This book put me through the emotional wringer.

I definitely wasn’t expecting to tear up as much as I did, but Gia and Timothy’s story pulled me in from the start. Their chemistry was undeniable, and the romance was balanced really well with some genuinely emotional moments. The spice was also a definite highlight.

Gia’s journey was heartbreaking, and it was impossible not to root for her as she slowly found her footing again. Timothy ended up being the biggest surprise for me. After meeting him in the previous book, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about him, but he completely won me over. His kindness, patience, and unwavering support made him such an easy character to love. I also appreciated that their relationship was built on trust, honesty, and healing rather than unnecessary conflict.

I really enjoyed revisiting this family and seeing familiar faces again, and the veterinary setting added a lot of charm. The ending felt a little rushed, and I would have loved just a bit more time with Gia and Timothy after everything they went through, but it didn’t take away from an emotional and rewarding story.

I can’t wait to see where this series goes next.

Huge thank you to Zoe Forward and The Author Agency for the ARC! 😍 All my bookish thoughts are completely my own. ✨

After escaping from her abusive father and beginning a new life, Gia ends up back in her small town as a Veterinarian. With her sister dying from cancer and her first love everywhere she turns, Gia needs to navigate all of the changes in her life while finding the strength to be break free of her father.

The push and pull between Gia and Timothy was... okay. Their fighting felt a bit forced and honestly, inappropriate at times. I mean, truly Gia is a fantastic Vet yet she stripped out of her overalls in front of clients. With that being said, I did like both characters. Timothy was a big ball of anger but in a protective way, and I loved the scenes with him and Sofia. He was a huge softie when it came to his little girl. We also got to see Gia and her little sister, although I do wish we had more scenes with them.

I wholeheartedly agree with other reviewers that I didn't feel as if I missed any crucial information by not reading the first book, I wouldn't have even noticed that there was another book. Zoe Forward did a great job at connecting Timothy and Josh's books. Unfortunately for me, the story didn't pull me in as much as I thought it would. I didn't care too much for Gia and Timothy's HEA, their relationship didn't seem deeper than a friendship. We got to see a tiny snippet of their relationship from when they were teenagers but besides that, I didn't feel that their connection was as deep and passionate as it was made out to be. I wish we were able to get some more scenes of the two of them before Gia left. Then there is all of the other drama. By the halfway point I was just disinterested because of all of the side issues, Gia's dad is one thing but multiple other people getting in the way of their relationship was not necessary. A lot was packed into 300 pages.

One thing I did admire about this was all of the veterinarian jobs. Sometimes I find that authors will choose a career path for a character but do not add in any additional information. We really got to see Gia working and loving her job regardless of the dangers of working with bigger animals.

Honorary mention to Lisa Hurst because she is scary woman and got things done. Every woman needs a Lisa Hurst to back them up.

This is reminiscent of a Catherine Cowles book, I can devour her books but every once in awhile the plot just doesn't entice me or falls flat. I don't think this series is for me but if Jackson gets a book, I might just have to pick it up.

Thank you to The Author Agency for the opportunity to read this ARC, all thoughts are my own ❤︎

this had me bawling my eyes out like the entire time. besides the few spicy scenes, which were amazing, i was crying.

this poor girl. my heart just kept breaking. when i thought it wouldn’t get worse, it somehow did.

when i read the first book, can’t shoot whiskey, i wasn’t sure if i would like timothy. i reallyyyy liked josh. but i think i might just like timothy and this book even better.

timothy, the man you are. the love and compassion you have for everyone you meet is so heartwarming. one of the most selfless characters there are.

i was so happy to see how wonderful erika, josh, and vinny were doing. i hope gia and timothy continue to have a beautiful life too.

which maybe we can see in another book? 👀 i’m dying for a book about jackson 🙏

"If you don’t leave right now, I’m going to take you inside and—I’m going to erase the memory of anyone other than me.”

