This was definitely an interesting read. It was chaotic, sarcastic, emotional, and fast paced. We follow Petty Officer Rush and his career in the Navy, which is very much shrouded in shady dealings. Set in Naples, the writing and multiple timelines completely immersed me in the story. It explores themes of grief, violence, betrayal, addiction, and family struggles. I especially loved the ending.
I received this as an ARC. It is not a book I would have chosen to read on my own, kind of a mystery with a military story. It had some interesting characters. The characters were well written and had depth. The writing style was a bit choppy and didn’t really appeal to me, but I hesitate to say too many negative things, because it might really appeal to readers who are drawn to the genre.
