Their Eternal Devotion #1

Bonded Through Bite

I’m just your average girl… with five days left to live.

That has to earn me one terrible decision, right? Like finally saying yes to the devastatingly handsome vampire who’s spent years patiently waiting for me.

It was supposed to be one night, but Rafael has no intention of letting me go. Now I’m stuck with fangs, deep in a lust haze, craving his blood—and I’m determined to make him pay.

As if that wasn’t enough, the local alpha’s mate turns up dead on our doorstep.

There’s a killer on the loose, and females of every species are going missing. It’s a good thing I have a vampire—or two—determined to keep me alive, because my second chance at life is already looking a lot more complicated than my first.

Welcome to eternity… I want a refund.

Bonded Through Bite is a paranormal, why choose romance. You can expect vampires, shifters, witches, mages, and more… If you like sassy FMC, banter, spice, and he falls first vibes wrapped in a magical mansion setting then this book is for you. Book One of Their Eternal Devotion series.

Who’s Hazel Rockwood? Oh, she’s the newest member on my ‘instant buy’ author list.

Excuse me? WOW.

I was one of the lucky people who were chosen to be ARC readers for this incredible book and I’m so glad I was.

The spice - 😮‍💨👌🏻… I love a why choose, and can we please just vote for an edition that changes the title to what it should’ve originally been 😉

An absolute pleasure!! I will be looking out for more by you in the future 📚👏🏻❤️

Woho!!! This was a spicy-hot book! The spice level is high and Rockwood writes incredible, explicit multiple-partner love scenes. Why choose.

This was my first book by Rockwood and I definitely want to read more from her.

After Samantha is turned by Raphael she struggles with being a new vampire and all the extra that comes with that. Her days are all about hunger, feeding, lust and craving sex. And Raphael does his absolute best to meet her needs. Until his ex-lover shows up, the famous vampire monster hunter Santiago who adds a bit extra 🌶️. Then add a strong royal werewolf Zack to the 🌶️ and the spice is on 🔥. Samantha also gets a telepathic voice calling her mate. So many handsome hot supernatural men - Why choose.

I really liked the chemistry between the FMC and ALL the MMCs. And I really enjoyed this book and you never really knew what was going to happen or who would bond to whom. I also really liked the multiple POVs. Because you got to understand all the characters and I it flowed really well.

There is a plot in the book too🤭. A murder happens and supernatural women are disappearing. Vampires, werewolves, witches and shapeshifters need to work together to solve the mystery. Plus, there is a very surprising cliffhanger.

The reason I didn't give this book five stars is that I would have wanted a little more backstory about Samantha and Raphael before the spice. I also struggled a bit with Samantha's behavior and life choices in the beginning of the book. Even though she was actually dying.

Thank you so much Hazel Rockwood for this opportunity to ARC read your spicy book. I received it for free and I leave my review freely.

I can't wait to read book 2 and more books from you. I hope I get to arc next book Claimed through Blood.

Hazel wrote in the dedication that this book was almost called "Vampire smut for smuts sake forever" and this is not a joke. It is a forewarning.

This book has everything I have come to expect from Hazel. It is full of fun, spice, multiple reasons to forgo choice, burn without the slow, and a cliffhanger so sharp you can barely hang on.

This book also decides that why choose can be extended to the supernaturals, how this is done I will leave it up to you to discover. Just be ready to meet some of the fiestiest, funniest, horniest beings on a page.

The ending has me all kinds of confused, but also...other things are starting to make more sense. I am not looking forward to the wait, but I know it will be worth it when Claimed Through Blood comes out in 2027.

A quick and fun why choose with plenty of spice! Samantha was funny, sarcastic and just a downright badass. Every single love interest was unique, except how protective and jealous they were.

Thank you so so much to Hazel Rockwood for the ARC copy! I am so excited to see where Samantha's story goes next!

Hazel has done it again — she created something amazing, chaotic, fun, sexy, weird, mysteries galore, and build a strange harem. She truly has become a fav author of mine!

