Some stories are buried. Some are erased. And some refuse to disappear.
When Anaya, a mural restorer, is denied credit for her own work, she retreats to a remote Himalayan valley, seeking silence. Instead, she finds a monastery wall that seems to remember more than it reveals.
There, she meets Tsering, whose quiet presence feels strangely familiar. As Anaya restores the fractured mural, hidden layers begin to surface, drawing them into a past the valley has tried to hold in place.
But the deeper they go, the more the valley resists, in shifting ground, breaking silence, and revealing a love once sealed away.
When the past refuses to stay buried, what will the valley demand in return?
I feel like this is one of those books where I need to tell you right at the beginning that it’s not a fast-paced read. It’s slow, gentle, very atmospheric, and honestly, I think that’s exactly what makes it work.
So, we meet Anaya, who is a mural restorer. She’s worked on a project, put her heart and soul into it, and then her boss takes away the credit for her work.
And I felt that part personally. Because when you’re someone who genuinely puts your soul into what you do, having someone else take credit for it isn't just frustrating. It feels personal. It feels like someone is taking ownership of something that carries a piece of you.
And Anaya reaches that point where she just... leaves.
She retreats to this remote Himalayan valley because she needs silence. She needs to get away from everything. And I mean, who hasn't had that thought at some point? When life feels too heavy, you just want to pack a bag and disappear somewhere in the mountains.
While staying in this remote and mysterious Himalayan valley, she finds a fractured mural on a monastery wall. And this mural seems to remember things that the valley has been trying to forget.
That's also where she meets Tsering. And I really liked how quietly their relationship develops. It doesn't feel forced or like the romance has been inserted into the story just because the book needs a love story. There's this strange familiarity between them, and as Anaya starts restoring the mural, they slowly uncover the story hidden underneath it. And suddenly, we're dealing with history, folklore, mystery, memory... and a love that was buried a long, long time ago.
What I really loved about this book is the writing. Rheaa Noor writes very poetically, and the whole book is incredibly atmospheric. The mountains, the river, the monastery—you don't really feel like you're just looking at a backdrop. They almost become characters themselves. The mountains have this really calm, comforting presence throughout the book, even when what's happening underneath that calm is anything but comforting. And because the book moves at a slower pace, you actually get time to sit with the emotions. There's mystery and suspense, yes, but this isn't a book that's constantly trying to shock you. It's much more interested in letting you feel things. And I think that's why the slower pace worked for me.
Also, there's a little surprise towards the end that I really enjoyed. There's a QR code in the book that takes you to "The River's Song", and listening to it felt like this really beautiful final goodbye to the story.

Some novels are read...others are inhabited. "When Mountains Remember Love" is one of those rare stories that settles quietly within you and lingers long after you turn the final page.
📖The Plot:
The story follows Anaya, a mural restorer carrying the weight of disappointment and unspoken grief who journeys to a secluded Himalayan valley in search of solace....the trip Delhi to Rivervale (sounds so serene, right?). There, amidst ancient monasteries and whispering rivers, she encounters Tsering....a man as gentle and steadfast as the mountains themselves, the character that will become your fav for all the right reasons by the time you turn the last page of the book.
💭What I liked:
The way the Himalayas transcend mere setting & become a living, breathing presence....the guardians of forgotten memories, silent witnesses to heartbreak and ultimately the custodians of healing. As Anaya restores an ancient mural, she simultaneously begins restoring fragments of herself, making the narrative profoundly symbolic, relatable and deeply moving.
This is not merely a romance...it is a meditation on memory, belonging, identity & most importantly the courage it takes to begin again. @rheaa_noor has written it with such ease, it all feels lyrical, immersive & almost poetic.🙌🏻
And then comes the final gift...the QR code leading to River. Listening to the song which is written by the author herself, after finishing the book felt like hearing the mountains bid one last, tender farewell. Couldn't be more perfect :)
It's a story about finding a home in unexpected places and discovering that some loves, like mountains, never truly forget.
So, if you enjoy slow burn romance, lit-fic, hidden histories, LGBTQ+ and emotional but comforting stories with atmospheric settings....definitely give this one a try.
Thank you Rhea Noor, for crafting a novel so atmospheric and heartfelt.Your words feel like a gentle mountain breeze soft, healing and impossible to forget. 🤍🏔️📚
When Mountains Remember Love is a beautifully crafted novel that weaves together self-discovery, healing, and love against the breathtaking backdrop of the Himalayas. From the very first page, the setting creates a serene yet mysterious atmosphere, drawing readers into Anaya's world as she leaves behind a life marked by disappointment in search of a new beginning.
As a mural restorer, Anaya's journey is not only about uncovering hidden stories within an ancient artwork but also about rediscovering herself. The restoration of the mural mirrors her own path of healing, while themes of identity, memory, grief, belonging, and homecoming add emotional depth to the narrative. The relationships unfold naturally, bringing warmth and authenticity to the story.