“I was surviving all these years you’ve been gone. Existing. There was work and raising Sofia. I was breathing in and out...Then I saw you again and realized what was missing...you"

“I love you...Not temporarily. Not until it gets hard. But always.”

One of the ways I know how much a book has consumed me is how much I highlight the quotes. Bad Decisions & Back Roads, by emotionally draining author Zoe Forward, has almost every page highlighted from this romance that nearly broke me.

Gia and Timothy are emotionally, and in Gia's case also physically, damaged teens that find one another. They hide their relationship because their families have been feuding over land for decades. Then Gia's father finds out about them and she runs away to protect Timothy. For Timothy it's a bad decision because though her father didn't break his bones she broke Timothy's heart.

Now 16 years later she's back to care for her dying sister and work for his brother in law at the large animal veterinary clinic. He's a single Dad, she's divorced and her father is still the vilest human being.

Reading this heart squeezing love story left me a bit broken but the writer also heals us from all the damage. Timothy and his family, especially his Mom, are the people we want to be real. The kind that fiercely protects and loves unconditionally at all costs.

TROPES:
Touch Her & ☠️
Second Chance
Single Dad
Forced Proximity
Obsessed Over Protective Alpha
Found Family

Journey down the winding twisty gut wrenching Bad Decisions & Back Roads and let this romance take you through a worth it all emotional ride.

You know the old saying of tension so thick you couldn't cut it with a knife? Well between Gia and Timothy, after 16 years apart, and a minor several decade old raging family fued between their families, the tension was stifling! Thin line between love and hate, especially with these two. Secret childhood besties, to now both divorced, ones a single dad, both got more scars to show the amount of time that's passed, will they manage to fight their way to a happy ever after?

The balance of story, drama, spice, smut, family and humor has been done amazingly in this book. It hits some heavy subjects but doesn't weigh it down, in the sense of making it feel a big black hole in the story when it doesn't need to be. Through the hard times there was plenty of laughs, even mention of a homicidal llama that I believe needed more attention 😂

Overall, this was a winner. I've never read any of Zoe's works before, but I'm so glad I've found her now. Not to mention I'm low key obsessed with the cover of this one too!

Thank you to Zoe & The Author Agency for having me for this ARC.

3.5⭐ | When I found out the second book in this series had Timothy as the MMC, I thought there was no way I would root for his HEA after meeting him in his brother’s book. But I was glad to be proved wrong!

Timothy is a man who carries the world on his shoulders. And while he still is a bit of an a-hole, you get some insight as to why that might be. When Gia returns to their small town after 16 years, it’s not so much sparks flying as flames igniting. These two have to fight for their HEA, and it’s not all sunshine and roses. But watching them try was a really enjoyable read. The side characters keep the story interesting and give the two main characters an opportunity to show up for one another.

Overall, this was a really enjoyable read.

📍 While not necessary, I do think the first in the series helped me enjoy this even more.

I was kindly provided an ARC, but my review is honest and completely my own.

This was truly amazing. Such a heartfelt and endearing story. This brought all the emotions and then some. Gia and Timothy stole my heart in this one. The fact that she’d left him behind because of an abusive father. But now she’s back working for his brother. When Timothy finds out, there’s so much emotion from him. This had my heart seeing them navigate things between one another. I absolutely loved this story and hope it flooded me with so many emotions.

Gia and Timothy were a couple I cheered for. Their past was sad and my heart broke for all they went through. Gia is strong and I liked seeing her start to hold her own again. I liked the Hurst family and the way they helped them with their relationship. The storyline was strong and I liked the characters. Overall it was a good story.

This book was not what I expected it to be! Gia was such a great FMC. The things she went through broke my heart for her so much. Timothy thought he would never see her again after she ran away from home because her dad was a bad man. Such a great romantic suspense book with a lot of emotions, spice, family, friendships and so much drama. Definitely recommend this one! 5 stars!