The second half of the book had me in a constant state of “wtf? Where is this going? What is happening? That is NOT what I thought! So much sex. What about Thea? Wtf?!? I’m so confused and love every second of it.” 😂
Sometimes chaos is the sweetest thing and Hazel knows how to create that 🧐

So, Samantha is the FMC and she gets turned unwillingly. And it does not go as planned. The way ‘turning’ is depicted is so refreshing even if it ends up being a cycle of ‘sleep, feed, sex, feed, sleep’. It can get repetitive but there is a reason for it being like this so stay with it!
Samantha isn’t someone I connect with per se and I hope to see more sides to her in the next books. She is stubborn, knows her own mind, had made peace with her mortality, and has petty side. She does spend most of the book trapped in a state where she is almost solely driven by basic needs. So I’m not taking it too hard.

The MMCs: Rafael (vampire), Santiago (vampire), Zach (werewolf).
Rafael is the vampire who turned Sam against her will. He is so in love with her, and just wants her all to himself. He wants a life with her, and I feel for him. Because this is a Why Choose he didn’t sign up for. He is easy to understand, very “standard” vampire with obsessive and possessive tendencies.
Santiago is an old friend of Rafael’s, ex actually. He is still a bit of a mystery to me. What he wants, his motives.
Zach is a favourite. He is so level-headed, uncomplicated, and all-in in the way I love.

At some point we also meet a mystery monster that keeps calling Sam “mate” telepathically, and that is all I’ll say about that 🫣

In general the supernatural lore is a little different here and I love the new aspects. There are vampire makers and they have power over their turned, but there are also bonds, true mates, and chosen mates. There are both werewolves and wolf shifters (not the same). Witches and covens. And so much more as the story progresses.

The ending took everything we knew, everything that had happened, and flipped the script! 🤯 I did not see it coming, almost none of it. Absolute chaos and so many new questions, old questions unanswered, and a cliffhanger you’ll probably hate 😅
This book is a great setup for the series, a slow way to build the world, introduce characters, and leave lots of questions for later.

Overall the story changes paces and there are time jumps but the last 30% ish is high pace, action, and lots of sex. It all fits the story.

Thank you so so much Hazel Rockwood for this advanced reading copy.

ARC reader here, boy this was a tough one. I feel bad saying this but under any other circumstances, I would have DNF'd this almost immediately.

I had a few issues that kept me from enjoying this book:

#1) The FMC had multiple brain tumors and supposedly has just days to live before succumbing to her terminal cancer diagnosis, and yet she's somehow at the club pounding shots, dancing the night away, and scarfing down fast food? Felt like "days" should have maybe been "months". Anyone who's lost a loved one to cancer knows how they are towards the end if they truly are that close to passing, and this wasn't it.

#2) Samantha herself claimed to be a slut in college, and yet she waited 3 years before hooking up with Rafael. Despite meeting up with him so many times at his club, she hadn't even kissed him. Just...why? "Because she was scared" doesn't seem like enough of a reason to me. Also, his instalove for her after they did fuck felt forced and not very believable. Why does he want her? I have no idea because she honestly annoyed me.

#3) I can't count how many times this FMC got put down for a nap like a child. After changing, her routine became so predictable and repetitive that it was just boring: emotional crash-out, feed, fuck, sleep, the occasional shower, do it all over again, and again, and again. I understand she's a newborn vampire, but I felt like they could have tried to focus more on what made her "different" as they often mentioned rather than putting us through her constant cycle of tantrums.

The writing style wasn't the best, a lot of things felt clunky and unnatural in their progression. For example: Zach instantly abandoning his mission and joining the harem despite being tasked with replacing an alpha whose pregnant mate was just murdered?! And like... the killer is still on the loose?! Come on, have some priorities my guy. I love my stories smutty, but you can't ALWAYS be thinking with your dick. It just takes away from the believability factor in my opinion.

The ending felt rushed and like a giant cluster F, but maybe that was intentional? (Sam MUST save Patricia instead of finishing the job, Jim is not only a bear, lion, and wolf but also a dragon shifter who can apparently travel to the fae realm?)

I appreciate the opportunity to read this book early, and I wanted to love it. Unfortunately, I have no desire to follow along in this series.

Thank you to the author for sending me this ARC!

Okay, so I read the first 40% of this in like 30 minutes. I didn't even realize I had read that much that quickly. But that was just how addictive it was. I'm a sucker for anything to do with vampires, and this definitely didn't disappoint.

