Tan now knows that a threat greater than Incendin exists, one he suspects will require ancient enemies to forge an uneasy alliance. He must use the control he’s gained over shaping to rescue a friend, protect the draasin, and convince the kingdoms of the true danger, or everything he knows will be destroyed.
There's a lot of annoying things about all these books. The main character being very stupid for one, even after 5 books. His ENDLESS stupid and pointless questions are a constant irritation. There's also a ton of repeating the same questions or ideas. Also he needs more editing. I haven't read any other books by Holmberg yet, so I don't know if it's just this series, but I sure hope his newer books are better because he does have what it takes to be good, he just uses way too much irritating fluff. This also makes for short books, which I'm not fond of
Another easily read book about Tan the 50 year old acting teenager. We follow his progress after learning why he was chosen and what is expected of him (save the Elementals from forced bonding). Tan is now extremely powerful, but since the magic isn't really that detailed, sometimes 1v1 is dangerous and sometimes 6v1 isn't. Yeah, he gets help all the time, but e.g. the most powerful draasin can barely win 1v1 sometimes. Also, the big build ups aren't handled well. Amin as the new Mother was done in half a page. Finding Elle and saving her was over fast too and they just moved on (yeah, there are several books about it, but the world isn't interesting enough). At least the final battle was farely long but again a very short aftermath. But we get a lot of questions from Tan to himself/the reader as a sum up of the situation. Its annoying and a waste of pages that have been used for inter character development.
I never know what to write in these reviews, so rarely leave one. That said, this says continued to grow with new and old faces. I am so hooked on these lands as well as people that I hope it will keep going at the same time I long for the ending....Go figure. It is well written with wonderful characters, a gripping plot and like everyone I find myself longing for peace in the lands. But then there would be nothing left to read!
I find this book amazing, I mean like DK holmberg is really good at making you think that one type of people are the enemy when in fact they are fighting another enemy for the good of everybody else even though they have evil magic and twisted fire. I really love it when you realize that 'oh my god Incendin isn't the real enemy, Par-shon is' I love the feeling when that happens and I can't wait til I read the next book and find out how Tan stops Par-shon.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This was my favorite book so far in the series. The plot has become so much more interesting with the introduction of Par-shon as an enemy, and the action was top notch in this one. Nobody is ever going to confuse this series for high literature, but it's just plain fun for those readers like me who love classic fantasy with tons of action and heroic characters.
Tan is the definition of a hero. Brave, smart, compassionate, kind, inconsiderate, and a good person. He stays true to those he loves (especially Amnia). He continues to grow in strength and compassion. Wonderfully delightful clean read with lots of action .
I've been really enjoying this series. It's building towards bigger and bigger things. I love the larger themes of learning from the past, understanding one's predecessors weren't perfect, and that people with whom you've had previous conflict are often still people, with motivations you may not fully understand.
… of books that are so stinking exciting to read, you get book captured and cannot put them down! I have read the first 5 in less than 5 days. The first is a little slow, but the pace quickens and by the time you have the second read, you cannot put them down!
Am loving reading this series of books but it was slow going to start.Once it got going i was hanging on to the edge of my seat.Look forward to seeing what happens in book six.
Very good. A few more errors than the last book. Sentences that need edited. Started actions or thoughts or questions that inexplicably drop off without conclusion. The strong story line carries the mistakes, though.
I can not say how much I enjoyed reading this series so far. This is developing so much better. Thank you for constructing this fantasy world. Though I am somewhat of a slow reader the imaginary you've devised is compelling to me.
It's unfair to you and to the author. I won't reveal anything anyway, but each piece of this story was designed to support the whole. This is great work, and when I finish the last chapter of it all, I will write one more review.
Most of my previous review of this series started with the word wow or at least with a hint of astonishment. In other words the first four books were more than great. Therefore Im not glad to rate this book with three stars, but it is my duty as a reader to inform you of my opinion of the book that I read.
