A werewolf showed up to investigate a murder in my office building—then bit me, and accused me of being the killer.

When I'm proven innocent, he admits the truth:

We’re soulmates.

Unfortunately for both of us, I’m a vampire. Our people are mortal enemies, so we have no choice but to ignore the connection we share until it eventually fades.

The only problem?

His instincts won’t let him walk away, and he isn't trying to fight them.

When I’m nearly offed by the murderer myself, all bets are off.

My werewolf will take out the killer and make me his… or we’ll both die trying.

*This is a spicy enemies to lovers romance with a happily ever after

Lola said she didn’t have plans of writing another book like this. I hope that’s not true, at least for Rhone and Harper’s book.
Hands down her best and one of the better reads of my year so far.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely Unputdownable! A Flawless New Urban Fantasy Obsession!

Title: Sweet Blood: At First Bite (Book 1)

Author: Lola Glass

Lola Glass has completely outdone herself with Sweet Blood: At First Bite! If you are a fan of paranormal romance with incredible world-building, natural wit, and electric fated-mates chemistry, you need to add this to your TBR immediately.

🩸 The World & The Plot:

The story drops us into Vast City, a fascinating, gritty metropolis ruled with an iron fist by The Alpha Pack. I absolutely loved the unique world-building here: humans, wolves, and vampires all share the same space, but they are far from equal. While werewolves (shifters) are widely accepted by human society, vampires are rare, deeply feared, and heavily loathed due to their dark, sordid past.

Our main protagonist, Bloom, is a vampire just trying to get by in a city that completely despises her species. She leads a relatively quiet, mundane life sharing an apartment and working alongside her human co-worker and absolute best friend, Harper. But everything changes in a heartbeat when a brutal murder occurs right at their workplace, Darkwood Investments, shattering her quiet routine and plunging her into a dangerous web of secrets and plot twist.

🐺 The Characters & Natural Chemistry:

The character dynamics in this book are top-tier. Enter Maverick, the commanding, fiercely protective Alpha of the Alpha Pack—who also happens to be Bloom's fated mate! The sparks between them are immediate. Alongside them is Rhone, Maverick's loyal Beta and longtime best friend, who adds such a great dynamic to the mix.

What truly elevated this book for me was the dialogue. The constant, witty banter between Bloom and Harper, as well as the sharp back-and-forth between Bloom and Maverick, is brilliant. It’s cute, laugh-out-loud funny, and never feels forced—it just flows so naturally!

🚕 My Reading Experience (The Ultimate Test!):

To give you an idea of how completely addictive this book is: I had to take my daughter to the doctor, and I genuinely considered trying to cancel the appointment because I just could not put it down! I ended up reading the entire cab ride home, and at one particularly emotional part, I actually teared up. I swear the driver kept glancing at me in the rearview mirror like I was completely crazy, but I was just that emotionally invested!

🔮 Looking Ahead:

The story doesn't leave you hanging on a massive, frustrating cliffhanger, but it is clear that this incredible journey is just getting started. Because this is Book 1, there are still so many fascinating threads left to explore. If I'm guessing correctly, Book 2 is going to shift the spotlight onto Harper and Rhone (and I am already so here for that pairing!). I'm highly anticipating the next book to give us some concrete answers about the mysterious activities at the "Guild" and, of course, show us even more of the romance between Maverick and Bloom! Can we have some half-shifter/vampire babies/pups, please, oh please, Mrs. Glass! I see that Amazon gives us a July date for book 2. I’m super hyped.

"You’re mine, I’m yours, and we will figure it out.”

Loved it. It was quirky and intriguing. Fresh but still carried the usual touches you come to expect reading a Lola Glass book.

I loved the story itself. It was a interesting twist on vampires and werewolves and their history in a modern time. It wasn't heavy with said history but had just enough to understand and follow along.

I really really liked Bloom and her bestie Harper. Their dynamic was so cute and fierce. Best friends they were but they were more like sisters. Family. As Bloom said: Harper was her ride or die. And it was never more apparent than what Bloom did for Harper throughout the entire story to protect her.