The author's writing is graceful and immersive, with vivid descriptions that make the mountains and valleys feel like living, breathing characters. The gentle pacing allows the emotions and character growth to shine, making it an ideal read for those who enjoy atmospheric, character-driven fiction.
A thoughtful touch that elevates the reading experience is the QR code at the end of the book, which leads to The River Song, beautifully sung by the author herself. It serves as a fitting companion to the story, offering one final emotional connection before the journey comes to an end.
A comforting and reflective read that lingers in your heart long after the final page. 🤍📖🏔️
What is real? What is unreal? How would you chalk up a difference between the two? A dream that plays in front of your eyelids while asleep is a figment of your imagination but the brains that dreams is as real as the bones that cage it. The author deftly centres the world of this book in the twilight zone between these two: the real and the unreal. So what's it about? When Anaya, a mural restorer, is denied credit for her own work, she retreats to a remote Himalayan valley, seeking silence. Instead, she finds a monastery wall that seems to remember more than it reveals. What happens then? Well I am not going to tell you everything here. Pick up the book and find out more.
The starting of the book will anger you, particularly if you have had a toxic boss sometime in your life. (wouldn't it be almost everyone of us?) These exchanges between Anaya and her boss are quite infuriating. Through these lines, the author has also punctured the patriarchy and through her protagonist, tried to show that everyone must stand up for themselves. Have a look: "She is good," he said lightly. "But she gets too attached. Restoration is science, not emotion. She is still learning professionalism.” Professionalism. A word used to silence women who care. A word used to question women who resist. A word used by men who steal. Something inside her settled. Not peace. Clarity."
From here, to combat the anger and the rage, the author veers towards peace and calm. Rivervale, where Anaya goes to find herself, is peace personified. The story also goes quite atmospheric here. I loved how these sentences made me feel so lifelike: "She dressed without sound, layering a shawl over a cardigan over the fatigue that still sat in her bones. She slid her notebook into her bag, as if carrying paper could keep her anchored to herself. The floorboards were cold beneath her feet until she found her shoes. When she opened the door, the corridor outside was empty, the air tasting faintly of quiet and someone else's sleep. Downstairs, the lodge was hushed. A kettle murmured."
The writing, in many passages and pages, flickers like a flame, words burning themselves upon my reader's palate while I try and not let my wings singe like a common moth. Thick with drama of real emotions, the story imitates life. Read this: "She dreamed of a wall shedding pigment like tired skin. Of eyes watching from across water she could not cross. Of incense rising from stone floors. Of a hand warm against hers. Something calling her. Or remembering her. She told herself not to search for metaphor. Metaphor had a way of softening pain into beauty. Some pain demanded plainness. Stil, the mind wandered where it pleased. The bus lurched. Someone murmured in sleep. The baby sighed, a sound so small it cracked something open inside her. Her heart, long held brittle by restraint, loosened slightly."
Many stories have been penned around the theme of friendship and finding yourself and your place in the world while being bolstered by the friends you have and the support they give. Anaya finds Tsering in a quaint Himalayan village where he in turn helps her to find herself. Read this: "That depends on whom you ask," she said. "Some say they were buried. Some say they walked into the mountain and it opened. Some say the mountain kept them so completely that they became part of its spine." "And you?" Anaya asked. Tsering reached out, as if to adjust her own shawl, and instead her fingers found the edge of Anaya's scarf. She straightened it where it had slipped, the back of her knuckles brushing Anaya's throat."
The storytelling is engaging and the writing style skilful. The characters feel real and full bodied, not lifeless and cardboardish. The reader feels helpless as there is only one goal in the present and now: to finish the book. Everything else comes later.
There are some books that tell a beautiful story, and then there are books that feel personal. When Mountains Remember Love by Rheaa Noor was definitely the latter for me.
The story follows Anaya, a mural restorer whose hard work is overlooked when someone else takes credit for it. Feeling invisible and unappreciated, she leaves Delhi behind and retreats to a remote Himalayan valley in search of peace. Instead, she finds herself restoring an ancient monastery mural that seems to hold secrets of its own. There, she meets Tsering, whose quiet presence feels strangely familiar. As hidden layers of the mural begin to emerge, so do long-buried stories, drawing them into a mystery where memory, love, and the past intertwine in unexpected ways.
What made this book especially meaningful to me was its setting. Ever since I was a child, I've loved the mountains. They have always been my favorite places to visit.....a place where I feel calm, grounded, and most like myself. Because of that, this book felt incredibly special. Rheaa Noor captures the beauty and stillness of the Himalayas so vividly that I often felt as though I was walking alongside the characters through mist-covered valleys and monastery corridors.
