex as he struggled to deal with everything. I loved destiny's role in the mix. I look forward to reading more from this author. While this was just a novella, the author was able to put in enough that it felt like a complete story. She was able to build a world that makes you look forward to reading more about. 4 stars
Bear The Heat by Catherine Vale Caleb rescues Sonya from a fire, knowing right away that he didn't want to leave her side. Sonya's life was quickly going from bad to worse when Caleb saves her. She never dreamed it wouldn't be just the fire he saved her from. This was a pretty quick read and the first time I've read about firefighter bear shifters. I really liked the entire story and the twist at the end was definitely unexpected. 5 stars
Heartbitten by Aubrey Rose Robert Chatham is a self-obsessed billionaire playboy vampire who doesn't really think much beyond his current scope. Liz is a dedicated grad student studying abroad trying to find a cure for blood-born cancer. When Liz accidentally sees Robert in a rare moment of sensitivity, he doesn't make a good impression on her. When it turns out he runs the lab she works in, he quickly finds that she's the first girl he can't stay away from since he was human. Having read the sequel first, I had an idea on what happens in this story. I really liked the story and the introduction to the characters. I LOVE Robb's butler with what that poor guy has to deal with! One think that I loved about this the most was that, unlike other stories in the same genres, Robb didn't rush or push Liz into anything that her inexperience wasn't ready for. 5 stars
Soldier by Liliana Rhodes Gia is a young woman who is on the cusp of taking her vows as a nun when her mother passes away. She makes the decision to leave and heads home to her brother. What she finds is her brother up to his neck in serious trouble. Dante is in the Gambino family and was finishing up keeping an eye on Gia's brother until he sees her. Against orders, he keeps up his watch and when Gia is endangered because of her brother, Dante rescues her and keeps her safe. This story reminded me of many mafia movies I've watched over the years. I loved it!! Dante is quiet and private, trying to find a way out of the life he was born into. Gia is very innocent and trusting and through time is able to figure a bit of Dante out. I thought they fit well together. I can't wait to read the rest of their story. 5 stars
Something True by Malia Mallory Shelley Taylor is a singer who devotes much of her time a charity that helps sick children. Liam Smith is a rock star that has gotten into trouble one too many times. His lawyer talks him into volunteering at Shelley's charity to make a better impression with a judge. Once he meets Shelley, he can't resist her and tries to win her over and prove he's not as bad as he used to be. Considering it's a rock star story, this was a fairly light read. Liam was really charming and sincere. Shelley isn't in the market for any romantic entanglements, especially one that would have as much baggage as Liam's. I was happy to see, unlike some rock star books, the author didn't try throwing in every possible bad scenario that could happen. 5 stars
I was gifted a copy of this Anthology in return for an honest review.
This one has a lot of my favorite authors. Books that I've previously read on my own so here goes :)
Dangerous Protector by Milly Taiden
This is the second book in federal Paranormal Unit series.
Cynthia Vega has loved James Brock from the moment they met. They were soul mates. When she comes into devastating information she makes the decision to leave him. Even though it broke her heart. When ten years later she is given a chance to work with him, to be near him she jumps at it. What she doesn't count on is that James wants her just as badly. After waiting for over ten years to understand why she left him he is adamant that this time she won't get away. She is his... and not even her wariness can stop him.
I really liked how determined James was to prove to Cyn that no matter what was going on in their lives he wouldn't stop loving her. I enjoyed that Cyn was such a strong character. She was special in her own ways and just as eager to prove that she was strong enough to stand on her own to feet.
A Prowl On The Wild Side by Erika Masten
Vanessa thinks she's losing her mind. In a gentle sort of way. She sleepwalks almost nightly finding herself naked outside her neighbors homes. She swears she can smell things others can't. Has memories that everyone around assure her are nothing but nightmares. And yet deep inside she knows there's more to her. When she met Eric Salo he was just the man of her dreams come to life. There is something about him that calls to her on an instinctual level but he is fighting it every step of the way. When Vanessa's life is put in danger Eric has no other thought but to protect her. Even though he doesn't want to admit it she is his.
Vanessa was vulnerable and feisty all at the same time. There was so much to her. She hid the real her from people around her for a long time. It was interesting to see that backbone peak thru when you least expected it to. Eric was a hot alpha in every sense of the word. Always fighting against his wolf to try to be a better man. The combination of the two of them together was explosive.