I'll admit if I had to complain about one part it was definitely how long Bloom kept her secrets regarding Harper and her situation. I understood it. I know she was putting Harper, who was the most important person in her life next to her family, first over this new man in her life who was her soulmate. I get it. Loyalty and trust are earned. And there was so much stigma and fear and unknowns surrounding Harpers problem that could potentially have put both of them in danger. So I get her not just trusting Maverick with that information even if there was a tiny chance he could help Harper (spoiler, he could!) -- But I really really didn't enjoy how it felt like the last half of the story felt like it focused entirely on Bloom trying to protect Harper's secret and lying to Maverick. I understood that Harper's issues had to come to a head and that Bloom was finally forced to make a difficult decision and she chose not trusting Maverick. I hated that tbh, I really wanted her to finally confide in him instead of him and Rhone having to ride in and save the day and clean up their mess.

But that's definitely a me issue, I can admit that. I've never been a fan of MCs keeping secrets in books, especially for almost all of the book itself. And even more so in fated mate scenarios.

Otherwise I really enjoyed this one. I absolutely loved Maverick. He was such a charmer and somehow managed to be both possessive and managing and yet so supportive and affectionate with Bloom. I love how they complimented each other and he was happy to take on tasks or chores she disliked and vice versa. Their relationship was just so so cute.

I also enjoyed Maverick's dynamic with his beta Rhone, which I found funnier than it was probably meant to be. Rhone had this closed off doesn't know how to have fun alphahole type written all over him but I just know he is soft for Harper and I soooo can't wait to wrap this up with their book.

A D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S. werewolf vs vampire book, full of tension and quick wit

A man who hoards steals, washes, folds (!) and returns my dirty laundry? Sign me the F up!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the story by Lola Glass

I first discovered Lola Glass through an ALC for Lust & Lollipops, which I abso-f*cking-lutely D.E.V.O.U.R.E.D. I have been listening to her audiobooks on Audible and Spotify ever since. This is the first book I eyeball-read and boooooooooooooooooooy, she did not disappoint!
The whole werewolf vs vampire conflict with fated mates thrown into the mix, I'll eat that sh*t for breakfast, brunch, elevenses and lunch every day!

My favorite quotes:
"There's an actual killer out there." I gestured in the direction of my office building.
"There's an actual killer in here." I scoffed. "You should really talk about yourself more positively, Alpha."

Everyone knew I was a vampire. My best friend was dying. And an Alpha werwolf had just declared me his possession while seducing me. But I was fine. Totally. Fucking. Fine.

"Would showering together help?"
"Depends what happens in the shower."
"Are you looking for me to shave your legs, or perform a dance or something? Be specific, Mav."

What I loved:
✍️the dedication: To plans that fail. And opportunities you turn down. And friends who let you drink their fated mate's blood. And sexy werewolves who steal your laundry.
🦇I love, LOVE, L.O.V.E. the werewolf vs vampire tension, ever since I read Bride by Ali Hazelwood
🫶Bloom and Harper's BFF friendship, especially the bucket list they do together (and him and his enforcers just leaning into it) #friendshipgoals
🪢the tension between Bloom and Maverick was just *chef's kiss*
🤪his absolute F.E.R.A.L. reaction when she is fed by another werewolf
🤣the banter between all characters really, like his Beta 'explaining' that Maverick has rabies #LOL
📝the delicious writing with gems like "Maverick looked tired, but ultimately still fucking hot. At least one of us could pull off exhaustion."
🐺all the delicious (possessive) werewolf references
😂how relatably funny Bloom is with her "Laundry was my arch nemesis."
🔚two epilogues: one month later (Maverick), a few months later (Bloom)

Bloom’s boss is a piece of work. She has been doing his job, on top of hers for a while now. She also deals with the big boss and stays up all night to take care of last minute things because the company is getting slammed with infraction fines and will continue to do so, because they are so behind. She is having trouble with one of her contacts, because she is trying to hide what she is, a vampire. Vampires are feared greatly. Since the war, that the werewolves won, vampires have tried to stay hidden, coming up with ways to not be detected. Only her bestie, Harper knows the truth, other than her family (vampire names are weird. lol) However, there is a death in the company that brings the Alpha of Alphas and the head of the company there. His instincts when it comes to her, comes to the fore, and then her secret is revealed, but she isn’t the one to kill her boss. But, they take her anyway, and she is worried that they are just going to kill her. Keeping her in custody for days and the Alpha, The sarcasm in this book had me giggling a lot.