I found myself connecting deeply with Anaya. Her frustration at being denied credit for her work felt incredibly real, and I admired the courage it took to leave everything behind and start over. Watching her slowly heal, rediscover her confidence, and find meaning beyond external validation was one of the most rewarding parts of the story.
The connection between Tsering and Anaya develops gently and naturally, making their relationship feel sincere and earned.
What truly sets this book apart is the way it blends romance, literary fiction, mystery, and LGBTQ+ representation. The restoration of the monastery mural becomes more than just a project.....it becomes a journey into forgotten stories, hidden truths, and the ways in which love can echo through time.
Another detail I absolutely loved was the QR code included at the end of the book. Scanning it takes you to a song written by the author that perfectly captures the atmosphere and emotions of the story. Listening to it after finishing the book felt like spending a little more time in Anaya and Tsering's world, and it was such a thoughtful addition to the reading experience.
Overall, When Mountains Remember Love was a comforting, immersive, and deeply emotional read. It reminded me why I love stories set in the mountains and why character-driven narratives leave such a lasting impact.
And perhaps that's why this book stayed with me.....it wasn't just a story set in the mountains. It felt like coming home to a place I've always loved.
Mountains Remember Love by Rheaa Noor is a beautifully crafted work of literary fiction that seamlessly blends romance, LGBTQ representation, and elements of a thriller into an emotionally resonant story. At its heart, the novel explores love, healing, identity, and the quiet strength found in embracing change.
One of the most compelling aspects of the book is Anaya’s character. She is a talented mural restorer, but her life is marked by heartbreak when someone else takes credit for her hard work. This emotional betrayal leaves her disillusioned and wounded. Her world begins to change when she meets Tsering, and what follows is a deeply moving journey of self-discovery, emotional healing, and unexpected connection. The transition from Delhi to the Himalayas feels symbolic—like moving from chaos to calm. The mountains become more than just a setting; they emerge as silent witnesses to grief, hope, and renewal.
Rheaa Noor’s language is refreshingly simple, yet her writing style is remarkably mature. She doesn’t rely on ornate prose to create impact. Instead, her thoughtful storytelling, well-paced narrative, and nuanced character development keep readers completely engrossed from beginning to end. The romance unfolds naturally, while the underlying suspense adds just enough tension to keep the pages turning.
A particularly unique feature of Mountains Remember Love is the QR code printed at the back of the book. Scanning it takes readers to a YouTube video featuring a song written by the author herself. The song is truly melodious and deeply soothing. Listening to it feels like being transported to the tranquil European highlands, making it a beautiful extension of the novel’s atmosphere. It enhances the reading experience and lingers long after the final chapter.
Mountains Remember Love is a thoughtful and immersive read that will appeal to readers who enjoy emotionally rich literary fiction with romance, meaningful LGBTQ representation, and a touch of thriller. Rheaa Noor has created a story that reminds us that sometimes the greatest journeys are the ones that lead us inward, where love and healing quietly await.
I have been drawn to the mountains ever since my first trek to the Himalayas—specifically, the Valley of Flowers. Before that, the mountains made me uncomfortable and actually quite uneasy. But as I stepped into those vibrant meadows, my soul became a compass that points only toward the altitude. What drew me back to the mountains? The latest addition to my bookshelf, When Mountains Remember Love by Rheaa Noor , was all the invitation I needed. The narrative follows Anaya, a mural restorer based in Delhi. She works on the Chandi Ghat mural with complete devotion, believing that restoration is not about correction, but conservation. However, when the mural is finished, Ajay Khanna, head of the Heritage Restoration Council, claims all the credit, effectively scrubbing Anaya’s name from all official records. Disappointed and seeking solitude, she heads to the Himalayas to rediscover who she once was. From there, her mysterious journey begins.
This book was a novel experience for me as a reader of queer fiction. At the outset, I anticipated literary prose exploring themes of disappointment, ignorance, and a journey of self-discovery. But midway through, among pages of homecoming, memory, grief, and recognition, the story morphs into something far more profound. The most compelling aspect of the book is its lyrical prose, atmospheric tone, and the strong personification that surfaces throughout. Lines like, “The trail felt less like a route and more like a conversation already in progress,” do not simply describe events; they interpret them through metaphor and emotional resonance. The author has a gift for negative definition describing scenes not by what they are, but by what they feel like. Every such sentence compelled me to read it twice. I have never encountered this specific type of literary fiction, one that weaves romance and thrills through the lens of art.
Ideal for fans of longer, immersive reads who value deep character studies and a beautifully layered, slow-burning plot.
Have you ever been fascinated by ancient local legends? The kind of stories that are passed down through generations, making you wonder what really happened for them to survive the test of time? If that sounds like you, then When Mountains Remember Love by Rheaa Noor is a book worth picking up.