Bear Biker Love by Harper Ashe
Bear The Heat by Catherine Vale
Heartbitten by Aubrey Rose
Distracting the Billionaire's Son by Jordan Bell
The Billionaire's Curvy Guide by Daniele Duncan
Soldier by Liliana Rhodes
This is the first book in the Made Man Series.
Gia has always been the dutiful daughter. Doing what was in the best interest to her family and burying herself away at a nunnery like her mother wanted. But know that her mother has passed away she decides its time to come home and start a life of her own. Unbeknownst to her, her brother is in financial problems with some very evil men and now their sights are set on Gia.
Dante Gambino is a hitman. A killer. Its all he knows. Until Gia. Something about her makes him want to protect her from every evil in the world. She captured him from the moment he first saw her walking on the street. When they finally meet face to face Gia has no idea who this man is other that he saved her. But never has she felt safer or more protected than when she is in his arms.
In the beginning Gia seemed like such a soft spoken woman. As the story went on you could see how much grit she actually had. There were times she floundered but always got back on her feet and fought for what she wanted. I absolutely adored Dante from the start. He was a walking contradiction. Everything he did was for Gia. To protect her. To make her his in every way possible. Such an amazing series!
Something True by Malia Mallory
Heart racer by Marina Tee
Jade by Olivia Rigal
Kings of Asphalt by Alexx Andria
Operation: Burlesque by Michelle Fox
Kane by Eliza Gayle
This is the second book in Black Cougar Series.
Kane is on a mission to kill a woman that is a threat to his clan. The only problem is he wants her like no other woman before her. Determined to do his duty he chases her till he has her in his clutches. But is he really the hunter or the prey?
Lara thinks of nothing but revenge. Someone from the Black Cougar clan murdered her mother and she has sworn to exact vengeance on them. So why can't she can't she do it when she finally has Kane within her grasp?
There are secrets on both sides. The question is can do stop long from killing each other long enough to find out the truth.
Lara was a bad ass. She was a tough, determined, and spunky. Kane was confused about what to do. Although he knew what his duty was as an enforcer he couldn't bring himself to hurt Lara. This contradiction made him an interesting character.
I can say all the books I have read are top notch 5 star books. I’ve read a few of these books in the past and for some reason never wrote reviews. As I read them again I will write individual reviews and add them here. This is a phenomenal book set. Well worth buying. Dangerous Protector by Milly Taiden 5 Stars
A Prowl On The Wild Side by Erika Masten
Bear Biker Love by Harper Ashe
Bear The Heat by Catherine Vale 5 Stars Justice finally win’s Loved this wonderful self-contained love story of Caleb and Sonya. Both having to deal with things from the past, mainly a crooked Alpha named Damien. Both men wanting Sonya but only one can have her. Caleb will have to fight Damien in a death match to keep her. Damien will win at all costs if he has anything to say about it, even unscrupulous means. Well written and very enjoyable story to read. I was given a copy for an honest review.
Heartbitten by Aubrey Rose
Distracting the Billionaire’s Son by Jordan Bell
The Billionaire’s Curvy Guide by Danielle Duncan
Soldier by Liliana Rhodes 5 Stars Tail of love and death, family and betrayal First book of the series and yet self contained with no cliff hanger. Sometimes less is more. So much said without having it said or written. I was happy to find out in the end who did the deed. (Can't say more without it being a spoiler) A nice short Mob love story that also had love and betrayal in it. After reading this book a second time I realized all the things I missed the first time around. Looking forward to the next book in the series and where the author takes the story. I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Dangerous Protector by Milly Taiden 4 out of 5 Stars so many twists and turns hope the sheriff gets thrown in prison such a sad and twisted personal history if the husband left because of the half-sister what was she doing in town with the half-brother?

Bear the Heat by Catherine Vale 4 out of 5 Stars like the group/clan can't wait for Damien and his rogues to be brought to justice I would feel a little more bad for Damien if he hadn't abused his people the father was evil and deserved his fate, glad her mom is moving on

Recommendation: Fun reads, some I've read before and some new ones for me.
I got this as a gift. Now I'm gonna review the crap out of it.