Maverick is the Alpha of Alphas. He is gorgeous and his interactions with Bloom are hot. We find out the whys and wherefores throughout the book on why he acts the way he does. Learning about everything was fascinating. I love this new world and new series. I can’t wait to read more.

I found myself crying or giggling for the majority of the book. My hormones drove me crazy as I read, lol. Bloom is funny, because she actually enjoys paperwork. So after making a deal, Bloom goes back to work, because she is the only one that can figure everything that needs to be done out, with the help of her department. But, she is very short handed. Then there are more deaths and we find out some revelations. The ramifications of which are horrifying and set me bawling.

Mav and Bloom continue to talk and argue. Things progress and get hot and steamy. He begins to do things that I consider romantic and sweet and cute. Bloom’s response to some of them is hilarious. I loved the ending.

I am not a regular fan of murder or mystery romance, but I was open to give it an opportunity just because I love how Lola G. writes romances especially fated mates. I am sooo happy I did because this book is amazing. Not only that, but I was hooked since chapter one. Before I started the book I felt a little uneasy with it being a longer book, but honestly I barely felt the difference in length since the story was so captivating. I found myself enjoy that the romance was developed a bit more slow, it made the relationship between the main characters more realistic in my opinion.
I liked so much how invested the main male was in our female main character, especially taking in consideration that at the beginning of the story it was made clear that the vampires were kind of in hiding and that the werewolves should never know about them. It was particularly funny how our main female character just could not figure out for her life why the alpha was so invested in her, but I loved the complete security he gave her throughout all the challenges that they faced in the story. I think the friendship relationships of both main characters was very well managed in the book, it was the cherry on top, especially for how important it becomes to the storyline.
I felt like in the middle part of the story the murder mystery was like a second thought, even thought is the main point from where we begin the story. Furthermore, I think this happens because the second storyline that involves the main characters best friends becomes more central. Other thing that I found a little disconcerting was how much time in the book is focused on the main male character being “challenged” I think the point was made the first few times and the recurrence of the event was a little tiresome.
Overall is a really fantastic an enjoyable story, I loved that we got an end for this couple, but we got so many more questions for the next book. I am definitely impatient to know what's going to happen next.

Sweet Blood” is the newest PNR/Urban Fantasy Romance by Lola Glass. Taking place in Vast City, where Vampires are in hiding and Weres run the town, Bloom and Maverick's story in “Sweet Blood” is a fantastic read with aching tension, rising passions, secrets, and a mystery afoot.

“Sweet Blood” is longer than the typical Lola Glass books that I've read, and while I do love her short and sweet storylines… “Sweet Blood” takes the cake. We're able to experience more of the world's lore and mechanics, learn more about the characters themselves, uncover more clues, and experience greater depth in the relationship-building.

Although the overarching plot continues into book two, Bloom and Maverick's story arc is completed in this book. The mystery storyline had a really solid pace; even when it paused to continue the romance, it still lingered in the back of my mind (and Bloom’s). Lola Glass kept me engaged via clues and possible suspects as the story progressed. I’m glad that Glass chose to allow the mystery to continue into book two rather than rush, personally. I am HOOKED on the mystery and the big revelation we’re made to experience.

While the mystery pacing was solid, Bloom and Maverick's romance was also run at a good pace. Although heartthrob Maverick falls first, Bloom is a headstrong FMC who, with good reason, takes time to explore their relationship while the mystery and secrets build. That being said, there’s steamy tension early on that allows the book to be sweet and tantalizingly spicy. At 🌶️🌶️🌶️, readers will enjoy building tension, possessive alphas, giving MMCs, and knotting.