The novel follows Anaya, a mural restorer who leaves behind her life in Delhi and moves to a quiet Himalayan valley. And soon this move turns into something far more intriguing when the walls of an old monastery seem to hold secrets waiting to be uncovered. As Anaya digs deeper, she finds herself unraveling a mystery intertwined with forgotten histories, local folklore, and truths that are far more dangerous than she ever imagined.
One of the book's greatest strengths is its atmosphere. The vivid descriptions of the Himalayan landscape, the monastery, and the surrounding village create an immersive setting that feels almost like a character in itself. Combined with the fast-paced storytelling and steadily unfolding mystery, the novel keeps you invested from beginning to end.
What I appreciated most was how committed the story remains to its central premise. Rather than allowing unnecessary subplots to overshadow the mystery, the narrative keeps its focus on the investigation while weaving in just enough emotion and character development to make the journey feel meaningful. The result is a thriller that stays consistently engaging without losing momentum.
I also enjoyed Anaya as the protagonist. She's intelligent, curious, and determined, but she's also grounded and believable. Instead of feeling like an invincible heroine, she approaches every discovery with a mix of caution and persistence, making her someone you naturally root for throughout the story.
Overall, When Mountains Remember Love is an atmospheric and engaging mystery that beautifully blends history, folklore, and suspense. If you enjoy thrillers steeped in local legends, hidden secrets, and richly immersive settings, this is definitely a book worth adding to your TBR.
When everything leaves you, what is your alternative plan? Mine is leaving all my possessions to be with the mountains. Mountain not just soothes me internally but is a profound source of finding myself in a new way.
Anaya has to go through several ordeals to be somewhere which embraces her with immense love and devotion. But life doesn't stop here providing you with more obstacles. After all the effort in the restoration work, her name is nowhere. She is flooded with painful failures and even finds restoration as an emotional entity. Her final home becomes none other than the Himalayan valley where someone is waiting for her. But other than Tsering, there are a lot more buried deep within that needs to be unraveled.
What worked for me is the part where the author clearly depicts the grim reality of humans. No one remembers the day you were no longer useful to them. We are just treated as objects in this universe. Anaya has no longer worth the day she had resigned from her job. All the efforts and sleepless nights have just been erased in a day.
In the epilogue, the author writes a river song titled The River's Song. The part that has touched my heart in the song is what the river says to the valley that is love doesn't leave the ones that it has kissed even if the snow fell and stones break, still hearts remember everything for memory's sake. I interpret this as the unforgettable effect of love that doesn't teach us to forget but removes things which are engraved in our hearts.
The QR given at the end, if scanned, can take the readers to the song written by the author. This feels like a complete tour with mountains and rivers. This book is a fine reminder of loss that doesn't always be treated as a failure and mountains as a source of solace and finding new beginnings in life. But the past can never be shaken off from the roots. Then, what would happen next in the valley?
My favourite line from the book :- “I came here thinking I was escaping something, only to find I was returning.” I felt that this line captured the heart of Anaya’s journey really well.🫰
Anaya, a mural restorer, travels to a remote Himalayan valley after being denied credit for her own work. She is looking for some peace and distance, but instead finds an old monastery wall that seems to hold a story of its own. As she begins restoring the mural, she slowly uncovers a forgotten love story, and things start coming together in an interesting way.🤞
What I liked most about this book:-was its atmosphere , the setting and the minute details. The mountains, the monastery, the river. The writing is poetic but still simple and easy to follow.📖
The characters felt real . Their emotions, relationships, and inner conflicts were handled well. The story is not very fast-paced, but it gives you enough time and your own space to understand the characters and connect.
I also really liked how the author explored the characters views and perspectives in detail without making them feel exaggerated or overdone. It felt natural and adding more depth to the story.
Another detail that made this reading experience feel especially personal was the QR code at the end of the book. Scanning it and getting to experience "The River Song" felt like such a thoughtful touch. It was almost like the story continued beyond the pages, and it made the ending feel complete.
Overall, When Mountains Remember Love is a slow, emotional, and comforting read about love, memories, finding yourself, and learning to accept who you truly are. If you enjoy literary fiction with beautiful settings, well-developed relationships, and stories where the past and present slowly come together, this is definitely worth picking up.
When Mountains Remember Love is not a story about loss. It is a story about what survives. About the kind of love that does not disappear when bodies do. Yes, you heard me right, it is about the love that does not disappear with deaths!
The story follows ANAYA, a mural restorer who wanted that her work should be acknowledged by the world and unfortunately due to her boss, AJAY that day didn’t came so easily. To overcome this chaotic life in Delhi she went to Rivervale valley and that's where her journey of self discovery began.
In her journey she uncover the secrets buried under fractured mural and also meet a woman called TSERING. You should definitely read it to find out how their story ends so no spoilers. But before that i would like to draw your attention on their characters to know better about them. Anaya's character was like a girl who is caught in self doubt & unanswered question, while Tsering presence felt like a warmth of sun. Both characters were intersecting in their own ways.
