For family meals in a flash, try Good Food 101 Simple Suppers. It includes recipes for Turkey and Wild Mushroom Fusilli, Lamb with Root Vegetable Crush or Roasted Nectarine with Ginger Crumbs.
BBC Good Food is a global food media brand, with a monthly magazine, website, app, live events and series of books. It has had four editors since launch: Mitzie Wilson, Orlando Murrin, Gillian Carter & Keith Kendrick.
I've had this book sat on a shelf for ages and barely looked at it. However having decided I need to shift a few pounds and in need of some inspiration to get me out of my mealtime rut I flicked through this and stuck post-its in the pages I fancied. The book is now bristling with page markers. I have tried meals from this book for the last couple of nights and have found they're not joking about the recipes being simple, even for a lazy cook like me. I've been realised pleased with my attempts too, tasty stuff!
One of my pet peeves about recipe books is the massive ingredient list full of things I wouldn't usually buy. Not the case here, and to simplify the cooking process the list sometimes includes ready-made sauces. Maybe a sin to the purist but a godsend to people like me who want to make good food in minimum time. For dieters it also helps that they give you the stats per serving at the end of the recipe, including total calories, satured fat and so on.
This is a compact little book and the only negative I can find is that you can't leave it open on the side while cooking, it just closes itself.
I love the GoodFood series because they are so simply laid out, instructions are easy-to-follow and clear, ingredients are listed simply, ingredients are easily found in a supermarket, every page is accompanied by a picture, they are jam-packed with loads of different recipes, sections are marked clearly, they fit perfectly on the shelf, and there really are recipes for everyone, all the family! I love this series and use the books all the time :)