Such an adorable romance! Love the realistic look at vet life and the responsibilities that go with it. The tension between Timothy and Gia is great and the spice is well written. Every time I put this book down I found myself thinking about the characters and what was going to happen next. I would have read this all in one sitting if life didn’t get in the way 😂. I am definitely going to be reading more from this author!!

Exciting romance with spice, tension, danger, ...and laughs. The story kept me on the edge of my seat. The main characters are fun and sexy and the romance is believable. Love in the larger extended family is palpable and is a second love story on top of the main event. The setting of the story rings true and gives us all a look into the life of a large animal veterinarian. I highly recommend this read.
There are a lot of trigger warnings that should be added to this book. Cancer, physical and emotional abuse, violence, and abandonment.

Universal

Gia's back in her small hometown, the place where memories both wonderful and awful still reside. Her first and only love is here, too, and she knows she can't avoid him. She does and doesn't want to face him, see the man he's grown into, the daughter he now has. But she doesn't have a choice because her boss is Timothy's brother. She can handle him, right? What she can't do, is tell him why she left, or that she never stopped loving him, even though it's clear he hates her for leaving.

Timothy has never gotten over Gia leaving him all those years ago. He's spent those years telling himself he hates her, but tries not to worry about her, considering his life is full already with a daughter, multiple businesses, and fixing everything for everyone in their small town. Then she comes back and he's forced to confront his real feelings for her. Now he's determined to make Gia his again, even if he finds out what really drove her away from him back then.

I definitely was not prepared for all the heartbreak in Gia and Timothy's, especially Gia's, past. I wanted to give her a big hug more than once, but in the end, all that pain just made her a strong survivor. Without that strength, she probably could not have endured the years apart, or even some of what happened when she came back. I remember in Timothy's brother Josh's story (Can't Shoot Whiskey), not being very fond of Timothy, but here in his own story, I couldn't help fall in love with him as he and Gia found the forever they started all those years ago. I loved this second chance love story - it has so much heart and two loveable, relatable characters.

(⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5) A second chance romance win!

First of all, Gia. I love a stubborn bad bitch with some trauma & insecurity. I wanted to give this poor girl a hug, she was so real & relatable. It was incredibly hard not to love her. Second of all, Timothy. So steady & loving. He’s so down bad from the second she returns and his level of absolute need was amazing. I’m obsessed with a man who knows what he wants & isn’t afraid to show it. Every little crash out was so valid.

Sue me. I like a little bit of damsel in distress & a knight in shining armor and this lived up to that perfectly. I loved the progression of their story. The anger dissipated fast & turned into sweet chemistry so organically. Timothy cared for Gia so much, he could barely even give a solid effort to be mad at her. He saw her for who she truly was & knew just how to quiet what haunted her. I appreciated their ability to just be honest with one another. It was refreshing not to build out these conflicts that didn’t need to be there & have emotionally mature characters. Nothing truly felt out of character for them throughout the story & not once did I feel frustrated by a silly miscommunication.

Sometimes a second chance romance without a dual timeline can miss for me since I don’t get to see the love built up, break, & then heal again, but I honestly didn’t miss it on this one. I felt like the exploring of their past happening in present time was enough to build a background of how much they meant to one another and how much they truly cared for one another all the time in between. They did the best they could with what they knew. Shoutout to mama Lisa & papa Mason too for bringing in some well needed perspective to Timothy because he’s still *just* a man lol.

The ending was a touch rushed for me & I felt like Misty’s character got a little lost throughout the story. I did also wish the focus had been a little more on Timothy & Gia in the epilogue, they deserved a little more follow up to explore their growth over that time. Josh got 10 seconds too long & I wasn’t interested honestly. It seemed a little out of place, but a small criticism overall.

It was a beautiful read & I truly loved it. The plot was compelling & the MCs were actually so mature in how they handled their heartbreak & how they moved forward with one another. I appreciated the chemistry, the tension, & just the raw vulnerability of Gia & Timothy. It was such a sweet read.

