The stars are vanishing, each phase of the moon highlighting an undeniable truth---Lorelia Floratrix, elven princess of Aeldrynor, was going to die.

The darkness devouring the night sky heralded the return of Abadonis, a bloodthirsty god with an insatiable desire to lay waste to the realm. And according to the prophecy that dictated her fate, there was only one individual that could stop him.

Her.

But Abadonis is not the only threat. Chasms with seemingly bottomless depths are forming in the Surface, and when Lorelia is inexplicably drawn to one, she isn’t sure what to expect. She certainly didn’t anticipate falling into its depths and landing directly in a lost kingdom.

The Netherdark is a mystical realm, filled with glowing fungi, glittering crystals, and creatures she couldn’t conjure even in her wildest dreams. But appearances can be deceiving – now the Netherking’s prisoner, Lorelia fears that she may never feel the sun’s warmth again.

Unfortunately, that’s the least of her worries. Something is stirring deep within the abyss, and when it awakens, no one will be safe from its wrath.

With no other options, Lorelia forms an alliance with Malakai Gloomwalker, the Prince of the Netherdark. Together, they discover an ancient prophecy hidden beneath a century of deceit. With each thread pulled, the tapestry of lies unravels, revealing a twisted tale of desire for power and lust for revenge.

Lorelia is forced to make a decision – face her shadows and embrace her destiny or doom the realm to an eternity of darkness. But as the truth comes to light, Lorelia’s feelings for the prince only grow murkier. In a world built on falsehoods, can she truly trust her heart?

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ WHAT A DEBUT!
I absolutely loved this book. It captures fae magic so well, never letting you forget you're in a fantastical world. The world-building is vivid, imaginative, and completely immersive, making every page a joy to read.
The story flows effortlessly, and I especially loved reading an FMC who was powerful, competent, and endlessly compelling in a world where women aren't valued. I found myself desperately rooting not only for her to win, but to leave absolute devastation in her wake.
While this works brilliantly as a standalone, it also lays the foundation for what I hope becomes a long-running series. This world is far too rich and fascinating to leave behind, and it would be such a waste not to tell more stories within it.
I'll be reading everything this author writes from now on, and I genuinely hope this review convinces someone else to pick up this book. It's an epic adventure from beginning to end—and it even inspired me to buy a practice sword and start learning a few moves myself!

I really enjoyed Realmweaver! It was written so beautifully it felt very whimsical with details I can picture throughout.

I felt the world building & story plot to be wonderful and I loved the characters. The creatures were so creative and perfectly made for a world of Elves, Faes and a dragon shifter! The stakes were high, the romance had a great amount of tension and sweetness and the ending left me wanting more!

This was a quick, fast-paced read! I enjoyed the characters and the world. The magic and the Netherdark were amazing. The Netherdark sounds absolutely beautiful! This was a very immersive read. It was easy to picture these characters and this world. The characters were good. There was some amazing disability rep. I loved reading about Lorelia's journey and her learning to believe in herself. Malakai was a big green flag. I'm a sucker for dragon shifters and I think his character ended up being my favorite.

My biggest issue what that everything feels like it's lacking depth. I found myself wanting more. This was very fast-paced, to the point of feeling rushed. Conflicts are introduced and solved with in a matter of pages. Characters are accepting these big revelations so easily. There's no time to really sit with anything. There's also a few times that Lorelia comes off as much younger than she is.

Overall, I think this was a great starts to a series. This feels like it would be perfect but someone new to the romantasy genre. It's got a whimsical underground world, magic and two heirs fighting against their parents and a shadow god. Thank you to Rattle The Stars PR and the author for my early copy!

I had the pleasure of receiving this as an e-ARC and voluntarily will be giving my honest review. This is a debut novel and it did not disappoint! The world building and character build up was phenomenal!! You could feel all the emotions these characters felt like you were there with them!! This book was well written and can’t wait to see what else this Author has in stored for us!!

“Lorelia is forced to make a decision—face her shadows and embrace her destiny, or doom the realm to an eternity of darkness. But as the truth comes to light, Lorelia’s feelings for the prince only grow murkier. In a world built on falsehoods, can she truly trust her heart?”

Thank you to the author for gifting me an ARC of this story!!

There is so much potential here, and I genuinely enjoyed my time in this world. In fact, my biggest criticism is that I feel like the book should have been longer. Not hundreds of pages longer, mind you, but perhaps another 50 pages or so.

Let me explain.

The worldbuilding is, without a doubt, my favourite aspect of this book. The author absolutely nailed the atmosphere, and I felt completely immersed in this world. The descriptions are vivid and tangible, making it easy to picture the places and creatures as though I were actually there. And speaking of creatures, this world is FULL of them! Some are absolutely horrific and gave me the creeps, which I loved, while others made me want to adopt them immediately 😍😂

Although the geographical area explored in this instalment is relatively limited, I think this works perfectly for the first book in a series. The author takes the time to establish and explore the area thoroughly, allowing the reader to become familiar with it. And just when I thought I had a reasonable idea of the world’s scope, the story hinted at how much more there is to discover. I’m already incredibly curious to explore more in the next books!

The magic system is another positive aspect for me. The fundamental explanations are there, so I never felt confused about how things work, but it’s clear that there’s much more to discover than either the reader or the characters currently understand. I actually appreciated this balance. I don’t need every mystery explained in the first book, especially when it’s clear that the author intends to explore these elements further in the sequels. For now, I’m satisfied with what we’ve been given, and I’m excited to learn more.

As for the characters, I quite liked our FMC and found her relatable, particularly given the enormous pressure she’s under. Having the fate of the world resting on your shoulders is hardly an ideal situation, and she handles it reasonably well, all things considered.
She’s very prone to assuming that if something can go wrong, it absolutely will. She sometimes jumps to conclusions, particularly when the MMC does something she doesn’t understand, and seems to settle on the possibility of betrayal before giving him the chance to explain himself. Initially, her distrust makes sense given the circumstances in which they meet, but as the story progresses, I occasionally found myself wondering why she was still so quick to assume the worst. She’s also a bit of a crybaby at times 😂
That said, I appreciate that she isn’t a flawless heroine who handles every difficult situation with unwavering confidence. She has moments of weakness, anxiety, sadness, and frustration, and while some of her reactions tested my patience, they also made her feel more human. I wouldn’t say she becomes an entirely different person by the end, but she does take steps towards becoming more capable and makes choices she wouldn’t have been ready to make at the beginning. Her growth feels gradual, which I appreciated.

