Lansing’s a pack contract to keep not only her sister but Mateo’s restaurant. Her omega status has been nothing but a problem for her since she presented. And since her mother passed and she’s had custody over her sister it’s been a ticking clock as her aunt wants her niece with her. Elias, Mateo, & Theo sign a year contract with her to solve both their problems. But that turns into so much more. The perspective is a little odd and one of the things that draws you out of the story. I also want to know more about this nest box. It sounds like it’s in their courtyard. Its collapsible? Why don’t they put her nest in her room? Seems weird that it’s outside. Especially for her heat and that all of the neighbourhood will hear. The story itself is pretty cute. The clinical contract perspective is a bit of a hinderance though.
Literally zero. There was some quirky banter common among current romance novels but there was no connection to any of the characters. I didn’t even care about the cute sister, which is a basic must. The characters felt flat, like they were puppets for the dialogue instead of personalities that fueled it. All in all, I agree with some other readers that this is AI slop, as all of the basic principles are there but there’s no connection and some of the events make no sense. The biggest one being: why is her aunt just now filing for custody? The sisters have been together for years. And honestly, the whole thing with the alphas building lease doesn’t really make sense. If a group of super-men can’t get what they want, who can? Also why if they already have been in the building? I’ve read a lot of books in this genre, some great and some silly, because you can tell how much creativity the authors put into their work. I would take a terrible book over one written by AI any day.
But it went a little overboard with the contracts and amendments and I honestly didn't understand the permits, why on all of them, ok it started fake but it turned real, but because they are biologically matched she shouldn't have technically married them? Because she is Biased, to what? I liked the storyline the characters were good, it's a different take on the omega verse, I just didn't get the restrictions on the alphas, I did like that omega weren't treated like property, or held hostage by government or controlling parents. Got to say it was hit and miss for me, but not put off completely from reading another book by this author.
I've never read such a clinical, matter of fact Omegaverse before and I can say it blew my mind. You get an impression of the world building that's very bureaucratic. We are introduced to a very button up Omega whose under a lot of pressure, not a lot of choices and trying her best to do right by her people. Three alphas who see her, adapt and accommodate. At every step there's this pull and tug and sacrifice to their hormones while being very aware things going too far harms a very innocent child and the trust they are building. If you're looking for high heat and steamy detail encounters this isn't it.
I've come across a few AI written books on Kindle Unlimited and there's just something missing. The books are clinically, logically written which in a mystery setting wasn't horrible. But it makes it hard to connect with the story and characters. For an omegaverse romance worst combination. Even though it was set up as a contract, it falls flat. When FM has sex with each man the scene is the same with a few word changes. And falling in love, amend the contract and record it.
I dislike the writing style. Didn't even make it past the first page without the urge to quit.
Made it to page 9 where the contract discusses that accidental exposure is treated like a biohazard/osha workplace incident and she has thoughts that if anyone figured out they are actually 98% compatible then the world comes crashing to an end. If i wanted to read a forbidden romance I would have picked a more interesting premise for it.
Not going to lie this was a really different omegaverse that I wasn’t sure about but I did read till the end and kind of, sort of enjoyed but am still out on whether I like the writing style. That’s a personal choice. The storyline was good, characters fine just a bit different for me but I am sure others will enjoy it.
I got annoyed with the foreshadowing - internal monologue and the next paragraph starts, But that doesn’t happen for a few weeks. I can’t stand that type of writing. I made it to page 29.
The writing style just didn’t hold my attention at all. It was very disconnected and honestly dull. The premise was there it had great potential, it’s the execution that was lacking. 2 1/2 stars