Thank you to The Author Agency & Zoe Forward for the early copy 🫶🏼 It was my first read by this author & I am so looking forward to more. The emotional moments were so easy to connect to & felt raw, honest, & relatable. Any author that can make me feel that, is one I’ll come back to. Also, what a cutie cover.

"The problem with bad decisions is you never stop wanting them."

One of those stories that leaves you with the biggest smile on your face long after you've finished reading... and maybe a few swollen eyes from all the crying too.

First things first... I picked up this book because of that cover. WOW! It practically radiates passion. The way he's holding her says, "You're mine, and I'm never letting you go this time." Protective. Possessive. Intense... I loved it.

Gia and Timothy fell in love as teenagers, but their story was cut short... And then she comes back!

Timothy... Oh, Timothy. ❤️ Protective (sometimes a little overbearing, but only because his heart is so big), patient, compassionate, and fiercely loyal. He never forgot Gia... never. While he spent those years surviving, working, raising his adorable daughter Sofia, and simply existing, Gia was fighting battles no one could see.

After years of physical abuse from her father and emotional abuse from her ex-husband, Gia returned home to care for her sick sister, believing she wasn't enough. They had stripped away her self-worth, leaving her emotionally exhausted and terrified to trust love again. That was painful. But Timothy never saw her as broken. He simply saw Gia, the woman he had always loved; the kind, strong, resilient woman... and one of the best vets in the region! She was enough for him!

Their chemistry never faded. The banter, the tension, and the lingering feelings were written perfectly. Their journey back to each other was messy, emotional, healing, and so rewarding!

I also loved the veterinary setting. It added so much charm, warmth, humor and sometimes suspense to the story. As for Timothy's family, they are simply the best. They welcomed Gia with open arms, stood by her when she needed them most, and reminded me that family isn't always about blood; it's about the people who choose to love and protect you.

The romance is passionate and sizzling, but it's the trust, forgiveness, healing, and unconditional love that make this story unforgettable. Filled with heartfelt moments, humor, family drama, and a beautiful second-chance romance with a well-earned HEA, this book made me laugh, cry, and completely fall in love with these characters. This one is absolutely worth picking up.

When her father found out about her relationship with the town bad boy years ago he made it clear that she was to stay away from Timothy... so she did her dad one better and left town and never looked back. It saved Timothy her father's rath, but broke both hearts in the process...

Bad Decisions & Back Roads is a heartfelt story of first loves, forgiveness, healing old wounds and second chances. These two thought they had it all back in high school, but her father put an end to their chance at happily ever after before it really had a chance to start. He didn't want his daughter with someone from Timothy's family and he put his foot down, and Gia packed a bag and left town. Hoping it would keep Timothy safe from her father, but all it really did is break both their hearts...almost irreparably.

Now sixteen years have passed and Gia has decided to return home and make a life for herself all while trying to avoid the man she left behind. Leaving Timothy was the hardest thing she has ever had to do, but it was her only option at the time. He has no idea why she walked away, just that she did and it's something he'll never forgive her for...she lost her chance. Or did she?

Working for his brother she knows it's just a matter of time before their paths cross, it's both unnerving and exciting at the same time. She knows he moved on and is a single father now, but there is a little part of her that hopes that the boy she fell in love with all those years ago is still lingering in there too. It's a chance she is willing to take, but is he?

This first time read impressed on all fronts, it's words were heartfelt, it's characters easy to connect to and quite mesmerizing, and the story line captivating, to the point I found it almost impossible to let go of when bedtime called. I loved what I found between the pages here and I know if you give it a chance you will too! Highly recommend!!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

I love a second chance with dual timelines, and here we first meet our main characters when Gia is 14 (almost 15) and Timothy is 17. Their families harbor a generations-old feud, but they are drawn together into a reluctant friendship which then, over a couple years of meeting in secret, becomes more. But Gia's homelife is fraught with violence. With fear for her own life and fear of that violence touching those she cares about, she makes her escape at 16 and cuts off contact with Timothy.