Glass’ sarcastic banter, text chats (I've always loved these), and casual, fun-loving tone allow for the book to maintain a level of cool collectedness even though their world is chaos. The love and family between best friends Harper and Bloom were so lovely and heartbreaking amidst the craziness of the investigation as you try to solve the mysteries alongside Bloom.

This book was absolutely incredible!.

I'm a Hallmark Murder Mystery girlie. I love them, so finding out that Lola Glass has written a murder mystery had me losing my mind a little bit. Sweet Blood was a little different from what Lola normally writes, but still just as fantastic.

Bloom is one of the softest vampires I've ever read. She's also pretty normal. She has a best friend/roommate, works as an assistant, and survives on coffee and sarcasm. Bee came across a very girl next door, just with a little sass. I instantly liked her. Now, I stepped into this fully prepared for Maverick to be a jerk (at least at first), and I was surprisingly wrong. Outside of him jumping to conclusions, Mav was darn near perfect. He was all in with Bloom pretty much from the start, fighting for his girl. Obsessive, protective, and possessive, plus they had good banter. He continuously had to tell Bee that they were in a relationship, which was humorous. She absolutely did not believe him. They got along fantastically, even if they tease each other relentlessly. The chemistry was there at the start and did not let up.

If I could have, I would have taken a day and just lived this story. It was incredible. The romance was perfection, and the mystery element was top-notch. A twist happening so early on that no one could have seen it coming, it pretty much set up the rest of the book and had me on edge, waiting for the other shoe to drop the entire time. Not to mention, Lola held out to the very end to reveal the killer. I was both surprised and not. I was hooked. There wasn't one single thing I didn't love about this story. Sweet Blood was awesome, a great start to the series. I have a feeling I know exactly what pair is up next, and I couldn't be more excited!

Lola glass standard but better

The author has a whole explanation of why this book is bigger than any of her others and honestly, I am grateful for the publisher who is a fool. This book being developed as a different type of publication means we get the thing so many Lola books are missing - depth.

We have Bloom - a slightly sensitive, slightly dramatic, self deprecating woman... But she also gets the chance to show us how funny, loyal, devoted and impulsive she can be. If you don't love Bloom, I cannot fathom why.
Maverick comes out of the gates a bit obnoxious with a bullhorn and ego blaring off the pages. Again, we get to see his depths, his reasons and love and fairness. Somehow his flares of manly bullshit become reasonable and forgivable.

The side characters are delightful. While we don't have a full antagonist resolution we see it building and it's wholly satisfactory.

The world building is the biggest difference to most of this author's work though. A 100-150 page book will never give the room for details set out in a 500+ novel. Lola used every last one of her extra pages to build out a complex society that still has room for growth. Hopefully she's able to reign in her details and keep them consistent, which isn't always the case in her short story, long series formats.

The editing and pacing are wonderful and the threads to book 2 are enticing. It is an open door, HEA, paranormal style read, so don't act surprised if you don't like spice or imagination.

Vampires, werewolves and murder

Another lovely wonderful paranormal fated mates romance by Lola Glass. Lola’s stories are always so well written with humour, banter, romance and human nature (worries, insecurities, etc causing problems) and this one is no different. It's full of a mix of wonderful characters with brilliant chemistry (both main and side characters), friendships, a vampire working for a werewolf, an obsessive/possessive/protective MMC who's struggling with his urge to abduct his mate, an FMC who loves paperwork, a beta who thinks they need a chaperone, murders, heaps of humor, cheeky banter, some great twists, and plenty of sweet spice💖. I couldn't put down and would strongly recommend.

When someone is murdered in the office Bloom's first worry is that her co-workers will discover she's a vampire and hate her. But after the CEO walks in her problems become bigger when he tackles her to the ground and bites her (he is a werewolf) and then locks her in a cage.

On realising she's not the murderer Maverick has two problems to deal with: 1. find the murder and 2. work out how to persuade the little vampire who smells of cherries that she is his fated mate and he's not going to let her go; or let anyone hurt her.

Their romance is fun alongside trying to solve a murder and Bloom trying to help her best friend Harper. I loved this book and can't wait for Harper and Rhone's romance.

