I really loved this book! And am definitely going to be reading the rest of the series when it comes out! I need to know what happens next
The vampire lore is fun, has some elements I’d never seen before and some old ones with a new twist.
I loved the characters, even grumpy Aurelius. They were fun to follow and I cared for all of them.
The plot reminds me of a mix of Dracula, and The Historian, and mixed with the fun, adventure, and intrigue show Shadowhunters (I have not read the books).
I was surprised, a lot of it I didn’t see coming- some things I have suspicions about but I guess I’ll need to wait for the rest of the series ;)
A great read. I highly recommend it!

need sequel immediately
Literally enjoyed this book so much I had to leave my first review. Once I started reading I quite honestly couldn’t stop it was so fun.
The vampires as a whole were incredibly refreshing- I really felt like the author created this fascinating story by introducing unique supernatural aspects while honoring traditional characteristics all who read the genre know and love! The visual of how they appear in the sun was probably one of my favorite tidbits in addition to how their abilities coincide with their specific bloodlines. All in all, a really great read. I felt that it moved a great pace and I just overall enjoyed this story. and I can’t wait for the second book in the series to come out and see how Mina grows into herself as a vampire and her relationship with Emyr as well as the rest of the characters.

I really enjoyed The Shape of Night because it delivered exactly what I look for in a paranormal fantasy: mystery, emotional tension, and characters whose secrets keep you turning the pages. The atmosphere felt immersive, and I found myself constantly wanting to know more about the characters, their pasts, and the truths hidden beneath the surface. The story does a great job of creating intrigue without revealing everything too quickly, which kept me invested from chapter to chapter.
The protagonist was easy to connect with because of her vulnerability and determination to understand who she is and what happened to her. While there were moments where I wished she took a more active role in shaping events, I still found her journey compelling and emotionally engaging. I especially enjoyed watching her navigate a world she barely understood while trying to decide who she could trust.
One of my favorite aspects of the book was the dynamic between the protagonist and Grey. Their relationship is filled with tension, uncertainty, and emotional complexity, making every interaction feel meaningful. Grey’s mysterious nature kept me curious, and I appreciated how their connection developed throughout the story. The supporting characters also added depth and personality, making the world feel more alive and giving the story a strong emotional core.
If I had one criticism, it would be that some sections felt slower than others due to lengthy emotional reflection or exposition. There were times when I wanted the plot to move forward a little faster or for certain mysteries to be revealed sooner. However, these slower moments also helped build the emotional weight of the story and deepen the characters.
Overall, I think The Shape of Night is a strong and enjoyable read that shows a lot of promise. It has an intriguing supernatural world, engaging character relationships, and enough mystery to keep readers invested until the very end. I’m excited to see how your writing continues to grow in future stories.

I absolutely devoured this book! I’m always up for a great vampire story, and this one definitely did not disappoint. I really enjoyed how the author took the traditional vampire characteristics we all know and love while adding unique supernatural elements that made this world feel fresh. The vampire abilities being connected to specific bloodlines was especially interesting, and I loved the descriptions of how vampires appear in sunlight. Those little details made the supernatural world feel much more thought-out and distinctive.
The mystery was another huge strength for me. There were so many questions surrounding Mina, Emyr, Grey, and her missing friends that I was constantly trying to figure out what was actually going on. I liked that the story didn’t immediately give away all of its secrets and instead let the answers unfold throughout the book. Mina was also an easy character to root for because she was thrown into a world she knew absolutely nothing about while trying to figure out who she could trust. I especially enjoyed watching her begin to understand what she had become and what that meant for her future.
I also really enjoyed Mina and Grey’s dynamic. There was so much mystery and tension surrounding their relationship, and I liked watching their feelings develop while neither of them was completely sure what to make of the other. Grey was probably one of my favorite parts of the book because there was always something about him that made me want to know more. My one complaint with Mina was that I thought she was surprisingly calm when she realized she had actually become a vampire. Given the circumstances, I expected a little more shock or emotional turmoil, but it didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed her overall journey.

I’m giving this 2.5. Overall really liked the plot and the storyline, but found the book lacking in some things.
The pacing was all off. We jumped from one scene to the other too fast and without enough details. Things were moving too quick and I found that we were often told what was happening rather than discovering it ourselves through good descriptions.
I wish we had more time in each scene to really picture ourselves there, but there was often not enough description, and I didn’t feel enough for what the characters lived through since I didn’t get enough of them. A couple of moments where the protagonist slows down and where we can ingest information and relate with them would have been helpful.
I understand it’s this author’s first book so since I really liked the premise of the book, I might give the second one a chance!

I absolutely devoured this book! I’m always up for a great vampire story, and this one did not disappoint. And with the FMC named Mina? That made it even better. If you know, you know!
My only complaint was how surprisingly calm Mina was when she finally realized she had “changed.” I expected a bit more shock or emotional turmoil given the circumstances.
This story takes readers on quite a journey, filled with twists and turns that keep you guessing until the very end. The world-building was immersive, and the characters were well developed, adding depth and emotional weight to the story.
Overall, this was an engaging and entertaining debut, and I’m already looking forward to Book 2.

The vampire-loving girl in me is screaming and kicking because I loved this debut novel so much!
Yes, the plot might not have been extraordinary or transcendental, but listen, this book got me so addicted that I read it in a day and a half, while trying to "work." It was so refreshing to see the brand new ideas and characters that a debut author can bring, and boy, did Hannah deliver.
She gave me enough loose ends and way too many questions that I need to know more; I just have to, and I'm hoping she's working on book two, because, well, I kinda want it for like yesterday. Plus, you get a morally black, stalker, and brutish vampire who's crazy obsessed with the girl? Yes, please.

I haven't read many vampire romance books but I completely devoured this book. Nothing about this was predictable and when I thought I had it all figured out, the plot pulled me in a completely different direction. I love the characters and the world building in this book.
The ending had me so locked in and was completely unexpected!

I was pleased to receive an ARC copy from the Author. The Shape of Night was an exciting read that would delight anyone who enjoys Gothic fiction. Without giving anything away, the romance plot in this books was exciting and fresh compared to others I have picked up recently. I am interested to see where things go in book two. Definitely recommend!

Omg first review hii, but because this is a debut novel I just have to say the author perfected this story!!! It was so so good, and I stayed up late to finish in one sitting because I genuinely couldn’t stop reading. If you love gothic romance/ horror, this has to be your next read PLEASE! Also need second book NOW🫶🏽

This book follows the FMC Mina, a newly changed vampire, who had no memory of how or who changed her. A MMC haunts her nightmares but she doesn't remember him.
The book was incredible! A new take on vampires, makers, powers, the politics and dynamics of a different kind of vampire. I thoroughly loved it! The twist at the end, I was literally on the edge of my chair reading it!

A roller coaster with many unexpected twists and turns. I think this book was a very interesting take on the classic vampire and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book. This book left me on the edge of my seat with more questions than answers. A truly great debut!