I review as I read. ^_^
Heart Racer by Marian Tee 5 Stars Part 1 Loved it! Leandro and Bobby are such a cute couple, this cynical smart mouth and bad boy-attempting-to-be-good are both prideful yet passionate. Leandro gets a little devious (and adorable) with his plans in having a pretend girlfriend, but they both take a chance and...
This was too cute, and I loved the introduction of the bikers, dubbed "Heart Racers" by the media. Leandro is a bad boy really trying to change, and the plot between him and Bobby is good but heartbreak just waiting to happen T_T. Very entertaining, hot and funny. I enjoyed reading it :)
Part 2 They're crazy! haha I loved how after a year they seemed more mature, but I loved that they were able to come back to one another. Definitely made for each other lol the story line was entertaining. I cried, laughed and got horny so it's a *thumbs up* for me.
(Have a tissue box at hand, though. Maybe two.)
Dangerous Protector by Milly Taiden 5 Stars Very hot lol definitely more erotic than anything else XD Where can I find a demon/wolf of my own? The paranormal unit was hilarious and I can't wait to read more on them. Brock and Cyn were just as crazy, but I loved watching their "meant to be" chemistry put them back together like they'd never left. The missing cousin was an interesting back drop to their romance (sorry Roxy). The flow was pretty good and their sexual tension during a missing person's case would've been a little weird if it weren't so cute because of their history together XD The copy I got had a few errors, otherwise it was very entertaining.
A Prowl on the Wild Side by Erika Masten 4 Stars Not gonna lie, I saw 6'4'' Nordic God and thought:
XD Vanessa was a fun character to read, and I liked Alexander (what I'm gonna call him haha, it is his first name after all). He was a very bad wolf for not double-checking but- I can live with it lol especially because they end up together. "But what happens if one of them finds their mate?" That's the impression I was left with, and the last thing I want is any problems between them T_T, though it did make me wonder if 'mate' is not really "soul mate" but rather someone you can be compatible with, and trust me, Match.com couldn't have done better XD
I liked this a lot, but a few sentences throughout the story tripped me up, making me backtrack and lose the flow of the story. Another thing was Vanessa's curves being constantly brought up. I know she's a curvy girl, but I don't need to be reminded of curvy-girl-problems because it ruins the mood, especially when she's being portrayed as someone who doesn't care. It came up so much, it made me wonder if her curves were something I had to worry about, which doesn't make sense. Aside from that, there were a few errors in this copy; the missing words added tribute to my tripping (curse you, errors). Otherwise, I liked the world I visited!
Okay so I had read several of these stories previously as stand-alones. Milly Taiden - Dangerous Protector; Harper Ashe - Bear Biker Love; Jordan Bell - Distracting the Billionaire's son; Malia Mallory - Something True; Marian Tee - Heart Racer; Alexx Andria - Kings of Asphalt; Michelle Fox - Operation Burlesque and finally Olivia Rigal - Jade. All of these books I totally loved and actually re-read every single one of them again! Yes they are that good! I mean seriously folks, all of these great authors and stories in one compilation! And its only 99 cents. You can't get a better deal than that.
The remaining books I had not read so I will do an individua l quick review on each. Erika Masten - A Prowl on the Wild Side: Vanessa was awesome. She was strong, had great self-esteem and knew how to rock her curves. A little bit of action in this on that makes it fast paced and fun.
Catherine Vale - Bear the Heart: An uber sexy firefighter and a woman trying to escape a bad situation and make it on her own. A villian and a twist in the story that I didnt see coming. Loved the chemistry between Caleb and Sonya.
Aubrey Rose - Heartbitten: A vampire who has given up on love but loves romantic poetry meets a girl who is focused on her research. It is fate or destiny that that brings them together...well that is a question you can get answered if you read this story. I like the fact that Liz is very smart and a very determined and strong-willed woman. Its a little bit of a roller coaster ride. I feel really bad for what Robb has been through and seen. But their struggles lead to a HEA.
Liliana Rhodes - Soilder: Gia and Dante. A woman who was supposed to take vows and become a nun meets a man who has ties to the mafia. Gia was just so nice, so giving. She lived other peoples dreams and let them take advantage of her. The hero is Dante who wants nothing more than to take care of Gia. To treat her like she deserves to be. I liked the back and forth viewpoints from both characters. It is always good to see how the other interprets a situation, I think if well done if makes a story stronger. I did in this one. There is a cliffhanger at the end so be warned. But I am definitely going to buy the next two in the series. I gotta find out what happens!