Specially the mountains & valley felt alive due to the writing atmosphere, which is making it easy to immerse yourself in the world that author has created. I especially loved how the story is balanced and was able to highlight the contrast between life in Delhi & life in mountains.
Also, another best thing about the book is how quotes were scattered throughout the story, which felt deep & was thought provoking. Lines that are going to stay with me : "River did not reward the stones it wore smooth. It simply moved past them."
And to sum up i would recommend you this book 100%, if you love Queer literacy, fiction romance, atmospheric setting & deep characters. Also, there's a scanner surprise waiting at the end for readers!
There are books that entertain you, and then there are books that quietly stay with you long after you’ve turned the last page. When Mountains Remember by Rheaa Noor was that kind of read for me.
From the very first page, I was transported to a secluded Himalayan valley where every mountain, monastery, and whisper of the wind felt alive. The setting is so beautifully written that it becomes more than just a backdrop—it becomes part of the story itself.
At its heart, this is Anaya’s journey, one that unfolds with quiet mystery, forgotten memories, and an unforgettable connection with Tsering. It’s a story that doesn’t rely on dramatic twists or fast-paced action. Instead, it gently invites you to slow down, sit with the characters, and appreciate every emotion along the way.
What I admired most was Rheaa Noor’s writing. The prose is lyrical, immersive, and effortlessly beautiful. There was something incredibly calming about the way the story unfolded. I found myself lingering over chapters, not because they were difficult to read, but because I didn’t want the experience to end.
One of the most thoughtful touches was the QR code on the final page, leading to the river’s song. Listening to it after finishing the book felt like stepping back into its world one last time. It was such a unique addition and a beautiful way to bring the journey to a close.
While I did wish a few moments had been explored in a little more depth, it didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed the overall experience.
If you enjoy atmospheric fiction, evocative writing, slow-burn storytelling, and books that leave you with a quiet sense of peace, When Mountains Remember is one I’d happily recommend.
Some stories are meant to be rushed. This one is meant to be savoured.
Some books do not end on the last page. And When Mountains Remember Love by Rheaa noor is one of them. What really worked for me was the beautiful writing. I absolutely loved how the setting was this nostalgic. It almost felt like you were actually there experiencing. Now let's talk about the main characters of this book. First up, we have Anaya. Her journey is all about reclaiming herself. She goes from this invisible girl to a confident and a totally different person who has a new purpose in life. She finds her purpose in those mountains where she also meets our second main character, Tsering. Now she is the quite opposite of Anaya's chaos. She is mature, quite mysterious and she is somehow connected to those mountains and their connection grows slowly, gradually and it just feels all natural to me, how Tsering helps Anaya find a purpose in her life it is all so beautiful it all connects back to mountains and the remembrance of love which is why it made this book and their bond feel so special I absolutely love this if you're someone who loves stories about love, remembrance and you know when there's this slow romance and all this nostalgia around you, I think this is the perfect pick for you.helps Anaya find a purpose in her life it is all so beautiful it all connects back to mountains and the remembrance of love which is why it made this book and their bond feel so special I absolutely love this if you're someone who loves stories about love, remembrance and you know when there's this slow romance and all this nostalgia around you, I think this is the perfect pick for you.
Some books tell a story. Some books leave behind a feeling. When Mountain Remembers Love belongs to the second kind.
At its heart, this is a story about memory—what we choose to preserve, what gets buried, and what refuses to disappear no matter how much time passes. When Anaya retreats to a remote Himalayan valley after being denied credit for her work, she is searching for silence. Instead, she finds a place where the past seems alive, waiting to be remembered.
What I loved most was the atmosphere. The valley itself feels like a character—quiet, mysterious, and watchful. There is a sense throughout the novel that the mountains know more than they are willing to reveal. As Anaya restores the monastery mural and uncovers hidden layers beneath it, the story slowly unfolds with the same patience and care.
The romance between Anaya and Tsering is gentle and beautifully woven into the narrative. It never overshadows the deeper themes of healing, identity, and remembrance. Their connection feels natural, carrying the comfort of something familiar and long forgotten. Rheaa Noor's writing has a soft, almost lyrical quality that pulls you into the world completely. The descriptions of the mountains and the monastery create such a vivid atmosphere that I often felt as if I were standing in that valley myself.
This is not a fast-paced book. It unfolds slowly, like a memory returning piece by piece. But that quietness is exactly where its beauty lies.
A thoughtful, atmospheric, and deeply emotional story about love, loss, and the things that refuse to stay buried.
Some books tell a story, while others create a feeling that lingers long after you have finished reading. For me, “When Mountains Remember Love” belongs to the latter.
Set amidst the quiet beauty of the Himalayas, this novel weaves together themes of love, longing, memory, and self-discovery with remarkable sensitivity. Rheaa Noor creates an atmosphere that feels both grounded and dreamlike, drawing readers into a world where the past refuses to be forgotten.