Possessive Alpha Wolf Shifter and His Vampire Mate...

I really enjoyed this book. Wolf shifters and vampires, my favourite types of paranormal. In this world wolf shifters are the ruling class, having won the war and vampires remain the enemy and hide themselves to survive. Maverick is the Alpha of all alphas and Bloom is a vampire.

The banter in the dialogue between Maverick and Bloom is so good and it is so cute and adorable how they try to work through their attraction and bond. A bond neither of them wants, at first.

It's a great read and there's enough plot in the storyline that it kept me interested. There is a lot of spice as Maverick is one h*rny and very possessive alpha for his vampire mate (in case that's not your thing).

I want there to be audio soon. There are some of my favourite quotes that I would love to put on a tee-shirt - the only one I can print here is "I'm a werewolf. Ofcourse I snuggle.".

My goodness!

Another absolutely addictive read from Lola Glass. I was hooked from the very first chapter and ended up finishing the book in a single day. Now I'm already desperate for the next installment in the series!

If you love fated mates, soul mates, big growly MMC's that are 6'5, women that know how to stand up for themselves, hidden worlds, best friends who'd do anything for each other and spice. Then run, don't walk, to grab a copy of this book!

The chemistry between the two main characters is incredibly compelling. I loved how they met each other where they were, without either person needing to completely change who they are to make the relationship work. That kind of dynamic feels refreshing and realistic, and it's exactly the kind of romance I love to see in books.

This is one of those stories that's impossible to put down. And, of course, the spice definitely adds some extra heat and makes the reading experience even more enjoyable.

CW: non-consensual biting; murder; alphahole behaviour; minor cliffhanger; graphic sex

I love Bloom! She's sassy, smart, and will stop at nothing to save those she loves! I simply adore the relationship between Bloom & her BFF Harper: they truly bring out the best (and the sassy) in each other. I can't wait to get into Harper's head in the next book! I also like that even though they are minor characters, there are notably queer people in this book (and while they are not central to the narrative, they are important to one of the main characters).

I just feel like Mav was a bit two-dimensional and a bit too possessive for me to really root for. There is a fine line between possessive/protective in an attractive and supportive way and in a toxic way and I found he stepped way over the line without having enough other characteristics to redeem his behaviour.

That being said, I am SO KEYED UP for Harper and Rhone. I can't wait to see exactly what Rhone thinks about the situation with Bloom and Harper that he finds himself in.

Lola Glass is an automatic ‘click’ when her books are available. SWEET BLOOD is well written, smart, witty, heart wrenching, exciting, super steamy, and shows how a heart full of love gives . . . and forgives.

An aversion to washing clothes leads to interesting banter between Maverick and Bloom. It also exposes an endearing side of Maverick—we’re talking seriously adorable. Plus it saves Bloom from her most hated chore.

I have to say that I love Lola Glass books, this one is very different than the rest of her books but still is an amazing story.
A murder was discover on the floor/department that Bloom woks at. It seems that in this world Vampires are not liked very much causing Bloom to disguise or hide the fact that she is a vampire working with the humans in a corporation own by wolf shifter. It seems that the person was K*lled by being blood being drained by a vampire. So in comes Maverick and his team to interview everyone in an attempt to find the k*ller. Upon interviewing Bloom he lunges on her and bites her. Immediately everyone finds out she is a vampire.
I can’t wait to read the nxt book which it seems that it will be Harper(Bloom’s best friend) and Rhone (Maverick beta).

Did I devour a new Lola Glass book. You bet I did. Did I think this was one of her best books yet. Damn right. This book sucked me in to a new world with vampires, werewolves and a murder mystery. The storyline was entertaining, the characters were engaging and the romance was intense.

I loved how the romance was a slow burned weaved among the pages of a mystery that we were all a part of. Wondering who would die next and who the actual killer was. There were surprises and twists I never saw coming. And there was a blooming love story that had me melting.

Maverick and Bloom were fated to be together and for good reason. They were complete opposites but somehow meshed together so well. The chemistry was undeniable but under that there was love and compassion and sweet romance.