Now, onto the MMC.

This man is practically perfect. He’s charming, sexy, strong, caring, understanding, and just. He stands up for what he believes in, has his own trauma and vulnerable moments, and gradually opens up to the FMC. Their emotional vulnerability is reciprocal, and I enjoyed seeing them learn to trust each other.

My problem? I genuinely struggled to identify a single flaw in him that meaningfully affects his behaviour or his relationship with the FMC. He’s almost endlessly patient and understanding with her. Even when she jumps to conclusions or misunderstands his actions, he rarely seems genuinely frustrated with her.
I enjoyed their banter, teasing, chemistry, and heartwarming moments. They’re cute together, and I liked reading about them. I don’t think their feelings develop too quickly, either. They’ve been through difficult experiences together, and I can absolutely believe that sharing those experiences would accelerate their emotional connection.

However, I wish their relationship had a little more friction. Two people can care deeply about each other and still disagree, unintentionally hurt each other’s feelings, or struggle to understand one another. Those moments don’t have to undermine their connection. They can actually make it feel more believable and give the characters opportunities to grow together.

Here, the FMC’s flaws sometimes create tension between them, but the MMC’s patience and understanding tend to smooth things over before disagreements have much time to develop. At the same time, his own imperfections don’t seem to create comparable difficulties in their relationship. As a result, their dynamic sometimes feels almost too perfect.

And this brings me to what I think is the main weakness of the book: the way it handles tension and conflict.

The pacing is generally good, and I enjoyed the direction the story took, even though there weren’t any particularly shocking revelations or major plot twists. I didn’t need them to enjoy the book, and I was invested in finding out what would happen next. The writing style also made the story easy to follow, and there were moments when I was so immersed in what was happening that I could genuinely feel my heart pounding.

However, in my opinion, both the romance and the wider plot could have benefited from allowing certain conflicts to unfold for longer. The author introduces situations with the potential to be emotionally powerful, suspenseful, or challenging, but they are often resolved before they can fully develop. I wanted to spend more time in those moments, experience the tension, and see how the characters navigated the difficulties rather than moving on almost as soon as they appeared.

There are a few scenes that illustrate this particularly well.

For example, there’s a training scene in which the FMC and her trainer go to a beautifully described underground cave. I loved the idea of seeing her train, and I genuinely appreciate it when authors show their characters working to improve their abilities instead of simply telling us that they’ve spent the morning training.
But she throws two spears, misses the target both times, and then the scene becomes entirely about conversations concerning the magic system and the MMC’s magic. Eventually, after what seems like no more than 30 minutes, they leave the cave and return to the castle, and the training is over.
I remember thinking “What was the point of that?” 😂
I don’t need to witness every training session in its entirety, and I certainly don’t want pages of repetitive descriptions of someone throwing spears. But when an activity is established as the focus of a scene, I’d like it to feel like a genuine part of the narrative rather than simply providing a backdrop for exposition.

Another example is when the FMC goes to the dungeons. She seems to get there almost instantly, and there’s no mention of guards or any effort to avoid being seen. Now, I’m not saying she necessarily should have encountered difficulties. It makes sense that she could access the dungeons without running into trouble. But surely there would be some guards to account for? Even one sentence explaining how she managed to get there unnoticed, or mentioning guards looking at her curiously, would have made the scene feel more believable.

Similarly, towards the end, when the main characters find themselves in a sticky situation, everything is resolved relatively quickly. Given the circumstances, I would have loved to see that tension and conflict explored in greater depth.

I honestly think another 50 pages could have made a significant difference, giving certain scenes, conflicts, and relationships the room they needed to reach their full potential, provided that extra space was used to develop the existing material rather than simply add more content.

The ending of the book felt quite abrupt, but honestly, I don’t mind it. It’s clear that the next book will pick up from that exact point, so I understand why the author chose to end the story there. I’m certainly curious to find out what happens next, and I’m glad the book left me wanting more.

Despite my criticisms, I want to make one thing clear: I genuinely, REALLY enjoyed this book. I loved this world, I cared about the characters, I was invested in their relationships and in the direction the story was taking. I wanted to spend more time with them, explore more of their world, see their relationships develop, and experience the full weight of the challenges they faced. In fact, my criticisms ultimately come down to the same thing: I simply wanted MORE.

More time for certain scenes to unfold, more room for conflicts to develop, more opportunities for the characters and their relationships to grow. Not because I wasn’t enjoying what I was reading, but because I was enjoying it so much that I wanted the story to give me more of it.

I think this book had the potential to be even more impactful, and that’s why I wish it had been a little longer. The worldbuilding and atmosphere are outstanding, the magic system has plenty of room to grow, and I’m genuinely excited to discover what comes next.

I’ll absolutely be picking up the next book! 🔥

"WHAT A FUN WHIMSICAL READ! IMMERSIVE WORLD BUILDING WITH PLENTY OF• INTERESTING CHARACTERS. AS A LORD OF THE RINGS FAN I APPRECIATE THE AUTHOR BUILDING A WORLD WITH UNIQUE CREATURES AND ENVIRONMENTS. IT WAS VERY DETAILED AND FELT NATURAL.
PLENTY OF BACKSTORY AND TRAUMA FROM OUR MAIN CHARACTERS GIVING MORE DEPTH TO THEM IN GENERAL.
I REALLY ENJOYED BOTH FMC AND MMC SORELIA AND MALAKAI AS THEIR RELATIONSHIP GREW. THE BANTER BETWEEN THE TWO WAS ENJOYABLE. I ALSO ENJOYED THE SIDE CHARACTERS, AXEL BEING MY FAVORITE.
OVERALL FUN READ FOR ANY ROMANTASY READER.
I REALLY HOPE THIS AUTHOR CONTINUES ON, IF THIS TURNS TO A SERIES, I WOULD DEFINITELY CONTINUE WITH THIS STORY.