My favorite part of the book was the monastery mural restoration. As hidden layers of the artwork were slowly revealed, so too was a forgotten love story buried beneath years of silence. Watching the past unfold alongside the present made the narrative incredibly compelling and added a sense of mystery to every chapter.
At its heart, the novel is an LGBTQ+ journey of finding oneself, navigating desire, and coming to terms with who we are. Along the way, it explores the weight of memories, the comfort of nature, and the challenges of balancing personal truth with professional expectations.
A unique touch that elevated the reading experience was the QR scanner included at the back of the book. It leads to a beautifully melancholic song that perfectly captures the novel’s emotional tone, making the story feel even more immersive.
Gentle, poignant, and beautifully written, When Mountains Remember Love is a wonderful choice for readers like me who enjoy literary fiction infused with romance, mystery, and emotional depth.
"As though something inside her had turned slightly, aligning itself with a direction that did not yet require movement." - Lines from the book
About the storyline- The lead protagonist Anaya who is a mural restorer denied credit for her work, which hurted her sentiments, to find tranquility in life she moved to Himalayan valley, there she found a damaged wall mural as she started restoring it, she started discovery hidden secrets of the valley itself. Later on Anaya met Tsering and they developed a bond with each other that is gentle and emotional. This book will remind you that it is never late to return to yourself and to find yourself.
What I loved about this book- . It stays in your heart even after you done with reading it. . Book covers topics which feel heavy to talk about in such a manner that it will touch the heart of the readers such as the feeling when someone takes credit of our work, self-discovery etc. . Author described places in such a manner that it feels that we are the part of those places be it how she describes Delhi or Himalayan Valley. . Storyline is full of true emotions which can be easily felt while reading the book.
"Sometimes it meant becoming a vessel sturdy enough to hold what others had carried in silence." -an abstract from the book
In the stunning setting of a secluded Himalayan valley, When Mountains Remember Love skilfully combines love, memory, loss and self-discovery in an emotionally complex and dramatic story. Rheaa Noor transports readers to a realm where lost histories fight to stay hidden by crafting a tale that feels both personal and ethereal.
Anaya, the main character is a fascinating figure whose journey starts with treachery and sadness after she is not given credit for her efforts as a mural restorer. Instead of finding tranquillity, she uncovers a mystery concealed in an old monastery mural. The story develops with amazing depth and emotional resonance as she discovers its secrets alongside the silent and mysterious Tsering.
Tsering was the character I liked the most. He is fascinating and unforgettable because of his serene demeanour, quiet strength and strong bond with the valley. Every moment in which he appears has a feeling of warmth and mystery that enhances the story.
The slow repair of the monastery mural where each new layer revealed pieces of a long forgotten love tale was my favourite aspect of the novel. It's really fascinating to see how the past and current blend together.
For those who appreciate historical mysteries, evocative romance and emotionally charged writing, I heartily recommend this book. Long after the last page the story's eerie beauty lingers.
When Mountains Remember Love was a great engaging tale written by Rheaa Noor.
Anaya is the heart of the book. I was totally devastated by how it started when Ajay overshadowed her and her success. You can feel her pain, frustration, and loneliness from the very beginning, which made me root for her throughout the story.
Later on, when she travelled from Delhi to Afar, that's when it all started to change. Her journey felt emotional and meaningful, and watching her slowly rediscover herself was one of my favorite parts of the book.
Tsering's character is brilliantly and beautifully portrayed. He brings warmth, depth, and calmness to the story, and every scene involving him felt memorable. The dialogue is so good as well, simple yet powerful enough to leave an impact.
The mountain setting adds so much charm to the narrative. It feels alive, carrying both beauty and mystery. The avalanche scene is still in my mind....the way it was written was intense, emotional, and incredibly engaging.
The ending hits hard and stays with you long after you finish the book. Overall, I loved it. A beautiful story filled with emotion, healing, memorable characters, and a journey that feels both heartfelt and inspiring.
Some books are exciting while you read them, and some stay in your heart even after you finish. When Mountains Remember Love is one of those books for me.
The story is set in the peaceful Himalayas and follows Anaya, who travels there to restore an old monastery mural. As she slowly uncovers the hidden painting, she also discovers a forgotten love story. I really enjoyed how the past and the present came together, making me curious to keep reading.
What I liked most was the calm and beautiful atmosphere. The mountains, the monastery, and the slow pace of the story made me feel like I was there with the characters. The book also talks about love, finding yourself, memories, and accepting who you truly are in a simple and touching way.
The characters felt real, and their emotions were easy to connect with. The story is not very fast, but it gives you time to understand the people and their feelings.
One small detail that I loved was the QR code at the end of the book. Listening to the song while thinking about the story made the ending feel even more special.