Eliza Gayle - Kane: Girl meets boy, but boy has been sent to kill girl. Will their chemistry and love overcome this obstacle. Wll Kane and Lara have some sizzling chemistry that just jumps off the pages. I love that Lara is a fighter and that she doesn't take anything lying down. A good action packed read that will keep you captivated.
Now I will confess that my most favorite of the books were Jade by Olivia Rigal; Distracting the billionaire's son by Jordan Bell; Heart Racer by Marian Tee and Soilder by Liliana Rhodes. These women are some of my most favorite authors and this compilation does not disappoint. I guarantee that you will enjoy each and everyone of these stories as I did. I will probably end up reading them all again!
NOTE: I was provided an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review
Dangerous Protector by Milly Taiden- Another great book from Milly. I seriously love her writing! She makes you really feel for her characters and invest in the stories, and this one is no different. It's full of lots of mystery and intrigue and a really hot love story. Cyn left James 10 years ago because she thought it was best for his happiness. Now she's back as his new boss and he wants answers. I adore James! He's always loved Cyn. She's his mate and even though she left him without an explanation he's willing to forgive her.
A Prowl on the Wild Side by Erika Masten- This was a first for me from this author but it definitely wont be my last. It was freaking hot! The build up between Vanessa and Eric made for a great ride.
Bear Biker Love by Harper Ashe- This one was really sweet shifter read with some action and suspense thrown in. The characters were pretty amusing and all the antics of trying to actually get Nina and Alex together. It was a fun and fast read.
Bear the Heat by Catherine Vale- This was super steamy! I was sucked in right away and read it straight through. It had action and some suspense. Caleb and Sonya are great together. I really admired Sonya and how strong she was with the hand she'd been dealt. Caleb is very honorable and just sexy. Who wouldn't love a were-bear fireman? I definitely plan on getting more from this author.
Heartbitten by Aubrey Rose- Review coming soon
Distracting the Billionaires Son by Jordan Bell- Review coming soon
The Billionaires curvy guide by Danielle Duncan- Review coming soon
Soldier by Liliana Rhodes- Review coming soon
Something True by Malia Mallory- This was so sweet and very heartwarming! I only wish it were longer. I really liked Shelley and Liam. Shelley is very admirable for the work she's doing with the charity. Liam was absolutely adorable helping the kids in the hospital. It was just a very touching story.
Heart Racer by Mariana Tee- Review coming soon
Jade by Olivia Rigal- Review coming soon
Kings of Asphalt by Alexx Andria- Review coming soon
Operation: Burlesque by Michelle Fox- Review coming soon
I haven't read all the books in the box set but I have read 3 which were all fabulous. Each one brings something new and different to give you a great mix of stories with this set.
Soldier: Gia has been hiding at the convent but has to return home when he mother dies. Her brother Terry ends up putting her in a dangerous situation but a dark knight appears to save her … Dante. She had only met Dante once and she had this incredible attraction to him, something she had never experienced before. Dante sees an angel appear from the subway and is drawn into Gia's vortex. He never expected to become her protector and rescuer. Can they find happiness amongst all the chaos their two families bring? I loved being pulled in the mob world with all the complexities of family relationships and loyalties … the chemistry and passion between Gia and Dante sucks you in giving you a great romance to root for.
Bear Biker Love: Fabulous short paranormal romance. Alex is the Alpha and is suddenly without a clan and only has his grandfather's dying words to guide him to his mate. Nina feels the world is conspiring against her as the new girl Hannah seems to end up with everything she wants. Feeling down she goes home early from a night at the bar and finds the mysterious Alex injured in her driveway. From the moment she saw him she was drawn to him. Alex is enchanted with Nina, now he needs to convince her that they belong together. Of course, all of this has to happen before the Hunters find them. Harper Ashe gives you all the intensity, romance and drama packed into a small package for a quick escape.
Kane: What would you do if a sexy black cougar shape shifter was trying to kill you? Well, Lara is one chick that won't be taking that lying down and she fights back. Kane is sent to kill Lara but there is something about her that makes him pause. When these 2 finally end up in a room together, the sparks fly and truths are told. So now Kane is trying to help her but also senses she is his mate. How can he protect her from his clan and mate her? Will she even trust him enough to let him? Totally hot chemistry, great intrigue and super passionate and hot sex. A great shape shifter escape to feed all your fantasies!