Thank you to L.K. Witt and Rattle the Stars PR for sending me Realmweaver in exchange for an honest review.

This is one of those books where I really liked the ideas, but I wasn’t completely sold on how everything came together.

Lorelia is an elven princess with a prophecy hanging over her head—the stars are disappearing, an ancient god is returning, and apparently she is the one destined to stop him. Then she falls through a mysterious chasm and ends up in the Netherdark, a strange underground kingdom where she becomes tangled up with its prince, Malakai.

The Netherdark was probably what intrigued me most. Glowing fungi, crystals, strange creatures, hidden kingdoms—there was so much potential here! I also really liked the magic system and Lorelia herself. Watching her grow into her abilities and become more confident and assertive was one of my favorite parts of the story. And, of course, enemies-to-lovers with a “he falls first” situation will usually get my attention.

Where Realmweaver lost me was around the halfway point. From there, it felt like the story suddenly hit fast-forward. It almost gave me the impression that this started as a standalone and somewhere along the way became the beginning of a series. New plot threads, prophecies, secrets, romance, gods, kingdoms, and conflicts kept piling up, but not all of them felt fully polished or connected.

I actually wish this had been a longer book. Giving the world, characters, and individual plotlines more room to develop could have made a huge difference for me. Instead, by the end, I was struggling a little to stay invested because there was so much happening without enough time to really sit with any of it.

So, this lands at 3 stars for me. There are pieces of Realmweaver that I genuinely enjoyed, especially the magic, Lorelia’s growth, and the concept of the Netherdark. I’m still undecided about continuing the series, but I hope the second book settles into the world a little more and has smoother, more consistent pacing. The foundation is certainly there—I just wanted more time for all of those interesting ideas to come together.

I an grateful to have received this as an ARC reader but as always, my thoughts are my own... thank god.

First off - this was really hard for me to rate because I did enjoy it. The book itself and the story are good - with very familiar fantasy elements, good characters and world that is VIVIDLY beautiful. HOWEVER, I felt like there was just something, MISSING. And I believe that what was missing was strife, hardships, and the speed in which everything was resolved.

For me that meant that the pacing felt extremely fast with quick transitions and very little details about the movement and travelling. For some this will be a refreshing change - less pages to read about how the main characters get from A to B or the moments of downtime after events.

This book is a great choice for readers of easy fantasy that borders on cosy, for those who love gorgeous dresses, lots of loving yearning with a little bit of spice. As the series develops i hope that this develops into a more meatier fantasy that puts me on the edge of my seat - but for now, a nice, easy read with a beautiful setting and recognisable magic.

WHAT I LIKED:
1) The Netherdark - the world descriptions were breathtakingly beautiful and was a world I desperately wanted to be in - and younger Bex agrees. A world where sparkly things is normal? HELL YES!
2) The Fauna/Flora - no spoilers but there were a few interactions that I loved. Even the menacing monsters
3) Fern, Anika, Visus, Axel - these characters deserve more page time IMO.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE
1) The Romance - there came a moment, somewhere around the halfway mark where Lorelai flipped like a switch - from hate and distrust - a healthy caution for Malakai and everything Fae - into quite the thirsty girl who suddenly loved him. This was jarring and (to me) felt disconnected. There seemed to be no reason for this other than a bond.
2) Shallowness - being book 1 I can forgive the lack of details and the such but it feels like not one of the characters got much development in this book and I HOPE that this gets addressed in books 2 and onwards.
3) LACK OF CHALLENGE - I have NO problem with the events in this book, they make sense for the story and the progression of saving the world. But the challenges the heroes face throughout are minimal with quick resolutions, no lasting consequences and very little to them.

Overall this book was a great entry into the fantast world with so much potential to grow intp something strong.

It's actually a 3.8 stars!

In my head, after reading it, Realmweaver is a sort of fictional history, if I may say so, that treats the repeated punishment of the people on account of one or more bad rulers. We have the heirs of two nations revolting against their parents in their righteous fight for justice, freedom and peace for the people.

It was a good romantasy, with a rather smart and very enjoyable worldbuilding, with very interesting characters, in nature, description and behaviour. The plot is linear, but sprinkled with “side happenings” that strengthen the direction of the action as well as the relationship of the characters. We encounter a lot of super smart details regarding the world of the characters (which are also very biologically accurate! See: the spores in the field of the dead, FMC’s freckles which react to her feelings), we have many instances of funny dialogue and scenes, as well as wonderful plot twists and tremendous advice disguised as a good metaphor (“Ether is less inclined to cooperate if the weaver is fractured”)

There is trauma in the background of the main characters, which gives them a little more depth, although I would have appreciated a bit more of this.

Even though I am a big fan of cliches and I generally like to encounter them in books, I think they were a little too many and/or too obvious in Realmweaver, especially in the beginning of the book. I’m talking about one of the antagonists who is being way too biased the first time we meet him. Even if he is not the love interest and is only forced down the FMC's throat, I wish he was more of a character of his own, not only an antagonist. This changes toward the end of the book, where he receives more light in the story, though. There were other cliches as well, but those I could get behind of, as they were nicely put, especially for those who absolutely love the romantasy genre.

The few aspects I did not particularly appreciate are:

- The commander, FMC’s childhood best friend, who is utterly in love with her since forever, accepted her explanation of her disappearance and of her devotion and love to another far too easily. I understand he loves her unconditionally and wishes what’s best for her, but I feel like it would have been worth it to have more tension, more sorrow, and more discussion between them on the topic
- Felt like the ending was too rushed. I should’ve realised the book wasn’t a standalone, though I don’t remember hearing about it being a series. Nevertheless, the ending remains too rushed. The scenes are short; there’s less narrative description compared to the rest of the book, characters change their minds unexpectedly (see: King Floratrix), months-long plans are dissolved as it doesn’t matter the effort put into it, entire new characters appear with a full-on lore, but we’re not being told much. Feels like info dumping, and it’s a bit hard to follow after being used to other lore up until now.
- The visual love scene was too visual. This might be an entirely subjective opinion, as it instantly made me think of online +18 fanfiction. Although to some extent the action and dialogue in the scene were fitting for the characters’ relationship and their natures (elf and fae, as they are portrayed), it still felt a little too much by comparison with the rest of the book. Personally, I would have liked this scene to happen a bit earlier in the book, not just before the doomsday when the main MMC showed up.
- Main MMC showed up for two seconds, wasn’t as scary as promised throughout the book, and only left us with a hundred questions for the next book.