Fast forward to present day, Timothy is 36 and Gia is 34. Fleeing a cheating and manipulative ex, Gia returns to her hometown to take care of her sister who is dying of cancer. She's now a large animal vet and has just taken a job at Timothy's brother's veterinary practice. Timothy is a single dad, struggling to balance maintaining his HVAC company while also managing his family's dairy ranch.

When their worlds collide again, all of the unresolved feelings are still there; now mixed with resentment and regret. But the dangers that tore them apart still exist and in fact, have only gotten worse. Not going to lie, there are some extremely intense and emotional moments and though the author handles them with the utmost care, please check the CW, especially if DV is an issue.

I've seen this author out and about in my bookish community of Charlotte, NC, but this is the first of her books that I've read. I was so excited to ARC read and now I'm kicking myself - why have I been sleeping on her stories?!?!? This one was so good! It had a plot that pulled you in from the very beginning, palpable yearning that tugged at my heart strings, complicated relationships and emotions that intensified the story, and a cast of characters that kept me invested and engaged. I'll definitely be back for more! This isn't a light read - but it's perfect if you need to get all up in your feels and experience that little ray of hope that only a satisfying second chance can provide.

What a gorgeous surprise of a book Bad Decisions and Back Roads turned out to be. This was my first Zoe Forward read and it certainly won't be my last. There was an honesty and realism to this second chance love story that had me in a chokehold. One minute I was laughing along with these well crafted characters and the next I was sobbing.

This is Timothy and Gia's story. They were once each others safe place. Until the trauma of Gia's family life forces her to make a clean break and runaway. Timothy never really recovered and his failed relationships prove his heart was always Gia's. Similarly she has been shaped by her experiences and has never been able to let her heart feel in relationships. She is not willing to risk losing herself or someone she loves. When life brings her back to the town she grew up in she is forced to confront the love she lost along with the abuse of her childhood.

I loved how these two characters are now adults with history and baggage and maturity. Their second chance is one of equals and with work to be done to accept and forgive. The hurt and damage for both of them isn't glossed over. They are dealing with real emotion in a mature and long lasting way. And not once did I doubt they were meant to be. You just have to take the ride with them while they work it out for themselves.

The spiciness was passionate and well written. These two are so sparky together away from the bedroom that their physical connection was always going to heat up the pages. There is a connection born from trust and security that allows them both to heal. I adored every page of this book and wish I could read it over again for the first time.

Bring your tissues; you're going to need them!

Gia and Timothy met when they were children, and all he wanted to do was protect her. Only, she ran when she was sixteen, and he never heard from her again. Now at thirty-six and thirty-four, Timothy's a bit lost, and Gia's finally back at home to take care of her sick sister. What neither was counting on was how strong the feelings would still be, or in the case of Timothy, how supportive his family would be, as she's from the 'enemy' family that's currently suing them. But one thing's for sure: Timothy will always be there to protect Gia when she needs it. So what happens when Gia's father sneaks up on her when she least expects it and does the worst?

Gia and Timothy get their happy ending in this standalone book in a series.

This book deals with many heavy topics, many of which are on page and in the present. Please heed the trigger warnings before diving into this book.

This book and these two! I loved how much better both of their lives got once they were back in each other's sphere, and even better when they got back together! I do have to wonder why the sheriff didn't try to do anything more recently, as it seemed like he was more on the side of the Hursts than Gia's family and maybe not in her father's pocket. Though if the sheriff wasn't called and the police still were in her father's pocket, that would explain a lot. I do have to wonder if the two plots of land were ever merged in the future to make things easier on everyone, or just to give the Hurst operation more grazing land.

I received an advance review copy from The Author Agency, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was a great second chance romance that was a slow burn that resulted in a really good read! This was the first book I have read from this author and it definitely won't be my last.

There has long been a dispute between the families of Timothy Hurst and Gia McClary and when Gia's dad threatens Timothy she knows she has to leave town to save him, even if it breaks both of their hearts.

