Captivating Dystopian with a Familiar Backdrop!

I just read an ARC of The Sorting, and it immediately pulled me in, I couldn't wait to see where the story went. I loved that it’s a futuristic dystopian novel set in the Lowcountry; having that familiar setting paired with a premise that feels like a politically realistic fear made it especially compelling.

The world-building is fascinating, and I found myself really eager to learn more about the lore and how things ended up the way they are. The characters draw you in right away, and you really care about where they end up. While I personally prefer a bit more spice in my reads, it’s still a fantastic romantic storyline. Definitely recommended!

I love a good dystopian novel, and adding romance just makes it that much better. So when I received an early copy of The Sorting, I had high expectations… And truly, they were all met and some even exceeded. Lisa's brilliance in weaving a grammatical and philosophical web that parallels today’s time with her universe is unmatched. You can see elements of Divergent in this book, but honestly, it does have 100% originality as well, which, as we all know, is a hefty challenge. I highly recommend this book and any other book written by this author.

I’ve read the ARC copy of Lisa’s new series, The Sorting. The reader is pulled into this adventure in that takes place the distant future and shares the fears, passions, and struggles of Jayda and Arian. This dystopian journey of magical powers and mysterious pasts, starts out slowly and sizzles the way into their future, fighting against tradition as well as politics to live free and restore their birthrights. Can’t wait for the continuing drama and watch the characters grow and their relationships mature!

I received an ARC copy from Mrs. Graves and I'm leaving my honest reaction. Jayra's anxiety and apprehension over the Sorting had me on edge the entire way through. So I highly recommend this book along with Lisa's other fantastic works!