I absolutely loved the following:

- loved the prologue. so intriguing! had me envisioning a dragon speaking to a girl. i was SAT
- FMC's best friend is a commander, not a peasant, which makes him a very importantND USEFUL character in the story. loved this from the first pages
- L.K.'s idea of having FMC's freckles light up at intense emotions was chef's kiss
- I love the two handmaidens SO MUCH
- i was so caught by the idea that FMC'S ability to weave starlight increased beneath the Surface. well done with this. and the explanation that followed satisfied 100%
- the tinkerbell sort of reference with Shimmerwind was absolutely adorable. (speaking of this, l.k. describes very well. I was actually able to imagine all the scenes. I appreciate that a lot)
- i was very happy that FMC didn't learn too fast that MMC and the dragon were the same being. and I devoured the scene when she learns. very well done on that one, again.
- one has to be funny to make characters funny, therefore my conclusion is that L.K. is very funny   the blind jokes, the living under a rock jokes, the sarcasm and the retorts? super funny
- I lost it (in a good way) at the obvious character development of FMC with the "I love you and I'm going to save you now". After which SHE DID

Despite the “negative” aspects, which are not actually negative, but I believe are mostly subjective (again, I don’t usually read romantic but I was very curious to read this one based on the online promo for it) Realmweaver is a nice read, and I would recommend it for romantasy lovers, who love a strong FMC who knows what she wants and would not submit just because she’s scared.

I absolutely loved Realm Weaver! From the very first pages, I was completely drawn into the world L.K. Witt created. The world building is fantastic, full of danger, mystery, and wonder in equal measure. Both the above ground and below ground settings felt vivid and unique, and I genuinely looked forward to discovering more of this fascinating world with every chapter.

The magic system was another highlight for me. It felt fresh and original enough to stand out from other fantasy books, while still being intuitive and easy to understand. I never felt bogged down by complicated explanations, which let me fully enjoy the story and the characters.

And speaking of characters, I adored them. Lorelia is exactly the kind of protagonist I love reading about. She is fun, capable, and completely badass, but with just enough trauma and vulnerability to make feel real and relatable. Malakai absolutely stole my heart. He’s supportive, caring, and always has Lor’s back, making their dynamic one of my favourite parts of the book. The side characters were just as easy to love, adding warmth, humour, and depth to the story.

What really made this book work for me was the balance. It delivers an engaging plot, a romance that had me fully invested, and just the right amount of spice to keep things extra fun. Everything blended together so naturally that I found myself not wanting to put it down.

Overall, Realm Weaver was such an enjoyable read. With its wonderful characters, imaginative world, engaging magic system, and perfect mix of adventure and romance, it was an easy 5 star read for me. I already know this is a book I’ll be recommending to other fantasy romance fans!

Thank you L.K. Witt and Rattle the Stars PR for allowing me to ARC read this phenomenal story! The author does a remarkable job of creating two very separate worlds that this story takes place in. The world building literally takes you light Elven land of the Surface to the dark always night Netherdark ruled by the Fae, mortal enemies of the elves, but not everything is as it seems and who is the true enemy?

This story is filled with slow burn yearning, political unrest, and a number of well written creatures and lovable side characters. With the world building of LOTR and whimsical magic of Ferngully, this is a must read for fans of whimsical magic and unique creatures.

Yes, if you would love an immersive fantasy story set within an underground bioluminescent world with some really good, witty banter between the out-of-place warrior princess and a horned prince.

No, if you hate when the tension breaks too soon and conflicts are resolved too easily.

I really loved the beginning half of this book. It had everything I love, and as an elder millennial, this world felt magical, like the old-school fantasy stories I grew up with. It had witty banter between a badass princess and the underground prince of her enemy, two tyrannical kings with offspring leading a rebellion against them, and one imprisoned big bad shadow demon god.

I felt like the beginning half was well plotted and developed, but as the story progressed, the plot and character/relationship development were being rushed. I felt like the tension between the FMC & MMC fell apart once they gave into their their attraction and bond. I would have loved them so much more if they had a slow-burn romance instead; it felt like insta-love once they gave in.

The conflict towards the end of the book was resolved a little too quickly for my liking. Characters accepted things and truths a little too easily for it to be believable.

This is a 4.25-4.5 ⭐️ with a 🌶️🌶️ spice rating. These are subjective and should not be taken as hard fact.

This is a romance heavy fantasy. I think the sequel will still have romance, but the relationship is established and there will hopefully be less drama between the main couple.

I very much wish there was more information about Malakai’s past and family given, I would have loved to see memories or more emotion about those heavy topics. I would have also liked to see Yarrow be less agreeable to Lorelia after she returns. I think there was some pushback, but it didn’t last nearly long enough and wasn’t fierce enough for someone who is the Commander of an army. Plus the random familial tie for Yarrow didn’t make much sense at this current time. I loved Fern and Anika. They were both great friends and they didn’t put up with any shit from Lorelia.

I thought the two kings were exceptionally written, though her father really peeved me because of his blatant disregard and disrespect for his own daughter. I would have loved to see more of a deep dive into that relationship too.

I enjoyed the secondary characters so much. I thought Axel and Visus were wonderfully written and absolute perfection for their roles, and I immensely enjoyed the relationship that Visus and Lorelia created over time.

Would have lived to see the enemy god be a little more menacing, but we’ll see what the sequel brings.