Yet now she is back and working for Timothy's brother and the families are still feuding but Gia can't control what her heart still wants even if there are many problems in the way.

This book had so much emotion in it and you just grab onto the characters and you want them to get help and truly stay safe. This book definitely tackles some difficult issues and will not be for everyone yet the books completely pulls on your heart and breaks it a little in the process.

The book really had slow burn and you build up to everything and you get invested. There were many little twists and turns along the way that kept you on the edge of your seat praying that both the characters would get their happy ever after.

Gia had so much spunk and an incredible work ethic and she didn't put up with anything and that was definitely tested through the book. Timothy was a single father who loved his daughter and his family more than anything and worked really hard for all of them and didn't want to put pressure on anyone except himself. I loved his family!!

This was such a great book and I look forward to more!- Rebecca

Bad Decisions and Back Roads by Zoe Forward

"He's the kind of bad decision I need in my life. The kind that can promise to keep what they love safe. No matter what." - Gia

If you love second chance romances, you're going to want to add this one to your TBR. Gia and Rye are from feuding families. Despite this, they become friends as teens, and it develops into more. But Gia runs away, and they don't speak for many, many years. (There's a lot more to the story, but I don't want to spoil it.) Gia returns to her hometown to help her sister battle cancer, despite the danger she knows is waiting for her there. And since she is working for Rye's brother as a large animal vet, they see each other a lot. It seems they are always running into each other. The chemistry between them is 🥵, and they really do attempt to resist. But you can't resist what was meant to be.

I signed up for this one without having read the previous book in the series or any of this author's work. I AM SO GLAD I DID! I stayed up until 3 a.m. to finish this one because I could not stop reading. I had to know what happened. It's very fast-paced, slightly spicy, and the suspense element was perfect. Check the trigger warnings because there are several. I highly recommend this one! I'll be watching out for more books in this series. 🤞The twins Mark and Jackie get their own books!

I received an ARC of this book, but these opinions are my own. I would like to thank the author, Zoe Forward, and The Author Agency for allowing me the privilege of reading her work. ❤️

This was not the first book I have read by Zoe, but it was my first ARC from her. I loved this book! I hadn’t read the first in the series- they are more like interconnected standalones. I will still read the first book happily. The books keep me entertained, I love the veterinary connection- the way she writes the medicine is accurate for me, but accessible for others. This was a quick, easy read that wasn’t heavy- and I couldn’t have read it at a more perfect time. Thank you, Zoe! You did it again!
World- While this was a contemporary romance, the world is the one we currently live in...but it was also the veterinary world, which is my day-to-day and was well done!
Magic- No magic, but there was medicine. I appreciate the referenes and that it wasn’t purely technical, but it was accessible and realistic to the life of a mixed-animal veterinarian. SO well done!
Characters- I really liked Gia and Rye- they worked together well, and I appreciated their story. I loooooove Sofia. And the addition of Artax! Perfect reference and ending. IYKYK!
Romance- The chemistry between Gia and Rye was good- I didn’t feel like it rushed because of their history. The spicy scenes were well written and not forced.
Story- I loved this book! It was a good easy read with enough emotional drive to keep things interesting but I would still call it a palate cleanser. The story flowed well and didn’t drag on at all. I will read it again!

Bad Decisions and Backroads: Second Chance Veterinarian Romance is book two in the Southern Veterinary book series by Zoe Forward.

When they were teenagers Gia McClary 14, and Timothy Hurst, 17 became quick friends. Despite their families long standing rivalry. But when Tim decides to ask Gia to marry him because he sees the abuse she has suffered at the hands of her father. Gia, decides to cut all ties with Tim, for both of their sakes.

Now in their thirties, Tim is single raising his young daughter. When he accidentally slams his dad’s dog’s tail in the car door he must take Buck to the vet clinic. When he gets there he is confronted with the one woman he hasn't stopped thinking about since he was a teen. Dr. Gia McClary Stevens is back in town and helping out at Tim’s families vet clinic.