If you are in this part of the series you should be enjoying the book, at least that was my case. I was surprised with this series and universe and characters and I believe this could be my new favorite author. The problems started with the fifth book. In such a long series I was definitely expecting more action that will encourage you to continue reading. Book five was not fulfilling my expectative that maybe are to much, but they are there for a reason. This book was just filling some gaps and if you asked me I will say that this should be included in book five or six not in an entire new book.
I completed the book in faith that it will get better and I will read book six just in loyalty of the series. If you were considering between dropping the series or continue reading I will say that you drop it right now. It doesn't get any better
Loved it! I have absolutely loved the Cloud Warrior Saga, the imagination of the entire series held my attention. It was great to just dive right into the story and get lost, in a very good way. That being said I move on to my thoughts on this series editing. Wait. I said I LOVED it right?? Some of my ratings on these books were four stars instead of the five stars it would have deserved, I will give you a few of the reasons why I think this. The first is editing errors, whomever the "EDITOR" is needs to actually read the books. My next criticism is about how not all the books are marked properly (in the synopsis portion where you read what the e-book is about) with the order in which to read them. Also whomever did that whole debacle with the books order sucks and is off the Christmas list. I unintentionally read a few books out of order due to this. Someone please let all these editor's know not to add in a book later, then call it book 2.5. Holding back such minimal content is annoying, next time put the books that are under a hundred pages together in one book. I would pay extra to have that little convenient option. My last complaint is that I have just downloaded book eight in this series which makes me sad because I do not want the story to end. I highly enjoyed these books, the short little books in the series were more like short stories but that is just typical for me as I read fast. I had hoped the books would get magically longer that what they last more than one evening. Also I will be copying and pasting this review to the other books since it is more of a generalized review, plus it was not a spoiler review either; hate those. Buying any of these books in this series is worth it the imagination of them is great and the adventures are awesomely lively, enjoy!! -rcc

He must use the control he's gained over shaping to rescue a friend, protect the draasin, and convince the kingdoms of the true danger, or everything he knows will be destroyed. Fire is the eldest elemental, but an enemy known as the Uti Tonah is a human with strength that rivals Tan or perhaps is greater. Cloud Warriors from three kingdoms along with massive numbers of elemental battle to a near victory. But more is to come! These books are addicting, spellbinding, thrilling and thoroughly enjoyable! I have read five of the seven in the "Cloud Warrior" series and have never been disappointed! One of the best fantasy series I have read. The writing is excellent and the characters are well developed. It is hard to put down. I especially love seeing the development of the main character from a naive young man to a wise warrior. The series is also different from the usual Dragons and typical magic instead power comes from nature called elemental. I would give this series 10 stars if available. Great, Great Reading!
I didn't and haven't looked at the page count of this book. That said, this book felt shorter than the previous books in the series. Either that, or the other books I've read recently were just long by comparison. I've very much enjoyed this series so far.
SPOILERS Very good continuation. The end felt very quick and partially forced in some aspects. a foe so powerful that nothing seems to hurt him... I'm not sure how Tan is going to be able to defeat him. But there seems to be at least 2 more books to come.
I was excited when I started this series but not as much now. The book seems to now be following a predictable trend for the series. At the beginning of the series, I liked that there was interaction with the non-magic world, but as the books have progressed there is a disconnect. What is interesting is the development in how bonds are formed. There is a question about how the ancient information was lost and there is also a question of how things will end up, so of course I will continue reading the series.
I usually read sci-fi, but I love fantasy as well. The problem is, I have a very high standard for fantasy, and I don't always get into a fantasy book unless the world is well crafted and holds itself together. This series has definitely drawn me in and I can't wait for the next entry.
This book never stops to let you catch your breath. Tannen is just coming into his own power by working with the elementals. The next book promises to be the one where he finally gets his full power. I can't wait.

Really enjoying these books. It's gonna cost me an arm and a leg for the whole series and all the other books by DK Holmberg. But hey :O it worth it just to be able to escape into a world that's my time to chill and relax