I loved Samantha as a MFC. She's already in a crappy situation when we meet her, but things kind of just keep getting worse for her---at least, that's kind of how it seems since she didn't want to be a vampire, and there are a lot of things that occur before and after she wakes up that kind of makes you think "wow, can this girl get a break?" But she has a lot of spunk and powers through everything that is thrown at her, even if she doesn't understand what is going on.

Our MMCs are also interesting. We've got some tension between two member of her harem, and it stems from them being ex-lovers, so that's always an interesting dynamic, especially since it's pretty obvious that they're not over each other, even if they both have some hangups from when they were together. There is one of Samantha's men that I'm more interested in, and, without spoiling, it's because there isn't really much of him and he's definitely different from the other three men.

Truthfully, with as much as I loved this book, something still held me back from giving it a full five stars. I'm really picky with my five stars and it's been several months since I've last given one out. I think I've only given out like four this entire year. Ironically, one of my five stars was a book in Hazel's Tracthesian Academy series. In any case, if you like RH, vampires, shifters, and a sassy MFC with men who worship the ground she walks on, then you'll love this book. I definitely recommend it.

What an amazing read and this author has now become an instant buy for me. As always check your TW as this has some touchy ones but what a brilliant read.

This story follows Samantha our FMC who is dying of brain cancer who decides to just be like fuck it and with her last few days decides to hook up with her long term obsession before she dies. (Yes hes a vampire and you can guess what he decided to do).

There is something different about the FMC though not only her time to transition but a host of other things that pop up.

Yes there is sex that pops up straight away but can I say all the sex made sense and added to the story and didn’t want to make me skip pages.

The tension and angst was just brilliant whilst still trying to figure out what the fuck is happening with our FMC and the guys

The down side to this book is that its book one in an incomplete series which is a deal breaker for some. But can I say the cliffhanger could have been worse and left me in a place where I’m like “yeah!” I want that next book without filling like she killed off a main character kinda thing. So for those on the fence I’m just like give it a go and you won’t be disappointed.

Also my guess is that later books will include MM as the tension is there just waiting.

My only hope is this comes to audio as I can see this being on the regular re-read 💕💕💕

I give it 3.25⭐️

This book was an interesting and very spicy start to a new paranormal series. I liked the mix of vampires, shifters, witches and other supernatural creatures, especially since there is more going on than just the romance.
Samantha being turned into a vampire when she only has days left to live gives the story an interesting start, and I liked seeing her trying to deal with everything that comes with her new life. Rafael, Santiago and Zach all bring something different to the story, and the different bonds and supernatural connections made me curious about how everything will develop.
There is definitely a lot of spice, but I also enjoyed the mystery surrounding the murdered mate and the supernatural women who are disappearing. As more characters and creatures are introduced, there are more secrets and questions added to the story, which kept me curious about what was really happening.
The supernatural world, the different types of bonds and the mix of vampires, werewolves, shifters, witches and mages were probably some of my favorite parts. And that ending definitely left me with a lot of questions. I’m curious to see where the story goes in the next book and what all of this is leading to.

Thank you so much Hazel for letting me be a part of your team❤️❤️

I originally signed up for this when the only thing Hazel said was "Vampire smut for smuts sake".

Well she delivered (like always). It started not even at 4% in haha. The spice is spicing for sure and there is plenty of it!

The story is what got me more though, a girl given a few days to live, who is turned by a vampire who has always wanted her. Then we bring into the mix his ex partner a "hunter", an alpha, a shifter and some witches and I was in seventh heaven. There are still plenty of secrets to unravel in part 2 but this was an amazing introduction into the world of Rafael, Santiago and of course Samantha (and yes ibdid struggle a little separating myself from the character.

Samantha is bratty and stubborn and will fight to the end for her men.
Rafael is the one who wants to spoil her and keep her hidden
Santiago Just wants them both and seems to have more heart than what he lets on.

Meanwhile the introduction to the shifters Zack an alpha temporarily in charge of a pack and Jim (who is kinda my favourite) leave you swirling in a lot of hormones and bonds. I absolutely loved it!

Thanks to Hazel for the opportunity to read an advanced copy. All opinions are as always are my own vibes and interpretations.