Lola Glass has become one of my favorite authors and I love picking up a new book from her. She keeps the stories intriguing and entertaining. I can’t wait to see where she takes us with Harper and Rhone.

Hang on get comfortable you won’t putting this down until the last page has been turned. Bloom is a vampire, but she isn’t like others she is normal in fact if you didn’t pay attention, you wouldn’t know surviving on coffee, sarcasm, and then she is attacked by a wolf. Maverick sexy as all get out alpha werewolf responsible for his pack, they are taught to hate vampires so when he notices one in his area of course, he tackles her to the ground then she was bitten and locked up by him only for him to realize she isn’t the murder. But that leaves him with two problems one finding the murder, two trying to convince the women he tackled and bitten to stay with him because she is his fated mate knowing he can’t live with her so letting her go isn’t an option, but will she agree to stay, will she accept him as her mate after what he did, will his pack accept her, will they find the murder, and can they find happiness somewhere along the way?

🌶️🌶️.5 Spice

I haven’t read all of Lola Glass books, but I’ve read enough to get a feel for her writing style, storylines, and characters.
Because of that, I can confidently say—this is absolutely her best book to date.

It’s a weird mix between paranormal and fantasy lite, and I am here for it.
Our MMC was this beautiful mix of sweet, hot, growly, sooooo possessive, and of course my favorite, obsessive. Genuinely, Mav very quickly moved up to my top 10 favorite MMCs!
And our FMC is this snarky, easy going, but not a doormat vampire.

I absolutely adored this book! Highly recommend it for anyone that loves fated mates, possessive, growly MMCs, humor, lighter spice, and a page turning murder mystery.

The only reason this is 4.5 stars and not 5 is because the spice wasn’t spicing as much as I typically like. Regardless, I’d tell you to read it!

First I got this book as an ARC to review and I love Lola Glass' work. But with ARC reading there's a timetable. When I got the notification I was super excited to read this book and then my husband got into a motorcycle accident. I haven't finished the book by when the Review is due but will be doing so shortly.

Lola Glass has made a new world that reminds me a little of Underworld the movie with some clear differences. I like how Bloom is trying to find her place in a world who hates her kind, vampires. Then she gets paired up with the Alpha of the Wrreeolves due to their being Fated mates and finding out about her best friend Harper. Its a lot for one girl to handle and yet she is more than doing that, she's killing it!

I will update and add more when I finish the book.

Better than expected!

From the title and cover, and even the description, I expected to read the first few pages and realize the author didn’t know what she was doing (she does!) and that it would be so trope as to be boring (it wasn’t!) What this book has is a deadly mystery to be solved with plenty of twists and surprises, in addition to the growing relationship between the two main characters. There’s also an intense friendship that had me tearing up at one point. The ending wasn’t as difficult as it could have been—which is something I appreciate. It’s noted that it’s a HEA, so I’m not spoiling it by saying that. For those feint of heart (if folks like that read vampire/werewolf love stories?) there is a good bit of spicy sex, but all consensual and positive. Happy reading!

Lola is the author I go to when I need to cleanse between books. It always sits right in my heart and in my head when I read them. But usually, I always want just a little bit more from her books. Sweet Blood delivered. I especially needed it after DNFing a book about Poison-which is all the rage. But to myself—is written so horrible, that I needed something to wash it out of my head.
Enter the new book by Lola. It was like it was meant to be. There I was looking for something to read and it popped right up and I clicked on it.
You did soooo GOOD GIRL!!!! this is what I’ve been wanting from all your other books I have read; they just needed little bit more of a umph. You said you didn’t wanna write another one like this, but I think it’s detrimental that you do that ever so often. Please.

2.5 stars!! The only reason why it’s a sub 3 is because we had a time jump at the end & I was like wait what? We never get to see how they dealt with the murder plot? What happened with the ones who were really behind the whole plot? Why it even happened? How? It just ends so abruptly. The romance was concluded, but like the rest of the plot wasn’t and isn’t even mentioned in the epilogue.

