WPC Diane Wren and PC Victor Rogers are dispatched to respond after a frantic emergency call reaches control from a terrified old woman: “He won’t let me leave.” Backed by paramedics and fire crew, they enter Blackthorn Hall; a decaying Somerset mansion criss‑crossed by narrow, suffocating tunnels, packed tight from floor to ceiling with decades of accumulated rubbish and junk. But something waits in the shadows. Mr Nobody, silent, unseen, unstoppable, hunts them through the claustrophobic dark. One by one, the group is picked off, trapped with no way out. Now Wren and Rogers must fight to survive the long, terrifying night, and uncover the horrifying truth of exactly what Mr Nobody really is… before he claims them all.
Summary: A call comes in: an elderly lady is trapped in her home, 'he' won't let her leave. Officers/firefighters/paramedics are dispatched to the scene. When entering the building, filled with rubbish and objects, they quickly realise that they are being hunted. They have entered Mr Nobodys home - and nobody leaves Mr Nobody.
Review: Speechless. This had me on edge, full-on chills! I loved this SO much. It creeped me out massively, which is really hard to do with how much I have read! Wren & Rogers - these two were such stand-out characters to me, whilst also breaking my heart. Disturbing, and so unique! This extreme horror is a must read!
Wow, this was awesome! As good as I expected, and even more! The first half of this novelette might be the perfect found footage horror movie: a couple of cops (constables, to be precise, since the story's in the UK), two paramedics, and three firefighters enter an old mansion, responding to the distressed call of an old woman inside; they discover the place is a hoarder's paradise, old newspapers, dolls, toys, and other junk filling the place to the brim; forced to crawl through the only available openings, they soon realize the place is a maze... and something's hunting them! By the book's second half, underlying enmities and awful past traumas rise to the surface, and things become dark ... very dark. The gore may be minimal (only compared to Allison's other books lol), but the triggers feel quite nasty and unapologetically brutal (implied CA, graphic SA, mentions of incest, plenty of violence). Still, if you enjoy cult classics such as The Hills Have Eyes (the original, duh), you're gonna love this! In fact, it reads like the claustrophobic version of a truly well-crafted slasher, with an opening for a sequel (one or more). And the twisty ending was extremely satisfying! Highly recommend!
ARC REVIEW I agree with what someone else said on another review, that this story would make an amazing slasher film. The build up and mounting dread is so well done. Mr Nobody is up there with the likes of Michael Myers. The book also manages to give a backstory as well which I love. Another amazing tale by Kelvin. Please do a sequel!!
When Di and her police partner receive a call to head for Blackthorn Hall, her childhood memories of a lost friend and the foreboding manor house coming flooding back.
An elderly woman is trapped; a hoarder, requiring all three blue-light services to respond. Their passage through the hoard is claustrophobic, the animosity between the emergency service workers injects ambiguity; their journey visceral and creative.
While Di was compelling, I was less invested in the other characters - the ex sub-plot didn’t really work for me. I particularly enjoyed the discovery of what had occurred in the house and would have loved this to have been expanded.
And you never know, this might just be the start and if so -I’ll grab Mine. What will you Nobody’s do?
Kelvin is usually one who puts out extreme horror, which I tend to enjoy. However, Mr. Nobody is a tamer book, but that's not saying much. It's still filled with brutal kills as the characters dig into the legend known as Mr. Nobody. However, this story also touches the subject of hoarding and claustrophobia. While I'm not entirely claustrophobic, I don't like small spaces much. That added to the scares in this one.
One of Kelvin's more creative stories, splattered with plenty of mystery. Great read!
MR NOBODY This may have beat boys in the valley for best book of 2026.
This isn’t your average extreme horror and really not even Kelvins average work. This was different in the best way possible. It’s not as extreme as his work can be but I found I enjoyed this more. Absolutely not being biased as there’s a character based on me but I was so excited to get this arc. I think I was practically begging kelvin for it.