When you learn that the working title for this book was "Vampire Smut for smuts sake forever" ... you know what you are getting into.

This is a high spice, paranormal, why choose with multiple POV (& participants IYKYK).

There are Vampire's, werewolves, shifter wolves (yes they are different) and witches.

We follow Samantha, who has terminal brain cancer, with only days left to live. She decides to go party and find Rafael, the vampire, for some fun.

Rafael, has other plans, as he is obsessed with her and decides to turn her into a vampire, so they can be together forever.

This doesn't quite work out the way he planned. She is angry and brought back to her base carnal instincts. Eat, sleep and sex!

There are two more MMCs, Zack and Santiago. Zack is an alpha wolf shifter, who she accidentally blood bonds with. Santiago is a monster hunting vampire... and also Rafael's ex!

While Samantha is trying to adjust to her new world, and men, paranormal women are going missing and the alpha's mate is found dead on Rafael's doorstep. They vampires, witches, Shifters and wolves need to work together to root out the threat.

I really enjoyed Hazel's writing, feeling fully immersed in the story.

If you love spice and paranormal romance, this is one for you.

I was lucky enough to get this book as an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
The book was great , loved the characters, the plot kept getting deeper and deeper , the writer uses a fun style to write and doesn’t over write so it is very easy to read , I loved the multi pov as well , I did notice a couple of places the story contradicted itself where Rafael had been saying he was the only one who had not yet tasted Samantha’s blood and formed that bond , Samantha referred to this the chapter before also how she could feel San, Zac but not Rafael , then a chapter on Santiago takes a bite of her blood and mentions how he is eager to get that bond both Rafael and Zac have through having her blood and he wants it too , I even went back to the part I said about Rafael to check I hadn’t gotten it wrong but I hadn’t ,and that is the only reason it’s not a 5 for me .
I am eager to read the next one and see where the story goes why Thea is so important, why Patricia had to be saved , why the females are going missing. Overall a great story and very easy to read and if you like spice this has it all .

Where do I start with this? Yet again Hazel wrote an incredible why choose tale, and I am here for every second of it.

The story is intense with plenty of twists and turns that keep you engrossed, and yearning for more.

Just a short time ago, Samantha didn't see a future for herself at all, now she finds herself bonded to three very protective men, and mated to a fourth? Two vampires, a wolf shifter, and Jim 😉
With the five of them bonded, they've not only crossed lines of their kind, but practically obliterated them.

While her future remains uncertain, she at least has one. And of course, she has her bestie, Thea to help guide her along the way.

Now Hazel, we really need to talk about these wicked cliffhangers of yours. 🖤

I cannot recommend Bonded Through Bit enough. If you love well written books about vampires, shifters, mates, protective men, and of course the smut be smutting, then this is for you.

The Queen of why choose has arrived once more.

Ok. So first of all let's mention the cover to this book- I am in love with this! The colour and font just pull you on your want tp pick it up.
THAT DEDICATION 😱 🥵  oooft it wasnt lying, gimmie a fan!

I am an absolute sucker for any of Hazel's books and Bonded through bite is just the same. Haaa just noted the unintentional pun 🤭
BTB is a sad story to start with, our FMC Samantha has accepted the inevitable after a terminal diagnosis and decides that she is going to give in and have an amazing night with the vampire Rafael.
Thus starts a journey in which Samantha never expected and a few extra men along the way.
This is essentially a story of a new vampire, the blood and sexual lust that occurs as part of it but the forming of lifelong bonds with different paranormal beings and how jealously can almost kill! And smut. Lots of beautiful smut!
Well who wouldnt want that!

That ending! Wait...what?!

I liked the story. At first it felt ridiculous how they treated Samantha after the change but when you got past that, it was pretty easy read. I was struggling with bonds and mates concept but I think that is answered in the next book which will start with a bang if the sings make sense. Rafe, San and Zack are well behaved, maybe a bit too protective but not necessary red flag behavior. There was not much character development and some things didn’t make sense or send missed signals but not like they distracted anything too much. Most of the plot is heavily set on the end of the book which was a bit shame.

I think I want to know the ending so I’ll wait the next book patiently.