The moment their eyes meet they are transported back the feelings and the attraction that both of them have fought so hard to walk away from.

Will Tim reveal that he never stopped thinking about Gia all these years?

And what will Gia do with all the feelings that came flooding back the moment she saw Tim?

A wonderful slow second chance romance. This was a hard fight for their happy ever after, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! Recommend reading both books in this series.

*ARC REVIEW*

Bad Decisions & Back Roads by Zoe Forward is a second-chance romance. This book literally had me wrecked with emotion. I definitely recommend adding this book to your TBR. Before reading this book, PLEASE READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS!
I felt this story had a bit of everything: Drama, humor, found family, smut, spice, and it definitely explores darker themes. I was definitely invested from the beginning to the end. There was an incident with a homicidal llama; no animals were injured in making this story.
Gia and Timothy are the main characters in this story. As teens, they hid their relationship due to intense family rivalry. One day, Gia ran away to be never heard of again, leaving Timothy heartbroken. Sixteen years later, she came back as a veterinarian, primarily caring for farm animals at the veterinary center owned by Timothy’s brother. Their story was heartbreaking because both characters had suffered through trauma.
Zoe Forward captivated me right from the start. I became deeply attached to the characters and their romance, rooting for them from the very first page. Zoe Forward demonstrated precision and sensitivity in her depiction of the darker themes within her story. I will definitely be following you and reading your current and future books. I am happy to be chosen as an ARC through the author agency.

OMG this book had me bawling like a baby.

We meet Gia and Timothy as teens whose families are like the Hatfields and McCoys but on this case its Gia's dad who is the devil. Gia decides to escape the abuse from her father feeling bad leaving her mother and sister to take the brunt of it but it's either freedom or death. Fast forward years, Timothy is running his family businesses and raising a 3 year old daughter Sophia. His brother owns a vet practice in town and when he takes his dads dog there bc he was injured...he didn't expect the new vet to be the fave that has haunted him for years. Gia is back. Dr Stevens....vet and new divorcee who is only back to take care of her sister who's stricken with cancer. It's dangerous to be back her not only bc of her dad but hot damn Timothy grew up sexy. Battling past feelings and new feelings is hard for Timothy to understand and manage. But when he learns Gia's father is up to no good. He will stop at nothing to protect her but will it be enough? Lots of drama, deranged llamas, jealousy, uncovered truths and underneath it all...love. Great read!

Here’s a little introduction to the story that I know yall won’t be disappointed with, I know I wasn’t! Timothy stole my heart. Which yes happens a lot with all my book boyfriends, but this one was different. He and Gia were not perfect and had their struggles. But thank goodness they got their second chance!

❤️The problem with bad decisions is you never stop wanting them.
I used to be the rebellious girl from the wrong side of the fenceline. He was the local hellraiser nobody could tame. While our families carried on a feud older than indoor plumbing, we fell for each other.
Then my vicious father found out. To save Timothy's life, I broke his heart and disappeared.
Now over a decade later, I'm back as a large-animal veterinarian, working at his brother's clinic and treating everything from prize dairy cows to Timothy's homicidal llama. Avoiding him should be easy.
It isn't.
He's a single dad running two businesses, still infuriatingly irresistible, and determined to make me pay for every year he spent hating me.
The problem? I never stopped loving him. But if he learns why I really left, I could lose him forever.

I loved everything about this book. The writing, the emotion, the characters, and the plot.
From the moment I started the book, I could tell that I was going to enjoy this story. It started with so much emotion and unknown things that you just have to know.
When it came to the main character, Gia, you could really tell the trauma that she had experienced and how it deeply affected her. You could tell in the way she thought and the way she acted in certain situations. She had great character development throughout this entire book, and it was nice to see Gia come out on the other side of all her hurt and trauma.
I also loved Timothy, who is the MMC in this book. The way that he protected his family, his daughter, and Gia even after everything between them. The story between Gia and Timothy was so sweet, and to see them not only grow individually but also together was great!
This was my first book by Zoe Forward, and I will definitely be reading more of her writing. If you like a cowboy single day and a second-chance romance, then this is a good book for you, and you should definitely read it!