I read first Soldier by Liliana Rhodes. 4.5 to 5 stars
I liked how this book was unique in its writing style and plot. The assassin/Soldier Dante works for the MOB, its not a life he wants for himself but its what he's stuck with. Gia who's been away in a convent for four years comes home before taking her final vows because her mother passed away. A lot of drama in Gia's world, with her piece of crap brother who not only conned his others brothers and sisters but he put Gia is grave danger. Dante when watching Gia's brother meetings his Angel as he calls her, he's drawn to her goodness and wants to spoil and love her forever, but life always gets in the way but what Dante cant come to terms with is Gia's love for him and her understanding that underneath his killing and his tough exterior is a beautifully scarred man with a huge heart. Action packed, loving and full of twists and turns. A lot going on, very interesting story and would love to read the next in this series. Another great story.
I then read Operation: Burlesque by Michlle Fox
This story was hard for me to grasp and get into. I felt a little lost in parts, it was a little bit to this way and that, not a lot of focus and story line. I thought the characters were ok, Blake was kind of a jerk not a dreamy alpha like I love and Ruby well she seemed kind of naive and silly. I felt it could have been more well rounded with more focus and better characters. This story just wasn't for me. 3 stars
I did not read the rest of the stories yet but will and will update as I go. Review by Nanee at upallnightreadallday.blogspot.com
ALPHAS PREFER CURVES anthology Volume One MILLY TAIDEN - DANGEROUS PROTECTOR Read years ago, 2014, and original review is missing. Reread in the box set when book three finally came out. Love the whole series. Feisty smart women with powers of their own and Alpha men who are yummy but with brains. ERIKA MASTEN - A PROWL ON THE WILD SIDE HARPER ASHE - BEAR BIKER LOVE CATHERINE VALE - BEAR THE HEAT A good read but it didn't grab me though I did like the twist ending. Caleb saves Sonya's life and they fall for each other. Only problem is Sonya is promised to the rotten alpha that forced Caleb from his clan. The usual challenge fight to the death is issued but it did have a good twist. AUBREY ROSE - HEARTBITTEN JORDAN BELL - DISTRACTING THE BILLIONAIRE’S SON DANIELLE DUNCAN - THE BILLIONAIRE’S CURVY GUIDE LILIANA RHODES. - THE BILLIONAIRE’S CURVY GUIDE SOLDIER MALIA MALLORY - SOMETHING TRUE MARIAN TEE - HEART RACER OLIVIA RIGAL - JADE ALEXX ANDRIA - KINGS OF ASPHALT MICHELLE FOX - OPERATION - BURLESQUE ELIZA GAYLE - KANE Cannot like Lara and feel Kane is being led by his male parts. Doesn’t really answer many questions left from book one. In reality it leaves one with more questions needing answers. Lara really had a poor reason for her actions and didn’t actually enact her revenge on anyone, as she was working with Malcolm in book one and is the mate of Kane in book two. We also have the fact she had sex with Kane’s older brother Malcolm in book one, even though she swore revenge on the black cougars. Doesn’t make sense. Left with a cliff hanger.
I received this set, as an ARC, from one of my favorite authors, Milly Taiden. I have read 4 of the stories so I will review those and add to this as I finish the others.
Dangerous Protector: I will start by saying that I felt a teeny bit lost because, while these can be read as stand-alone novels, the background from the other stories would have been helpful. As this is not the first in the Federal Paranormal Unit series, I felt like I should have read the preceding books in the series to get the most out of this book. Moving on... As always I love the Alpha male aspect of the story. Brock was not about to let his woman slip away again and I believe that he would have moved heaven and earth in order to keep her from running away again. Cynthia was a little hard for me to relate to. For her to get where she is in her career she would have to be tough as nails but that is not the impression I got from her at all. She was emotional and wishy washy and just didn't strike me as a major player in the FBI. I enjoyed the supporting characters quite a lot, although, there again, the back story would have been a good thing to have. The other members of the unit were entertaining and would be worth the read if they had their own books. As for the story line, outside of the relationship aspect, I enjoyed the mystery behind Cynthia's cousin's disappearance and I did not see the two big reveals coming, which is a good thing! Overall, I thought this was a great read and I will definitely be reading other books in this series.