Oh my freaking goodness! This book had me all over the place! It was utterly amazing until the freaking cliffhanger! But it's all good, I cannot wait for the next book..I know it is going to be utterly amazing! Samantha was just a normal human that found out she had brain cancer and had days to live so she didnt something reckless and tried to have a one night stand with Rafael, the vampire that she has had a thing for, for the past three years. Well..things took a turn and well you will have to read the book...so many twists and turns and if you like why choose/reverse harem then you will absolutely love this book! Like I said earlier I cannot wait for the next book, it is going to be glorious!

This book starts strong, then drops your on your ass (in a good way) there is so much spice, it was so 🔥🥵
The way vampires were portrayed was interesting, and I'm super curious what Samantha's importance in the supernatural world will be, and who Thea really is. The relationships are based entirely on bonding, save for Raph, leaving them feeling a bit hollow. I did love their protectiveness over her, as expected of bonds. The entire story was well written and had me turning pages to find out what happens next. I read it in less time than I was expecting, because going to bed with 100 pages left is nonsense! Thank you for the wonderful read.

Thank you Hazel for providing this arc.❤️

If you ever wanted to read something like Lehaba was watching in Crescent City, this one is for you.

Spice level 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

It was chaotic, it was steamy and the cliffhanger was illegal.

I loved how it started with one pov and further in the story i read about other pov's. It was nice to get to know the characters more than from one persons point of view.

The spice was well written and no use of the weird terms most use for spicy scènes like his sword or something.

I ended the book with so many questions, i cant wait to read the next book in the serie.

Bonded Through Bite by Hazel Rockwood was such a fun why-choose paranormal romance!

I loved the relationship between Samantha and her love interests! The way they were introduced throughout the story made it easier to connect with them as individuals, and it made them so lovable.

One of my favourite parts of this book was how chaotic the characters were. This, paired with the pacing of the plot, made me binge the entire novel in one evening. I just could not put my Kindle down.

I had such a great time reading this, and I can’t wait for its sequel coming out next year!

Thank you so much to Hazel Rockwood for the ARC!

I received an ARC from the author.

The book is about FMC Samantha, who is terminally ill. At the end of her life, she decides to let loose one last time so she can die without regrets. Her end, however, turns out to be a new beginning thanks to MMC Rafael. Throughout the story, she discovers her new life, and several other MMCs cross her path.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It was an easy read and had plenty of spice. On top of that, there’s a mystery that just keeps getting more intriguing. I couldn’t put the book down.

I’m already looking forward to the next book!

I really enjoyed this book. I was hooked from the first page and read straight through in a day. The book is well written and there’s a lot of characters to get you head around. Love Samantha and her sass, doesn’t let her men away with anything. Each man is completely different and there is a lot of spice. Can’t say more without spoilers so recommend you read for yourself. Can’t wait to see how this story develops in the next book.

This book was such a fun and quick read! I really liked Samantha, the fmc, her friendship with Thea, and the way the author built the romantic relationships over time. It felt like each relationship had a uique dynamic and timeline which kept me hooked. While there was a lot of spice and relationship development, there was also an intriguing subplot about Patricia, the mmc's past and the missing paranormal women. If you like why choose paranormal romance, friends to lovers, vampires, shifters, a bit of mystery and spice, this is the perfect story for you!

Thank you to Hazel for the ARC.

I knew going in I would like this book because it's a spicy vampire why choose but WOW. I love all that, of course, but the story and the relationships between the characters drew me in even more. I'm also completely invested in the mysteries in this book and can't wait to read the next one already to find out more.

I love vampires and werewolves, bonds and mates, and this has it all. And a cliffhanger of course. 😅 (But I loved this one!)

NGL, when the author's dedication had 'Vampire smut for smuts sake' I really thought I was jumping into an all smut, little story, book (not that I was complaining)... but Bonded Through Bite is sooo much more than just smut. Its a great story with fun banter, fun characters and PLENTY of story AND spice. This book was very entertaining and I barreled through it. Another thing I was not expecting... um... cliffhanger?!?!?!? Cannot wait until book 2!!! (there better be a book two!!!)

Samantha is such a badass FMC, she's funny and smart and obviously irresistible of her 3/4 MMCs are anything to go by 😉.

You definitely need to read this book.