Overall I think the book could’ve had more information and more emotion from characters, but I had a great time. If you like fated mates, dragon shifters and (one-sided) reluctant allies of enemy kingdoms this is for you!
I’m looking forward to book 2

We follow our FMC princess, who is the lightweaver who was prophesied to defeat the big bad from the realm. Definitely some serious boots to fill!
While running from a terrible man, she accidentally tumbles into the Netherdark, nearly eaten by giant spiders and captured by a dragon who delivers her to the ruler of this place. This is all I'm saying because you need to read this book 😍
Magic, gods, dragons and fated mates! I absolutely love the MMC in this book 🫠
This is book one, and I cannot wait for the next book 😜

•I applied, and was selected, to receive an Advanced Reader Copy of "Realmweaver" in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine alone, I do not know this author, and I did not receive any compensation for my review.•

Right, now that the formalities are out of the way, here we go! I really enjoyed the story overall, there were chapters that absolutely consumed me, but there were a few times that I felt disconnected or confused by certain scenes or lines of dialogue that felt out of context or just random.

I was immediately interested in this book based off the 'blurb' that described this story as "Lord of The Ring meets Alice in Wonderland with a sprinkle of FernGully". I love LOTR (have watched the movies at least 100 times each), the elves, the dwarves, the wildlife and scenery.. everything. What I got from 'Realmweaver' fell a bit short of what I was hoping for. That could be that I set my expectations too high, but I also didn't get the "Alice in Wonderland" vibe from the story.. I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but it just didn't hit the mark for me. I loved the world that LK Witt has created though, even if it didn't exactly match the expectations I set for myself before reading.

The characters, both main and supporting, were great and I immediately connected with Lorelia, the FMC, in the sense that I have also spent years struggling with inner turmoil, dreams and desires that were put to the sideline based on what others expected from me, and the struggle to overcome the negativity and shame. The character art for the MMC really hooked me.. have you seen Malakai?! Honestly, who wouldn't *literally* fall head over heels for him? Never mind that he's a gorgeous, broody fae prince with horns, he has an emotional depth to him that isn't immediately recognizable. He presents himself in a certain light out of necessity, but also self-preservation and fear. Anika might be my favorite supporting character as she reminds me of a dear friend and I spent most of the book just waiting for a quick quip from her! Aiden though... I'd be happy to see the back of him, for better or worse. We all know him, we have all had to endure him, and we all wish him a lifetime of misery.

Overall, the world building and scenery were good. Some scenes felt clearer and more deeply illustrated while others left a blurred image in my mind, if that makes any sense. I would love to see certain places in artwork just to see if I'm picturing it as the author described. The ending had me tapping through my kindle wondering if I had missed something. I wasn't ready for it to be over! I am looking forward to the second book, for sure, because that epilogue has me so curious.. is it who I think it is, or something worse?! I will absolutely be doing a second read through, and with the cover art being as stunning as it is, this will make a lovely addition to my shelves.

'REALMWEAVER' will be released on November 10th, 2026. You can preorder the eBook on Amazon now. Be sure to follow @rattlethestarspr and @lokawrites on Instagram for announcements and promotions!

Lorelia is the light-weaver destined to save them all from Abadonis, the tyrant god. Her world is dying: The stars are dwindling, chasms are opening in the earth and there is a blight gradually decaying the vegetation. When she accidentally falls into one of those chasms, she finds herself in the Netherdark. The Netherking takes her prisoner. But his son, the prince, becomes her ally. While the threat from the abyss is stirring and both worlds may be lost, Lorelia & Malakai find out that their destiny is much different than they thought.

The prologue sparks the intrigue for what is coming, as it makes you anticipate the mysterious character mentioned. Witt has a way of making you feel you are with the characters, accompanying them in their endeavors. She has envisioned this world fully and is adept at sharing it. Presenting figurative speech that evokes wonderful imagery, there are examples of wording that are linguistic beauties. Staples of magical tales that we love are successfully coupled with the author's imagination, bringing us immense wonder & delight. The creativity really roars when we arrive in the Netherdark and I would read the descriptions slowly, so as to savor this world.

Good-natured humor threads through the prose which always has embers of hope, even in its darkest hours. There were parts where I outright hee-hawed like a donkey. You can feel Witt's enthusiasm in delivering this story and it is contagious. There is so much sentiment in this tale that has been woven in such an engaging manner. The "Aha!" and "What the..." moments will excite you with their cleverness. The lore embedded in this story is wonderful.

The FMC is not badass because she is a trained fighter or due to her power to weave starlight (awesome), but because doing the right thing is imprinted on her soul. While being kind-hearted, she takes no shit and I'm here for it. Not going to spoil, so Malaki being ******** and ******** is sensational. The iresome prince (chuckle-inducing for us) is supposed to be someone our heroine hates, but the clashing of wits turned into dancing of words and brought forth feelings that cannot be denied. He is so swoony. There are many great characters to love, who are not ornaments but breathe warmth and are integral to the narrative.

I must admit — even though I adore this book — that there were some bumpy choices of words or phrases and editing. There was a need, in places, to balance punctuation like em dashes or italics. And no em dashes are AI baloney please; Hemingway and Charles Dickens used them, and this fantasy is obviously written by a lovely human being. It just threw me out of my marvelous immersion. There were a few often-used types of subplots I was not too crazy about; one ended up being important to the story, the other disappeared thankfully.

There are two sides to every story and this book explores it beautifully. Things may not always be as they seem. I believe Realmweaver is fundamentally about finding the power within and chasing the shadows away. A Fae-vibed glittering Wonderland, a radiance in the dark full of sticky danger that brought to mind wonderful films such as The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth and Legend. It evokes Lord of the Rings, for me mainly, in its inclusion of a quest, great allies and pure evil. L.K. Witt is a grand new voice in fantasy you do not want to miss. And Realmweaver, the start of a more than exceptional duology.

This had a lot of potential but unfortunately fell flat for me. The world building is interesting and you do get Alice in Wonderland vibes with the Netherdark. It's definitely fantastical with the environment, though I wish we could see more of the creatures that aren't monsters in the world.

The reason this fell flat for me is because the pacing felt off and I didn't feel like there was much tension throughout the story.

Lorelia is supposed to be feeling this crushing pressure to be the savior of her people as they prepare for war, while battling with the guilt and shame surrounding the death of her mother. But we're introduced to her character laughing and joking around and flirting, and it doesn't really get deeper throughout the story for me with her character, despite the soul searching and journeying and learning that she does.