Great Sexy Boxed Set! This is a great boxed set, with some amazing authors. There are even some authors that I have not read yet, which is why I love these boxed sets. If you love paranormal books then you need to get this set. Each book has curvy women and sexy hot alpha men, what a great combination. Dangerous Protector by Milly Taiden was great, I love this series and want more. Cynthia broke up with her fiancé Brock 10 years ago, he will always be the man she loves but she found out some family secrets that have made her afraid to have a family so she ran. Now she is back and working with Brock and they soon realizes that the sparks are hot as ever, and Brock is not letting Cynthia go again. A Prowl on the Wild Side by Erika Masten was great, Vanessa has always had dreams where she was a Lion, she soon learns the truth that she truly is a Lioness shape shifter and has the hots for a sexy wolf. I am still trying to finish reading this set, but looking forward to reading the other books in this set. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
So far I've only read two stories, and loved them. Soldier by Liliana Rhodes, was just Wow! For a shorter story, I still felt like it packed a punch. You learned so much about the characters. I felt for Gia and everything she had to deal with. Dante was a different story, he seemed like a closed book. I loved how he swore to protect her, and he goes above and beyond to do that. I can't wait to see what happens! Heart Racer by Marian Tee A great read, with some unexpected thrown in. Leandro needs to clean up his image. He thinks Roberta (Bobby) is the perfect way to do it. Bobby doesn't like Leandro, and doesn't trust easily. She falls for his game, hook line and sinker, and she gets burnt over a misunderstanding. She doesn't see it that way though, and is crushed. Overall a great short read, that pulled at my heart. I can't wait to read the rest of this boxed set, so far it's been amazing.
The only story I have read so far, is Soldier by Liliana Rhodes. This is the first book in the Made Man Trilogy and tells the story of Dante and his love, Gia. Dante is a Soldier for his mafia family, even though he is not happy doing it. Gia was in a convent, studying to be a nun, so two different people you cannot meet. Our couple meet and fall in love almost overnight, but Dante must do something about her brother, who keeps dragging Gia into his own illegal dealings and putting her in constant danger. WhAt Dante must do, he knows could harm his relationship with Gia. I was a fan of Liliana Rhodes before the Made Man Trilogy but I became her number one fan after this series. I absolutely adored it. Such a great read, you will not be able to put it down. At least you don't have to wait for the next book in the series.
These are 14 stories by some of my favorite authors! We have hot, erotic romance from big bad Alpha men- and some of them are more than men - hot deadly shifters - wolves, bears, and vampires. Then you have the biker types that just sweet the gorgeous big beautiful women off their feet and give them so hard rough loving! So if you like you men in charge and your heroine nice healthy curvy girls then you are going to love this book! I've actually bought other books by these authors and this is a perfect introduction to their other great reads!
I received this as an ARC in return for an honest review!
So far I've read "Dangerous Protector Federal Paranormal Unit By Milly Taiden." It is excellent and quite unusual. I think maybe I have read another Federal Paranormal Unit story, but I'm not sure. This is totally readable as a stand alone story, though it raised interest in my mind about the other characters. The hero is great. I'll let you find out about him in the story, rather than giving it away, but he has awesome abilities. The heroine is human with a bit of psychic ability, but it isn't developed very much. This is a suspense story with lots of twists and turns, as well as a romance. I loved it.
This bundle started with some of my favorite authors and it was like that all the way through to the end. Some I know well and others are new to me but I will be buying them again. It incorporates interesting storylines and fascinating plots and main characters that will keep you entertained for hours. In here are sweet to hot sweltering romances that definitely make your pressure rise, lol. And each author gives us curvy girls who get their hunks. Enjoy I did!
This is a great boxed set for anyone who appreciates the strong alpha male. I follow the majority of these writers already and in fact read Hear Racer and Operation:Burlesque previously. These selections make me want to read more from these writers and I will. As I finished each selection, I looked to see what I have from my extensive library that I have not yet read from them and to check what other purchases I want to make. Glad I made this purchase and recommend it whole heartedly.
If for the first four stories alone this is a must buy. I love all the characters pull you in and you must know what happens next. The heroines are kick ass and the heroes are strong enough to let them be strong and care for them to. Heart racer by Marian tee us also a great story and can't wait until the next one.Michelle Fox hits it out the park again with a wonderful plot and great characters to pull you in won't be disappointed in this set.