Grab the tissues because you are going to need them for this book, well, at least I did. I haven’t cried because of a book in a while, but this one definitely got me!

I’m not quite sure what I was expecting from this book, but what I got wasn’t it! This book had me from the first chapter. I did not want to put it down. I fell in love with this small town and these characters right away.

Gia has been through so much; it broke my heart! She continued to go through it throughout this book. This time, though, she had Timothy. Timothy thought he would never see her again. That she broke him, left, and never looked back. That was definitely not the case. They both had so much to work through in this book, both personally and together. They were able to do it, though.

I loved the epilogue; it gave enough of a peek into the future that it satisfied me. Do I still wish I had the rest of their entire life story? Yes, but that is a me problem. I am so hoping we will see them in another book?!? Maybe Jackson or Mark? I would really love both of their stories, but I am slightly more excited for Jackson’s story, hopefully!

I have a soft spot for second-chance romances, so Bad Decisions & Back Roads was right up my alley❤️

Timothy and Gia's story was such a fun mix of humor, chemistry, and heartfelt moments. Their history added so much depth to their relationship, and I really enjoyed watching them find their way back to each other. I was rooting for them from the very beginning.

Gia was easily my favourite character. She was kind, resilient, and someone I couldn't help but admire. Timothy was just as lovable, and together they made such an easy couple to root for.

I also really enjoyed the side characters. Lisa was an absolute sweetheart and added so much warmth to the story. And I have to mention the llama😂 It only had one scene, but it completely stole the show. I honestly wouldn't have complained if we'd gotten a little more of that chaotic energy!

Overall, this was a heartwarming second-chance romance with plenty of laughs, emotional moments, and characters that were easy to love. If you're looking for a feel-good romance with great chemistry and a touch of small-town charm, I'd definitely recommend this one!!

🔥 Burn Level: 4.5/5
🌶️ Spice Level: 3.5/5
💧 Emotional: 5/5

I wasn’t expecting this book to hit me as hard as it did, but wow… it completely caught me off guard in the best way.

This is my second book by Zoe Forward, and I continue to enjoy her writing. Even though this is Book 2, it’s part of an interconnected series, so I never felt lost while reading. It was great seeing another story unfold within the same world.

The story pulled me in from the very beginning, and before I knew it, I was completely emotionally invested. Timothy and the FMC’s second chance romance was filled with heartache, healing, forgiveness, and hope. I actually cried while reading this book, which doesn’t happen often.

I loved how much emotion was woven throughout the story while still balancing romance, family, and small-town charm. The veterinarian setting also helped make this book stand out.

If you enjoy emotional second chance romances with plenty of heart, this is definitely one to add to your TBR.

Thank you to The Author Agency and Zoe Forward for the opportunity to read and review this ARC!

Bad Decisions & Back Roads by Zoe Forward is a heartfelt second-chance romance that delivers plenty of emotion, chemistry, and small-town charm. The FMC Gia and MMC Timothy’s story is filled with past hurts, unresolved feelings, and the difficult but rewarding journey of finding their way back to each other. I loved the way the author explored forgiveness, healing, and the idea that sometimes the person you need has been there all along. The characters felt genuine and relatable, with flaws that make their growth more meaningful. The veterinary setting added a unique touch and brings warmth to the story, while the Southern atmosphere makes the book feel inviting and cozy. Overall, Bad Decisions & Back Roads was a sweet, emotional, and passionate romance about forgiveness, growth, and finding your way back to the person who always felt like home.

I received an ARC copy from The Author Agency. Thank you for giving me the chance to read this novel and share my honest review of the novel!