In this novella we are following a group of emergency services after they receive a call saying “help he wont let me leave”. As police, firefighters and paramedics pull up the the delapadated mansion the place is in ruins and its clear to see a hoarder has lived here. For PC Diane this place is a distant memory having lost her friend here whilst running through the halls many years ago. As the team trudge through the mess left behind they become aware there’s someone watching them, there’s someone in the walls
This was insane. Such a good read. I think I’ve told everyone around me to read it when it comes out on July 1st! The plot twist alone makes it such a worthy read and at 88 pages its a good quick book to help boost numbers and if your in a slump this will fix that!!!
I’ve actually read this book twice in less than a week because of how good it is! #Mine #mrnobody #horrorbook
BOOK: Mr. Nobody AUTHOR: Kelvin V A Allison - author REVIEW: This book was absolutely brutal and unrelenting. This slasher is up there with the likes of Michael Myers! This had me feeling fear, dread, and panic; that's how you know you've written a great story! I had to sleep with the lights on, and was looking over my shoulder for a bit. I loved every single second, and from what I hear, we're possibly getting a sequel (we really need one)! Kelvin has a way of scaring you senseless, and this is proof! Thank you for letting me read this and scare myself, Kelvin! I can't wait to see what you write next! ❤
Blackthorn Hall a building steeped in mystery. An old lady calls the police saying she’s being held captive there. The early parts of this story felt like scenes cut straight from a gritty police procedural. The banter and wit. The house is insidious and this story quickly becomes a race for survival. I loved the dual timeline and format. It made the story immersive. This is a much more emotional story from Kelvin and the brutality of what ensues. I truly hated one of the characters making the horror even better! All in all a truly great story!
I received this as an arc in return for an honest opinion.
Wow Mr Nobody is scary.
Emergency services are called out to Blackthorn Hall to help an old lady who is being held captive. Go along their journey on this rescue but this rescue is not as simple as they think. This story considering it's a short story but holds so much and pulls you in. It's Horrifying and tense. I love that you learn the back story not just on Blackthorn but on characters too. This would be an amazing Found Footage film too.
I don’t like confined spaces, so not only did this book make me feel uncomfortable, it had me looking over my shoulder all the way to the end.
Blackthorn Hall is an estate surrounded by mystery until the emergency services receive a phone call about a woman being held captive there. Not knowing what to expect, the officers soon realise they have to find their way through dark tunnels, surrounded by junk. As if that wasn’t scary enough, they soon start being picked off one by one, leaving a trail of blood behind them.
Kelvin’s writing hits all the marks. It was like watching a movie where nothing was left behind. There’s romance, banter, jump scares, and a claustrophobic feeling that just doesn’t go away. Mr. Nobody ends up being about much more than one person. It’s about a society that keeps turning a blind eye to what’s happening around them, creating monsters instead of empathy.
So if you’ve never read anything by Kelvin, I’d say this is the perfect place to start.
It starts off fairly mundane - police called to a trapped woman with not much information. What follows would make a great movie (though I think Some of the best bits may get left out).
This is a great short story, I fully devoured it in one go. 100000% recommend
I was lucky to be the first to read this... What can I say. This is an incredibly well written story. I thoroughly enjoyed the storytelling. The way Kelvin delves into the history and the mythology of Mr Nobody is epic. The kills are brutal. The story is heinous. This is a story of everybody and Nobody. It might not be one of your favourite stories, but it will be MINE!
Holy crap!! Always recommend Kelvin!! Thank you for another great arc What a hell of a ride that was!! Not going to say much as I don’t want to spoil it for anyone! But the plot twist at the end!! Omg. Please check out this book and definitely this author! As he keeps knocking them out of the fucking park!!
Maybe not as extreme as previous novels but it does contain a fair bit of gore, but what a great story this is and once again proves that Kelvin V A Allison - author is a great author and very underrated
This is another amazing book by Kelvin! This book reminded me a lot of the 2006 horror movie See No Evil with the shock elements and the twists and turns. As I got to the end I was like nooo as this book I couldn’t put down or get enough of.
He painted such a vivid picture of the nightmare inside the house. I can see the tunnels as if I’m there. Really fun book and I hope the character Mr Nobody reaches film because he’s too damn scary not to.
OMG!!! What a wild ride👏🏻 I can absolutely imagine this made as a movie 🎥 Thrilling, terrifying, jump scares you name it this book has it. Loved the building suspense element as the story unfolded. Throughly enjoyed this was sad to finish 😈