Overall, When Mountains Remember Love is a beautiful and emotional read. If you enjoy stories with love, mystery, nature, and meaningful characters, I think you will enjoy this book too.
This book felt like a warm hug… but the kind you don’t want to let go of 💙
When Mountains Remember Love completely pulled me in with its soft, immersive vibe. It’s not loud or overly dramatic, but there’s something about it that just stays with you.
Anaya’s journey was honestly so satisfying to read. That quiet moment where she chooses to walk away and do something for herself? I loved that. It didn’t feel over the top, just simple and real.
And the mountains ✨ I swear they felt like a whole character on their own. Everything slows down in the best way, and you just sink into that setting.
Also, Tsering ♥️ There’s something so calming and comforting about her presence. The way she fits into Anaya’s journey and adds that quiet warmth… I really loved that. It just made the whole story feel even more special.
And the romance 🫶🏻 SO soft and comforting. No chaos, no drama, just something gentle that quietly grows on you.
Also that little moment towards the end 👀🎶 Such a nice touch!! It made the whole experience feel a bit more special and personal.
This isn’t a book you rush through… it’s one you linger in.
When Mountains Remember Love is a beautiful and heartfelt read. It is meant to be read slowly. Author’s writing is lyrical and gripping. Author has described the setting of the book, people, and places so beautifully.
The story begins with one character who does their work really well, but they become invisible to the world when it comes to take credit and praise for it. So, they decides to leave Delhi and retreats to Himalayan. They were seeking peace and silence, but instead of that, destiny unveils something else for them. They reach to a place when secrets and past refuse to remain buried and a monastery wall opens up something unthinkable for them. And memory, love, past, and mystery unveils intertwining with time.
What stood out to me is that Tsering and Anaya forms a bond and their connection makes them feel seen and heard. Past the valley, a monastery wall added layers of mystery to the plot and how the truth and mystery unfolded after that added a beautiful twist to the book. This book felt like an unforgettable journey, stories told in silence, and love that echoes across the valley like an ancient calling.
Imagine pouring your heart into a beautiful piece of art, only to have it stolen and all your credit wiped away. This is where Anaya’s story begins—but where it takes her is somewhere completely unexpected. When Mountains Remember Love follows Anaya, a mural restorer who pours her heart into her latest project, only to face a crushing betrayal when she is denied all credit for her hard work. Seeking peace and a chance to reset, she leaves the chaos behind and escapes to the mountains. Once there, surrounded by the quiet majesty of the hills, she discovers a profound sense of beauty and begins to understand the true meaning of her life. This is a story you have to let seep in slowly and calmly. If you enjoy books with vivid, immersive descriptions of natural beauty, you will absolutely love this one. It beautifully explores how the memories of our past shape our present, and how heartbreak can ultimately push us to find our true calling. Read this book—not just for the plot, but for the breathtaking way it brings the hills to life. And as a wonderful bonus, the very last page features a surprise QR code that scans to take you to a beautiful song about the river
🤍 Some books don't demand your attention with twists or drama they quietly find a place in your heart and it is one of them.
This isn't a fast-paced, plot-driven story. It's slow, gentle and deeply reflective. Every chapter feels like taking a deep breath, inviting you to pause and sit with your own emotions. 🌿
At its heart, this book is about healing, grief, love and learning to carry memories with kindness. One of my biggest takeaways was that healing doesn't mean forgetting. It doesn't mean erasing the people we loved or pretending the pain never existed. It means remembering with love, hope and acceptance.
The writing is absolutely beautiful. At times it reads like poetry at times like a warm conversation, and at others it quietly breaks your heart.
And then came the epilogue.
"The River's Song," written by Rhea Noor was the perfect ending. It was tender, moving and so beautifully written.
If you're looking for a loud romance, this isn't it. But if you're looking for a story that feels like a gentle hug and stays with you long after you've turned the last page, When Mountains Remember Love is one I'd wholeheartedly recommend. 🌿🤍
Some places don't just give you memories—they keep them for you. The Himalayas are one such place. This thought stayed with me long after I finished reading Rheaa Noor's - When Mountains Remember Love.
At its heart, this is a sapphic love story that follows Anaya and Tsering—two souls brought together amidst the quiet beauty of the Himalayas. Woven with touches of magical realism, the novel explores love, healing, memory, and self-discovery without ever losing its gentle pace.
What I loved most was how effortlessly the story flowed. The prose is simple yet evocative, allowing the emotions to unfold naturally. There are no dramatic declarations or forced moments; instead, the silences, the pauses, and the unspoken feelings carry just as much weight as the conversations.
One of my favourite surprises was the curated song by the author at the end. It was such a thoughtful touch that made the final pages feel even more immersive, almost as if the story lingered a little longer before saying goodbye.