This is also advertised as enemies to allies to ?? but I don't think we ever get that tension of enemies. Lorelia seems wholly unfazed by her 'capture' and within days is touring the city, sharing candy, and desiring the Prince. I was actually so confused by how fast things developed that I even reached out to the author for clarification on the timing between chapters to see if I was missing something.

The relationship development just felt off. The romance is very instalust /instalove, and the banter felt flat and forced. Lorelia seems very isolated, with no strong friendships or relationships with anyone around her except her guard, who is supposed to be romantic tension I guess. For someone who is supposed to be so in love with her, he's very passive in how he reacts to her mate bond. It all just felt so superficial and unbelievable.

Any conflict that came up was quickly resolved with a neat bow. The "betrayal", for instance, lasted one or two paragraphs with a tantrum and then it was over. The soul searching to face her darkest secrets and truths was a page or two long, and was resolved quickly and simply, resulting in almost no payoff considering how pivotal a moment it should have been.

The sex scene was fine but felt too explicit for how the rest of the book read. It didn't really feel in character for the Prince to talk like that, and the biting felt random. I think if we had more insight into mates and mating it could have helped with that possessiveness appearing and the acceptance of people of the bond to the enemy. We get one sentence to explain that the mating bond is sacred and that's it. That's the whole explanation that neatly forces the story foward at the end.

And lastly, we get all this buildup that the big bad is coming, destroying both worlds in the process, only for him to... Mock Lorelia and disappear until book two.

I wish this has been longer, more fleshed out to allow us to connect more deeply with the characters and world. At this point I don't feel connected to the characters, their motivations feel shallow and events just didn't feel impactful. There's a lot of potential here, it just needs more.

I received a digital ARC (advance reader copy) of this book for free in exchange for an honest review. I'm grateful for the opportunity to be introduced to this author's work.

While this book is a romantasy that contains some tropes that fans of the genre will have undoubtedly encountered before, it managed to be unique in ways I found quite enjoyable. My favorite part was definitely the setting, which can be divided into two separate but connected "realms." The Underdark and the land above. The author created both of them to be very distinct environments, emphasizing their separate natures in descriptions throughout the story, but the populations of both worlds build their cities and lives around their natural environments in ways that are similar. Since the people of these different lands were not as separate as they are when the story starts, it makes sense and flows well with the story. Where the Underdark is full of mushrooms and crystal and rock formations, the above lands are full of trees, grass, and other sun loving plants. I think other people who love colorful and thoughtful world building will be pleased to see what the author has come up with.

I also enjoyed the magic systems in use. There are similar powers across the various races of the story, with some variations that align with specific creature types. Different magic types also sometimes impact the characters' appearances which is a fun touch.

Overall, I did enjoy the story and if the second book were out then I would already be reading it!

I think this is a well done first independent book from a promising new author. I hope to read more and see this author's writing mature and evolve.

That said, there are some things that made it clear this was an indie book that lacked the support that publishers typically help provide. A professional editor advising on the story development likely would have helped this book shine even brighter. Unfortunately, even promising authors just getting started usually don't have those resources. Had this been a book put forth by a mid-to-large publisher, I would have rated a star lower.

I think the pacing could have used some massaging. It felt like some of the most important parts of the book happened very quickly and then the story moved on so abruptly that the impact of those developments didn't have time to land. I also felt that characters other than FMC feel a bit shallow and could use more depth - fortunately since there will be a book two, there may still be time for more of that in this story. So as not to spoil anything, I will say I would have liked to see more conflict among the allied characters as well. That would have added depth and realism to the relationships.

a lovely debut by an author i truly enjoy as a person! blessed for an arc copy + to leave this review with my own will —

pros:

- loved the world building of both sides. truly! the netherdark + the surface, all the descriptions were so nice to see the worlds in your head while reading. refreshing worlds in the midst of romantasy/fantasy lands.

- the unique magic, creatures, and plants (okay how lor glows?! ugh, so cute.) her power is from stars, where there are several types of magic users, she’s the only one with that power! the magic breakdown was wonderful and easy to understand, which i appreciate while reading.

- loved the overall plot “she’s destined to slay the one god left in the world as he awakens and destroying everything in his path” but with a twist.

- speaking of twists, THE END?! with orion + the epilogue?!
if book two were out to follow-up, i’d be reading it right away.

- loved the characters introduced, main & side (and the side characters were really well done and included)

- the banter was fun, hilarious, and perfect

- the mmc + fmc’s relationship was really cute, hot in moments but also he’s so respectful, and it was light hearted and lovely.

cons:

with the characters introduced, some things were repetitive and i’d like to of seen a different dialogue take place every now and then when speaking to a said-character. (like how visus gets her intel from the mycelium network, yet we’re reminded a few times of it — and i prefer more show than tell)

i wish the pacing was slower when it came to them falling in love — i wanted a SLOW burn / enemies to lovers — malachi never hated her + loved her from the moment he saw her, and she was just raised in distrust about the fae and loves him in the end.

i feel that if the pacing was slower in some spots, the book could strengthen up in some other parts and then would have a greater impact of a reveal.

some parts felt rushed in the overall plot of the story and when some key information was released, when it could be more of a dramatic moment than a reveal + move along with that new info.

ALL IN ALL, four stars + will continue the series as it releases to see where the adventure goes! the author herself is so fun spirited + i’m so proud of indie authors and publishing their first works and i’m so grateful to be here for it!

Realmweaver by L. K. Witt

Thank you to L. K. Witt @lokatwrites and @rattlethestarspr for an advanced reader copy of this book. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review; all opinions are my own.

Realmweaver is a whimsical high-fantasy involving elves, fae, and a draconic shifter, with romantasy tropes like chosen one and fated mates. Lorelia, elven princess of Aeldrynor, is star-touched, blessed by Astaria, the Goddess of Light and Creation, and destined to defeat Abadonis, God of Darkness and Destruction. As the elves prepare for war against the fae of the Netherdark, Lorelia ends up falling into its depths and encounters a mystical realm where she is taken prisoner. With few options open to her, she forms an alliance with Malakai, the Prince of the Netherdark. As she learns more about her destiny, she unravels the truth of things, as she faces her shadows and hones her power.