It was a fun and enjoyable romance read, but don’t expect for the murder mystery part to be fully resolved. Maybe they’ll go into for book 2?? but it seemed like such a disjointed jump between the two chapters.

For example: Boom big reveal, we realized the plot is likely deeper than we thought! Then we get 1 month later and 3 month later epilogue of like a spicy/fun moment in their future.

I absolutely loved this book from start to finish. Harper is an incredibly strong and smart vampire. She does not back down from any challenge. The werewolf, Rhone, is a perfect match for her. You will fall in love with them right away. Their journey from enemies to soulmates is so beautiful. The plot moves at a perfect pace. It is impossible to put the book down. The chemistry between Harper and Rhone is truly amazing. They share so many sweet and meaningful moments. They also share plenty of very hot, steamy scenes. The ending is incredibly satisfying and made me smile. I highly recommend this paranormal romance to any fan. It is a fantastic decently spicy read.

OMG, one of the best books by Lola. I read it all in one sitting and now I'm mad I don't have anything else of hers left to read!
You'd think the old vampire-werewolf trope would be nothing special at this point, but it is! The tension from the very beginning had me hooked. And how could you not love a possessive werewolf love interest? MMC took the panty-stealing to another level, lol.
The FMC is awesome too. She's independent, not your typical damsel in distress, but someone with actual expectations and standards. Overall a great read: the tension, the spice, all of it. Highly recommend if you love this trope done right.

This is one of those books where I am invested from the first page.
I love Bloom, she is funny, serious, and is mysteriously dedicated to paperwork. I am enamoured with her interactions with Maverick. I think their bickering, and banter is fantastic. Maverick is great, I love how he is the biggest and baddest, the Alpha or Alpha’s, but he is happy to wear a fuzzy sweater. The writing is genius!
It is the little quirks that elevate this read from Bloom’s obsession with coffee (which I totally agree with), and the vampires tradition of having the weirdest names ever!
The best thing is the ride or die relationship she has with her best friend Harper! It is brilliant.
I cannot wait for book 2. Bring it on!

I really enjoyed Sweet Blood by Lola Glass. Maverick and Bloom were amazing characters, and I loved watching their relationship grow. Their love story was sweet, emotional, and kept me hooked the whole way through.

There were plenty of ups and downs, along with enough suspense to keep me turning the pages. One of my favorite parts was the strong friendship throughout the story. It showed how important trust, loyalty, and support can be.

Overall, Sweet Blood was a fun and enjoyable read with great characters, romance, and suspense. I highly recommend it!

I can’t wait for the next book in the series. Please tell me we get to hear more about Rhone—I need his story next!

Bloom and Maverick’s story rocks ! The side of Harper and Rhône we get is awesome !! The enemies (vampires versus werewolves), has supposedly ended with the war, but the bloodless corpse in the werewolves boardroom may start it up again and Bloom is a vampire hiding in plain sight, until she’s bitten by the alpha of alpha’s himself and he blows her cover. This is Lola Glass’ longest book I’ve read to date and it has everything I love about paranormal romance and mysteries. 5✨’s for heat and heart ! And I hope we get Rhône and Harper’s next !.

I have basically become a Lola Glass reviewer at this point, I do enjoy her books, they are light reads with great love stories and humour. This book met that expectation. The leads were interesting and the story had a great flow. a good bit of mystery, and a great beginning to the love story. Thats the part that really makes or breaks it for me. How do we get into it, and not every author can do a good entry. Lola is generally very good at this, and again this books does have a good hook into the story. So great read, not heavy, which is perfect for me.

might be my favorite Lola Glass yet!

This was so great! Every Lola Glass book I’ve read has been a fun, wild, funny ride but I’ve always wished they were a little longer, a little more fleshed out. Sweet Blood is EXACTLY that! It still has that Lola Glass style- growly but tenderly possessive alpha MMC, snarky and relatable FMC who is EXACTLY like other girls in the best way. Delectable steamy scenes, a fun mysterious plot with a little danger and memorable side characters who bring it all together. But, Lola- GURRRRLLL- you did your big one with this! I FLEW through it and loved every minute.