In When Mountains Remember Love, Rheaa Noor delivers an emotional work of literary fiction that explores how love, nature, and memory survive in deep loss. Moving between the chaotic rhythm of metropolitan Delhi and the ethereal stillness of a secluded Himalayan valley, the novel beautifully contrasts modern professional struggles with a slower, soul-searching existence. At its heart, this is an LGBTQ+ story of self-discovery and longing. The author skillfully blends the past and present, weaving in and out through the symbolic restoration of a monastery mural to uncover layers of a long-forgotten love.
For me, however, what elevated the reading experience to something truly comforting is the interactive scanner at the back of the book which transports you to a melancholic song. I let myself drift and feel myself perched on a misty mountain cliff, perfectly mirroring the story’s lingering beauty. It is a heartfelt recommendation for anyone seeking love and healing.
One word that stayed with me throughout this book was overwhelming—not in a heavy way, but in the way it quietly fills your heart with emotions. Some books entertain you. Some books make you pause. When Mountains Remember Love is such book. 🫶🏻 The story follows Anaya's journey of finding herself, discovering love, purpose, and understanding why life leads us to certain places and people. The slow pace lets you truly live with the characters, making every emotion feel real. There were so many passages that made me stop reading just to admire the beauty of the writing. ✨💫🤌🏻 One of my favourite surprises came towards the end of the book—a beautiful poem, "The River's Song," accompanied by a QR code that takes you directly to its YouTube rendition. Listening to the poem while reading those final chapters made the experience even more immersive and memorable. A heartfelt, overwhelming, and beautifully immersive read for lovers of literary fiction.
Mountains Remember Love by Rheaa Noor, follows Anaya, a mural restorer who escapes to a secluded Himalayan valley after being denied recognition for her work. What begins as a journey in search of silence slowly unfolds into a deeply emotional story of memory, healing, hidden histories and a love that refuses to disappear. As forgotten layers of a monastery mural are restored, so are long-buried truths, making the mountains and the river feel like living witnesses to every emotion.
One of my favorite things about this book was its writing. It is almost lyrical and soo beautifully immersive, making every page feel like a quiet conversation with the mountains. The valley isn't just the setting, it becomes a character in itself, holding memories within its landscape. I also have to mention the dedication and introduction because they were absolutely beautiful. Before the story even began, they set such an emotional tone. Those opening pages instantly made me slow down and truly absorb every word that followed.
Another detail that made this reading experience unforgettable was the thoughtful QR code at the end of the book. Scanning it takes you to "The River's Song" by the author, and having the lyrics printed in the book makes the ending feel even more meaningful. It felt like one final gift to the readers, a beautiful way to stay connected to the story.
When Mountains Remember Love by Rheaa Noor is a beautifully lyrical novel that follows a heartbroken artist into a remote Himalayan valley, where she uncovers ancient secrets and finds a tender, soul-healing connection.. The book effortlessly blends elements of literary fiction, mystery, and a deeply emotional sapphic love story, showing how the things we try to bury never truly disappear. What makes this book stand out is its atmospheric, slow-burn storytelling and poetic prose. Rheaa Noor treats the breathtaking Himalayan landscape like a living character that breathes, holds memories, and quietly pushes the protagonists to face their deepest grief. It is a meditative read that trusts silence just as much as dialogue, forcing you to slow down and reflect on identity, healing, and what it means to reclaim your voice. The inclusion of a unique QR code at the end that links to a custom song adds an incredibly memorable, multi-sensory touch to an already poignant journey.
I didn’t know how much I needed When Mountains Remember Love until I picked it up, albeit extremely late.
When i met Anaya (the dmc), she was completely burnt out and retreating to a remote Himalayan monastery after her artistic passion was stolen and overlooked. She’s in a slump of her own (just like I have been for the last couple of months), trying to strip back the paint on a hidden, centuries-old mural to find the truth buried beneath it. That's where she meets Tseri (fyi, such a cool name) who helps Anaya find herself.
Reading @rheaa_noor 's poetic writing evoked a quiet, aching nostalgia in me for a place I’ve never even been to. And just like Tsering’s grounding presence helped Anaya heal and reclaim her identity, this book gently pulled me right out of my own reading slump.
Some books find you at the exact moment you need them most. I’m just so glad this one chose me.
When Mountains Remembered Love by Rheaa Noor is a beautifully written story about a woman who is completely burned out by her toxic work life. Seeking silence and a fresh start, she travels to a remote Himalayan valley. But instead of finding just peace, she begins to feel an unexplainable connection to the place. As the story unfolds, she slowly discovers who she truly is and how deeply her past is connected to the mountains around her.
The author uses beautiful metaphors to describe even the simplest emotions and moments.
What I loved most about this book is its message. It reminds us that life is not a race and that it is okay to move at our own pace. It is a story about healing, remembering, finding yourself, and choosing the life that truly makes you happy. It is emotional, thoughtful, and quietly powerful, and I am so glad I picked it up.