I was truly captivated by the realm of the Netherdark. With the glittering crystals, glowing mushrooms, and mystical creatures, I found entranced by this underground kingdom and its inhabitants. On another note, the banter between Lorelia and Malakai was comical and cute, making their brewing romance entertaining. In addition, I loved many of the supporting characters, but my favorite among them was Visus. Much respect for the disability rep. Though she was blind, she is able to sense things as though she could see like anyone else, and she helped Lorelia hone her powers and helped provide a better understanding of how the magic works in this world.

After learning about the prophecy, I was eager to find out how things will play out, as they prepared for the return of Abadonis. But more mysteries surfaced and now I’m left needing the next book - their story is not yet finished. If you enjoy tropes involving prophecy, chosen one, fated mates; like stories involving fae, elves, or dragons; or enjoy celestial themes or mystical realms, this book is for you.

“To convince yourself that there is no darkness within you is to lie to yourself. It’s the balance that is required."

Thank you to L.K. Witt for the e-ARC of Realmweaver!

This book is the first non-audiobook that I’ve truly been able to not only get through, but also *enjoy* in YEARS.

L.K. Witt has crafted a masterful world, stuffed to the brim with hidden bits of lore, fantastical creatures, and an ethereal environment that invites one to walk amongst bioluminescent flora.

The chemistry between our main characters is exciting, especially in the second half of the book. We are gifted with clear-cut antagonists that are easy to root against. The monsters that crawl from the deepest shadows are nightmarish in nature, adding a level of stakes I didn’t know I needed.

Oh, and the foreshadowing! Don’t get me started on that. I loved it.

There were also a few things that I wish were different.

I had trouble connecting with Lorelia, especially in the first half of the book. Sometimes, it felt as if her emotions came out of nowhere, or didn’t match the environmental triggers.

I wished there had been even more worldbuilding, specifically when it came to the lore and creatures. The details we got, I drank in like water in a desert—but it often wasn’t enough for me. I wanted to feel every gut punch that Lorelia did.

I didn’t realize this was a series, somehow, so I was surprised when the book ended where and how it did.

All that being said, I enjoyed the story, and the character development we got. I think L.K. Witt did a great job with Realmweaver, and I know she will do even better with its sequel. I can’t wait to find out what becomes of our main characters, and the antagonists we’ve met along the way. :)

Even though I was reading words, somehow Realmweaver managed to become a totally visually immersive experience for me, and I loved it. The vivid description of the characters and landscape had my head swimming with vibrant glowing lights and colors. And the story….chef’s kiss!

Just as I had placed myself on a ban from applying to ARCs, I saw a sign up for Realmweaver described as Alice in Wonderland meets LOTR with a sprinkle of Ferngully. How could I resist?

If you like….
✨ Celestial Themes
✨ Elves and Fae
✨ Enemies to Allies to ??
✨ Hidden Underground Kingdom
✨ Fated Mates
✨ Mental Health Representation

Then you will like Realmweaver! Lorelia is the Elven Princess of Aeldrynor, and she is destined to save her people from an evil God, Abadonis, upon his return. Lorelia has the power of the stars, however as Abadonis’ return becomes more imminent, the stars are dying and chasms are forming on the surface. Lorelia is unexpectedly drawn to a chasm and falls in finding herself in the Netherdark and imprisoned by the Netherdark king. Lorelia now has to not only face the return of Abadonis, she also has to figure out how to escape the Netherdark and return to the surface. Enter Malakai Gloomwalker, the prince of the Netherdark. He is kind to her and oh-so handsome, but is he an ally or enemy?

Lorelia is a fierce FMC and Malakai is totally swoonworthy. There is also a very loveable lot of supporting characters, my favorite being Axel for some good comedic relief! Realmweaver is action packed with a slow burn romance, and yes! A little bit of spice! You will find yourself drawn to these characters and invested in what is going to happen next! I can’t wait for book 2!

You can pre-order the eBook now on Amazon! “Realmweaver” will officially release on November 10th, 2026!

I would like to thank L.K. Witt and Rattle the Stars PR for the opportunity to read Realmweaver as an ARC!

Holy debut! I could not put this book down and devoured it in just a day. What a fun adventure.

The worldbuilding was fantastic and really brought you into these 2 very different worlds. The Netherdark was a world of wonder and I love all the crystals and bioluminescent flora and fauna. I think the magic system was easy to understand and I love how it varies from person to person. I think my favorite little thing is how the FMC Lorelia's freckles would glow with intense emotion. What a cute detail!

The characters were wonderful. I love that the FMC wasn't some whiney teenager and instead was a mid 20s woman with various feelings. I think she was quite sassy and brave given her circumstances. The MMC was the perfect fantasy baddie - who also has some special powers. The side characters were lovely - the handmaidens and of course Axel and Visus.

Did some things feel a little predictable and trope-y? Yes, but it honestly didnt bother me because I was too busy enjoying the story. I think the last 10% of the book felt a little rushed but it seems like things are setting up to continue the story. Maybe it was just me clutching the last pages wondering what the heck is gonna happen next.

Overall, this was an exciting and beautiful story that I am so glad to have read. I will definitely be getting a shelf trophy for this one! If you like whimsical fantasies with some romance and action, you will definitely want to check out Realmweaver.

ARC Review-
Realmweaver is a richly imaginative high-fantasy centering on Lorelia Floratrix, 25 year-old elven star-touched princess and heir to the throne of Aeldrynor as she navigates a swiftly unraveling prophecy, . As the prophecy dictates that it must be her that vanquishes tyrant God of the Netherdark, Abadonis. Lorelia must uncover how this treacherous feat is to be managed and quickly, to save the cosmos from going dark forever, to stop the bottomless chasms from continuing to appear, and save the vegetation from the onslaught spread of blight. Will Lorelia be able to face and overcome the shadows of her past that she hides from or will the realm dip into darkness forever?

Hold the phone, because Realmweaver was the absolute showstopper I expected it to be and then some! The settings were Yin and Yang with the surface kingdom being light and airy and the Netherdark (the below) kingdom being reminiscent of Wonderland if it was darkly whimsical and set under a black light. Just like the settings, the MC’s also were a perfect blend of light and dark, a match made by the heavens. I tried to take my time with this read so I could really soak in every moment because it was just that good. I will be sticking around and impatiently awaiting for author L.K. Witt’s next book, and I would urge any high fantasy readers who crave fated mates, disability & mental health rep, and touch her and die vibes to run and grab this beauty..now!

Thank you to the author, L.K. Witt, for a copy of this book, Realmweaver

4.5 ⭐ Oh, I liked this book! At first I was like "Wtf is with these names?!" To have a Yarrow, Lorelia, Malakai and then to randomly have an Aiden thrown in?!
Other than that, I really liked the writing and story itself. I LOVE "the chosen one" trope and this book does that so well. I thought the magic system was also really different. I loved the idea of a character being blind, but can "see" better than any other character because they use mushrooms to see and hear for them. Speaking of characters, I LOVED Axel and Visus. I thought they were just as important as Lorelia and Malakai. Axel was such a flirt and Visus was so incredibly intelligent. I can't wait to learn more about them in the next book.
I felt a really good emotional connection to the characters... like I could feel Lorelia's dread when she met Sin. It was written fantastically!
Not to give too much away (I think it's a given if you have read enough fantasy and have good pattern recognition) but I thought chapter 42 was cheesey how it was revealed. I didn't get the cutesy butterflies. I think it would have been better received if maybe it was heard second hand by Axel or the handmaid?
Either way, liked the book, loved the cliffhanger at the end and I can't wait for the next!

Thank you Rattle the Stars and the author
For gifted ARC. All opinions are my own

I have been craving a good, old-fashioned fantasy adventure lately, and Realmweaver gave me exactly what I was looking for. I genuinely cannot remember the last time I enjoyed exploring a fictional world this much. It felt like stepping into a dream, or one of those fairytales I used to get completely lost in when I was younger.
The author’s imagination is absolutely incredible! I kept wondering how someone even comes up with a world like this. Every new location, creature, and little magical detail made me want to explore further. And what I appreciated most was how naturally everything was introduced. I wasn’t constantly trying to remember complicated rules or figure out how the magic worked. I could simply enjoy being there, which is something I value tremendously in fantasy.
And the characters!! I adored them. Lorelia was such a pleasure to follow, and I loved that she had a personality of her own rather than simply existing to move the story forward. Malakai was equally enjoyable, and their interactions made me chuckle throughout the book. Even the supporting characters had their own charm, and I got very attached to them.
I also have to mention the writing. It was so smooth and easy to follow without sacrificing the beauty of the setting. The story had a wonderful fairytale quality, but with enough danger, complicated relationships, and uncertainty to remind me that this wasn’t exactly a children’s story.
More than anything, I appreciated how much this book allowed me to escape, because sometimes I just want to disappear into an author’s imagination for a few hundred pages. This was definitely the latter, and I loved every minute of it.
L.K. Witt has created a world I am nowhere near ready to leave. I would happily spend another several books exploring it, and I cannot wait to see where the story goes next!

Wow what an absolutely magical tale.. I don't think I've experienced such unique, beautiful world building in quite some time.
The story is set mainly in the Netherdark, the world below ground, after our FMC Fae princess, Lorelia falls through a chasm in the earth.. Here she soon learns that everything she's been taught about the people of the Netherdark is not at all true, and realizes that she's going to have to face her greatest fears and shadows if she and her newfound friends have any hope of saving both the kingdoms above and below ground from an ancient evil about to return..
Filled with political Intrigue and backstabbing, fabulous banter and world building that is at times absolutely beautiful and at others makes you very glad you're not the one navigating an unfamiliar underground land.
I loved the main characters but at the same time the side characters absolutely stole my heart especially Visus, and I loved the friendship that developed between Visus and Lorelia.
There's so much that so great about this book, but for me the standout has to be the world building.. With beautiful descriptions of a world filled with bioluminescence, crystals, and some decidedly scary creatures, it was just so good!
Thank you so much to the author for giving me the opportunity to read this book in advance.

“Stay with me, Malakai.”
“Always.”

Realmweaver gives me Romeo and Juliet vibes with the added fantastical elements of fated mates and royalty. Two people from completely different worlds who collide and fall for one another while the world falls apart around them.

My favourite element was the world building. I loved the surface/light and below ground/ shadows vibe and I’m a complete sucker for hatred and wars between two opposing worlds. The descriptions were beautiful and I could really picture the fantastical places. I loved that, even though the two worlds were opposing, the darkness of the Netherdark still managed to be so magnetic and beautiful in its own right.

This was definitely a set up novel for the rest of the series / story though, and I did find it slow in some parts. I’m not a huge fan of instant love dynamics and this felt very much like that. I think I would’ve liked the love to be a slower burn, especially with all of the elements that played into this story.

Some of the characters reactions felt a little unnatural. Like Yarrow finding out the woman he loved was in love with another and he just… accepts it. No tears, no fighting for her. Just ‘oh,ok then’ vibes… I think so much more could’ve been done with the dynamic for sure!

Though I am a huge fan of Malakai (shocker, I know)

Psssst… swipe for pretty character art 😍

First off, thank you to L.K. Witt for giving me the honor of reading the ARC of Realmweaver! ❤️

This book had me hooked from the beginning, I couldn't put it down.
The story was phenomenal, there were plenty of twists and turns to be had and I loved every second of it. I really hope there will be more, because I wanna see where it goes!
The characters were amazing, so easy to love and want to follow. The only thing I didn't like was how they kept calling people male and female, I just personally don't like it but it wasn't enough to make me stop reading.

There were a few parts that I felt were rushed, the relationship between the two main characters at times felt like it was moving quickly. I also had a difficult time keeping up with how much time had passed, but that could be more of an issue for me and not the writing.
I also wish the relationships between both main characters and their families had been fleshed out a little more, I just wanted to know more about them.

But overall it was an amazing book! It felt so familiar to me, I don't know how to explain it, but I found a comfort in reading it.
I highly recommend checking this book out when it's released! And I'm excited to get a copy for my shelf ☺️
